A sermon from Matthew 14:1-21 on Sunday, May 11th, 2025.
We come back to our "Tale of Two Kings" series, and look at one of David's lowest times in his life, where he is acting like the Philistines, and even acts like he hates his own, but he finally has to face the choice of whether or not he will fight against his own.
We are still taking a break from the “Tale of Two Kings” series, but we do look at David and Absolom, with David as a picture of Christ, and Absolom as a picture of Satan. Please tune in.

Cecil Maranville discusses Daniel 11:40—“At the time of the end the king of the South shall attack him; and the king of the North shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter the countries, overwhelm them, and pass through.”This episode quotes from the following resources:“NIV Cultural Backgrounds Study Bible Notes,” Craig S. We are looking at the same story in this evening's message as last week's, but we look at things from Saul's perspective instead of David's, and find that Saul was not truly repentant, but wanted the rewards of repentance such as trust. Please tune in to another wonderful message in the “Tale of Two Kings” series.

The Restoration reinstates the monarchy in England, Scotland & Ireland, and Irish Catholics believe that they will get their lands back for their loyalty to the king. And when the openly Catholic King James II succeeds his older brother, they are even more hopeful. But English Protestants fear that his reign will lead to a Catholic dynasty, and invite the Dutch William of Orange to take the throne. James II flees to France and gathers troops to back his cause. He arrives on the coast of Ireland in 1689 to reclaim his crown. When news of this reaches Parliament, William of Orange heads to Ireland to meet his enemy on the battlefield. In the Boyne Valley near Dublin, the two kings clash in a battle that continues to be memorialised in Ireland today. But was it that militarily important? And how did the Battle of the Boyne play into the chessboard of European geopolitics? Listen as Anita and William are joined once again by Professor Jane Ohlmeyer to discuss how the Battle of the Boyne shaped Protestant identity in Ireland. _____________ Empire UK Live Tour: The Booze & Brews live show is going on a UK tour! Amidst an epidemic of anxiety, Jesus, the Son of David is here today with the same offer He gave His first disciples during their anxious days: Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give you. So don't let your hearts be troubled or afraid. There is a peace that the world attempts to give – it comes through ramping up our efforts to control, to fix all our circumstances, to take matters into our own hands – and there is peace that Jesus gives – it is the opposite of the spirit of control, it is more like surrender, it is more like worship.

Two Kings & The Fire At Ziklag
The fate of Judah hangs in the balance—will God answer King Hezekiah's desperate prayer and save Jerusalem from destruction in 2 Kings 19? As Judah teeters between faith and failure, 2 Kings 20 and 2 Kings 21 reveal a shocking twist: a miraculous rescue followed by a king's fatal mistake and his son King Manasseh's reign of terror.Themes of this podcast episode:God's power is greater than any challenge. When King Hezekiah faced the Assyrian threat, he turned to God instead of relying on human strength. His story reminds us that no obstacle—whether an army, crisis, or personal struggle—is bigger than God's ability to save and provide.Pride can turn blessings into burdens. King Hezekiah's faith brought about his miraculous healing, but later his pride led Babylon to Judah's riches. His mistake teaches us to turn to the Lord rather than pride in our blessings. Success should deepen our dependence on God, not inflate our ego.One Generation's Faith Doesn't Guarantee the Next's. Despite having a righteous father, King Manasseh led Judah into idolatry and evil. His reign proves that spiritual heritage isn't enough—we must choose to follow God ourselves. Faith isn't inherited; it's lived.

This is another message in the "Tale of Two Kings" series. In this message, we learn about how important it is to rely on God's Word, not only in hard times, but all of the time, because we are completely incapable of saving ourselves.
église AB Lausanne ; KJV 1 Kings (3 Kings) 20 And Ben-hadad the king of Syria gathered all his host together: and there were thirty and two kings with him, and horses, and chariots: and he went up and besieged Samaria, and warred against it. And he sent messengers to Ahab king of Israel into the city, and said unto him, Thus saith Ben-hadad, Thy silver and thy gold is mine; thy wives also and thy children, even the goodliest, are mine. And the king of Israel answered and said, My lord, O king, according to thy saying, I am thine, and all that I have. And the messengers came again, and said, Thus speaketh Ben-hadad, saying, Although I have sent unto thee, saying, Thou shalt deliver me thy silver, and thy gold, and thy wives, and thy children; Yet I will send my servants unto thee to morrow about this time, and they shall search thine house, and the houses of thy servants; and it shall be, that whatsoever is pleasant in thine eyes, they shall put it in their hand, and take it away. Then the king of Israel called all the elders of the land, and said, Mark, I pray you, and see how this man seeketh mischief: for he sent unto me for my wives, and for my children, and for my silver, and for my gold; and I denied him not. And all the elders and all the people said unto him, Hearken not unto him, nor consent. Wherefore he said unto the messengers of Ben-hadad, Tell my lord the king, All that thou didst send for to thy servant at the first I will do: but this thing I may not do. And the messengers departed, and brought him word again. And Ben-hadad sent unto him, and said, The gods do so unto me, and more also, if the dust of Samaria shall suffice for handfuls for all the people that follow me. ...
We kick off the new year by exploring the magi's visit with Jesus and what this means for our response to Jesus in our own lives.
When we celebrate the Feast of Epiphany, we tell the story of astronomers from the east who bring three gifts. Christmas pageants and hymns portray these visitors as three kings. There are however, only two kings in the story. The fake one named Herod sitting on a throne in Jerusalem and the real one, Jesus, lying in a manger in Bethlehem. Isaiah saw the day when the nations would worship Israel's kings, bringing gold and frankincense. The myrrh in Matthew's story adds a substance used for burial and the cross looms. Jesus is not just a personal savior but a ruler who brings a new kingdom in his life, death, and resurrection.

The holidays are upon us! To celebrate, the boys are doing nothing at all out of the ordinary as Michael brings another fairy tale to the show. David...has opinions on it, and Michael reveals the name of David's drag persona.
We also take a break from the “Tale of Two Kings” series, and look at spiritual gifts God has given each one of us that is saved, and also look at how we should not neglect these gifts.
In this message in the “Tale of Two Kings” series, we see a prayer David made while he was among the Philistines. You can find this prayer in Psalm 34. This message deals with how the Lord can deliver us from affliction.
Joy to the world the Lord is come / Let earth receive her king / Let every heart prepare Him room / And heaven and nature sing Let earth receive her king He rules the world with truth and grace / And makes the nations prove / The glories of His righteousness / And wonders of His love Matthew 2:1-12 // After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem 2 and asked, “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.” 3 When King Herod heard this he was disturbed, and all Jerusalem with him. 4 When he had called together all the people's chief priests and teachers of the law, he asked them where the Messiah was to be born. 5 “In Bethlehem in Judea,” they replied, “for this is what the prophet has written: 6 “‘But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for out of you will come a ruler who will shepherd my people Israel.'” 7 Then Herod called the Magi secretly and found out from them the exact time the star had appeared. 8 He sent them to Bethlehem and said, “Go and search carefully for the child. As soon as you find him, report to me, so that I too may go and worship him.” 9 After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen when it rose went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. 10 When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. 11 On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. 12 And having been warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they returned to their country by another route. Jesus is King over ALL the Earth Luke 1:31-33 // You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, 33 and he will reign over Jacob's descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.” Matthew 1:1-17 // This is the genealogy of Jesus the Messiah the son of David, the son of Abraham: 2 Abraham was the father of Isaac, Isaac the father of Jacob, Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers, 6 and Jesse the father of King David. 16 and Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary, and Mary was the mother of Jesus who is called the Messiah. 17 Thus there were fourteen generations in all from Abraham to David, fourteen from David to the exile to Babylon, and fourteen from the exile to the Messiah. Jesus has ALWAYS been King Matthew 2:2 // “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? King Jesus was fiercely opposed Myrrh / Incense / Gold Every Knee will bow before our King Matthew 2:9-11 // After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen when it rose went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. 10 When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. 11 On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Philippians 2:6-11 // Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; 7 rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross! 9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Where is Jesus NOT King in my life?
Does the flesh war against the Spirit like Saul warred against David just for serving God? It surely does, and we as Christians must be prepared for battle against our flesh daily. And that's what you will hear in this message in the “Tale of Two Kings” series.

This lecture discusses the science fiction and fantasy author, Ursula K. Leguin's book, The Other Wind, the sixth and final of her Earthsea books It focuses specifically on how the leaders of the two main kingdoms in Earthsea - the Kargish high king, Thol and the king of the archipelago, Lebannen - begin to come to terms, and work out a peace between the two lands. This involves a third person, the Kargish princess. The demand to Lebannen that he give her the ring of peace and that they marry places him in a difficult situation.
