Matt and Jason sat down with independent broadcaster and liberty activist Shannon Joy for a powerful conversation about ideological consistency and the cost of telling the truth. Utilizing her background in advertising and media, Shannon built a highly successful syndicated radio show, only to face severe backlash and deplatforming when she refused to capitulate to the MAGA movement. Recognizing Donald Trump as a Trojan horse for establishment interests from day one, she charted her own course. She overcame corporate rug pulls to build an independent media network that reaches a million listeners a month and recently ran for Lieutenant Governor of New York alongside Larry Sharpe to challenge and expose the fraudulent political apparatus. The conversation breaks down the illusion of political saviors and the reality of the bipartisan corporate-state nexus. The discussion explores how institutional capital is funding a rapid expansion of the surveillance state, turning everyday public utilities—like municipal streetlights—into high-speed, unconstitutional tracking nodes via Axon light posts and Flock cameras. Beyond the physical dragnet, the dialogue uncovers the insidious nature of "signature reduction," a government strategy deploying private fronts and civilian operations to manipulate local communities and social media narratives. It is a stark warning about the technocratic panopticon being built in our backyards under the guise of public safety. The ultimate defense against a digitized, omnipresent surveillance state is hyper-localization and parallel institutions. The episode concludes with a deep dive into actionable countermeasures, emphasizing that human "relationships of trust" will soon become the most valuable commodity we possess. By actively adopting privacy-focused technologies, utilizing physical cash and precious metals, and intentionally building local supply chains, individuals can effectively starve the uniparty apparatus. The true white pill is a fearless return to localized human connection—rendering the corporate-state dragnet obsolete through unyielding, decentralized non-compliance. Carol Kent joins Stephanie again to explore the themes of delight, lament, and defiance as we walk with God during life's hardest seasons. Drawing from personal tragedy and grief, Carol models a Christian posture of joy and hope rooted in God's character and presence rather than in circumstances. Holding on to God's presence in both sorrow and joy allows lament, defiant delight, and community to become pathways to deeper intimacy with Him—trusting always that “He is close to the brokenhearted.”Carol Kent begins by recounting profound personal loss: her son's incarceration for life after a tragic shooting, her sister's recent passing from cancer, and the death of a beloved mother-in-law. As Carol says, “If I were the author of my own life, I would not have written all of these chapters into it.” Deep sorrow, grief, and questions are inevitable in this life and unavoidable for the Christian as well. But delight in God can still exist, and even thrive, in the midst of this.Psalm 37:4 promises, "Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart." It's the foundation for Stephanie's book, Awaken Delight, which Carol generously endorsed. Carol clarifies that delight, unlike happiness, is not circumstantial or fleeting. Instead, it is the ongoing choice to “be at home” in God's presence, trusting that He is still good even when life falls apart. The Hebrew root of “delight” includes ideas of softness and pliability “being shaped by something”. This allows the believer to rest in God's love, even wordlessly, when strength or words run out.Lament is communal as well as personal. She describes the beauty of grieving with her siblings—sharing scripture, encouragement, and family memories during her sister Paula's dying days. Lament is rarely a single event, but a process that comes in waves. Honest lament involves asking hard questions of God and laying out our pain before Him, just as the Psalmists do.Stephanie, in her book and through this conversation, speaks of defiant delight: a courageous, deliberate act of standing in God's love and goodness even while fully acknowledging pain. It does not deny reality but declares that God's love, His delight in us, and His purposes are the final word.Practices for Cultivating DelightDaily Immersion in God's Word: Carol emphasizes reading Scripture before anything else. Breathing in God's truth enables us to breathe out hope to others.Community in Grief and Joy: Reaching out to others, sharing both joys and sorrows, strengthens communal faith.Hands-on Ministry: Serving others, especially “the least of these”—as when Carol brings hope to women inmates—multiplies joy, even in places of loss or pain.Prayer and Intercession: Praying for and with others, and inviting others to partner in God's work, turns both lament and delight into a shared experience.Delight and lament are communal, just as worship in heaven will be—our delight in God amplified through the delight of others. We experience this now, in part, as we partner together in prayer, service, and celebration, looking forward to perfect joy in God's presence.Application:Delighting in God is a daily, sometimes moment-by-moment discipline. It means allowing God's presence—not our circumstances—to define our identity and our peace.Defiant delight is chosen daily, sometimes breath by breath. It is strengthened by God's Word, community, and serving others.DISCOVER “AWAKEN DELIGHT” BY STEPHANIE ROUSSELLEWhat you will (re)discover as you journey with God through Awaken Delight:Delight in God is identity-shaping, not emotion-driven. Delight in God is not fleeting emotion but resilient identity.Delight in God is altogether trust, satisfaction in God, relational intimacy with Him.Delight in God is often expressed and grown through resilient joy under suffering.Delight in God is the missing engine behind resilience. It's the antidote to burnout. It's even the foundation for sustainable ministry.God's delight in you is secure, not performance-dependent. God's delight in you frees you from striving! That's the beginning of delight.Jesus is the center of every endeavor to delight in God.You can build a delight-centered spiritual life. Based on Scripture, this devotional is written as if God the Father is speaking His words of comfort and protection directly over you, based on the Scripture for the day..When Carol Kent's son was sentenced to life in prison without parole, Carol was consumed with grief, sadness, and despair. She was distraught wondering why God permitted this to happen. She had prayed for her son since he was a small child. He had been raised with biblical principles and daily prayer. As Carol tried to make sense of everything, she couldn't help asking, Where's God when it hurts so much?In the middle of her sorrow, Carol turned to the place where she had always gone for comfort―the Bible. She was desperate to hear God's voice. She soon discovered that the best way for her to “listen” to His voice was to meditate on Scripture and then write out what she believed He was saying. She wrote it as if it was His prayer over her life, and it comforted her. It was as if He took her by the hand, as a father would guide a child, and He gently led her in the direction of unconditional love, renewed hope, and fresh faith.Know without a doubt that God is with you and stands ready to protect and guide you. He holds your hand, and He won't let go. Listen to God's voice and put your hand in His. He is your Comforter, your Healer, your Teacher, and your Joy. Remember He holds your hand, and He won't let go.More at https://carolkent.org/books-by-carol-kent/ DISCOVER THE BOOK BEHIND THE PODCAST | "Awaken Delight" by Stephanie Rousselle"Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart." The End of the Road gave fans everything and more on an insane Finals Day at the Outerknown Tahiti Pro Presented by I-SEA as Erin Brooks and Seth Moniz rose to Tahitian lore. Teahupo'o delivered a dreamy Finals Day conclusion to an all-time Tahiti Pro from start to finish. The women's Final showdown will down in history as one of, if not the best, Final professional surfing could witness at Teahupo'o. 2025 CT Rookie of the Year phenom Erin Brooks and 2026 CT Rookie breakout Anat Lelior battled in the heaving arena with remarkable showings. Lelior had Brooks in an unprecedented position heading into the fading moments of the Final, leaving her in a 16.33 combination situation. But, Brooks fought back and found two incredible barrels, navigating in world-class fashion to post an 8.27 and 8.93 to claim her first-ever win as a full-time CTer, her second-career CT win. Brooks' amazing journey to the Final encompassed reigning World Champion and Tahiti Pro champ, Molly Picklum, and best friend Isabella Nichols before one of the most amazing comebacks in surfing history. Then, it was a battle of brothers in the men's Final between Seth Moniz and Griffin Colapinto. Colapinto's start put Moniz against the ropes, who answered back in a big way to post an excellent 8.50 and then locked into a channel erupting 9.07 to leave Colapinto needing nothing short of perfection. Moniz felt all the love from the dedicated fans in the channel all the way to the end and hoisted his maiden CT glory after a hard-fought seven years on Tour. Moniz's road to victory was absurdity. Taking down one of the world's heaviest chargers in Alan Cleland before toppling 2024 Tahiti Pro winner, and 2019 World Champ, Italo Ferreira, then Colapinto in a massive Final. Defiant runs from Ramzi Boukhiam and Italo Ferreira concluded with Semifinal appearances, pushing Ferreira further atop the leaderboard. Boukhiam's Quarterfinal performance went down as one of his best-career to date as he moves toward Fiji. Plus, breakout results in the 2026 season for Isabella Nichols and CT Rookie Yolanda Hopkins catapulted them into the requalification fight following Semifinal finishes of their own. The rankings have been rattled and the Pacific Leg is just getting started. A new men's World No. 1 Italo Ferreira heads into the Fiji Pro Presented by Corona Cero ready to cement himself atop the rankings as Gabriela Bryan looks to bounce back from an early Tahiti exit and remain in the Yellow Leaders Jersey. The CT heads for the dream culture of Bula, and the world-class reef of Cloudbreak, beginning August 25 - September 4 where family, the ocean, and beauty meet. Greg Kelly gives a critical analysis of current geopolitical conflicts and domestic policy concerns. Kelly and his guests examine the migration crisis in Spain, framing the influx of Moroccans as a "refugee army" that threatens European stability and mirrors potential border issues in the United States. The dialogue shifts to criticisms of Dr. Anthony Fauci, accusing him of suppressing alternative medical treatments and using coercive tactics to enforce vaccine mandates.
Brian Armstrong changed his profile picture to a memecoin. It pumped to thirty million. Ten thousand wallets piled in. Less than twenty-four hours later, he changed it back — and every one of those wallets felt it.That one move cracked open the week's biggest debate: what should Coinbase and Base actually be for? And what does it mean that Robinhood's new L2 — launched three weeks ago, supposedly for tokenized stocks — already has five hundred million in memecoin volume versus thirteen million in RWAs?This week on The Defiant, Camila Russo sits down with three guests who can't agree on anything — and that's exactly why this conversation works.Austin Campbell (Zero Knowledge / NYU Stern) says Base's behavior was both an intellectual and moral failing — memecoins are gambling, and Coinbase can't build payment infrastructure while promoting gambling to young people at the same time. Jason Yanowitz (Blockworks) says the strategy is closer to right than people admit, and the real problem is execution, not direction. Michael Lee (LienFi), a Base builder since day one, says Armstrong's PFP move caused real damage — but mercenary traders have also paid twenty million dollars to creators on Base, and nobody else is stepping in to do that.School bus. Rocket ship. Same company. That's the problem.Guests: Austin Campbell (Zero Knowledge / NYU Stern) | Jason Yanowitz (Blockworks) | Michael Lee (LienFi) Topics: Memecoins, Coinbase, Base, Robinhood L2, content coins, Brian Armstrong, crypto regulation, everything exchange
Fourteen days. That's the window the crypto industry has to get the CLARITY Act through the Senate — or wait until the 2030s for another shot. The combined draft dropped last week for the first time, merging the Senate Banking and Agriculture committee text into one bill. It added a law enforcement title (the Fraternal Order of Police endorsed it the same day). It added an ethics provision. And Democrats are rejecting that provision outright. This week on The Defiant, we're bringing three people living this fight from the inside: Miller Whitehouse-Levine (Solana Policy Institute), Amanda Tuminelli (DeFi Education Fund), and Adrian Wall (Digital Sovereignty Alliance). They don't all agree on how close we are — and one of them drops what might be the most explosive political take of the year: that Republicans, Democrats, financial institutions, and Coinbase may none of them actually want this bill to pass. The Polymarket odds: down from 80% in February to 37% this week. The stakes: if it fails, the next administration can undo anything the agencies do by rulemaking. Without a law, there's no floor. And innovation goes abroad.Guests: Miller Whitehouse-Levine (Solana Policy Institute) | Amanda Tuminelli (DeFi Education Fund) | Adrian Wall (Digital Sovereignty Alliance / Tron DAO US Policy) Topics: CLARITY Act, crypto regulation, SEC, CFTC, DeFi, stablecoins, blockchain policy, US Congress, ethics provision, RWAs
What does faith look like when God doesn't change your circumstances? In the final message of our Habakkuk series, we discover that biblical faith isn't pretending everything is okay—it's choosing to trust God even when life gives you every reason not to. Habakkuk's journey mirrors so many of ours: Chapter 1: He brings his questions and frustrations to God. Chapter 2: He learns to wait and listen. Chapter 3: He remembers who God is and responds with worship. As Habakkuk recalls God's faithfulness throughout history, his perspective changes. Babylon doesn't get smaller—God gets bigger. And when our view of God gets bigger, our circumstances get smaller. Not because they become insignificant, but because they're no longer ultimate. In this message we'll explore: How remembering God's character fuels courageous faith. Why faith isn't the absence of fear. What it means to say "Though... yet I will rejoice." How God often changes us even when He doesn't change our circumstances. Finding strength in God's presence instead of perfect conditions. Whether you're facing uncertainty, grief, anxiety, unanswered prayers, a difficult diagnosis, financial pressure, or a season of waiting, Habakkuk reminds us that our hope isn't built on explanations—it's built on the unchanging character of God. "The righteous live by faith." Scripture: Habakkuk 3 If this message encouraged you, we'd love for you to like, subscribe, and share it with someone who needs hope today.

What feels like resistance may not mean the door is closed. The pressure pushing against you may be the very thing God uses to lift you into a place you could not reach on your own. In this message, Pastor Tim Dilena explores the connection between open doors and opposition. Through the image of an airplane taking off into strong winds, he shows how difficult seasons can produce growth, courage, and a deeper dependence on God. When fear, rejection, uncertainty, or discouragement stands in your way, you do not have to retreat. Through prayer, surrender, spiritual strength, and confidence in what Jesus has done for you, you can keep moving forward with hope. KEY TAKEAWAYS Contrary winds can create the lift needed to reach places you could not reach on your own. An open door does not mean there will be no resistance. Meaningful opportunities often require courage and perseverance. Prayer can shake foundations, open doors, and break the chains that keep people from moving forward. Breakthrough begins with surrender, trusting God even when His direction challenges your plans or comfort. You can face opposition with confidence because your strength comes from what Jesus has already done for you. What is the most important project in Bitcoin? It isn't BIP 110 or some shiny new payment protocol. We actually have a massive security vulnerability sitting at the base layer: Bitcoin mining isn't really mining anymore. Right now, we have millions of hashers but barely a handful of real miners deciding what transactions make it into a block. And that means a few centralized pool operators could easily censor the network. In this Take, I explain why the critical distinction between a hasher and a miner matters. Michael Saylor built his entire identity around one promise: he would never sell Bitcoin. Last week, that promise ended.Strategy's board voted to authorize selling Bitcoin to cover dividend payments and build cash reserves — in the middle of MSTR and STRC crashing to record lows, the yield blowing up, and confidence in the whole experiment starting to crack. Is this a rational pivot? Or the beginning of the end for the world's largest corporate Bitcoin treasury? This week on The Defiant, I sat down with Scott Melker and Kaleo to get into all of it: the hollow signaling, the STRC question, whether Saylor should rip the Band-Aid and sell billions now — and what any of this actually means for Bitcoin.Spoiler: they disagree. Strongly.Guests: Scott Melker | Kaleo (CryptoKaleo)Topics: Strategy, Michael Saylor, Bitcoin, MSTR, STRC, corporate Bitcoin treasury, convertible debt
In this encouraging message, guest preacher Jim Martin walks through Psalm 100 and invites us to embrace a life of defiant gratitude. Rather than allowing our circumstances to determine our attitude, Jim shows how gratitude is a daily choice rooted in the unchanging character and faithfulness of God. Even in seasons of hardship, worship and thanksgiving become a powerful declaration of trust. Listen and be encouraged to cultivate a heart that chooses gratitude, no matter what life brings.

Preaching for the Fourteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time, Theresa Gardner offers a reflection on finding hope amid a world marked by polarization and dehumanization:"The hatred, darkness and pain of the world has brought me to my knees, knocking the wind out of my spirit. But it is the light and the hope of my students and those who are on the margins of society that continue to give me strength- let's look to them together, give each other the hope we need to become more whole."Theresa Gardner, a native of South Jersey, currently serves as Director of Christian Service at Loyola School in New York City. She holds an undergraduate degree in music and theology from The Catholic University of America and a Master of Arts in Theology and Religious Studies from Villanova University, where she engaged with feminist theology, synodality, and ecclesiology. She recently published a chapter in Liturgical Press's The Legacy and Limits of Vatican II in an Age of Crisis, examining women's leadership in the Church since Vatican II. The Ethereum Foundation just cut 20% of its staff and 40% of its budget. Two co-executive directors are gone. And the talent exodus has been quiet but real. But the community didn't wait. In a matter of weeks, 50 institutions and Ethereum leaders came together to form ETH Labs — a new organization backed by Sharp Link, Joe Lubin, and Bitmain, with a mandate to build what the Foundation decided it no longer wants to. Is this a rescue? A power grab? Or the most important moment in Ethereum's 11-year history?Last week on The Defiant, I sat down with Josef Chalom (Sharp Link, the second-largest public ETH holder) and Viktor Bunin (Coinbase) to get into all of it: the funding structure, the credible neutrality question, the ETH asset vs. protocol tension, and what's actually coming in the Glastonbury upgrade — including a technical shift that could finally make Ethereum feel good to use. Guests: Josef Chalom, CEO of Sharp Link | Viktor Bunin, Coinbase Topics: Ethereum Foundation, ETH Labs, protocol governance, institutional adoption, Glastonbury upgrade

For three years, I interviewed accomplished women on this show — surgeons, founders, lawyers, executives. Different fields, different decades, different lives. And every one of them had been handed the same advice: work twice as hard, prove yourself, earn your seat, and figure out the rest of your life on the side. They all paid the same price — burnout, exhaustion, and no guarantee that success was even waiting at the end. I know, because I'm one of them. After 15 years of becoming a double-board-certified trauma surgeon, raising six kids, and following every rule, I almost walked away from medicine. This episode is the relaunch. New name, new mission, new question I want every ambitious woman to start asking. The Professional Muslim Women Podcast is now The Defiant Career — same feed, no need to resubscribe. In this episode: the advice nobody named, why "work twice as hard" was never built for you to win, and the image of the broken ladder you won't be able to unsee. Hey Streetwalkers. This is a throwback episode with Mighty Mighty BossToneS frontman & founding member of The Defiant Dicky Barrett.Dicky first appeared as guest for the 400th episode on 2.26.24 It was such a compelling & fun episode, l decided it needed to be re-visited!Enjoy this throwback episode, tell a friend, and thanks for listening! Dicky BarrettTake a walk with me down Fascination Street as I get to know Richard Michael Barrett. Better know as Dicky; he is also called The Godfather of Skacore. Dicky is former frontman and founding member of The Mighty Mighty BossToneS, and current frontman and founder of the new super group The Defiant. In this episode, we chat about how he came to be the bow-tied plaid leader of The Bosstones, and some of the cool things he got to do along the way. He tells the story of getting to open for The Misfits while he was still in high school, as well as getting to play Fenway Park many years later. Dicky shares stories of meeting and befriending Adam Carolla and Jimmy Kimmel when they were just getting started; and some of the fun things he got to do as a result of these friendships. Adam uses Bosstones' songs in the intro and outro of his Adam Carolla Show podcast; and Dicky was the announcer for Jimmy Kimmel Live for nearly 20 years. Of course, I ask Dicky if I can play my all time favorite MMB song... and he says yes! Obviously we discuss how MMB ended up in the cult classic iconic film Clueless, and what made them decide to do it. Next, Dicky explains what happened between him and the other Bosstones, as well as his relationship with the Jimmy Kimmel Live late night show. Finally, we discuss his new band The Defiant. This super group features former members of: The Mighty Mighty BossToneS, The Offspring, Smash Mouth, Street Dogs, and The Briggs. The Defiant is: Pete Parada, Greg Camp, Johnny Rioux, Joey LaRocca, and Dicky Barrett. Their debut album "If We're Really Being Honest" was released in late October 2023. Naturally I ask him if I can play my favorite song from this new album.... and Dicky said yes again! I had such a blast talking with Dicky, I think we are best friends now! Don't be surprised if you hear more from Dicky on Fascination Street Podcast. This dude is rad as balls. Thanks Dicky! And thanks Mike Dawson, you know what you did.

A child screaming over shoes, melting down after school, or exploding over a tiny disappointment may look defiant from the outside. But in this episode, Dana Kay explains why many ADHD behaviors are not simply "bad behavior," attention-seeking, or manipulation. Often, they are signs of a nervous system under stress. Dana shares one of the biggest mindset shifts she had as both a practitioner and a parent: behavior is usually the last thing happening in the chain. Underneath the meltdown may be blood sugar crashes, gut inflammation, food sensitivities, poor sleep, mouth breathing, nutrient deficiencies, or chronic inflammation. When those stressors stack, the brain and body can shift into survival mode. In this solo episode, Dana walks parents through the biology beneath ADHD behavior, including why after-school meltdowns are so common, how the gut-brain connection can affect mood and focus, and why stable fuel matters for emotional regulation. Most importantly, she reminds parents that understanding biology does not mean removing boundaries. It means learning to respond with more clarity, compassion, and strategy. Their body may be fighting to survive. [01:47] Dana sets up one of the biggest mindset shifts she has had as both a practitioner and a parent. [02:10] Behavior is usually the last thing happening in the chain, which means parents need to ask what is happening underneath it. [02:46] Many ADHD kids are carrying a heavy stress load, and when the body is overloaded, behavior can fall apart. [02:54] Dana shares the Costco meltdown story with her son Oliver and how it became a turning point in how she viewed his reactions. [04:47] When a child's nervous system is overloaded, the brain can shift into survival mode quickly. [06:49] Signs like hunger meltdowns, after-school crashes, tiny disappointments feeling huge, and fast mood shifts are not random. [07:01] After-school meltdowns are often a clue that a child has been masking and holding everything together all day. [08:44] Dana explains that ADHD symptoms often have stacked stressors underneath them, including blood sugar crashes, gut inflammation, food sensitivities, mouth breathing, nutrient deficiencies, and chronic inflammation. [10:06] Stable fuel matters because the brain cannot regulate properly when blood sugar is crashing. [10:13] Dana explains why the gut-brain connection is one of the biggest light bulb moments in understanding ADHD symptoms. [11:57] Understanding biology does not mean removing boundaries. It changes how parents interpret and respond to behavior. [12:43] Dana encourages parents to start simple by looking for patterns instead of reacting immediately. [15:05] Dana closes with the reminder that a child is not broken. Their behavior is communication. MEMORABLE MOMENTS "Their body may be fighting to survive." "But behavior is usually the last thing happening in the chain." "And when the body is overloaded, behavior goes out the window." "His reactions, they weren't random, you know, and that realization changed everything." "Those aren't random." "Home is the place, their body, their nervous system finally feels safe enough to unravel." "If the brain does not have stable fuel, it can't regulate properly." "Just because symptoms are showing up behaviorally doesn't mean the root issue is purely behavioral." DANA KAY RESOURCES

Mea Culpa welcomes back our good friend, Brooklyn Dad Defiant, or simply BDD. BDD is a left-wing political commentator on Twitter, YouTube, and various other social media platforms. His outspoken defiance and often humorous take on the Trump administration have earned him over 1.2 million Twitter followers. Since the riots at the Capitol on January 6, BDD has used his platform to bring attention to GOP lawmakers like MTG, Cruz, Jordan, and Biggs, asking that they face consequences for their actions in connection to the insurrection. In addition, he is keeping watch over Kevin McCarthy and the GOP Congress over what he sees as the far-right hijacking of our legislature and courts to push through a damaging, extremist agenda. He calls himself a proud papa who is perpetually pissed. He's a fascinating guy. BBD and Michael dig deep into Rudy, DeSantis and what's in store for Trump.

Top U.S. officials said Tuesday that the ceasefire with Iran has not ended, despite exchanges of fire in the Strait of Hormuz. 3. HEADLINE: The Machinery of Fear: The IRGC Octopus and Gen Z's Defiant Rage GUEST AUTHOR: Nilo Tabrizy SUMMARY: Nilo Tabrizy details the machinery of state repression, describing the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as an "octopus" influencing the economy and social behavior through units like the Basij. The regime weaponizes grief, attacking funerals to prevent them from becoming revolutionary rallies. Tabrizy highlights the disproportionate targeting of Kurdish minorities, who are often accused of baseless crimes like cooperating with foreign intelligence. Furthermore, she identifies Generation Z as the movement's driving force. Lacking economic prospects and future hope, these young Iranians confront the regime's sadistic violence with palpable, unyielding rage. 31600 ARTAXERXES II
