Barry, Abigail, and special guest Nick Martino discuss Ozomatli by Ozomatli and sample Sole of the Sea (collaboration with Rockport Brewing Company in Rockport, Massachusetts), Drip, and girl, so confusing from Lost Shoe Brewing and Roasting Company in Marlborough, Massachusetts.Nick is now a four-timer, having previously appeared on our second Christmas bonus episode, Bonus: A Christmas Day's Eve! Original Songs by Our Friends, and both of our live episodes: Bonus: LIVE from Stand Up! Pod Jam 2024: Pops on Hops Friend Exchange (New York Funk Exchange and Able Baker Brewing) and Bonus: LIVE from Stand Up! Pod Jam 2025: Neon Desert Challenge (the latter of which he also produced for us!). Give his previous appearances some love; they are a lot of fun!Nick, in part, chose to assign us this album because of Abigail's beef with He's the DJ, I'm the Rapper by DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince as displayed in Jukebox: He's the Drinker, We're the Talkers (DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince and Evil Genius Beer Company). Coincidentally, this album reminded Abigail of a different Derek Hummel, Sr., Jukebox selection, Make Yourself by Incubus, as discussed in Jukebox: Make Your Flight (Incubus and Hell 'n Blazes Brewing Co.).Both DJ Cut Chemist and MC Chali 2na left Ozomatli after this album because their other group, Jurassic 5, was blowing up.We found a great blog with additional information about and clips of Nick's favorite “trumpet battle” between Wynton Marsalis and Trombone Shorty at the House of Blues in New Orleans, Louisiana, in 2009. Evidently, trumpet battles have been going on for over 100 years!Watch Chali 2na and New Orleans-based jazz band Naughty Professor perform Cut Chemist Suite live at the Culture Room in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in 2018!Oh look, more self-promotion! O Le Le names Edie Brickell, whom we have previously reviewed (see Using Honeybees for the Meads [Edie Brickell & New Bohemians and B. Nektar]). We could think of at least one other time an artist we reviewed explicitly names an artist we'd previously reviewed: Crash Test Dummies (see Pops Shuffled His Flight [Crash Test Dummies and Toll Road Brewing Company]) names David Bryne (see Byrned-Again [David Byrne and Lincoln & South Brewing Company]) in When I Go Out with Artists. These two latter albums are both among Abigail's top five favorite albums we've ever reviewed, as revealed in our Pops on Hops Hot 100 Special!Super Bowl Sundae contains a sample that sounds very similar to a sample previously discussed on the podcast: Hip Hop Dancer's Theme by DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince samples Peter Piper by Run-D.M.C., which sampled Take Me to the Mardi Gras by Bob James.Abigail plugged The Manifesto (feat. Trueno and Proof) off of Gorillaz' recently released The Mountain, a song featuring both Indian influence and a Spanish-language rapper!girl, so confusing was brewed with the 2026 Pink Boots hop blend from Yakima Chief Hops. Sales of this hop blend benefit the Pink Boots Society, which supports women and non-binary individuals in the fermented and alcoholic beverage industry!Up next… I've Got My Own Album to Do by Ronnie WoodJingles are by our friend Pete Coe.Visit Anosmia Awareness for more information on Barry's condition.Follow Barry or Abigail on Untappd to see what we're drinking when we're not on mic!Leave us a rating or a review on Apple Podcasts or Spotify!Facebook | Instagram | Bluesky | YouTube | Substack | Website | Email us | Virtual Jukebox | Beer Media Group

This week on Khandaan: A Bollywood Podcast, we return to a full-length catch-up episode and immediately spiral into discussions about playback legends, celebrity reinventions, political memes, and why the internet has suddenly decided Diljit Dosanjh is the hottest man alive. We begin with a tribute to Asha Bhosle and what made her such a singular figure in Indian music. From cabaret songs and ghazals to Brit-Asian remixes and Gorillaz collaborations, we talk about the career of someone who never allowed herself to be boxed into one era or one sound. Then we move onto Aamir Khan and his increasingly public phase of self-analysis. Are the flop narratives overblown? Has Bollywood itself lost confidence in what audiences want? And why does every Aamir interview suddenly feel like a live therapy session? Episode 067: The 24-hour news cycle is spinning faster than a scratched 45, and this week on Six Picks Music Club, Geoff, Russ, and Dave are feeling the vertigo. We're putting down the remote and picking up the needle to discuss how the media is failing us—turning information into infotainment and reality into a ratings game. From the "if it bleeds, it leads" mentality to the era of alternative facts, the guys look for the truth hidden between the headlines. The playlist is a front-page spread of sonic skepticism, kicking off with the legendary Gil Scott-Heron reminding us that the real movement happens in the streets, not on the screen. Hüsker Dü provides the frantic energy of a world obsessed with the broadcast, while Public Enemy delivers a scathing "letter" to the tabloids and Bad Religion offers battle-weary reflections from the front lines. Between the cynical satire of Gorillaz and the surreal parody of "Weird Al" Yankovic, it's an episode for the skeptics, the truth-seekers, and anyone who's ever wanted to throw their television out the window—just make sure you keep your speakers on. DL and Evil Jimmy go deep on the best and worst albums of 2001 — a year that somehow produced Gorillaz's self-titled debut, The Strokes' Is This It, System of a Down's Toxicity, Tool's Lateralus, Jay-Z's The Blueprint, and Jimmy Eat World's Bleed American all at once. They build a collective top 10, trading picks and hot takes: Gorillaz at number one, Toxicity at two, Is This It at three — plus arguments for Opeth's Blackwater Park, Converge's Jane Doe, Tool's Lateralus, Muse's Origin of Symmetry, Jay-Z's The Blueprint, White Stripes' White Blood Cells, and Neurosis rounding out the list.Along the way: why Nickelback and Creed represent everything wrong with 2001 mainstream rock, the case for Built to Spill's Ancient Melodies of the Future, Wilco's Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, the Toadies' Hell Below Stars Above, Ben Folds' Rockin' the Suburbs, Tenacious D's self-titled, and Tupac's Until the End of Time. Clint, Meg and Dan kick off Wednesday on The Edge Breakfast with two chances to win fuel on the “Fuellette Wheel,” but spins for Bailey (Ford Ranger) and Lexi (Mazda) miss their car brands. They debate Gorillaz, celebrate Kelly Clarkson’s debut album anniversary, and discuss American Idol alumni, plus Machine Gun Kelly’s upcoming NZ show. Listener Rhiannon calls in to share her new cookbook “More Than Toast,” sparking a “boy dinners” chat. The team plays a recipe-rating guessing game, talks UFC champ Carlos Ulberg’s stripper past and does “upgrade/downgrade” jobs with callers, then covers a study saying cost-of-living stress is the top breakup driver. Meg tries a hotel bidet, they mystery-shop the IT help desk, and test Clint’s “sniff test” for dirty laundry. They also run through “genius traits” and dating “coming on too strong” red flags with relationship coach Erica. 00:00 Breakfast Show Kickoff01:52 Throwback Music Chat06:14 Dan's back jogging10:13 First Caller Rhiannon20:23 UFC Champ Stripper Past23:39 Upgrade Downgrade28:57 Fuellette32:07 Breakups And Money Stress39:05 Bidet Update43:39 Office Peer Review49:27 Sniff Test Challenge55:30 Fuellette57:39 Boy Dinner Cookbook01:01:01 Boy Dinner Hall Fame01:05:17 Genius Traits Quiz01:09:33 Dating Comes On Strong

Step into another unforgettable episode of the Wise_N_Nerdy podcast, where Joe is joined by special guest Phil Keating for a journey through nostalgia, parenting wisdom, and nerd culture that hits both the heart and the funny bone. The episode kicks off with the Question of the Week: “What childhood film scarred you the most?” What starts as a lighthearted prompt quickly turns into a nostalgic deep dive into the movies that left a lasting impression on us all. From emotional gut-punches like The Land Before Time and The NeverEnding Story to unexpected childhood trauma courtesy of films like Jaws and Leprechaun, Joe, Phil, and the community reflect on the moments that shaped their young imaginations—sometimes for better, sometimes for worse. With the roll of the dice guiding the way, the show launches into the “Parliament of Papas” segment. This time, the hosts react to a Reddit story about someone who was fired for repeatedly dropping “Scotty Doesn't Know” references at work. What follows is a hilarious yet insightful discussion about workplace boundaries, humor, and knowing your audience—especially when your jokes might be a little too niche (or a little too persistent). Next, the dice lead into the “How Do I…?” segment, where Joe and Phil tackle an important parenting topic: How do you teach your kids emotional intelligence? Drawing from personal experience and thoughtful reflection, they explore ways to help children understand and express their emotions, build empathy, and develop the communication skills they'll need throughout life. It's practical, heartfelt advice for any parent navigating the challenges of raising emotionally aware kids. Then it's time to shift gears into “What Are You Nerding Out About?” Phil shares his excitement over the latest Gorillaz album, The Mountain, diving into the band's ever-evolving sound and creative energy. Meanwhile, Joe highlights a couple of recent gifts that have him buzzing—Movavi 2025 from Devocite, fueling his creative projects, and the book Technically Magic by J. Abram Barneck, blending tech and imagination in a way that speaks directly to his nerdy soul. The conversation takes a fun detour when Joe's wife brings up her love for the latest Karate Kid movie, sparking a broader discussion about the enduring legacy of the franchise. From classic moments to modern revivals, it's a celebration of a series that continues to resonate across generations. Of course, no episode would be complete without a dose of classic dad humor. The dice call for a horde of Bad Dad Jokes, delivering a rapid-fire sequence of puns, groans, and laugh-out-loud moments that perfectly capture the chaotic charm of the show. Finally, the episode wraps up with the beloved “Daddy, Tell Me A Story” segment. Joe and Phil share their first experiences playing Dungeons & Dragons—recounting the excitement, confusion, and creativity that come with stepping into a world of imagination for the very first time. It's a fitting end to an episode that celebrates storytelling, connection, and the joy of embracing your inner nerd. Whether you're here for the laughs, the life lessons, or the love of all things geeky, this episode is packed with moments that will resonate long after it ends. So pull up a chair, join the conversation, and don't forget to Find your FAMdom. Wise_N_Nerdy: Where Fatherhood Meets Fandom Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Sabe? O básico do dia a dia.

A new music festival, Blucifer's First Rodeo is coming to South Broadway this July! But the fest's dates overlap with the Underground Music Showcase, the area's former big summer fest, which is now set to take place in RiNo. Are these two concert events competition for each other or just a sign of an evolving music scene? Denver Post arts reporter John Wenzel and comedian Miriam Moreno join host Bree Davies to dig into the dueling festival drama, plus talk through the fight over decibel levels at an outdoor amphitheater and debate the right price for a concert ticket.
