Hello to you listening in Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina! Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Story Prompt Friday and your host, Diane Wyzga. Two lines from the novel Bel Canto by Ann Patchett gave me pause: “It makes you wonder. From the evidence why was I given my life?Story Prompt: There is time! You do know how! What brilliant things might you and your life like to do? Write that story!  Practical Tip: The magic of stories is also in the sharing. This week, we have a fascinating chat with Adrian Buchmann, a veteran watch designer who's spent the last few years playing a key role in Christopher Ward's design department. We chat with Buchmann about how the famously accessible brand's design is evolving, why the Bel Canto and Loco mark a pivotal change, and what the challenges were in creating the new, super-slim The Twelve 660. Before that, we chat about Paulin's first dive watch, why Roger Dubuis might be the next big thing and Taylor Swift's Cartier Panthère. Un man patīk strādāt ar dziedātājiem, man patīk vokālā mūzika, man patīk cilvēka balss, un drāma, muzikālais teātris. Metropolitēna opera vēlējās to atskaņot, un, protams, ikviens vēlas to atskaņot. Un man patīk strādāt ar dziedātājiem, man patīk vokālā mūzika, man patīk cilvēka balss, un drāma, muzikālais teātris. Vāgners nekad nav bijusi Jormam tuva  lieta.

Andrea Bosca, attore e regista italiano, è nato a Canelli (AT), cresciuto nelle Langhe e attualmente vive a Roma. Welcome to season 2 episode 14 of the Timist Podcast Series - check out the show notes below:We explore how watches found their way into James' world—not just as accessories, but as meaningful storytellers. James opens up about his journey from being outside the watch world to becoming one of its most open and enthusiastic collectors. We also talk about the timepieces that bridge generations, the beauty of his unique Bel Canto, and whether a future guitar-infused piece unique might be on the horizon. We also get his take on Christopher Ward's new Loco, tour-watch essentials, and explore the idea of being stewards of our watches for future wearers. But we go even deeper than just horology - we talk about the role of mentors, how his parents supported his early music career, the pressures of life on tour, and how mental health and creativity are so tightly interwoven.Check out James McVey's Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/jamesmcveyINSTAGRAM:Follow me:https://www.instagram.com/the_timist_IGSupport the showSUBSCRIBE TO MY YOUTUBE:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCBeDf0c0V70qISfpu_mHchw?sub_confirmation=1CONTINUE THE CONVERSATION ON INSTAGRAM:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/the_timist_IG

Hello, Campers! Once again it is April Fool's Day, which means that here at Countermelody, we're doing another in my “Alternate Universe Bel Canto” series. This year the featured diva is Olive Middleton, still remembered by a certain kind of opera lover who adores fearless singers who throw caution, technique, and discretion to the winds. In the case of Middleton, she became, late in life, the lead soprano of the La Puma Opera Company (officially titled the La Puma Opera Workshop), where she fearlessly undertook the most challenging soprano roles of the operatic repertoire. Today, as last year, I am joined by my friend the redoubtable Thomas Bagwell, whose love of bad taste and cringe-worthy artistic expression surpasses even mine. We have a rollicking conversation about Middleton, interspersed with choice live selections from La Puma in the 1960s. Along the way, we discuss the “so bad it's good” phenomenon and its manifestations in film, on stage, and on the printed page, including an abominably bad poem about Olive that Thomas specifically for this episode. In the end, we arrive at many conclusions, first and foremost that singers like Middleton were motivated, in the words of John Ardoin, “a love for singing, a love for music, a love for her audience. She disperses this primary element in unstinting fashion, sharing with her public a devotion to and pursuit of art that is surely without parallel.” If you have not yet experienced the force of nature (and mind over matter) that is Olive Middleton, you are in for a listening experience like none you have ever had! Countermelody is a podcast devoted to the glory and the power of the human voice raised in song. Singer and vocal aficionado Daniel Gundlach explores great singers of the past and present focusing in particular on those who are less well-remembered today than they should be. Daniel's lifetime in music as a professional countertenor, pianist, vocal coach, voice teacher, and journalist yields an exciting array of anecdotes, impressions, and “inside stories.” At Countermelody's core is the celebration of great singers of all stripes, their instruments, and the connection they make to the words they sing. By clicking on the following link (https://linktr.ee/CountermelodyPodcast) you can find the dedicated Countermelody website which contains additional content including artist photos and episode setlists. The link will also take you to Countermelody's Patreon page, where you can pledge your monthly or yearly support at whatever level you can afford.
