Recently we've reported a lot about artists being increasingly outspoken about the pressure on them to create content for social media. If big-name artists like Halsey are voicing their concerns and experiencing pressure, what about indie artists, who don't have a team around them? This is the first of two episodes where we speak to artists about pressures they have felt from the music industry, and the effect it has had on them as people. We chat to independent artist Lauren Walker (who performs as Eurielle) about social media burnout: Lauren talks about her experiences of pressure from the social media platforms and DSPs. She voices her concerns around the “race to the bottom” of creating a buzz on social media in order to get onto playlists, and the crushing personal impact as a result of the expectation to be on all the social media platforms, all the time. Aquí podemos observar el genio del artista en sólo unas cuantas pinceladas porque mi teoría es que no es el artista el que hace la obra, sino la obra que has hecho la que te convierte en artista. En Perpetuum Mobile estamos siempre buscando entre diferentes estilos musicales hasta encontrar una selección musical que, más o menos, se equilibre y nos acabe dando una visión panorámica de un tema o una sensación. Esta semana hacemos pinceladas, casi como en los cuadros impresionistas, sobre la primavera, sus músicas y sus texturas, con varios estilos musicales alejados entre sí, pero cercanos en el trazo. Todo empezó porque no me acordaba del nombre de un grupo, los Bel Canto. Una casualidad hizo que alguien publicara en Facebook una de las canciones de este grupo y entonces empecé a recordar otras voces femeninas. Al final, se ha hecho evidente que no caben todas en un solo programa. A veces la música nos produce una emoción tan intensa que se nota físicamente. A flor de piel es la expresión que utilizamos cuando algo es tan profundo que nos afecta y nos eriza el vello. Son 16 artistas, la mayoría de ellos por debajo de los 32 años, que están empezando a definir su sonido y por ello es aún más interesante.
