We've bagged another Aussie! This week it's someone who brings the (Queensland) Fire and never feels the (Brisbane) Heat. Yep, you guessed it, Georgie and Alex have been chatting with Georgia Redmayne and occupying her recovery time after a season ending injury in the WBBL. Not only is she a super cricketer, Georgia is a qualified doctor - helpful for self-diagnosis. She chats all about her injury, an Aussie call-up, franchise cricket, and winning awards along the way. She's determined to get on with her rehab and we can't wait to see her back out on the pitch without the ankle boot accessory. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/womens-cricket-chat/message
We have tons to talk about! England have announced their new head coach, Jon Lewis not to be mistaken for the other Jon Lewis or the department store John Lewis. The Hundred has announced a draft for the women which begs the question should we copy the men's game? Former Ireland player, Kim Garth is in the Australia squad for their upcoming series in India. The Blaze (Cricket with Purpose) replaces Lightning and have announced their contracts. Lauren Winfield-Hill is back in the England squad but there's no room for Bryony Smith or Maia Bouchier. Katherine Brunt will not feature in England's ODIs but herself, Nat Sciver and Heather Knight are back. In the WBBL, Laura Harris' strike rate has been through the roof and Georgia Redmayne celebrated too hard, injuring her achilles, which of course, she made a meme about. It all comes down to the final as Strikers take on Sixers! We also chat to Ireland's Jane Maguire all about the Pakistan series, the World Cup and more. We will be back next week with Ireland's teenage superstar, Amy Hunter who is set to feature in both the U19 World Cup and the Women's T20 World Cup in South Africa but in the meantime, our Instagram, TikTok & YouTube is “Noughtie Child Podcast” and our Twitter is “00ChildPodcast” so feel free to give those a follow to stay up to date!

The international summer of cricket is almost upon us and the Scoop Cricket Podcast is back! On the first episode of the season, hosts Laura Jolly and Emily Collin are joined by Georgia Redmayne. Fresh off a stint in the U.K. playing in The Hundred with the Welsh Fire, Georgia chats about receiving a phone call from national selector Shawn Flegler in the middle of the night as well as how it felt to realise a long held dream of breaking into the Australian squad.Georgia also shares some recommendations that she's been enjoying in hotel quarantine and takes a trip into the archives with our 'career quiz'.Ahead of Australia's multi-format series against India starting on 21 September, make sure to keep up to date with all the latest news via cricket.com.au or the CA Live app.
Georgia Redmayne had a chat with Damian Watson about playing in The Hundred and being called up to the Australian Women's Cricket Squad.
A really strong- and balanced-looking squad on paper, with the headlines definitely being grabbed by the return of the legendary Sarah Taylor. Sune Luus, Georgia Redmayne, Bryony Smith and Sophie Luff add plenty of depth at the top of the order, although Rich and Oli might be right to question the quality of Tom's research! The bowling attack looks decent too, perhaps spearheaded by Katie George or 'The New Katherine Brunt'. Might the two games between Welsh Fire and Southern Brave be the games that decide who will win the first ever iteration of The Hundred? This is The Hundred Club, cricket's new fan community. The incredibly talented Georgia Redmayne ditches the wicketkeeping gloves and joins us for a chat! She has played all over Australia and overseas so is well qualified to discuss the best tea options and why she believes the phrase "wettest summer ever" is overused in England. . Georgia's running and diving style come into question but she also tells a stunning story about her a double hat-trick in under 12s which restores her confidence. Georgia is a doctor (real one as Leigh establishes) and has a handy trick that she self-prescribed for how to keep playing after breaking a finger on the cricket field. Dr Redmayne was dobbed in by her teammates for loving red wine. Dr Red-wine they call her! The Beyond Beetroot Superfood Elixir, available from Alchemy Cordial Australia, is another red coloured beverage that you should try! Check out the rest of their range here. Today’s guest tops the lot when it comes to the jaw-dropping balance she manages to strike between playing professional cricket and maintaining a professional career.Georgia Redmayne has been on the state scene for 7 years now. She's played for NSW, Tasmania, Queensland, as well as the Hurricanes, the Scorchers and the Heat – not to mention appearances for Australia A.In Women’s List A cricket she averages 53 with the bat, with 6 tonnes and 8 fifties to her name. In T20s she averages 24 with 8 fifties. Not content with that, she balances it with keeping too, with 76 catches and 44 stumpings across both formats. In 2017-18 she was awarded Cricket Australia's Betty Wilson Young Cricketer of the Year, and you’ll struggle to believe how she’s achieved all of this while doing the job that she does. This interview is part of our special series, Life Outside Cricket, where we catch up with Australian cricketers and try to get under the hood of their life and careers beyond cricket. Who knew they had lives outside the game, often possessing knowledge and interest in matters beyond wickets and runs? We’re doing this in conjunction with the Australian Cricketers Association in promotion of Careers Week, promoting the economic, social and personal benefits of career development for all Australians.
