José de Segovia compara su experiencia con la fe cristiana, sobre el fondo instrumental de la banda sonora original del compositor franco-griego Alexandre Desplat y la música del francés Erik Satie, interpretada por el pianista chino Lang Lang. Las primera canción que suena es en la voz de Patsy Cline, la artista de country pop fallecida en un accidente de aviación a los 30 años, aquí junto al grupo de góspel que acompañaba a Elvis Presley, los Jordanaires, "Crazy" (Loca) es una historia de desamor que escribió Willie Nelson en 1961. Joana Gama é uma das figuras mais singulares da música em Portugal. Pianista e investigadora, construiu ao longo de mais de uma década um percurso onde o piano se cruza com outras artes e onde o tempo, o silêncio e a escuta atenta são matéria central. Em 2025, ano do centenário da morte de Erik Satie, regressa a Le Fils des étoiles, obra rara e pouco tocada, apresentada esta terça-feira, 16 de Dezembro, em Paris, na Casa de Portugal da Cidade Universitária, num formato entre concerto e ritual. A relação com Erik Satie não é recente nem episódica. Desde 2010, que Joana Gama se dedica à sua obra, num trabalho de divulgação que inclui recitais comentados, álbuns discográficos e performances de longa duração. A pianista recorda que Le Fils des étoiles “é um dos grandes mistérios de Satie”, uma obra escrita para o teatro de Joséphin Péladan, num contexto ligado à Ordem Rosa-Cruz, onde “os prelúdios são conhecidos, mas os actos ficaram inacabados, sobrevivendo em manuscritos fragmentários”. Essa incompletude contribui, diz, para a profundidade e para o carácter imóvel e místico da peça. Para Joana Gama, trata-se de uma música que exige outra forma de ouvir. “Não é fogo-de-artifício nem virtuosismo exibido; é o oposto”, sublinha, acrescentando que esta obra pede “concentração absoluta e presença no momento”. A própria estrutura, labiríntica, com materiais que reaparecem em diferentes actos, obriga a intérprete a uma atenção rigorosa: “os mesmos elementos levam-nos por caminhos diferentes”. O contexto simbólico da obra continua a informar a interpretação contemporânea. Joana Gama explica que conhecer a vida, os escritos e as relações do compositor francês Erik Satie “alimenta inevitavelmente a música”. O universo de Joséphin Péladan, marcado pelo misticismo e pelo ritual, permanece como referência, ainda que a intérprete tenha optado por um concerto-ritual centrado nos elementos naturais. “Tudo o que está em baixo é como o que está em cima”, recorda, evocando a tradição hermética que atravessa a obra. Mais do que um concerto, trata-se de uma performance pensada ao detalhe. “A preparação não é só musical”, afirma Joana Gama. Inclui reflexão sobre o ambiente, a luz, o figurino e a forma de estar em palco. “Tudo faz parte”, diz, criticando uma formação musical que muitas vezes ignora a dimensão cénica. O gesto final, o silêncio depois da última nota, o modo de agradecer, são música também. A escuta, do lado do público, é igualmente convocada. Joana Gama acredita que ouvir ao vivo permite uma experiência mais profunda: “num concerto há imersão, há tempo, não há telemóveis”. Mesmo que a obra cause estranheza a quem espera as Gymnopédies ou as Gnossiennes, essa surpresa faz parte do processo. The book looks at early and unexpected influences like Erik Satie and Blind Willie Johnson. It highlights leading artists of the form like Brian Eno, Harold Budd, Laraaji, Suzanne Ciani, and Hiroshi Yoshimura.
