Friend of the show Daniel Duterte ran the tables at GP Seattle, his only loss coming in the form of a concession to Steve Rubin in Round 15 so he could eat a crepe. We were lucky enough to snag him for an episode, where he talks tournament prep, getting into legacy, and how he fits Magic into his life. Come hang out, and maybe pick up a couple of Grixis Delver tricks and lunch strategy along the way! Thanks as always to Wave Sunray for our music!
On today's episode, Matt and I welcome another guest host to the podcast: German Legacy phenomenon Marius Hausmann. Many of you might already know Marius following his recent success on the MKM Series, but this guy is a true oldschooler of Legacy. When I started playing competitive Legacy in Munich around 2005/06, he was already around as one (if not the) end boss of our local scene…and soon all of Germany as well. After eventually dropping his beloved Death & Taxes in favor of a deck he swore to never touch, we invited him to today's cast to discuss his thoughts on the state of Legacy right before the upcoming Grand Prix. * GP Seattle coming up on the weekend * Why Marius dropped Death & Taxes * Grixis Delver, Marius' unlikely new mistress * Czech Pile vs Grixis Delver…3,2,1 FIGHT! * Beat Grixis Delver using this one weird trick * The Dark Horse — Moon Stompy * State of the MKM Series Marius Hausmann's (MariusOfTheMoon on MTGO) Grixis Delver he won the most recent Legacy Challenge with, beating Julian's Elves in the Quarterfinals. We also tracked down the player Marius mentioned who plays a lot of Energy Field-Rest in Peace on Magic Online. Check out his decklists here: adalid240477 We'd love to hear your feedback on today's episode in the comment section or via Twitter. This is only the second episode I have edited myself and I'd be happy to hear any suggestions or advise on how we could improve your enjoyment of Everyday Eternal even further! So long, Julian

I am excited to share this conversation with Dan Signorini, a.k.a. Nitewolf9 on MTGTheSource. Dan and David Gearhart created the “Team America” deck, which started off as an elaborate joke and has evolved into the BUG / Grixis Delver decks of today. Chance are, if you have ever played or played against a Delver deck, you have been influenced by Dan’s deck building choices. Dan is a long-standing member of the North Virginia Legacy community, which includes players such as Alix Hatfield, Jesse Hatfield, Anwar Ahmed, David Gearhart, David Price, Damon Whitby, and many others. Together, the group has developed influential decks such as Canadian Threshold, Solidarity, Dredge, Zoo, and (of course!) Team America. Dan was also one of Bob Huang’s early mentors. Bob has, in turn, popularized the de facto Grixis Delver build that we know so well today. It is no exaggeration to say that Dan and his group have been instrumental to the development of the Legacy format, and “Type 1.5” before that. Furthermore, Dan has had a strong influence on *me*. When I started playing competitive Magic almost ten years ago, he was the person I learned from. Dan was the one to offer me advice on how to play the “Team America” deck and matchup tips. I would not be creating content today, or playing Magic at all, without his kindness and support. For these reasons, this episode is very special to me. In true “Humans of Magic” fashion, the discussion touches on everything Dan cares about – family, community, music, martial arts, competitive mindset, and more. Dan speaks openly about a wide variety of topics, and I hope that you enjoy listening to it. Bob Huang, Matt Pavlic and Julian Knab sit down with newly crowned ETERNAL WEEKEND 2017 LEGACY CHAMPION, Denmark's Hans Jacob Goddik to discuss his and Bob's amazing runs through the tournament, their individual deck choices (BUG & Grixis Delver) as well as the current state of Legacy. Plus: 10 cool things you can do with Siege Rhinos you probably have at home. What is Everyday Eternal? For those unfamiliar with Everyday Eternal, it is one of the oldest Magic podcasts focussed on competitive Legacy (and we like to claim: sometimes also Vintage.) Together with our hosts Bob Huang, Matt Pavlic, Julian Knab, and their funky guests, we're bringing you the latest news and technology from the world of Eternal Magic. God, could our iTunes BE any more generic? Can someone please rewrite this? Bob, Matt, anyone? Seriously though, rebooting this podcast has been something I've wanted to do for a long while now and I'm super happy to today present you the new and improved Everday Eternal! A big THANK YOU goes out to all the people on Patreon who earlier this year met the incentive to regroup and produce this! Your support there really does mean the world to me and I'm thankful for everything you guys & girls have done for me this year! iTunes, Google Play, Soundcloud & Previous Episodes /Edit: We're on iTunes now! We're working with Eternal Central, where this podcast used to be hosted, to soon reupload all the previous episodes! Some time next week, the current (old) iTunes feed for Everyday Eternal will close and I'll reopen a new one that you can subscribe to. Same goes for Google Play and Soundcloud, where we will register this Podcast for the first time. Once everything has been set up, I'll announce everything here. If you liked what you heard, we'd be very thankful if you could leave a review on iTunes, once we're on it. Feedback It would be great to receive some feedback on this episode. This was the first time I have edited a podcast and it blew my mind how much time goes into working on it. I can tell that I'm already getting better, so I'm already looking forward to future episodes! Please do let us know what you liked and disliked about this episode, which topics you'd love us to see hear covering in future episodes, as well as what your favourite Siege Rhino combo is. You can leave your feedback in the comments or contact me via Twitter. So long, Julian
The rumors of modern's death have been greatly exaggerated. In this episode we dissect some of the recent large tournament results and see how interactive decks are competing in this proactive meta game. We also look at the format to see what cards could be safely unbanned and if anything really needs to be banned for the health of the format. Lastly, we talk about Grixis Delver and Temur Delver as our current decks of choice. As always that you so much for listening, if you would like to get in touch with us you can do so: on Twitter on Facebook on YouTube or Email Thanks again, -Ahren + Chris
