Burks shares his impressions of working under offensive coordinator David Blough, explaining how the coaching staff's approach has helped him continue developing his game and understanding his role within the offense. The conversation also revisits Burks' spectacular one-handed catch from last season, as he breaks down the play, the reaction it received, and where it ranks among the best moments of his career. The interview wraps with broader discussion about expectations for the upcoming season, his goals moving forward, and how he hopes to contribute to Washington's offense in a meaningful way.
The hour opens with a recap of an incredible start to the Stanley Cup Final, as the Golden Knights survive a wild 5-4 Game 1 thriller to take an early series lead. Later in the hour, Commanders wide receiver Treylon Burks joins the show to discuss his OTA experience, adjusting to offensive coordinator David Blough's system, his memorable one-handed catch from last season, and his goals for the year ahead. Chris wraps up by reacting to the interview and explaining why Burks brings a unique skill set to Washington's receiver room, one that could add a new dimension to the Commanders' offense and help fill a role the group has been missing.
The show opens with a recap of a thrilling Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final, as the Vegas Golden Knights outlast their opponent in a wild 5–4 victory before shifting to a preview of Game 1 of the NBA Finals between the New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs. Later, Treylon Burks joins Chris Russell to discuss his OTA experience with the Washington Commanders, adapting to offensive coordinator David Blough's system, and reflecting on his memorable one-handed catch from last season, while Russell explains why Burks could bring a unique element to Washington's offense. The conversation then turns to the Commanders' receiving corps, with Russell arguing that the team does not need to add another wide receiver despite continued speculation. That debate quickly intertwines with discussion surrounding Brandon Aiyuk after reports of an arrest warrant tied to a speeding incident in Northern California, prompting strong reactions from listeners and a heated on-air debate over accountability, public perception, and whether Washington should have any interest in pursuing the star receiver. The show closes with additional NFL headlines, including updates involving Micah Parsons and Zachariah Branch, while listener calls continue to fuel spirited discussion surrounding the Aiyuk controversy and the broader expectations placed on professional athletes off the field.

Big-name veteran Orlando Brown Jr. is one of the most talked-about potential cap casualties for the Bengals. Brown is an elite left tackle with multiple Pro Bowls on his résumé and remains a cornerstone of Cincinnati's offensive line, but his contract carries a very heavy cap hit (nearly $22 M in 2026) with limited savings if he's cut without a post-June designation. That makes him an unlikely cut in a vacuum — the Bengals protect Joe Burrow at all costs — but it also makes Brown one of the few marquee players whose salary structure could make the team at least explore ways to create cap space (like restructuring or tagging a successor) if Cincinnati finds itself tight against the cap in the coming offseason. On the defensive front, B.J. Hill and T.J. Slaton both have contracts that could draw scrutiny, but they are less likely to be cut purely for performance reasons. Hill just re-signed a multi-year deal, is a veteran starter inside and a locker-room leader, and anchors the defensive tackle rotation. Slaton, signed on a two-year deal in 2025, brings run-stuffing size and depth to a unit that needs bodies. Both have roles in the defensive interior, and the Bengals historically value continuity at the line. Finally, Oren Burks was brought in on a two-year contract to add experience to a linebacking corps in transition. While he's not a marquee name, Burks' role could be in jeopardy if younger players like Demetrius Knight Jr. and Barrett Carter continue to progress and the team pursues cap savings — linebacker is traditionally easier to replace through the draft or cheaper free-agent signings. In summary, Brown's salary makes him the most intriguing “cut candidate” from a cap perspective, even if it's unlikely in practice; Hill and Slaton are more likely to stick due to role and continuity; and Burks' spot could be in play if the Bengals pivot toward youth or cheaper alternatives. On this episode of Reaganism, Roger Zakheim and Jonathan Burks explored how to secure a durable, bipartisan fix to America's fiscal challenges—especially Social Security—without defaulting to lowest-common-denominator politics. Burks argued that trillion-dollar (and rising) deficits, debt service now rivaling or exceeding major programs, and higher interest rates make action unavoidable; any real solution will require both spending restraint and new revenue. They discussed President Trump's tariffs, with Burks noting tariff receipts are too small and economically inefficient to close the gap and that policy/legal uncertainty is chilling investment and manufacturing jobs. Drawing on his Hill experience, Burks explained why continuing resolutions and executive workarounds (e.g., rescissions, reconciliation) are poor substitutes for bipartisan appropriations that give industry long-term certainty—vital for defense and other priorities. They concluded with a discussion on the future of Social Security. Burks argued that there is bipartisan consensus on the path to make the program solvent: gradually raise the retirement age, modestly adjust payroll taxes (with protections for physically demanding careers), and act soon—pointing to strong public support for fixing the program if leaders level with voters.

On the afternoon of August 7, 1972, sixteen-year-old Jeannette DePalma left her house in Springfield, NJ and was never seen alive again. Six weeks later, Jeannette's remains were discovered when a neighborhood dog returned to its owner at a newly built apartment complex, carrying Jeannette's badly decomposed arm in its mouth. The news of Jeannette's death spread quickly around the small town and the rumors about the circumstances were not far behind. According to witnesses, the girl's body was surrounded by occult symbols and objects, and within a few weeks news outlets began reporting that Jeannette had been the victim of ritual human sacrifice. For more than five decades, the murder of Jeannette DePalma had fascinated New Jersey residents and has even captured the attention of news outlets from around the country and occasionally around the world. Yet the more coverage the case receives, the more the rumors of occult murder and Satanism seem to grow, obscuring the more relevant facts and the tragedy at the heart of the case.Thank you to the Incredible Dave White of Bring Me the Axe Podcast for research and Writing support!ReferencesAssociated Press. 1972.
