In this 152nd in a series of live discussions with Bret Weinstein and Heather Heying (both PhDs in Biology), we discuss the state of the world through an evolutionary lens. This week, we discuss the free exchange of ideas, in light of Matt Taibbi's revelations about how the story of Hunter Biden's laptop was censored inside Twitter, and Kanye West going explicitly antisemitic on InfoWars. Why should Kanye be heard, given that what he is saying is awful? We also discuss chemist Anna Krylov's newest piece, who has seen first-hand what happens when ideas are censored and events disappeared. The National Science Foundation awards a large amount of money to an organization called Hacks/Hackers, who use that money to “discover” that Bret is a conservative who spreads vaccine misinformation. Meanwhile, Pfizer mocks people who try to figure things out for themselves, and receives a Reuters Pharma Award. That is not a typo. ***** Our sponsors: Ned: is a CBD company that uses USDA certified organic full spectrum hemp oil, and creates specialty blends to help with stress and sleep. Hour 3 - Good Friday morning! Here's what Nick Reed covers this hour: Former Navy SEAL Chris Beck, known as the transgender woman Kristin Beck, is detransitioning back to being a man, he said in an interview Dec. 1. The federal government has awarded $5 million to a group of journalists called Hacks/Hackers to develop software that will encourage regular Americans to confront their friends over “harmful” posts, and “correct misinformation” by replying with text suggested by the software. Less than half of Americans have high confidence in the United States military, according to a survey released Thursday. ALSO - Anthony Carriker joins Nick Reed this morning: Did you recently purchase a home? Chances are you're getting all kinds of mail regarding your loan. How do you know what's real and what's spam? Anthony tells you what to look for. Bruce Beadles also stops by: Bruce gives some home tips as we move into the winter. Sarah created a video of some of the work that the Beadles team is going to do on her home. The Beadles team is also hiring! They are in need of 2 skilled Maintenance Techs as well as 2 members for our Environmental crew. Call Ashley at 417-840-3330 to set up a time for an interview, and see if Beadles might be a good fit for you!

Joanna Geary started out as a print journalist in 2004 - as a business reporter on the Birmingham Post - and ended up in charge of Twitter's Curation team in 2017. That's a job and a company that didn't exist when she started her career. From blogging in Birmingham and using Facebook to find people on the scene of the 2007 Virginia Tech shooting, to setting up Hacks/Hackers in London, via The Times' paywall and The Guardian's social strategy, Joanna tells me how her career has been shaped by working at the intersection of news and digital. It's a period of time that's seen the news industry turned inside-out. Joanna got her big break into the nationals thanks to a Twitter DM, and she has great insight into how to manage culture change, digital innovation and managing a yearning to work in tech when she thought she'd always write for a living. This is the first episode in a two-parter - make sure you tune in for next week's episode, where we follow Joanna's journey from The Guardian to Twitter (via a LinkedIn message). -- How has your industry moved from analogue to digital? Each episode, creative guests tell host Suchandrika Chakrabarti how the internet has revolutionised work.
