The Partnership To End Addiction recently issued a warning regarding the growing number of sweet and inexpensive alcoholic beverages that have been hitting the market over the last several months. With the arrival of summer comes increased marketing for these drinks as people head out for vacations and visits to the beach. Many of these drinks have a high alcohol content that's masked by tasty fruit flavors and brightly colored packaging. This and fancy marketing campaigns makes them especially attractive to young drinkers, like our teenagers. Parents, you need to be aware of this trend and warn your kids about the dangers associated with alcohol consumption. The most recent data reports that by the time they reach the 12th grade, over fifty-five percent of students have consumed alcohol in the last year, and seventeen percent have had five or more drinks in a row within the last two weeks. Talk openly with your kids about the temptations they face, and remind them that God promises a way out.
