WE'RE NOT DEAD! After almost a year of sabbatical, the Frozen North Dinnercast is BACK and ready to get up in your ear-holes. We've got a full table tonight, minus series regular Nelson, who is busy having kids. But wait--taking his place is newcomer Brian, who we hope to have around more often. In this episode we talk about the usual random stuff, including Space Jam, Looney Tunes, Up, and the fact that Gina hates everything that's good and wholesome. If you like the show, send us an email at crosstawk@gmail.com or leave a comment at the website (crosstawk.com). You can also tweet at us: Marcus is @Marchaos1 and Zach is @zmiller1902. And if you REALLY like us, we'd love it if you'd take a minute to review us (highly) on iTunes. Thanks, and enjoy the show!
We've got another thrilling episode of the Frozen North Dinnercast, folks! This time, Courtney was too busy shopping to join us, so she was replaced (handily) by Zach's wife Gina and her brother, Justin! You may remember Justin from WAY back in Episode 11, when he discussed panda bears and why they're stupid. Today, we discuss things like fishing in Seward, that one movie with Denzel Washington and Dakota Fanning, and old gaming memories. Also, Marcus ruins a few TV shows even though he insists that didn't happen (it did). Like the show? Email us and let us know at crosstawk@gmail.com, or leave a comment on the website! You can also follow Marcus and Zach on Twitter--@Marchaos1 and @zmiller1902, respectively. See you next time, True Believers!
Reports of Crosstawk's untimely demise have been exaggerated. Not necessarily GREATLY exaggerated, but you know. This is the first episode of the Frozen North Dinnercast in a month, and for that I apologize, but you should know that it's a long show that will make up for any withdrawal you may be going through! Among the topics discussed are Dave Foley, smelly baby shits, smelly ADULT shits, and the Right to Bear Cheese. There is much hilarity! Email us at crosstawk@gmail.com and let us know how awesome we are, or follow Marcus (@Marchaos1) and Zach (@zmiller1902) on Twitter. All you iTunes users should run--don't walk--to iTunes and rate and review us, as it helps new listeners find our horrible show. See you next time!
This episode of the Frozen North Dinnercast is too big to believe. It's a whopping two hours long, and all 120 minutes that is a complete and utter waste of your time, but you know you want it. Although it wasn't the case when this was recorded, the Frozen North has now thawed, and future episodes may yet take place in outdoor venues. It's a scary time. Many things are discussed, as usual: farting at the office, Seven Psychopaths (some spoilers, kinda), Marcus' beat-ass Saturn, Courtney's obsession with Forrest Gump, and various other...nonesensical things. Hey, you like the show, right? Drop up an email to let us know at crosstawk@gmail.com, or on Twitter @zmiller1902, @Marchaos1, or even @Crosstawk! Crazy, right? You can also go to the website (crosstawk.com) and leave comments on the episode's post. That's just nuts. NUTS! THE FUTURE, PEOPLE! So yeah, do that. And...join us next time, when Marcus says "I'm not wearing any pants."
BECAUSE NOBODY DEMANDED IT. It's a brand-spanking new episode of the Frozen North Dinnercast with the regular crew, back for more auditory abuse. We compare our food to penises, Nelson & Marcus recount a memorable night in California, Zach's evil plans involving Trinidad Scorpions, how much we hate Taylor Swift, and (for some gawdawful reason), The Walking Dead. Apparently everybody on the goddamn planet is yet again obsessed with zombies, but Zach refuses to cave. Just as Nelson and Courtney refuse to jump on the Twitter bandwagon, Zach refuses to give AMC the time of day. Maybe they could release new seasons of Mad Men more than once every TWO YEARS (I'm not bitter). Like the show? How could you not? Profess said love in an email, handwritten, scanned to a PDF, and sent to crosstawk@gmail.com. You can also leave a comment on this very post! We read everything we get, folks, so don't be shy. If you're one of the cool kids, you can follow Marcus (@Marchaos1) and Zach (zmiller1902) on Twitter, because Twitter is the future. Finally, take a minute to rate us on iTunes sometime. It helps people find the show and makes all of us feel special. And don't just listen to this terribly-produced show--Crosstawk has plenty of other awesome podcasts. No, really! Just scroll down the page. See you next time, faithful listeners!
Hey, folks, sorry for the slight delay. The last episode of BOP, which covered all of the films for the holiday season, ended up being our longest yet, but the honor was short-lived, because I'm very proud to present Episode 47, which is even LONGER! In the first segment, we go over four upcoming films for a round of Trailer Trash, but it's all abour segments two and three, which cover our Top Films of 2012! Our annual year-in review episodes are always a highlight, and this time's no exception! And remember, folks, Episode 50 is right around the corner, so please send in your thoughts, questions and favorite films to us for the Listener Mail Extravaganza! You can drop us a line via email (crosstawk@gmail.com), Twitter (@crosstawk) or in the comments section on the site! Thanks for listening, folks. We should have a new episode of Frozen North Dinnercast up any day now!
No updates required to enjoy our WiiU day 1 impressions, and it comes with a free Halbred! Step right up and enjoy the latest gaming goodness from the Nintendo Free Radio crew. Stephen gets the now-traditional music game out of the way early in New Business by touching on the Ubisoft creation app Jam Sessions, which draws comparisons to Windows 3.1, before getting stuck with Austen on the latest Nintendo RPG/platformer hybrid Paper Mario Sticker Star. Donald accepts his WiiU-less fate by going ungodly old school with Donkey Kong: Original Edition (it's a CEMENT factory, thankyouverymuch) and shockingly doesn't want to punch himself out after partaking in Urban Champion (3D Classics), before wrapping with an extended and spirited discussion of the demo for Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion. Austen brings us to the break with a wrap-up of Assassin's Creed 3: Liberation, proof that one can play Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 without having to deal with the average internet user, and unleashes holy hell (and man beams) in El Shaddai: Ascension Of The Metatron. After the break, a wild Halbred appears as the crew ropes in Nintendo World Report features editor Zach Miller for a heavy round of Whatcha Been Watchin' that travels from the sewers of New York in TMNT 2012 to the local arcade for Wreck-It Ralph and wraps in London with Sherlock Holmes In The 22nd Century, Goldeneye, QI, and Where On Earth is Carmen Sandiego? Also included: The finals of the "Weirdest Anime Ever" contest, between FLCL and Hellsing Ultimate. Since this show was taped on November 18th, of course the feature discussion is Wii U: Day 1. Zach and Stephen both got their systems day 1, and despite the best efforts of upgrade servers manage to touch on the Wii transfer process, the eShop, and Stephen's early impressions of Nintendoland. An extra helping of Mushrooms takes us out with love for This Year Collection (http://www.thisyearcollection.org) and free dumping, hatred of Alaskan rocks, and a host falling on his sword (but recovering to help unlock Red Velvet). We will return in a couple of weeks, but you can leave feedback for the show here or by sending an email to nintendofreeradio@gmail.com. Also, be sure to check out the Movember page of Ryan MacNeil (Donald's roommate) at http://mobro.co/ryanmacneil1 and hear Zach regularly on NWR's Connectivity and the Frozen North Dinnercast at Crosstawk (http://www.crosstawk.com/newbusiness/category/the-frozen-north-dinnercast). This podcast was edited by Austen Parkin. All music is copyrighted to their original owners and is used under fair use protection.
It finally happened. After months of successfully putting it off, we were all forced to talk about...books. We talk about books for over two hours. Zach, Gina, Nelson, Marcus, and Courtney all give their Top Five books in this epic bookcast. Take notes--you may want to read a few of these. More than anything else, we learn that books are Marcus' absolute favorite storytelling medium, at towards the end, he goes on a Terry Pratchett tear that lasts for what seems like half the episode. But then Zach talks about a dinosaur book for way too long, so it all evens out. Not much else to say: this episode is strangely focused. What are your Top Five books? Do any them have to do with a certain Frog and/or Toad? Or a Paddington Bear? Let us know in the comments! Or you can email us at crosstawk@gmail.com. You can subscribe to the show on iTunes, of course--where you should also rate us (nicely). If you like the Frozen North Dinnercast, you might also like the other Crosstawk shows, like Box Office Poison, Discover Music Project, and...once in a blue moon...Crosstawk Comics! And if you like hearing Zach's smooth baritone, which was affected by swollen vocal chords this episode, you should check out his other show, NWR Connectivity, which is NOT about books. I swear.
Hey, folks, and welcome to a brand new episode of BOP! This time, Jonny, Jon, Mike and Karl discuss Ted, The Five Year Engagement, ESPN's The U, The Dictator and more. Then, in the second segment, we've got an excellent batch of Trail Trash, including discussions on The Master, Killing Them Softly, Sleepwalk with Me and 007: Skyfall. Have some thoughts you'd like to share? Let us know via email (crosstawk@gmail.com), Twitter (@crosstawk) or in the comments section on the site. And please head on over to iTunes and leave us a rating/review. We'd surely appreciate it. Thanks for listening, guys! We'll see you soon for a new Frozen North Dinnercast and yet another new episode of BOP!
Episode 12 of the Frozen North Dinnercast proves to be the most epic podcast of all time. In addition to the regular band of misfits, we've got two East Coast who didn't know any better: all the way from NWR Connectivity, which is Zach's other podcast, comes Neal Ronaghan and his lovely wife Lauren. Couldn't get a better bunch of people together. I'm not saying this show was difficult to edit, but it DID require editing, which is unusual. Beer was consumed, and topics of unspoken social taboos came up. I'm not sure a bunch of white people can discuss this hilarious YouTube video starring Troy Barnes, but it WAS, and I cut that shit out of the show. So there's THAT. But you know what? We talked about other things instead, like Wes Anderson's Batman movie (thanks to Crosstawk Comics for that brilliant spoof. Then there's something about Superman choking a bitch, false allegations that Zach doesn't know how to fucking read, an incredible feature film starring the incomparible Vanilla Ice, a hair-licking cat, and a certain Rob Zombie song that was EVERYWHERE in the 90's. Like the show? Of course you do. You should leave a note on the website (www.crosstawk.com) or sit down and take five minutes to rate and review us on iTunes because happiness is what powers our souls, like Care Bears but with more booze. You can follow most of us on Twitter: Zach @zmiller1902, Marcus @Marchaos1, Neal @nron10, and you can try to follow Lauren @sohavewe but don't be surprised if she completely ignores you. As usual, Gina, Nelson, and Courtney remain ever vigilent in their off-hand dismissal of that superior social media platform.
After back-to-back game shows, it's good to get back into the swing of things with a normal "bullshitting" episode of the Frozen North Dinnercast. It's the 11th hour of the 11th episode, so we take it up to 11! This week finds yet ANOTHER new co-host: Justin Marolf, just in from California (and boy are his arms tired). As usual, the topics runs a certain gammut, including whether or not the film Cloverfield sucks (yes), SDCC, and man, how much do pandas suck? Pandas, by the way, really are bears. The taxonomic myth is that they're somehow related to the red panda because they both have "thumbs" which are actually modified carpals, but in fact red pandas are closer to raccoons and giant pandas are bears. At some point during this show, things take a turn towards Box Office Poison--another Crosstawk show you should be listening to. We'll be back again in two weeks, probably with another usual episode. If you have any special requests, drop us a line at crosstawk@gmail.com or leave a comment on the site. You can subscribe to us on iTunes (as if you don't already) by looking up Crosstawk or Frozen North Dinnercast. Finally, you can follow Marcus (@Marchaos1) and Zach (@zmiller1902) on Twitter. Our other FND co-hosts are too proud to admit how fucking awesome Twitter is.
Everybody loves kung-fu-fighting! And also Jeopardy. Due to extremely high* demand, Frozen North Dinnercast is back with another thrilling episode of Jeopardy, co-hosted (and co-written) by Zach and Marcus. The usual cast is around, of course, including Courtney and Nelson (our Returning Champsion), but also Luke Miller, who you may remember from the last episode, and fresh eat Brittney, who gets the most important question of the game right. Who wins? Who loses? You'll just have to slog through the whole show to find out--but I guarantee it's not me or Marcus. *unbelievably low Like what you hear? Rate us on iTunes, or email the show at crosstawk@gmail.com. You can also leave a comment in the show notes at www.crosstawk.com! Follow me on Twitter @zmiller1902, or Marcus @Marchaos1. The rest of the group is too "good" for Twitter. Whatever, guys, it's like Facebook without the bullshit game requests.
It's episode Lucky Number Sleven of the Frozen North Dinnercast, minus the awesome casting (and stunningly obvious twist). Special Guest Luke Nielson joins us on this episode--you may remember Luke as the latecomer from Episode 2. Many things are discussed, among them M.I.A., prostate cancer, and "baby meltdowns." All this is done in an overarching discussion of Man Rules, which are actually rules for women about men. Although there's one rule in there for women...it's probably a typo. At any rate, sit back and enjoy this episode, then leave a nice comment on the post at www.crosstawk.com or rate us highly on the podcast feed on iTunes.
After an unexpected hiatus, Frozen North Dinnercast is once again all up in yo' grill. This time around, the gang of four discuss such things as food, what we're hungry for, stuff we haven't eaten in a long time, and restaurants where you can get really good things to eat. I guess everybody was hungry this week. We also try to formalize our outro this week, to hilarious results.
Can you believe it's Episode 5 already? This week on The Frozen North Dinnercast, our favorite Alaskans decided to keep things light. After all, nothing sours an appetite like bad news. So kick back, grab an ice cold beer, a sandwich and perhaps a loved one if you're so inclined and pull up a chair. It's time to feast. And when you're done, make sure you leave us a review on iTunes. Crosstawk can only grow with your help and that's the best way to show your appreciation. You can also contact us via email (crosstawk@gmail.com), Twtter (@crosstawk) and in the comments section on the site. See you later in the week for a new Discover Music Project and the return of Rough Draught: The Beer Appreciation Show!
Hello and welcome to a brand new episode of Box Office Poison, the podcast all about movies and movie things! This time, Jonny and Mike had to step out to take care of some business (skiing and boyfriend duties, respectively), so it's just Jon, Stan and myself on this episode. And since we hadn't seen anything of particular note in this deadzone of movie releases, we went ahead and skipped straight to Trailer Trash. But what a Trailer Trash it was! We discussed The Amazing Spider-Man, The Bourne Legacy, The Three Stooges (unfortunately) and wrapped things up with The Hunger Games. What did you think of these trailers? Let us know via email (crosstawk@gmail.com, Twitter (@crosstawk) or in the comments section on the site. And when you're done there, head on over to iTunes and leave us a review. See you guys later in the week for a brand new Frozen North Dinnercast, Discover Music Project and the long-overdue return of Rough Draught!
Ahoy there! It's time for yet another episode of the podcast that's all about movies and movie things, Box Office Poison! This week, Jon unfortunately couldn't make it to the show, but we've got plenty else to discuss, from Chronicle to Take Shelter to even Rocky III and some odd documentary called Beer Tickers. Then, in the second segment, we discuss our Movie of the Month, Paper Moon. Did we all enjoy this black-and-white take on Depression-era underage grifting? You'll have to listen in to find out. And for those of you who like to play along, our March Movie of the Month is going to be Woody Allen's second-highest grossing film of all time, Hannah and Her Sisters. As per usual folks, you can contact us via email (crosstawk@gmail.com), Twitter (@crosstawk) or in the comments section on the website. And when you're done there, I'd surely appreciate you heading on over to iTunes and leaving us a kind review. It's the best way for us to grow our audience, and it's the best way for you to support the podcast. Thanks for listening, guys! We'll see you next week for a new Frozen North Dinnercast and a fresh episode of Discover Music Project!
It's double-time this week on The Frozen North Dinnercast as Zach combines two episodes in one to give you a double-dipping of local Alaskan flavor. Can you deal with that much northern exposure? You'll have to listen to find out. Have something to tell the Frozen North Dinnercast? Let them know via email (crosstawk@gmail.com), Twitter (@crosstawk) or in the comments section on the site. Come back on Friday for a brand new episode of Discover Music Project co-starring Jon Rind!
Because you demanded it! The Frozen North Dinnercast's pilot on Crosstawk Presents had an amazing reception, and as such, it's been graduated to regular series! From here on out, every other Tuesday, you'll be treated to cold-weather dining. This week, the crew's talking to you from an actual diner. Babies crying, silverware clanging back and forth and the hustle and bustle of a crowded restaurant can all be heard. But above all else, the jibber-jabber of our favorite Alaskans prevails. Want to comment on something you heard on FND? Let us know via Twitter (@crosstawk), via email (crosstawk@gmail.com) or in the comments section on the site. Thanks for listening, folks!
Hello and welcome to a brand new episode of Box Office Poison. Jon Rind unfortunatley wasn't around to record for this episode, but there are still plenty of movies and movie thing to talk about. In the first segment, there's tons of year-end flicks to go over, from Tintin to Ghost Protocol to Girl With the Dragon Tattoo to Young Adult to even Dogtooth, Attack the Block and Pitch Black! Then, in the second segment, we get together for another round of Trailer Trash and discuss Prometheus, The Dark Knight Rises, GI Joe: Retaliation and The Hobbit. It might be the best collection of trailers yet, so you don't want to miss it. We'll be back in two weeks for our Movie of the Month, Withnail and I, which you can catch at any time on Netflix Instant. In the mean time, if you've got any thoughts, questions or concerns, you can let us know via email (crosstawk@gmail.com), Twitter (@crosstawk) or in the comments section on the site. And if you haven't listened yet, make sure you hit up the pilot for our latest show, The Frozen North Dinnercast, hosted by our good friend Zach Miller. Thanks for listening, everybody! This upcoming Tuesday, Hardcore Nerdography makes its much-awaited return!
It's the first new Crosstawk series of 2012! From the cold, bitter wasteland known as Alaska comes The Frozen North Dinnercast! You'll recognize its Master of Ceremonies, Zach Miller, from NintendoWorldReport.com's Newscast and Connectivity. Every two weeks, he and his buddies Nelson, Marcus and Courtney will gather around the dinner table and shoot the shit. The shit they're shooting this time is their Top 10 Favorite Movies of All Time, and they're apparently chowing down on bacon cheeseburgers and chicken breast. Have some thoughts on the FND? Let us know via Twitter (@crosstawk), via email (crosstawk@gmail.com) or in the comments section on the site. Thanks for listening to this very special pilot, folks! Come back tomorrow for a new episode of Box Office Poison!
