Food and weight obsession can make Mondays feel overwhelming. After a weekend, vacation, holiday, or social event where you allowed yourself to enjoy food and life, the mental noise can quickly return, bringing guilt, anxiety, self-judgment, and the urge to "get back on track." In this episode, Leslie M. Thornton explores why this cycle happens and why restriction is not the solution. Leslie shares a deeply personal story from her childhood, remembering how she felt after Easter so consumed by thoughts about food, weight, and needing to "fix" things that she felt trapped inside herself. She explains how these patterns can continue into adulthood, affecting your energy, work, relationships, parenting, and ability to be fully present. The Monday scaries aren't necessarily about Monday itself; they can be a sign that there are underlying thoughts, emotions, and patterns that haven't been processed. Most importantly, Leslie explains that you don't need more rules, punishment, or another diet. Learning emotional mastery, understanding your subconscious patterns, and developing the right tools can help you stop living in black-and-white thinking and start experiencing life in full color. Whether it's enjoying a holiday without guilt, accepting natural weight fluctuations, or teaching your children healthier ways to process emotions, healing your relationship with food can transform far more than your eating habits it can change your entire life. Highlighted Quote "Your life is meant to be lived in full color, not black and white." Key Topics & Timestamps 0:00–3:22 — What It Really Means to Be a Healthy Human Being Leslie discusses why people aren't taught how to process emotions, thoughts, relationships, and life in a healthy way and introduces the tools that can help. 3:23–4:13 — Breaking Free From Food & Weight Obsession Why the endless cycle of dieting, overeating, guilt, and starting over can feel mentally exhausting and how to begin taking back control. 4:14–5:26 — Why Mondays Can Trigger Food Noise Leslie introduces the client experience that inspired this episode and explains why returning to normal life after a holiday or weekend can bring anxiety and food-related thoughts rushing back. 5:27–7:58 — From Enjoying the Weekend to the "Monday Scaries" How a fun weekend or vacation can suddenly turn into self-criticism, comparison, diet research, and the desire to regain control. 8:15–11:43 — Leslie's Childhood Experience With Food & Exercise Leslie recalls being 12 years old after Easter and feeling so overwhelmed by food-related thoughts that she felt she needed to run to escape them. 11:43–12:52 — Nobody Teaches Us How to Process Our Thoughts & Feelings Why emotional awareness and healthy ways of processing internal chatter should be fundamental life skills. 12:53–15:40 — Self-Blame, Shame & the Punishment Cycle How one weekend of overeating can lead to harsh self-judgment and renewed restriction and how that reinforces the belief that something is wrong with you. 15:40–17:08 — How Food Obsession Impacts Your Entire Life The hidden effects of food and weight struggles on work, parenting, relationships, energy, and your ability to be fully present. 17:09–18:57 — Real Client Stories: Finding Peace Around Food Clients share their experiences of reducing food noise, overcoming stress eating, building confidence, and finally feeling free around food. 19:08–20:18 — The Isolation of Living Inside Your Own Head Leslie reflects on a time when others noticed she was physically present but mentally stuck inside herself. 20:18–21:58 — Why the Scale Isn't the Enemy Weight naturally fluctuates, and Leslie explains why obsessively monitoring small changes can be a sign of hypervigilance and restriction. 22:07–23:54 — Learning to Enjoy Your Holiday AND Your Monday Moving beyond the idea that indulgence requires punishment and learning when to manage versus when to simply live. 23:54–25:47 — Stop Pushing the Beach Ball Underwater Leslie uses the beach-ball metaphor to explain what happens when you constantly suppress thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and desires in an attempt to stay in control. 25:55–26:26 — Living Life in Full Color Why black-and-white thinking keeps you stuck and how developing new skills can create more freedom and balance. 26:26–28:18 — Changing the Pattern for Yourself & Your Family How your relationship with emotions and self-judgment can influence your children and why modeling healthy emotional processing can create generational change. 28:26–30:22 — Getting Clarity & the HPWL Program Leslie explains the purpose of the complimentary call and how NLP, emotional mastery, hypnosis, and a structured five-step system can help you change your relationship with food. 30:26–31:25 — Free Masterclass: How to Stop the Food Noise Naturally Leslie explains why food noise isn't simply a discipline problem and introduces her free masterclass on using hypnosis to quiet the constant thoughts about food and weight. What if the struggle you keep minimizing is actually preventing you from living the life you were meant to live? In this deeply personal episode of Hypnosis for Permanent Weight Loss, Leslie M. Thornton reflects on a powerful experience at a Tony Robbins event, where nearly $9.2 million was raised in just 30 minutes to help save 18,041 lives affected by sex trafficking. The experience reminded Leslie of the incredible impact that can happen when people come together and use their resources, skills, and privilege to serve something bigger than themselves. Leslie also explores her long-standing passion for ending sex trafficking and shares stories that brought the reality of this issue into sharper focus. She discusses how trauma can affect the nervous system and contribute to struggles with food, body image, and weight, while emphasizing the importance of bringing difficult issues into the light rather than avoiding them. The episode then turns inward, with Leslie challenging listeners to stop minimizing their own struggles with food, weight, anxiety, and constant "food noise." She explains that you don't have to compare your problems to someone else's suffering to justify getting help. When you address the issues that are consuming your mental and emotional bandwidth, you create more space to serve others, enjoy your life, and make the impact you were meant to make. Highlighted Quote "The only thing that's silly about your problem is that you're not taking action on it." Uncertainty can make us feel like we need to regain control sometimes through food, dieting, tracking, or trying to "get back on track." In this episode of Hypnosis for Permanent Weight Loss, Leslie M. Thornton shares a vulnerable update about navigating a major season of uncertainty in her own life and what she is learning from being in the "in-between." Leslie explores how life transitions, relationship challenges, financial changes, career uncertainty, and other circumstances can affect our relationship with food and weight. Rather than treating overeating as the root problem, she encourages listeners to look beneath the eating behavior and identify what may actually be creating the emotional discomfort. She also discusses self-trust, surrendering the need to have all the answers, and allowing clarity to emerge instead of forcing decisions. Drawing from her own experience and the work she does with clients through hypnosis, NLP, and the HEAL method, Leslie explains why learning to sit with uncertainty can create greater happiness, freedom, inner peace, and a healthier relationship with food. Highlighted Quote "Eating is a false sense of control." Key Topics & Timestamps 0:02 – 0:52 — Breaking the cycle of food and weight obsession and learning to create freedom and inner peace. 0:55 – 2:53 — Leslie shares a vulnerable personal update and explains how uncertainty is showing up in her life. 2:53 – 3:31 — Why uncertain periods can lead to bingeing, inconsistency, weight gain, and frustration and why eating may only be a symptom of a deeper issue. 3:35 – 5:21 — Stop waiting for the "right time" to prioritize yourself and break free from the start-over-Monday cycle. 5:25 – 7:42 — Identifying uncertainty beneath food and weight struggles, including career, relationships, finances, and major life changes. 7:42 – 9:01 — Leslie reflects on being goal-oriented, her achiever personality, and being pushed to ask deeper questions about what she truly wants. 9:01 – 10:45 — Lessons from Zero Limits about reaching "zero," creating from inspiration rather than the past, and learning to live in the question. 10:45 – 11:55 — How healing her relationship with food has allowed Leslie to navigate uncertainty without using food as a coping mechanism. 11:55 – 12:42 — Why we try to control our eating when life feels out of control and how food can create only a temporary sense of control. 12:42 – 13:21 — The importance of seeking support during transitions instead of trying to navigate everything alone. 13:28 – 14:17 — Learning a new way of processing uncertainty, making decisions, and developing deeper self-trust. 14:17 – 15:09 — Embracing the "in-between" and allowing uncertainty to create deeper alignment with your authentic self. 15:09 – 16:03 — Why getting support can help you move through difficult seasons without relying on numbing behaviors or shame. 16:10 – 17:09 — Food noise isn't a discipline problem: Leslie explains the subconscious and nervous-system patterns behind it and introduces her free hypnosis masterclass. What if confidence isn't something you need to feel before you take action, but something you build by doing the thing you're afraid to do? In this episode of Hypnosis for Permanent Weight Loss, Leslie M. Thornton sits down with confidence coach Morgan Barkus to explore how body image, perfectionism, fear of judgment, and all-or-nothing thinking can keep women stuck in patterns that affect their food, body, relationships, and everyday lives. Morgan shares her personal journey from struggling with body dysmorphia and restrictive eating to discovering that confidence comes from how you see, trust, and carry yourself, not from a number on the scale or a clothing size. They discuss the power of challenging your fears, wearing what makes you feel good now, giving yourself grace, and replacing rigid rules with flexible, empowered choices. Morgan also explains how small actions, positive self-talk, coaching, and new experiences can help rewire the way you think about yourself. Together, Leslie and Morgan explore what becomes possible when women stop treating food and exercise as a pass-or-fail test. From allowing yourself to eat foods you enjoy without guilt to learning through mistakes and trusting your body's signals, the conversation offers a powerful reminder that freedom comes from self-trust, not more rules. If you've ever felt trapped by perfectionism, worried about what other people think, or believed you have to be "perfect" to make progress, this episode shows you how much more life can open up when you let go. Highlighted Quote "Confidence is just like, you've done it, you've failed, you've learned. Now you trust yourself." Key Topics & Timestamps 00:00 – 02:18 – Introduction to the mental exhaustion of food and weight obsession, and meeting confidence coach Morgan Barkus. 02:18 – 05:59 – Morgan's early experiences with confidence, moving across the country, and learning from her parents to trust her intuition and use her voice. 05:59 – 09:21 – Building confidence through small actions, getting outside your comfort zone, and learning that taking risks isn't as scary as your mind makes it seem. 09:21 – 12:48 – Body insecurity, body dysmorphia, unrealistic beauty standards, and Morgan's transformative experience discovering that confidence isn't determined by body size. 12:48 – 15:05 – How new experiences, travel, and exposure to different people and cultures can challenge limiting beliefs and change the way we see ourselves. 15:06 – 16:54 – Leslie's invitation to stop waiting for the "right time" and get support for breaking free from the start-over-Monday cycle. 16:54 – 20:38 – Letting go of body shame, wearing clothes that fit and feel good now, and giving yourself grace as your body naturally changes. 20:38 – 23:28 – Clearing out "aspiration clothes," finding confidence through what you wear, and learning to do your best without demanding perfection. 23:28 – 26:29 – Moving from black-and-white thinking to empowered choices, focusing on what you can control today, and breaking free from rigid diet mentality. 26:29 – 29:17 – Why 10 minutes of movement is better than doing nothing, overcoming all-or-nothing exercise thinking, and understanding the difference between perfectionism and integrity. 29:17 – 32:15 – Rewriting negative self-talk, using affirmations and journaling, and learning that you get to decide what you say to yourself. 32:15 – 34:53 – The importance of hunger for transformation, accountability, coaching, and knowing when to ask for help instead of trying to do everything alone. 34:53 – 38:07 – Why successful people seek mentors and coaches, and how confidence can grow in different areas of life through support and continued learning. 38:07 – 42:11 – Taking action before you feel ready, using solution-focused thinking, and working backward from the worst-case scenario to overcome fear. 42:11 – 45:15 – Facing your fears instead of avoiding them, normalizing difficult experiences, and discovering what can be learned from even the worst-case scenarios. 45:15 – 48:13 – Building self-trust by allowing yourself to make mistakes, removing food rules, and learning what actually works for your body. 48:13 – 51:30 – Moving beyond "good" and "bad" foods, understanding the difference between "I can't" and "I don't want to," and developing freedom around food. 51:30 – 54:20 – Why every woman's body and needs are different, listening to your body's signals, and finding an approach that feels satisfying and sustainable. 54:20 – 57:05 – The freedom that comes from letting go of food rules, enjoying life without guilt, and being present for meaningful experiences. 57:05 – 58:35 – Morgan's final message on living in full color, where to find her, and Leslie's closing invitation to quiet food noise and create a more peaceful relationship with food. How do you ever get the ultimate life transformation that you've ever wanted to happen to you? You've tried before but nothing ever happened. How can you be sure it's a different story this time? Let me tell you that half of the goal is achieved by just saying yes to the program and the rest of the story happens when you dive in and commit to the process and have the faith that the other person you entrusted yourself can help you. The integrity that comes with being a hypnosis permanent weight loss coach is due to the fact that the tools used are proven by scientific studies made even relatable as the coach himself went through the same experience what her clients are subjected to. The reason why it makes perfect sense. Leslie M. Thornton is a permanent weight loss expert through hypnosis, a coach, a podcast host, an NLP practitioner, and a registered nurse. In this episode, Leslie shares her journey from being a nurse to a transformation coach particularly on hypnosis for permanent loss. Having been through a dramatic experience with weight loss and body issues herself, she has been committed to making an impactful influence in the lives of anyone who went through the same struggles that she had. She talks about how important it is for a coach to make an investment for herself by getting a mentor and committing to walking the talk. As she explained, it is not logical to be telling your clients things you yourself are not willing to do the same. You should step up to your game as your clients look up to you and have a lot of expectations from you.   With mindset work, there are lots of hesitation around this discipline. Questions like, what if it's not for me, what if it doesn't work, crop up. Fear is what is gripping us from stepping into the unknown that could possibly be a solution to what we've been seeking. Until you scare yourself to finally do it, only then will you be lifted of the burden. When you learn to trust yourself and not be uncomfortable around the food you use to dread before that's when you find freedom and you level up your self-confidence because, for all you know, you are not what your thoughts are. And believing in your truth is what truly matters. “Understanding the neuroscience and neuroplasticity and all the research that's been done and habit formation and all of that kind of stuff, it just allowed me to make sense of the entire thing and to keep the confidence up of knowing this actually works on a scientific level of making perfect sense.”  - Leslie Thornton What you will learn from this episode: 03:29 - How was it like to transition from nursing to coaching? 12:55 - Addressing reservations around mindset work 13:42 - “Understanding the neuroscience and neuroplasticity and all the research that's been done and habit formation and all of that kind of stuff just allowed me to make sense of the entire thing and to keep the confidence up of knowing this actually works on a scientific level and making perfect sense.” 17:20 - How do you become an effective coach? 19:24 - What you need to know about the importance of mentors in your life's transformation and in your business' success 21:12 - “The hardest part is making the decision of diving in and staying committed, and trusting that process every step of the way.
