Holy crap you guys.  This movie was insane.......ly bad.  GI RETALIATION was a sequel but also a soft reboot? A reboot of what?  The movie they made 4 years before in 2009?  Why?  It was confusing, it was exciting, it made Kaity wanna turn it off countless times.  But my goodness did we have so much fun recording this episode.  We talked about learning musical instruments during a pandemic.  The Rock's iron paradise flying gym, coworkers, and ripped asian dudes.  Check this one out. 

My guest today is Jason Soudah a Composer/Singer-Songwriter/Producer/Mix Engineer from the UK, and has been based in Los Angeles since 2009, when he was invited to intern at Hans Zimmer’s studio complex.  Jason was quickly recruited by composer Matthew Margeson (Rocketman, Kingsman: The Secret Service & The Golden Circle, Rings), and they have been collaborating ever since.   In this “additional music” capacity, Jason has also worked with composers Henry Jackman, Dominic Lewis, Heitor Pereira, Jim Dooley, Al Clay, Daniel Heath, Benjamin Wallfisch, and Ryan Taubert, among many.  As a composer Jason recently won the Best Music Award at the 2019 Boston Film Festival for his score to the movie "Whaling," as well as scoring the multi-award winning Horror Feature "FOLLOWED", and the Emmy-Awarded Documentary Feature “Paradise Reef: The World Is Watching.”   Jason has had songs featured on MTV (The Real World, Teen Mom…). He wrote “A Sporting Chance” for the movie “Eddie The Eagle,” “Ladyphones” for the movie “GI-JOE: Retaliation,” and co-wrote “Handy Candy” for the movie “Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children” with composers Matthew Margeson and Mike Higham.  Right now, Jason is writing music for multiple film projects, mixing scores (most recently for BAFTA-supported composer Emily Rice), and collaborating with other songwriters and artists (as a co-writer and/or producer) with a view to creating songs for synch licenses, for the artist/s themselves, or to be cut by other artists.  Jason also produces backing tracks for KIDZ BOP, collaborating with Gary Philips. The jabronis discuss 2013’s G.I. Joe: Retaliation, and it’s a doozy. This movie has ninjas, soldiers, an imposter president, Bruce Willis (for five minutes) and Channing Tatum (for six minutes). There are more characters here than you can shake a tungsten rod at. Is the plot convoluted? Of course. Is it worth your time? If your name is Jordan Rummel, nope. This is the most polarizing movie Charlie and Jordan have covered so far and you’re going to want to weigh in.

We're kicking off 2015 with a big budget movie that was so....good, they made us wait 10 extra months to see it!  It can't be THAT bad...can it?  Oh, well.  Go Joe!

We've unofficially dubbed May as "The Month of Marvel" and to celebrate, we have a brand new podcast.  Don't call it a regular release, or you might jinx us! Parris and Jay spend a few minutes catching up.  We talk about the recent Episode VII announcements, and Parris cycles back on the recently rebooted Robocop.   Godzilla's recent arrival in theaters piqued Parris' curiousity and we talk about the latest take on a classic franchise.  Thankfully, it's nowhere near as bad as the Matthew Broderick era. Then we hit the meat & potatoes of our show:  The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and X-Men: Days of Future Past.   After a release like Captain America: The Winter Solder, Sony and Fox have a lot of competition in the Marvel universe.  And we're here to tell you why Spidey is already in need of another reboot, and why we liked Days of Future Past. But that's not all!  Parris actually managed to watch the entirety of GI Joe: Retaliation.  We can only assume that some kind of hypnosis was in effect because WOW... that movie is a train wreck.  And speaking of train wrecks, Transformers 4 is looking like it's going to live up to the standards of Transformers 3! Which is to say, the trailers look terrible.  I mean really, Optimus Prime riding Grimlock?  Yeesh.
