The government and a few other agencies have made offers, but things seem to keep going wrong at every turn. Forrest fires, explosions and cars turned loose without drivers are only a few of the things going on! It's up to Nancy and her friends to solve yet another case! I hope you enjoy this episode! (This book reminded me a lot of the Last Train to Blue Moon Canyon because of the mining aspect of it!)

Cette semaine, Tsugi Radio était au Festival d'été de Québec. Un festival unique en son genre qui fêtera ses 60 ans en 2028, ce qui veut dire que l'événement s'est lancé un an avant Woodstock ! Festival mythique déjà par son emplacement historique puisque la grande scène est posée sur les plaines d'Abraham, lieu où les Français et leurs alliés ont perdu en 1759 le siège de Québec contre les Anglais, faisant du Canada une nation du Commonwealth, ce qu'il est encore à ce jour. Festival unique en son genre aussi en raison de cette immense scène qui peut accueillir plus de 80 000 spectateurs et spectatrices, c'est la plus grande scène d'Amérique du Nord où se sont succédés cette année Cypress Hill, Luis Fonsi, Melody Gardot, Patrick Waston, Muse, Martin Garrix mais aussi Last Train ou Bertrand Belin. Un événement d'une telle ampleur ratisse forcément très large : de l'EDM, au metal, en passant par la folk, le rock et la chanson. Comme le rappelait Louis Bellavance à notre consœur de la Vague Parallèle, Coralie Lacôte : s'ils n'attirent que 25 000 personnes sur les plaines d'Abraham, la soirée est ratée. L'équipe se doit de proposer une contre-programmation permanente pour satisfaire ce public nombreux et familial, attiré par le prix d'une passe très abordable qu'il est possible de faire tourner en famille ou entre amis. Si Québec est la capitale de l'état francophone canadien et abrite son parlement, c'est une grande ville assez paisible, sur les rives du majestueux fleuve Saint-Laurent. Tsugi Radio fait escale au FEQ, le festival d'été de Québec, avec le post-punk du groupe montréalais La Sécurité, et pas mal de musique électronique avec Hologramme, l'Écossais corto.alto et les attachant Belges de Tukan.

Samedi 11 juillet sur la grande scène, un groupe alsacien se montre très attendu. Pour la troisième fois de leur carrière, les membres de Last Train (rock) ont répondu présents au célèbre rendez-vous de la Vallée de Villé. Cette semaine Margaux Lassalle nous ramène dans les années 60 pour redécouvrir The Monkees et leur inoubliable tube "I'm a Believer". Formé à Los Angeles en 1965 pour les besoins d'une série télévisée, ce quatuor est initialement pensé comme la réponse américaine aux Beatles. Composé à l'origine d'acteurs ayant quelques bases musicales, le groupe dépasse très vite le simple cadre de l'écran. Après un premier succès avec "Last Train to Clarksville", ils explosent mondialement en 1967 avec l'album "More of the Monkees" et l'incontournable "I'm a Believer". D'abord critiqués car ils ne posaient leurs voix que sur des pistes enregistrées par des musiciens de studio, ils finissent par imposer leur volonté de jouer eux-mêmes dès l'album "Headquarters", gagnant ainsi une véritable crédibilité artistique. Si l'arrêt de la série à la fin de la décennie marque la séparation du groupe, l'histoire ne s'arrête pas là. Les années 80 leur offrent un regain de popularité inattendu, donnant lieu à des tournées anniversaires et de nouveaux projets musicaux jusqu'en 2016 avec l'album "Good Times!". Endeuillé par le décès de trois de ses fondateurs entre 2012 et 2021, le groupe ne compte aujourd'hui plus que Micky Dolenz. Finalement, l'étiquette de "One Hit Wonder" est plutôt réductrice : s'ils sont aujourd'hui souvent associés au seul "I'm a Believer" (un titre qui connaîtra d'ailleurs une seconde jeunesse en 2001 dans le film "Shrek" avec une reprise de Weezer), les Monkees ont en réalité enchaîné de nombreux succès et marqué l'histoire de la pop des années 60. Peter Guralnick, an author I've long admired, wrote the definitive Elvis Presley biographies Last Train to Memphis and Careless Love and has returned with The Colonel and the King. Drawing on fresh research and volumes of previously unseen letters, the author casts new light on Colonel Tom Parker, an identity-changing Dutch immigrant who became Presley's manager for life. Guranick's complex portrait of Colonel (not “the Colonel”) will surprise anyone who thinks of him as an all-controlling ripoff artist. In this episode, we tell the dramatic true story of Charles Jefferson Harrison, a respected San Antonio businessman who became one of Appalachia's most elusive train robbers.  Caught when an employee tried to deposit some of the loot from a 1915 robbery, Harrison and his partners in crime were tried in Martinsburg, West Virginia in 1916, where the grizzled outlaw stunned the public by breaking down in tears and confessing to a string of crimes dating back more than two decades.
