The summer of 1991 could be deemed as one of the most innovative times in heavy metal. In this episode, Animesh and Peter share their love for an album that really pushed the boundaries of what metal could be. "Unquestionable Presence" by Atheist is a 32 minute, 8-song bearing slab of music that can easily be attached as an example to the dictionary definitions of progressive and technical music. Morrisound Recordings studios in Tampa, Florida, USA was THE place for death metal in 1991. The Cannibal Corpse's Butchered at Birth discussed in the previous episode was recorded there. This week, Animesh and Peter are talking about another album that was recorded there in the same year, Atheist's Unquestionable Presence. The 2nd album by the band has left a strong impression on the boys from Bombay. Tune in to find out how they discovered the album, a track by track discussion and if they consider it death metal. Sonia Anubis is someone the metal world should be watching out for. A self taught guitarist and bassist, Sonia founded her own heavy rock band Cobra Spell in which she currently plays lead guitar, and together with Fernanda Lira and Luana Dametto, Sonia started death metal band CRYPTA to go back to her extreme roots on lead-guitar. On Horns Up, Animesh and Peter chat with Sonia about Crypta's debut full-length, Echoes Of The Soul, and really deep dive into music production, riffs, solos, and a lot of guitar nerdery.More about Sonia Anubis here: https://www.soniaanubis.comMore about Crypta here: https://cryptabrazil.bandcamp.comCatch up with Peter and Animesh at www.hornsuppod.comSubscribe to the podcast on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Spotify, or add the RSS feed to your preferred podcast player.
