So Reed has a big plan that he has developed with his less than trustworthy father, his over-intelligent and under-age daughter, and his mortal enemy. And he has invited his teams evilest villains into his house. What could possibly go wrong? Let us talk about all of the things that go wrong. The first thing is food. You always think you have enough food in the house before guests arrive, and then you realize that you forgot to make head-cheese. It is even worse when villains are involved. If you do not have their favorite brand of knock off soda, they will probably threaten to invade a small nation. The next is music. You need to have something on in the background, otherwise it just gets awkward. If you do not have some sweet sounds drifting behind the din (or lack of din) of conversation, there is the possibility that fighting will break out. This is a fact, music prevents bad guys from being bad. So, hook up that Wi-Fi set and play some funky music. As far as the guest list goes, you do need to be selective. You want to make sure you are inviting the respectable villains, not just your garden variety goombahs. Do not let the hairy hordes of Helena just rampage on your carpet. Be sure you know what evil you are letting in your front door. Oh, and for your information, Google Dictionary does not like the word 'goombah'. And if you do invite the wrong kind of people, or if you think you may have party crashers, you may want to hire bouncers. This can help regulate the level's of evil in your sitting room, not to mention your bathrooms. Of course, you will need to find some good bouncers. Check your local Angie's list for suggestions. If you do have a party with your enemies, be ready to face a little resentment from your friends. They may feel hurt or betrayed by your actions. This is normal and should be met with ignorance or shunning on your part. I mean...you obviously are smarter than they are and can make much better decisions. You know who your true friends are....they are your enemies. Jeez...read some Sun Tzu. Above all else, make your enemies happy. Make sure they are comfortable, that they feel at ease. Allow them into your home and your heart. Make it an evening they will never forget. Make them a key to your front door. Allow them to wear their shoes inside. Give them their choice of all your bedrooms. You might as well....they are probably going to kill you anyway.   Check out the artwork we talk about over at our website: https://jeffandrickpresent.wordpress.com/2023/04/22/episode-132-ff-4-the-beating-of-drums/(opens in a new tab)   We also have some merchandise over at Redbubble. The Plant Based Riot
Is Eating Meat Manly?

The Plant Based Riot

Join the Plant-Based Riot in welcoming very special guests from across the pond to discuss if eating meat promotes toxic masculinity. This week, the Riot talks with two plant-based blokes valiantly raising the vegan banner in England! We warmly welcome Kofi Smiles, host of the BBC's Humberside radio show, and Jordan Matfin, a founding member of The Vegan Man Club, to debate the ends and outs of diet and gender on a transatlantic scale! Episode 23- Is Eating Meat Manly? What is the definition of “manly?” What defines "a man? "Does the food we choose to eat, or perhaps not eat, have an implication on our masculinity? Well, in our current climate, it appears that ordering kale salad over cheesesteak sandwiches instantly knocks you down a few pegs on the masculinity scale. According to Google Dictionary, a manly man is one “having or denoting those good qualities traditionally associated with men, such as courage, strength, and spirit” or “befitting a man”. Sounds wonderful, doesn't it? It would seem that google dictionary recognizes a "man" as someone compassionate, epithetic and sympathetic. But in today's age of over branding, over marketing, and deceptive advertising, the simple act of eating has become a marketing tool used to appoint gender to a diet! And if you are a man that openly eats a plant-based diet, you can be assured that manhood will constantly be called into question. For far too long, vegans, especially vegan men, have been ridiculed for their dietary preferences, lifestyles, and choices to show compassion. If we look back to googles description of men, it would seem those vegan males, more so than their meat-eating counterparts, demonstrate "good qualities", "courage", "strength" and "spirit" simply by defying the American Man's traditional diet ladened with meat, cheese, bacon eggs, and dairy. It is obvious that eating mounds of meat have no bearing on anyone's masculinity. This notion is a campaign that has been constructed by advertisers, marketing agencies, and the meat industry in an effort to drive more units in the male demographic. If we are being 100% transparent, this industry-generated narrative should also include an amendment that informs "manly men" that they will also obtain obesity, cancer, and heart disease with such a "manly diet." The companies that promote these masculine directives are brainwashing men into believing that they are feminine for choosing more plants and less meat. This is a deceitful narrative supported by millions of dollars in the fictitious advertisement. However, these efforts appear to be failing as veganism is now growing faster than ever. Globally, veganism has skyrocketed and the same companies that were aggressively glorifying masculinity in meat-eating are now offering plant-based alternatives by the dozen simply because it is becoming more profitable! So I leave you with this: How can the same industries that exploited toxic masculinity through meat-eating for so many decades also simultaneously promote healthy plant-based eating simply because it is building momentum? What's really going on here?

Define Impeach In the current state of America as we know it, Donald Trump might be impeached. What does that look like, though, on a large scale? Would it actually affect our daily life? Today we define impeach. Welcome to The Toasty Podcast (formerly known as The Unpopular Opinion). While the podcast is just peachy, this topic may not be. It all began before the previous election of 2016 when Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton ran for presidency. The public and the media have started bringing up topics from then in order to show the public eye what happened behind the scenes of the election. The only problem seems to be which side you're on as an individual. To see this from all sides gets a little overwhelming and might even be misconstrued. There's no real way to fact check the fact checker(s) is there? Impeachment is a process by which the House of Representatives and the other branches can "overthrow" a president. Essentially winning an argument against him/her in an effort to release some of the president's powers. The only thing is...sometimes the president is still in office doing the same job they were doing before being successfully impeached. So where does the government get off? Impeachment is everywhere We scoured the interwebs in order to find answers and I'll admit; when it comes to politics finding an unbiased completely fact based source is next to impossible. I just want to define impeachment! Wikipedia it is then...or Google Dictionary. We found several articles about the topic only because of how "hot" it is currently. I'm still not sure if all that reading was worth it, but we arrived at a conclusion stated above, an unbiased view is next to impossible. We wound up at several news sites and of course several blogs about the topic seeing it one-way or the other. Turns out the history of impeachment is even partisan. Holy Quac Toast I try to stay out of Politics, but somehow on this show it just won't leave me alone. So without further ado, give it up for our very own Matty B as he lays the ground work for impeachment and what it means for you! Also check out all the other episodes of The Toasty Podcast!

RFP Podcast Episode #29 – “Easier said than done.” I catch myself saying this phrase more often than I’d like when speaking and working with others. Of course, something is easier said than the actual action of doing it!!! I Googled the saying and it brought back these two results that we dig into a bit deeper in this episode. - “be more easily talked about than put into practice” – Google Dictionary - “said when something seems like a good idea but would be difficult to do” – Cambridge English Dictionary Reading these got me thinking and discussing the topic. Do we unconscientiously defeat ourselves from taking action toward a task before even getting started just by the thought that it might be difficult? What perceived thoughts are preventing you from taking that first step? “Don’t overestimate the world and don’t underestimate yourself. You are better than you think!!” - unknown
