Chris Richards' towering header sealed a 1-0 win over Saudi Arabia to send the USMNT through to the Gold Cup knockouts. Jimmy Conrad, Charlie Davies, and Tony Meola break down the highs and lows from the narrow victory over the Green Falcons. The first half lacked attacking threat, but a more assured second-half display - with standout performances from Tyler Adams and Sebastian Berhalter in midfield - proved enough. Mauricio Pochettino rolled with the same starting XI for a second straight game, but with the knockouts looming and Haji Wright nursing an injury, will he tweak the setup going forward? Could a two-striker system be on the cards? The guys also preview Sunday's group stage finale, where the U.S. take on Haiti looking to wrap things up with a perfect nine points. Down to one court, and the singles at Roland Garros becomes a rarefied atmosphere, to say the least. Just ask Mirra Andreeva, who melted under the pressure of playing a home favourite in Lois Boisson. Same could be said of Alexander Zverev, beaten by Novak Djokovic, while Alexander Bublik or Tommy Paul were never expected to stop Jannik Sinner or Carlos Alcaraz's inexorable march to the final. The semi-final picture is nearly set at Roland-Garros, as Kim and Chris catch up on the Quarter Finals of Roland Garros 2025! Among the semifinalists, we see a mix of familiar faces and standout surprises. Top seeds like Iga Swiatek, Aryna Sabalenka, Jannik Sinner, and Carlos Alcaraz have delivered on expectations—but it's the emergence of local French Wild Card Lois Boisson that has captured the hearts of fans. The 21-year-old Frenchwoman, playing in her first-ever Grand Slam, continued her dream run today by upsetting teenage sensation Mirra Andreeva to book a place in the semi-finals. From unknown to unstoppable, Boisson is rewriting the script in Paris. They also discuss the lack of default for Lorenzo Musetti during his 4 set win over Frances Tiafoe after he accidentally kicked a ball thus hitting a line judge. Other players have been defaulted for less - should he have been too?Kim and Chris also discuss the ongoing debate around the lack of women's night matches scheduled at Roland Garros, with all four women's quarter finals being longer than the whitewash that was Carlos Alcaraz v Tommy Paul, lending further critique to Amelie Mauresmo's comments around the rationale for night session scheduling! They also weigh in on who they think will make the finals at Roland-Garros, looking ahead to the semi finals over the coming days.PROPERTY HUB INVESTIf you're serious about property, head to https://propertyhub.net/start to take your first step.SOCIALSFollow us on Twitter, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube, plus email the show tennisweeklypod@gmail.com.MERCHPurchase Tennis Weekly Merch through our Etsy store including limited edition designs by Krippa Design where all proceeds go towards the podcast so we can keep doing what we do!REVIEWS***Please take a moment to rate and review the show on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or wherever you get your pods.
