Kelley shares stories from her work in Burundi—where economic collapse forced hard, human decisions about care, reentry, and neighbor-love—and helps us reframe Jesus's sermon in Luke 4 as dangerous, embodied good news. As we continue our series, The Way of Jesus, we look at Jesus and Money. We will look at portions of Matthew 17, Matthew 22, and John 12 in looking at how Jesus treated money, honored his obligations, and taught others to do the same.

The interesting thing about Jesus and money is that he really doesn't say anything other than what Moses had already said. What Jesus does is call his followers to take seriously what Moses said about money and to live according to God's alternative economy. We see this especially in the story of Jesus and the rich young ruler.
