Superhero movies? Oh, go on then. A pair of very different projects take centre stage here, at different ends of the budget spectrum.2016's Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice was a pivotal movie for Warner Bros, and a big screen showdown that it'd first attempted nearly 20 years previously. This time, director Zack Snyder was effectively charged with leading the fightback against Marvel and its cinematic universe - and his Batman/Superman showdown would have plenty of ramifications. In the case of 1996's The Phantom, here was a lower budget superhero outing, where the price was chopped just weeks ahead of filming. Joe Dante had originally been set to direct, and Simon Wincer would step in. But 10 days away from release, the boss of Paramount was very aware few people had heard of the movie...Stories of both are told in this episode. Hosted on Acast. In which we want movies to stop fighting with each other. And so they do! For this is the wrap-up to our versus trilogy which includes so much hyper-masculinity that it this episodes has no choice but to be our most sexual. Woody Harrelson as a pornographer freedom fighter in THE PEOPLE VS. LARRY FLYNT! Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck dismissing the pillow talk and getting down to man and alien grappling in BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE! On this episode of the podcast we talk about the long awaited (well kinda) Zack Snyder cut of The Justice League (100% Guaranteed to not have one frame from Joss Whedon's version). Did we hate it (as expected) or could this auteur filmmaker surprise us both? Oh and we also go deep to Sky Original 'action film' SAS: Red Notice... (spoiler: Avoid!) And as usual we catch up on our most recently watched movies and Ross talk #MARCHialArts. Hosted by Award winning filmmaker Ross Boyask and blogger/writer/failed former filmmaker Phil Hobden. Discussed: Zack Snyder’s Justice League, Justice League (2017), Host (2020), You Cannot Kill David Arquette, Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice, Man Of Steel, Zack Snyder, Best Of The Best, Showdown in Little Tokyo, Homefront, Jade, The French Connection, Allen v. Do you like DC movies? Huh? Why don't we talk about Marvel. Shush you! If BvS Ultimate Edition didn't happen then we wouldn't have a Snyder Cut of Justice League so let's be thankful. Joe and Adam discuss their complete thoughts on BvS as well as the fan culture around it. It's a good one, enjoy! Our Website: https://untothebreach.buzzsprout.com/Like us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Unto-the-Breach-Podcast-115477870267938Follow us on Twitter: https://twitter.com/UntoThePodcast
The follow up to MAN OF STEEL was probably the riskiest comic book movie of all time. Could Zack Snyder bring Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman to the big screen, and make it work? Here's the story of how the Trinity made their way to the silver screen, and how studio interference screwed not only Zack Snyder, but fans of the DCEU everywhere. This is the story of BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE.
This week The TV Boys sit down to discuss Henry Cavill and the Snyder Cutstone. He is both a super man as well as a Superman and he always gives a heroic performance.
Episode SummaryAs we head to ZACK SNYDER'S JUSTICE LEAGUE, we watch BATMAN V. SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE and give our commentary.Episode NotesIn 2016 Zack Snyder continued building his version of DC Universe on film! It has lead to mixed reviews and thoughts. After a lower-than-expected box office for MAN OF STEEL, WB thought, just throw some BATMAN on it! This next entry sets the 2 greatest of superheroes against each other for box office success...or did it? Did Snyder take the next step in building his universe or destroying it? Get ready for a very convoluted plot, beautiful imagery, an amazing score, and guys who love their Marthas!Let's watch together friends! BE A RAD FRIEND!Be a part of our Let's Go! Enjoy this bonus audio essay from our very own David Moreno and his insightful takes on Batman V Superman : Dawn Of Justice with the upcoming Snyder cut of Justice League!!!
In which we release our Ultimate Edition Snyder Cut of something shorter. Much shorter. Don't @ us #ReleaseTheSnyderCut. But thanks for the download! In this episode we explore more ugliness in movies vs... reason and logic. Oh and also BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE... a film where having a conversation is mostly ignored for more glowering (and in the case of Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor that's probably a wise course of action) naturally two podcasters choose to misunderstand this hyper-aggressive version of children's toys and and one host just wishes for a little more banter with Alfred the butler. However the other host (the one for the home team of DORKS) chose to record while wearing a Batman t-shirt, so he gets it. Mostly. He'd like to. But he doesn't seem to like this movie much. But he bought it. Warner Bros wins. The end. Until inevitably more on HBO Max... Where your heroes try to redeem Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice!
In our latest WTF series, we take a look at some of our favorite stars and filmmakers who have seemingly disappeared or altered their careers over the years to the point that begs the question; WTF happened? Now, before you think we're just picking on celebrities or running some gossip rag stuff, think again! We take a fun (and sometimes funny), researched and fair approach, looking at all angles that led our subject to wherever they are now (which isn't necessarily a bad place at all). If anything, it answers the question on where these fine folks went, how they got there and where you can find 'em now.In this episode we look at the career of Ben Affleck, who rose to fame in the early days of Kevin Smith with indie hits like CHASING AMY and MALLRATS, as well as a memorable turn in Richard Linklater's DAZED AND CONFUSED. However, it was his co-scripting and acting in GOOD WILL HUNTING that really put him on the map and opened up doors for all types of leading man roles, including Michael Bay's ARMAGEDDON and PEARL HARBOR, John Frankenheimer's REINDEER GAMES, the Tom Clancy adaptation THE SUM OF ALL FEARS and the lead in Marvel's DAREDEVIL. However, he hit a snag at GIGLI with then spouse Jennifer Lopez and did a number of smaller films before emerging as a director with THE TOWN. From there, Affleck was on fire again, following up with another directorial gig, ARGO, which took home the gold. He continued this hot streak with David Fincher's GONE GIRL before becoming a superhero again, this time for Zack Snyder's BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE and JUSTICE LEAGUE. From there his next directorial effort, LIVE BY NIGHT, fizzled and Affleck's personal life suffered as well, battling divorce and alcoholism. The actor sought help and worked hard to get sober, next appearing in THE WAY BACK, which tackles those very demons. Affleck has a number of projects lined up from here and is looking healthy and strong yet again, ready to deliver more good work on top of his already massively impressive resume. Also, he was the BOMB in PHANTOMS, yo!
