This week on Forgotten Cinema, the Mikes revisit "In Good Company", '00s workplace dramedy starring Dennis Quaid, Topher Grace, and Scarlett Johansson. Both Mike Butler and Mike Field like this film quite a bit. It has a warmth to it that still works, anchored by strong performances and a story that taps into the fear and uncertainty of a changing corporate landscape. That said, the movie struggles a bit with perspective. The Mikes discuss how it never fully decides whether Topher Grace or Dennis Quaid is the true protagonist, which muddies the emotional throughline.Butler also has some issues with the choices Quaid's character makes, finding that certain decisions do not ring true. And while the ending is satisfying on a surface level, it leans heavily into a very Hollywood resolution, tying things up a little too neatly for characters supposedly pushing back against corporate conformity and somehow winning.Even with those flaws, "In Good Company" remains a likable, well-meaning film with plenty of heart and enough insight to make it worth revisiting.

In this episode of Inside Men's Mental Health, I had the pleasure of speaking with my colleague and fellow men's health podcaster Dr. Paul Sharp, a senior lecturer at the University of New South Wales and researcher whose work focuses on the intersection of sociocultural factors, gender, and men's health. We dove into Dr. Sharp's journey from sports and human kinetics into the world of men's mental health, exploring how his experiences in gender-specific health programs revealed the importance of safe spaces for men to open up about their mental well-being. We discussed the concept of social capital and how environments like sports can provide men with the comfort to be vulnerable. Dr. Sharp shared insights from his research and podcast, In Good Company, highlighting the challenges men face in building and maintaining social connections, especially as life circumstances change. We reflected on the importance of peer support, the difficulty men often have in asking for help, and the value of small, everyday interactions in fostering connection. Please check out Dr. Sharp's podcast In Good Company for some great conversations and resources on men's mental health and wellness. Dr. Sharp also touched on the evolving landscape of health promotion, the need for thoughtful messaging, and the role of community in prevention. This conversation is a reminder that building strong relationships and being open to support are vital steps toward better mental health for men.

Today, we are thrilled to welcome another entrepreneur from our industry. Nataly Horan is the founder and CEO of Authentic Meetings and Incentives. With experience across several ventures, she joins us to share her journey, the challenges she has faced within the industry, and her hopes and dreams for what lies ahead. Nataly's Journey Nataly entered the meetings and incentives industry quite unexpectedly. She trained as an interior designer at the University of Florida, then moved into the space after helping with graphic design, quickly connecting with the people and energy of live events. She eventually stepped away from interior design, moving entirely into conference planning and developing a unique perspective by working closely with both suppliers and buyers. Building Authentic Meetings and Incentives Authentic Meetings and Incentives focuses on sourcing and supplier visibility. Nataly supports planners with cruise and venue sourcing while helping suppliers, particularly cruise lines, reach North American planners through social media and email. Her growing online presence bridges the gap between limited in-person events and complete year-round visibility. Choosing Entrepreneurship Nataly reached a point where her growth within someone else's company felt capped. Buyers were already coming to her for sourcing support, making the transition to her own business a natural step rather than a risky leap. Early Focus and Mindset In the early months, Nataly avoided long-term pressure by setting short-term, achievable goals. Focusing on weekly progress kept the business manageable and prevented overwhelm. Vision and Personal Goals Rather than focusing on rigid industry forecasts, Nataly prioritizes her personal goals, such as living in Italy and potentially pursuing a full-time career as an artist. With AI rapidly transforming the industry, staying adaptable is more important for her than long-term predictions. LinkedIn Nataly built her LinkedIn following organically by sharing what she was learning as a newcomer. Her honest, behind-the-scenes insights resonated, turning LinkedIn into a powerful marketing tool with strong ROI. Sourcing, Relationships, and Cruises Nataly's sourcing work emphasizes fit, reliability, and simplicity, particularly through cruise programs and charters. Nataly explains that in-person relationships remain critical for large-group events, where trust and quick problem-solving can make or break the experience. AI, Delegation, and Sustainability Nataly strongly believes in delegation, using a virtual assistant and systems like Canva to scale sustainably while avoiding burnout. AI acts as an assistant, streamlining RFPs and marketing content without replacing human judgment. Creativity Beyond Business Alongside running her company and raising two children, Nataly enjoys painting. Her personal goal for the year is to exhibit her art in a gallery, something she values as much as professional success. Bio: Nataly Horan Nataly Horan leads AUTHENTIC Meetings & Incentives® as its Founder and CEO, steering cruise lines and destinations toward the audiences that shape the North American MICE market. Her background from the University of Florida and her work across sourcing and brand storytelling inform AUTHENTIC's signature point of view, seen in series such as MICE Bites® and In Good Company. She also serves as Vice President of SITE Florida & Caribbean. Away from the office, Nataly is a visual artist, creating work that echoes the themes she champions in travel: intention, culture, and human connection. DateNovember 23, 2025SynopsisIn this sermon, we conclude our In Good Company series by venturing into the often-terrifying landscape of our own minds with guest speaker Cody Deese. Rather than treating anxiety as a spiritual failure or a monster to be exiled, Cody reframes our panic as a flare gun from the "internal universe," signaling a deep need for attention and love. DateNovember 9, 2025SynopsisIn this sermon, the second in our In Good Company series, we dive deep into the extraordinary life of Wangari Maathai, the first African woman to win the Nobel Peace Prize. Her childhood lessons about the sacredness of the wild fig tree rooted a life of radical faithfulness. We explore how her seemingly small act—planting seven trees—grew wild and untamed, like the kingdom of heaven itself, becoming a powerful movement for environmental justice, women's empowerment, and political liberation. Our small efforts matter, reminding us that we are called to root healing and hope wherever we are.About The Local ChurchFor more information about The Local Church, visit our website. Feedback? DateNovember 2, 2025SynopsisIn this sermon, we explore how St. Ignatius of Loyola—once a vain soldier obsessed with glory—discovered that faith isn't about achievement but friendship with God. Through his story and the encounter between Jesus and blind Bartimaeus, we're invited to consider Jesus's tender question: "What do you want me to do for you?" This first installment of the In Good Company series reminds us that when we embrace our need for divine friendship rather than trying to earn our way to God, our vision is restored and we're empowered to "set the world on fire" with love.About The Local ChurchFor more information about The Local Church, visit our website. Today on What's My Frame I'm joined by Writer & Executive Producer Richard Keith. Richard was born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina, and grew up in the small mountain town of Beech Mountain, where he was a competitive alpine ski racer through high school before moving to New York to pursue a career in entertainment. He began as an actor, appearing in dozens of commercials and recurring on series such as NCIS and Grey's Anatomy.Richard later transitioned to writing and producing. His first feature, Fall, developed with Rob Reiner, never made it to the screen. He's now developing it into a novel with his longtime writing partner, Erin Cardillo. The pair began collaborating in the mid-2010s, and their first pilot won the New York Television Festival's comedy pilot competition, landing them a development deal at FOX. Shortly after, they partnered with Alloy Entertainment to create Significant Mother for CW Seed, which was picked up to series by The CW and premiered on August 3, 2015.Since then, Cardillo & Keith have sold more than ten broadcast pilots to NBC, ABC, FOX, HBO Max, and The CW—including three in a single pilot season, prompting Deadline in 2019 to call them “the most prolific writers in broadcast television.” Their first hourlong pilot, Life Sentence, developed with Doozer Productions and Warner Bros. Television, went to series and premiered on The CW in 2018 (now streaming on Tubi). In 2019, the duo signed a two-year overall deal at Warner Bros., focusing on adaptations and IP for the studio, under their banner, In Good Company.Beyond development, Cardillo & Keith served as Co-EPs on Fuller House and are currently Executive Producers on Netflix's longest-running drama series, Virgin River, now entering its eighth season. In features, the duo adapted Katherine Center's bestselling novel The Bodyguard into a film that is set to star Jared Padalecki and they have two other features in development they're not allowed to talk about. When not in the writers' room, Keith lives in Mammoth Lakes, California, with his wife, two kids, two dogs, and a reasonable amount of cats. And he still ski races with the adult masters team—because growing up is overrated.-What's My Frame, hosted by Laura Linda BradleyJoin the WMF creative community now!Instagram: @whatsmyframeIMDbWhat's My Frame? official siteWhat's My Frame? merch
