This is absolutely the most insane episode of The Spice Rack we've had thus far, which is amazing since we have our first guest! Jazmine is a friend of the program and lover of romantacy. Honestly, if you've read this book or not, this episode is a fun one (completely unhinged: see episode title). Join us next week as we read If Only You by Chloe Liese, which has some great representation for Pride Month! As always, follow along with us on Instagram and TikTok @spicerackpod xoxo

Mediation Is The Answer. If Only You'd Ask Yourself The Question...
Let me guess, you think you're just stressed out and you're not even close to burning yourself out? If this is you, this episode is made just for you. In today's episode we cover the first two phases of burnout. Phase 1 = Ambition During the Ambition Phase you're focused on your future and meeting your goals. Therefore, your ambition propels you to take action that allows you to meet your goals. You're taking on more responsibility, but not taking any responsibility or tasks away. This action propels you right into the next phase of burnout. Phase 2 = “If Only” You're focused on completing your to-do list. The only catch is that your to-do list keeps growing and no matter what you just can't seem to catch up. Your main thoughts are "If only I could get this done I will be satisfied,” and “If only I can get this done, I'll be one step closer to achieving my goals.” This hamster wheel of thoughts propels you right into frustration because there is never enough time in the day to get “all the things done” that you “should” be getting done. The frustration then walks you right into the third phase of burnout. Additionally, I walk you through how you're creating habits by following the same process over and over again. The first step in the process to managing your stress effectively and overcoming burnout is to have the courage to become self aware. You can't solve a problem if you don't even realize that you have a problem in the first place. STEP 1 = SELF AWARENESS Determine where you are at in the burnout process. I'll make it easy on you, take this quiz to identify where you're at in the process: Are You Burned Out Quiz Plus, download the Are You Burned Out Checklist Are You Burned Out Checklist Want to learn more about overcoming burnout? Phil Perry has one of the most beautiful and recognizable voices I've ever heard. Every note is it's own poetic phrase. Songs like "Call Me", his rendition of "If Only You knew" songs like "Say Yes" actually stop me in my tracks and seek the eyes and heart of a lover. Actually, every song I've heard him sing warms my heart. He is being is currently a 2019 National R&B Hall of Fame Inductee and we are thrilled to have him join us for music and chat in the Basement with JaVonne & Terez.
Bart and Norma discuss work culture, what it takes to become a lawyer, Medicaid savings using "If Only You..." reasoning, cost of living in different areas, and taxes taxes taxes!
