Von and Laura discuss various topics related to content marketing, going viral, finding faith, and coping with bad days. Laura shares her insights as a content marketing expert and highlights the importance of relatability and emotional connection in marketing. They also discuss the challenges of social media burnout and provide tips for minimizing burnout as a content creator. Laura shares her experience with going viral and the pitfalls that can come with it, including hate and negative comments. They also touch on the impact of social media on mental health, particularly for younger generations who grow up with it. In this conversation, Laura and Von discuss the impact of social media on self-esteem, finding faith in God, dealing with bad days, personal journeys of faith, coping mechanisms, and surrendering control. Takeaways: Content marketing is about showing the world who you are and what you do through consistent and relatable content. Minimize social media burnout by utilizing AI tools, such as ChatGPT and Canva, to streamline content creation. Going viral does not guarantee sales and can come with negative consequences, such as hate and criticism. Social media can have a negative impact on self-esteem, especially for young people who compare themselves to others and seek validation through likes and comments. Finding faith in God can provide a sense of peace and purpose, even for those who did not grow up in a religious household. On bad days, it is important to reach out to others for support, engage in healthy coping mechanisms, and allow yourself to feel and process emotions. Everyone's journey of faith is unique, and it is important to respect and learn from different religious beliefs and practices. Surrendering control and trusting in a higher power can bring a sense of relief and help navigate challenging situations. Maintaining healthy habits, such as getting enough sleep and exercising, can contribute to better mental and emotional well-being.Chapters (00:00) Introduction and Weekend Plans (00:49) Background and Interest in Marketing (03:10) Relatability and Emotional Connection in Marketing (04:20) Personal Experiences with Water Bottles (05:38) The Answers Podcast and Podcasting Experience (07:45) Effective Communication and Guest Comfort (08:41) Content Creation and Social Media Burnout (09:58) Minimizing Burnout as a Content Creator (11:55) AI Tools for Content Creation (14:02) The Pitfalls of Going Viral (16:23) Empathy for the Younger Generation and Social Media (22:26) Growing Up Without Social Media (23:44) The Impact of Social Media on Self-Esteem (26:06) Finding Faith in God (30:36) Dealing with Bad Days (37:15) Personal Journeys of Faith (38:08) Coping Mechanisms and Surrendering Control Laura Mai Links:https://www.lauramaigainor.com/https://www.linkedin.com/in/lauramaigainor/https://www.tiktok.com/@lauramaimarketinghttps://www.instagram.com/lauramaimarketingFollow Me on Social Media:https://www.instagram.com/thevoncastshow/https://www.instagram.com/shibavon/ https://www.tiktok.com/@wowshibavon

We have this deep desire to impact, serve, create, share our gifts and grow our online business yet the very platform that allows us to share our gifts and our work (which for most of us is Instagram) feels really overwhelming, intimidating, stale, repetitive…the list goes on. So what do we do? Throw in the towel and say “This is too much. I can't.” - Absolutely not. Your vision and the reason why you were pulled towards this work is too big for that. The answer isn't to hide, shrink or even get frustrated. The answer is in shifting our relationship with social media. Cleaning up our side of the street, taking responsibility for our habits around the app, creating space for the inspiration to come through and coming back to what we're actually here to do–transformation, impact, change and to create a wildly successful body of work that we're in love with. That's what this episode is all about. A stacked support system of tools, practices, reminders, tough love and perspective shifts that are going to get you out of your social funk and back into the driver's seat of your work and creativity. The Heroes set out towards the distant forest, barely an inkling of doubt about their actions regarding not getting caught in the rain. The sun was up, and the day was getting warmer. The ground beneath them was firm yet forgiving, and they welcomed an easier trek. The land was flat from here to the forest, and they could see for miles. After a while they discovered a small road and were happy to follow it forward. As they walked some wildlife scurried around; deer ran across the fields, and large birds soared in the sky above. Even so, things were quiet. Occasionally they would pass a traveling merchant caravan, eager to take their wares from the city to a distant destination. Shoutout to Chuck for coming on the show! AH! This is THE BONUS EPISODE to explain why I took a break, I discussed the topic of social media burnout. According to Mayo Clinic, burnout is often related to work and involves exhaustion, reduced accomplishment, and a sense of loss of personal identity. The podcast is going focus on careers, and I am looking forward to bringing new content to you the listener.I was feeling so fulfilled while helping others in the same community I come from and how I was using social media to make an impact. I break down the episode into three acts-- the breaking point, stepping away, and the lesson learned. In the first act, I talk about how social media accounts began to grow significantly in the fall and winter of 2021, leading to more recognition, bigger networks, and a larger community. In the second act, I talk about why they stepped away from social media and their job. In the third act, the speaker talks about the lesson they learned from taking this break and how they plan on ensuring that it doesn't happen again. I also discuss why the podcast is now called Careers in Review and why I wasn't able to talk about certain topics before. This conversation is about the importance of a relationship and how the relationship should come before anything else. The person in the conversation wanted feedback and advice on how to make a resume. I provided advice from my own experience, saying that I don't include any personal identifying information that could be used against them in the hiring process. They also took full responsibility in being careful about how their own values may be imposed on others. I was disappointed and hurt by the comments on the video, as the person who created it condoned the name-calling and offensive language. You will have to listed to the episode to find out more but hope this gives you gist.Let's get together as a community and realize that we all need breaks sometimes but what is most important is how we come back and the lessons we learn from the break. Preventing social media burnout is essential to growing your business. If you dread logging on to Instagram - take a listen to what Kristen is talking about in this episode. Hello hello! Welcome back to another episode! This week is a quickie but one that is straight from the heart and touches on things I have been pondering and feeling lately. A lot of heavy things have been going on in the world since 2020 and it has definitely grabbed a hold of so many of our hearts and minds. While there is definitely a time and space for having productive conversations and voicing your opinions for purpose, I don't know that it's helpful for everyone under the sun to be doing so online. Do yourself a favor and just check in with how being online is making you feel. How much are you consuming vs how much are you creating or just living in the moments of life free from distractions of the world. We set ourselves up for failure when we keep that dang phone near us all the time and start and end our day with it. We must do better bc you deserve better. Free your mind, your thoughts, your emotions and just be present in your home and relationships right in front of you. Set up boundaries for your intake of social media or the news, some of it is healthy and ok but we definitely over consume on it. May you find peace and freedom this summer by letting go little by little from the pull and draw of the internet and the noise in the world. It is heavy, it is a lot, and we weren't meant to carry it all. Do your part and follow the promptings of your heart if you feel the call to lead and take action but with purpose and in an honorable and respectable manner. I pray this message blesses you this week. Have a wonderful Independence Day.
