Guests. Stories. Laughs. Sport. Your weekly mix and entertainment fix with a couple of absolute di ... good blokes named Leigh, Sam and Mitch.
The We Got The Chocolates podcast is an absolute gem that I stumbled upon and it has become one of my favorite shows to listen to. From their hilarious dad jokes videos on Facebook to their entertaining podcast episodes, this group of Australian friends never fails to make me laugh.
One of the best aspects of this podcast is the chemistry between the hosts. Leighthal, Skin, Mickus, and Gode have a fantastic dynamic and their banter is infectious. Their genuine friendship shines through in every episode and it feels like you're just hanging out with a group of mates having a good time. The jokes are top-notch and the laughter is contagious. It's pure fun and entertainment from start to finish.
Another great aspect of this podcast is its ability to introduce listeners to the world of cricket. As an American who knew nothing about cricket before listening, I appreciate how they make the sport accessible and entertaining for newcomers. They have sparked my curiosity and I've even started watching cricket matches on YouTube because of them. Their passion for the sport is infectious and it adds another layer of enjoyment to the show.
Now, onto the worst aspects (if any) of this podcast. While I personally don't have any major complaints, I can understand how some non-Australian listeners may struggle with understanding all the Aussie slang and references that are made throughout the episodes. However, I believe that even if you don't catch every word or reference, there's still plenty of humor to enjoy.
In conclusion, The We Got The Chocolates podcast is an absolute winner in my book. It never fails to put a smile on my face and provides a much-needed escape from reality with its humor and lightheartedness. Whether you're a cricket fan or not, this podcast is worth checking out for a good laugh and some quality entertainment. Give it a listen and get ready to join in on the fun!
Skin and Eloise were married last week just ten short years after meeting each other. We speak to both of them about the whirlwind nature of their relationship and tell some of the more humorous stories from the night. It was also only fitting to partake in a 'Love Song' themed 'Lyric Substitut-Skin' in honour of the week's events. Leigh has found a new sporting curse that is prevalent at the moment and Gode is all over a different one that has been going for some time. And finally there are just some words that cannot say... in our game of Taboo. We wouldn't be able to make this episode firstly without the support of our sponsors, and secondly without your support. Skin has had a blunder when travelling to the studio which leads to Gode and Leigh reminiscing about Gode using cable ties in a unique way! Leigh and Skin recently played an Aussie Rules game and were sledged mercilessly by onlookers! Gode's favourite segment, Letter Change the Plot, provides some of the best movie title adaptations we have heard! Leigh presents the boys with a new Namestorm opportunity for a Crayfish and Gode and Skin go wild trying to rename them! We are coming fresh off Skin's Bucks weekend and there are many tales that need to be told! Leigh, Mickus and Gode came up with the brilliant plan to dress Skin up as a Prince whilst the rest of the group were his Alberts (Einsteins)! After a long weekend in Byron Bay we felt we needed to talk you through complex Snorkelling Apparatus, the Piano Bar and the Miracle of Pavement. Leigh received an email this week that required the team's undivided attention as they hunted for solutions to the flagged scenario. Skin has also had a blinder when it comes to his latest wedding job from Eloise which leads to the longest car journey home you could imagine! The team play Humdog Millionaire again this week and Gode makes some bold claims about some of the most iconic songs in history! Leigh, Skin, Mickus and Dizzle (Leigh & Skins Mum) also try their hand at some tongue twisters where Mickus dominates and shows the boys just how it's done! After receiving a lot of comments about Skin looking far far older than 27, Leigh took it upon himself to try and rebuild his self esteem... this backfired! Skin did use the week to look into Bryan Johnson and his attempts at slowing down the ageing process though, and he has some key findings. Leigh puts on an absolute masterclass in pun making with a couple of very fast thinking one liners that leave Gode in tears (again)! Mickus is also on hand to help all you marathon runners figure out how and when to make the most efficient pit stop during your races this year. One of our favourite episodes. It was Eloise's birthday recently and Skin's excuse for forgetting it is cringeworthy to say the least! Eloise joins us this week and reveals what actually went down on that infamous day! Gode also has one of those classic, "Why did I just say that?" moments at the Barber this week and Leigh dobs Mickus in for making a very similar mistake! Skin and Dave the Brit (that knows jack shit) went to the Formula 1 this week and had some interesting interactions with people... shock horror... but notably with F1 driver Oscar Piastri! Finally Mickus, Skin and Leigh headed to Super Rooster in Toowoomba to check out the "Best Hot Chip in the World." Skin kicks us off with a fantastic story that you leave you wondering how it is possible to forget something of this nature! Obviously the rest of the gang jump on this to roast Skin… and by everyone we mainly mean Gode. Leigh is self proclaimed best on ground in this week's episode with a number of quick one liners that even catch Gode off guard. Unfortunately Mickus didn't get the memo and gets a stern telling off for not giving Leigh the credit he deserves! Skin had one job for his wedding and went all out for his planning efforts. Leigh, Gode and Mickus have confirmed that they will be performing Skin's favourite Lyric Substituskin at the wedding and they add some more classics to the books for Skin to consider! Gode is stumped at Mickus' choice to not wear headphones from the start of the pod leading to the Joke of the week segment being derailed for a serious length of time. Mickus turned 30 this week and there was a particular theme to his party which may be mentioned in the title. The big question is... will Gode give the dress up theme the green light! The boys have been challenged to come up with a name for a Coffee Machine which leads to some of the longest Namestorm options in We Got The Chocolates history! Eloise and Rochelle expressed interest in doing their own "Ladies Night" podcast episode and we were like, "Oh how nice they are taking an interest in our work." With the amount of time it took Skin to edit the marathon video, we sort of stupidly forgot about that prank we had pulled on them and therefore opened ourselves up to an ambush!Hope you enjoy their revenge plan and let us know if they need their own spin off show
"Embrace imperfections" is a motto/ podcast rule that we have run with for quite some time now however, in this week's episode, Mickus produces one of the greatest imperfections we have seen! Leigh and Gode get so off track on pun runs on two particular occasions that no one is really even sure what Gode ends up saying! Skin is at his usual hateful best when it comes to the puns. Skin is also pressed for some guesses about what type of guy Pythagoras was, and how many times we can use his theorem throughout an episode. There is a nice amount of pizazz in this episode and we can't quite put our finger on the reason as to why. Perhaps it is because the infamous marathon video is finally out on YouTube. It seems to have loosened Skin up a bit in particular. Unfortunately Gode is feeling slightly lighter in the pocket this week courtesy of some shopping by his daughter. Apparently he isn't the only parent that has had this situation occur. We also have some cracking new movies that we simply must get out and film! Welcome back! In something close to the words from Fall Out Boy, let's take over because the break's over. Last of this Good Chat series of conversations and it isn't the shortest episode but it is with the shortest person... Leighthal. What shaped his ridiculous sense of humour, why can he bowl with both arms and why did he move to Adelaide. The man who usually drives the podcast is now in the passenger seat being asked plenty of questions about himself. It's a reasonable chat... a 'Good Chat' you might even say!Oh P.s. Ever wondered how Skin got his nickname? Or wondered what his real name actually is? Well this is the episode for you. It isn't ridiculous to say that Skin is the most intellectually inclined member of We Got The Chocolates. He has a Bachelor of Science which he has gone onto use regularly in his daily life and he had a very keen eye for entrepreneurship in his younger years. Despite this, he was essentially a superstar Rugby League player as a 12 year old before his career was cruelly cut short by lack of interest.Enjoy Skin's good chat. Gode is one of our favourite humans obviously. Great cricketer, great dad but most importantly he is brilliant off the cuff and can tell a story with the best of them. We have been looking forward to sitting down with him and having a 'Good Chat'. He tells us how he managed to impress his love interest as a skinny red head, wha he believes to be the most difficult part of parenting and what actually happened around that notorious debut story. We have appreciated the feedback on these episodes so far so we hope you enjoy this one as much as we did. Love you ❤️Oh P.s. We went to the Gabba for our 200th Ep celebration and things went... swimmingly. That's a really clever joke that you will get once you have listened. It was great to get the opportunity to celebrate our 200th Episode after 214 episodes. We brought some of the unluckiest Choccies we know along for the occasion so we captured their thoughts on all subjects from the David Beckham scandal to whether 10,000 rats is a wise choice in an animal kingdom battle! We also use this episode to recap just how unlucky some of the entrants were. Please enjoy!Oh P.s. We went to the Hunter Valley recently and used the down time as a way to learn more about each other. The hope was simply that you would get a chance to learn a bit more about each person outside of what you hear on the weekly We Got The Chocolates podcast. Mickus was first to take centre stage. He is a wedding videographer, loves surfing and building lego but there is also plenty more to know about this great man!Hope you enjoy this relaxed chat with the guy responsible for filming the content you see... but also responsible for 90% of the laughs you hear!Oh P.s. This episode is Christmas. You have probably never heard Reindeer mentioned so many times in one podcast episode ever in your life but we are so okay with that for one week of the year. We find out just how generous of a guy Mickus can be when it comes to shouting a round! Crashing your car is potentially unlucky enough but crashing your car into your girlfriend's car in the main street of a town just seems ridiculous, but not for one particular Choccie! We are not sure if an episode has ever been directly named after Mickus but we were pretty sure that his efforts on the weekend meant that this one needed to be. He attended the Better Beer 'Day For It' party and after telling us that he would be leaving early, he tucked into a large one. You heard correctly, we are heading across to the new studio (Nudio), but not before we did one final episode in the space where everything kicked off. We use this episode to take a little trip down memory lane and look back at some of the... well we wouldn't say highlights but maybe like "pivotal moments". Eloise and Rochelle join us to shed some light on what happened with this whole, "Being tricked into running a half marathon situation". It wasn't the most uplifted we have ever felt on the podcast. Which is quite concerning considering we record with Gode every week! We have a request to name a genuine human child... and we come through with the goods obviously. A Choccie sends in a hypothetical that is tailored specifically for Mickus. However, we really did not expect him to take it the direction he did! Is there any truth to the rumour that Leigh and Skin are incredibly talented and gifted painters? Is the new office space in ridiculously safe hands? Changing topic completely but still on the question train... does everyone shower in the morning? It is another week of delving deep to discover the answers to these types of questions. When we finished this episode we looked at each other in the eye and Mickus said, "I'm going because it's really late". However, we all know if he had of stayed for any longer he would have said, "That episode was a genuine banger". Nice feedback to receive but we would rather hear it from you to be honest. Skin has left Leighthal in charge of organising his Bucks Party/ Stag Do. He does't feel particularly confident leaving him responsible for anything that requires prior planning so Leighthal asked you for ideas... and we aren't sure if the Do's were very helpful but the Don'ts definitely were! Former AFL player and current podcasting guru, Dylan Buckley joins us as a cohost this week. Well actually we essentially just rocked up and used his studio whilst we were in Melbourne last weekend. So he kind of hosted us, but then we hosted him on the podcast. We got to speak to him about everything from Skin's anger when drinking to his mission with his podcast network. Okay Australia Zoo we have seriously saved you here. This episode contains a shortlist of the only names suitable for a Quokka. They are supreme. Gode saw some flying lawnmowers at the Beaudesert show last weekend, Skin and Leigh tried their hand at Mceeing an event with around 700 people in attendance and faced a few serious troubles and Mickus gives you a little too much information about how life works when you have two broken arms. There is also a cracking game to finish but it has no name, can you please help? Do you think you can refer to an entire city as a "lovely spot"? We are really thinking you can't after Skin's story this week. Jana is back on to confirm the age of her baby. We had one of the worst flying experiences imaginable despite the fact that said company are obviously 'great people'. Bios on Instagram and TikTok etc can be something we spend a lot of time thinking about, so in this episode we basically try to rule out lots of options! Here is how things went:0:30 - How old is the baby? 1:45 - Lovely Spot5:20 - Flying 12:23 - Joke of the Week16:00 - Snap or Snub26:53 - Would You Rather Bio37:40 - The Slogo Game43:00 - You're in for an XWe wouldn't be able to make this episode firstly without the support of our sponsors, and secondly without your support. Skin has a first job story that borders on maybe being against the law... we think. Make up your own mind because he recounts it in great detail! We speak to Kate McCarthy about the pressure of selecting the list of best players at the end of the game, and go over her theory as to why the Adelaide Crows weren't as angry as they should have been. We even have time to learn what the phrase 'clam jam' means! Keegan Hipgrave flew all the way from Sydney to Brisbane just to be on our podcast! That's not true at all but he did happen to be up here so he was kind enough to jump on for a chat. We felt like we could have spoken to him for hours to be honest. We cover the funniest moments from his career (including trying to put the moves on Payne Haas), why he had to medically retire from the game he loves and what he is doing now.He is an inspiring human trying to make a difference in an area that he feels incredibly passionate about. You can find out more about Keegan's new project here.We also again wouldn't be able to make this episode firstly without the support of our sponsors, and secondly without your support. It is no secret that we are often late, however Skin paid a signifcant price for trying to make us on time this week! We've been seeing lots of 'blind rankings' when it comes to sport, but have you ever heard a person blind rank a variety of miscellaneous food and beverages? Well you will in this episode. We butchered a few more songs and have a cracking new game. What a week on the tools. Naming tools must be a really hard job. That is something absolute we discovered in this episode. Leigh and Skin have a serious issue with lateness (or potentially just not arriving at all). We find out where butterflies come from and discover that training is actually key to being somewhat useful at sport! Plenty happening that is for sure and here is how it went: 00:55 - Trouble From Our Weekend07:30 - Joke of the Week12:00 - Social Sins & Wins17:22 - Namestorm for a Wena 25:05 - Being Late 36:00 - Google Feud40:20 - Wrap It UpWe wouldn't be able to make this episode firstly without the support of our sponsors, and secondly without your support. Annoying your partner, significant other or girl you are getting to know is a difficult skill to master, but we have a list of examples that are near perfect! We discuss whether going do the toilet during a phone call can be acceptable in any situation, and whether it is time for emojis to make their way into emails. We find a new friend of the show who claims he is a genius at movie trivia... and we genuinely think he is telling the truth. Jana is back and she is ready to decide whether our significant others have genuine reason for anger in regards to our annoying habits. Leigh has been embarrassing himself left, right and centre again which is hardly surprising. We actually think we have the best instalment of Nicknames for your mate yet! Finally, Jana makes her Taboo debut, and she has never experienced such extreme pressure. We are naming a boat this week and by the way we also have two requests to name real children! That surely says something about legitimacy of the Namestorm segment. Skin has an issue with exclamation points in titles, Mickus is the worst designated driver we have ever seen and Gode isn't remotely phased by the price of eggs skyrocketing. We also have a look at which stars have started their career on a talent show. Have you ever found yourself considering... if two famous people came across each other at an event, who would ask who for a photo? Well don't worry because we have thought about it for you. Leighthal talks us through a stitch up he experienced in his teaching days. Gode and Dascombe are best mates and somehow Gode generally manages to weave in a story about 'Dashy' every episode. Josh is over working in the USA on Major League Cricket but when he was back on a work trip (apparently) last year, we took the opportunity to record a podcast with him! Back then Major League Cricket seemed so far away from starting, however fast forwarding to today and it has already started with a bang!Enjoy this piece of bonus content as we attempt to strike the balance between telling many of the funny stories Dashy has contributed to our lives, but also getting some insight into the plan for introducing cricket to the US and how one of the masterminds behind it explains it to girls he goes on dates with!We wouldn't be able to make this episode firstly without the support of our sponsors, and secondly without your support. There is no question that none of us are known combatants and Gode's story from the weekend really highlights that. We talk through the training schedule for jingle practice and name a new fridge. We don't want to give much away here, but one of the fridge names is all time. Of course we also follow up on the Scoop School saga because that is just what we do... we get to the bottom of things... mainly the ladder in most sporting teams we play in. Can you run a marathon and not tell anyone about it? Well certainly not on this podcast so instead we unpack the immense pain we experienced. We found out Mickus is a stinking bloke and he doesn't even try to deny it. Jana is on for her first 'Lyric Substitut-Skin' experience. She doesn't think we are weird at all...We also go through some classic 'Would You Rather' scenarios and try to guess what people are asking Google! Good times. Join us on this rollercoaster ride as we revisit Mitch's incredible journey as a result of flirting with the dangers of the odds game! From the moment he took a huge L in podcast episode 170, to the unforgettable pinnacle where his piston was pierced, this bonus episode takes you on a wild ride. You will hear some of the moments you remember all too well, however we also sat Skin down and asked him to reflect on how he was feeling during these key moments. There are reactions from Eloise and Jana, cautionary tales and the things we heard in the room on piercing day, it is the full Prince Albert story arc... in one condensed episode. Get ready to grab your Lucky 27 shirt, available this Thursday 6th of July 2023, to commemorate this extraordinary tale of chance and bravery. (stupidity). Gode has a story about Leigh's keenness to save a dollar, there are plenty more nicknames for you to take to your workplace and we finally let you all know what we think of Baz Ball. Apparently no one is massively sold on the name though so we can feel a 'Namestorm' coming on! We brainstorm what items we would take if we were burglars and let you know when the new merch will be ready (although we are pretty sure we got the day wrong in hindsight... we are good). Leigh recounts his misadventures as a terrible Brisbane tour guide, while Mickus delivers a fantastic Race Car joke. There are some lively debates on bragging about your coffee shots for the day, and checking eggs before buying them. We also explore some peculiar terms thrown around when purchasing a TV and when filming ads and we think they will leave you scratching your head.
