I spoke with Anonymous Banker, an M&A advisor with a front-row view into the market for buying and selling digital media companies. Needless to say, it's a buyer's market.AB breaks down the market for digital publishing assets – broadly those with page-based models – into three types of buyers:HarvestersCAC jockeysVanity projects/rich person playthings“If you're a publisher with a mostly ad-supported site, odds are your business will be worth less next year than it is now,” he said. Deals are still getting done, but the buyers are different. These are no-name PE firms above ice cream shops in the outskirts of Miami. We go through the list, which ranges from Valnet to Static Media to Savage Ventures to Regent. The playbook is to buy undervalued media properties, slash costs, and milk the programmatic revenue with hyper-lean models that rudely dispense with the nostalgia of “when the going was good.”“Any content they invest in has to be ROI positive within 30 days,” AB said. “You'll never see them spend $20 million hoping advertisers show up. Those days are done.”Other topics we covered:How AI uncertainty is creating overhang that depresses valuations and makes long-term modeling nearly impossibleWhy the most resilient media businesses are lead-generation machines or conversion front-endsWe debate whether the Chernin Group content-to-commerce thesis was wrongHow Substack's recommendation engine is the most efficient user acquisition channel in mediaWhat kinds of content investors still believe in (hint: high-intent verticals, not general news)Check out The Rebooting's new media product research reportSign up for The Rebooting's Online Forum on May 21 at 1pmET featuring a case study on how Recurrent migrated its CMS across a portfolio of sites without disruption

In today's conversation, we received wisdom and insight from Dr. Steve Porter about all things spiritual formation and transformation – in personal, pastoral and church contexts. Steve's work at the intersection of philosophy, theology and psychology means that he brings multilayered insight into the conversation around growth and transformation. Shaped and informed by the spirituality of Paul and the insight of folks like Dallas Willard and Eugene Peterson, Steve reminds us of the spiritual realities available to us as persons in Christ. He encourages us to be aware of God's presence, engaging in spiritual practices as windows that open ourselves to God. He also shares how we can internalize the love of God and how we as the church can support one another in making the invisible love of God visible and tangible, especially if we have struggled to experience that love in human relationships. We're excited that Steve will be joining us at Regent in the summer to teach a class on Cultivating Formation-Minded Pastors and Churches (July 21-25). We'd love for you to join us!BioDr. Steven L. Porter is the Senior Research Fellow and Executive Director of the Martin Institute for Christianity and Culture at Westmont College. He is also an affiliate professor of theology and spiritual formation at Biola University's Institute for Spiritual Formation and Rosemead School of Psychology. Dr. Porter earned his Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Southern California under the mentorship of Dallas Willard and holds an M.Phil. in philosophical theology from the University of Oxford. His academic work focuses on Christian spiritual formation, the doctrine of sanctification, and the integration of psychology and theology. Additionally, he serves as the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Spiritual Formation and Soul Care.Publications ReferencedSteven L. Politics Correspondent Gwyneth Doland interviews state Sen. Mimi Stewart about her bill that would fund future climate change projects and asks what the state is doing to prepare for possible federal retaliation over DEI policies in state government and at Universities.Last fall, a state audit report found more than $360,000 in questionable travel and purchases by the president of Western New Mexico University. Since then, the president and all but one regent have resigned. Senior Producer Lou DiVizio speaks with state Sen. Gabriel Ramos, whose Silver City district includes Western, about damage to the school's reputation and why replacing those regents is taking so long.A bill that would mandate paid family and medical leave narrowly passed the House last week and now heads to the Senate Finance Committee. Gwyneth speaks to Tracy McDaniel of the Southwest Women's Law Center about why she has advocated for this proposal for years — and why she's pushing back against concerns that it could make hiring in New Mexico more difficult.Host: Lou DiVizioSegments:Senate Bill Would Fund Future Green ProjectsCorrespondent: Gwyneth DolandGuest: NM Sen. A CU REGENT PUTS HER BUSINESS AHEAD OF THE UNIVERSITY And then yells "RACISM" if you point it out. Jimmy Sengenberger writes here about how Wanda James, who is a CU Regent who also owns pot stores, worked to get money to study high potency pot at the university pulled. She also threw a fake racism conniption fit over the "Tea on THC" campaign put out by the public health department, alleging that since one cartoon image was of a black child in the womb, the campaign was racist. She ignored the white babies that were also depicted in utero because this was never about racism, it's about protecting her business from information that might make people think twice about smoking pot.

Episode 2498 - Israel gets 4 billion more in free military aid. Judge rules against Regent university. The White House meeting was staged? Did Russia sink a ship? More egg update. Don't go to this Christian concert? No Epstein list released? Who is running the circus? Great show today
Days before heading off on Regent's newest ship, the Grandeur, the line launched new advertising promising that “nobody does it better”. In in they also claimed to have the “world's most luxurious fleet”, and that no cruise line beats them on destination experiences, hospitality, luxury spaces, and dining. Having been on Regent before, while I found them great, I didn't think they beat every line, so this latest trip turned into the perfect opportunity to really test out if Regent now does do cruising better than everybody else. I am Gary Bembridge, and this is what I found. And as always to offer an unbiased review I booked and paid for this trip myself like every single cruise I go on Become a Tips For Travellers Patron: https://www.patreon.com/tipsfortravellers and get exclusive Patron-only content, downloads and livestreams Visit my Tips For Travellers YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/tipsfortravellers Get 10% any order of The Cruise Maps who you visit the site using this link: https://www.TheCruiseMaps.com/TFT
