I wanted to share something different today — something that's been coming up a lot in my conversations with women lately and honestly, in my own life too. It's this idea that we're waiting for someone to come save us. Waiting for the magic fix, the person, the event, the miracle that changes everything. But the truth is — no one's coming. The person who saves you is you. For so long, I didn't talk about the hard parts of my story — the trauma, the abuse, the pain — because I didn't want that to be what people saw when they looked at me. I didn't want to be “that girl.” But I've realized that silence was another trauma response. Sharing these stories isn't about staying stuck in them; it's about showing what healing can look like on the other side. I used to believe if I just worked harder, loved harder, stayed positive, things would get better. That's what we're taught, right? Be good, do good, and good things happen. But when you've lived through trauma — when the people who were supposed to protect you didn't — you internalize this belief that if you can just hold on long enough, someone will finally see your pain and come fix it. When my husband was arrested for domestic violence, I remember sitting on the kitchen floor, shaking, completely frozen, and realizing… there's no one coming. I had to figure it out — how to get a protection order, how to start over, how to rebuild from nothing. It was terrifying and lonely. But that's the moment I got in the driver's seat of my own life. That's the thing about trauma: it trains you to look outward for safety instead of inward. You might find yourself waiting for the right partner, the right job, the right body, or the right doctor to “save” you. But no one can do the work for you. You have to take that first step, even when it feels impossible. I see this all the time with the women I work with. They've been dismissed, gaslit, told their symptoms are “all in their head.” They come to me scared to even look at their test results because they've been conditioned to believe their pain isn't real. And then when we go through their Dutch hormone test together and they see, yes, something's actually off — it's so validating. You can see the relief wash over them. That's what I love about this work. It's not me saving them — it's me helping them get back in the driver's seat. Helping them take back control. And that's exactly what the 12-Week Female Hormone Solution is all about. It's not a quick fix or a “magic wand” — it's a guided process to help you understand your body, your hormones, and your patterns so you can stop waiting for someone else to fix you. You get the tools, the knowledge, and the support to start saving yourself. If you've been listening and thinking, “That's me. I'm stuck waiting for someone to rescue me,” this is your sign. Get on the waitlist for the 12-Week Female Hormone Solution. It's where we start shifting from waiting to acting, from surviving to thriving. You'll learn how to work with your body instead of fighting against it — and I promise, that's when everything changes. Because once you realize no one's coming to save you, you stop waiting and start living. You become the person who shows up for yourself every single day. You become the hero of your own story. You are the one who saves you. Learn more: https://drbethwestie.com/waitlist/
Stop Waiting to Be “Ready”—Build a Holy Marriage Now. The Patristic Nectar Marriage Conference 2025 was not a moment too soon - see real reactions! What if marriage isn't just a contract, but a calling from God that shapes who we become? In this story-driven recap from a vibrant Christian marriage conference, we follow the journey from culture's delay tactics—“wait until you're perfect, richer, or have seen the world”—to a Christ-centered vision that treats marriage as the workshop of love. You'll hear why young couples are stepping into vows with courage, how Scripture frames marriage as a covenant and a living icon of Christ and the Church (Eph. 5), and why repentance isn't shame—it's the practical art of repair. Attendees share the relief of replacing unhelpful narratives with habits that actually build a home: daily prayer, honest conversation, small acts of service, and a church community that refuses to let money fears or perfectionism become a wall. What we cover:From “I'll marry when I'm perfect” to “I'm formed by the promises I keep.”Covenant over contract: why vows carry you when feelings fluctuate.Dying to self, daily: forgiving quickly, guarding unity, speaking the truth in love.Beauty with responsibility: welcoming children, stability, and the quiet strength that blesses families, neighborhoods, and churches.Practical rhythms you can start tonight—shared prayer, check-ins, budgeting as a team, and serving together. If you're engaged, newly married, or rethinking commitment, this conversation offers hope, tools, and a bigger purpose: marriage as a holy calling that forms us into Christlike love.If this resonates, subscribe, share with a friend who's on the fence about marriage, and leave a quick rating or review—your words help others find a path toward faithful love.Visit Patristic Nectar and Father Josiah Trenham: https://patristicnectar.org/Questions about Orthodoxy? If you've ever questioned whether what you do matters because it doesn't look “big” enough, this episode is for you. We live in a world obsessed with visibility, numbers, recognition, applause. But what if your quiet, consistent effort is already making a bigger impact than you realize? Because every thought, every action, every moment you choose love over fear, it all adds up. As I near 300 episodes of Woo Woo Wednesday, I've been reflecting and it made me realize something I think we all forget: the quiet, unseen work counts. The time spent thinking, learning, journaling, processing, it all adds up. It's the deposits that create the real body of work. In this episode, I share: Why your “small” actions create massive ripple effects Why your version of impact matters just as much as anyone else's How to stop chasing visibility and start trusting your presence A powerful perspective shift from my grandpa (one of my guides) that reframed what impact really is You're not here to be another version of what already exists. You're here to be you. And the world needs that. Hi friend! Have you ever gone through a season in marriage where things just felt… off? Maybe a little distant, a little disconnected, or just kind of stuck? If so, you're not alone. In this episode, we're kicking off our new Questions Jesus Asked series — exploring powerful questions from Scripture through the lens of marriage. Our first stop is John 5:6–8 (NIV), where Jesus looks at a man who had been stuck for 38 years and asks: “Do you want to get well?” At first glance, it sounds simple — but it cuts deep. Because sometimes, dysfunction feels familiar. Even comfortable. And before healing can begin in marriage, this question has to be answered honestly: Do you really want to get well? Whether your marriage feels distant or disconnected, this episode offers hope, encouragement, and a reminder: healing begins with a choice. We pray this episode blesses you. ................................................................................................

In this energizing episode of Healing Is Hilarious, comedian-intuitive Rachel LaForce finishes her two-part masterclass on momentum with six practical principles to help you meet your future self - without collapsing from overwhelm. Rachel walks listeners through assessing the gap between who you are and who you want to be, why the people you love will never be perfect (and how that's fine), the myth of “doing it the right way,” and the surprisingly radical power of rest.Equal parts cultural critique and down-to-earth coaching, Rachel mixes stand-up wit with spiritual bluntness - calling out the wellness industrial complex, reclaiming main-character energy, and giving quick, usable practices you can actually do between carpool and email. Perfect for creators, busy parents, and anyone tired of staring at a vision board while procrastination quietly wins. Listen for honest confessions, zip-line-fast hard truths (“fast is an illusion”), and a practical roadmap to closing the gap and riding the wave into new rhythms of life.SUPPORT THIS PODCAST AND LEAVE A REVIEW! Building the muscle and practice of imperfect action is essential if you want to craft an intentional, soul-honoring life. This practice helps us show up through fear and feel discomfort but show up fully to life anyway. Three Key Principles of Imperfect Action:Small Steps Create Big Change - One tiny seed planted and watered consistently can bear beautiful fruit over time. Lower the bar and celebrate small wins. Practice "more than zero" when life gets messy. Plan for life's messiness by creating simple, portable versions of your goals. We Find Our Way in Action, Not Before - Movement and vulnerability are required for transformation. You don't need to see the whole path ahead - just take the next step. Show up afraid, messy, and vulnerable. Don't hold too tightly to precise outcomes; you control your choices, not results.A Kinder Way of Being - Honor your wiring and capacity instead of trying to fit an ill-fitting mold. Learn to stretch (not stress) and work with your natural rhythms. Move at a sustainable pace that supports healthy aging and seasonal living.A commitment to imperfect action teaches you to be proud of continuing to show up in ways that are truly life-giving, creating space for presence, delight, and joy amid the messiness of life.Learn about my cycle of self-awareness + self-compassion + imperfect action = agency in episode 62.Learn more about self-awareness in episode 63.Learn more about self-compassion in episode 64.Learn more about imperfect action in episode 65Learn more about reclaiming your agency in episode 66Join the Brave + Beautiful Community this Autumn - doors are open! https://www.alifeinprogress.ca/community/If you join by September 19th (for a year) you will also get the Life Visioning Course for free! https://www.alifeinprogress.ca/guided-life-visioning-process/Get the resource to help you practice Imperfect Action: https://www.alifeinprogress.ca/how-to-practice-imperfect-action/

Title: You'll Never Be Ready - So Stop WaitingHost: Jim FrawleyTheme: “Readiness” is a socially acceptable form of procrastination. Action creates readiness; waiting doesn't.Episode SummaryIf you're waiting until it feels safe, you'll wait forever. In this episode, Jim dismantles the myth of “being ready” and shows why we hide behind planning, perfectionism, and permission-based thinking. Through real-world examples-from founders and athletes to new leaders-he outlines how progress happens in motion. You'll leave with concrete tools: the smallest viable action, the 24-hour rule, the five-minute rule, and a practical way to separate skill prep from courage prep so you can finally move on the goals you keep postponing.Key TakeawaysReadiness is often code for wanting safety. Safety isn't coming; momentum is a choice.Planning can be useful, but over-planning becomes fear disguised as productivity.Action before clarity: reality reveals itself only once you start.Separate skill gaps from courage gaps. Skills are trained; courage is exercised.Use deadlines, the 24-hour rule, and five-minute actions to force movement.Permission-based mindsets from school and work do not map to the chaos of real life or business. If you won't act, stop pretending it's a priority-reclaim the mental bandwidth.Timestamps & Chapters00:00 - Cold open: “You're not waiting to be ready-you're waiting for it to be safe.”02:00 - Readiness as socially acceptable procrastination04:10 - The brain's safety bias and fear of social rejection07:00 - Technical comfort vs. relational leadership: why many stall out10:00 - Why life isn't linear: business plans vs. reality12:30 - Action before clarity: the feedback loop that actually builds readiness15:00 - Three examples: founder, athlete, newly promoted leader19:40 - Practical tools: smallest viable action, 24-hour rule, five-minute rule23:30 - Skill prep vs. courage prep26:00 - Deadlines, consequences, and moving past over-preparation28:30 - Closing challenge: if you won't act, take it off the listPractical Tools MentionedSmallest Viable Action: Identify the tiniest step that moves the goal forward now.24-Hour Rule: If you think of it, take some step within 24 hours.Five-Minute Rule: Do one action that takes less than five minutes toward your biggest goal today.Skill vs. Courage Audit: Write two columns-what skills you must train versus what actions require courage.Hard Deadline: Put a real date on the calendar. The nonprofit sector is hemorrhaging talent—10,000 full-time jobs vanished in the first 70 days of 2025. While many leaders wait for the storm to pass, Nancy Murphy, CEO of CSR Communications, has a blunt reality check: the storm isn't passing. It's the new weather.Nancy has spent her career helping nonprofits navigate disruption and developed the sector's first objective measure of board change readiness. Her diagnosis is stark—leaders are clinging to outdated models while the ground shifts beneath their feet. For the past five years or so, we've been living in what a futurist calls the BANI world– brittle, anxious, non-linear, and incomprehensible. And we know that the pace and volume of change will never again be as slow or as small as it is today, if you can believe that.Today, discover why waiting for stability could be fatal—and what change-ready organizations do differently when crisis strikes.
So many runners tell me they want to lose weight, get stronger, or train smarter—but they keep stalling because they're “not ready yet.” They want the timing to be perfect, their schedule to clear up, their motivation to kick in. But here's the truth: that day never comes. You don't suddenly wake up one morning feeling 100% ready to change your diet or run your best marathon. Readiness isn't something you wait for—it's something you create through action. Every small step you take, even if it's messy or imperfect, builds confidence and momentum. In this episode of Running Lean—“Stop Waiting to Feel Ready”—I'm breaking down why waiting keeps you stuck, why imperfect action is the key to progress, and how you can finally stop stalling and start moving toward your goals today. The post 297. Stop Waiting to Feel Ready appeared first on Running Lean with Patrick McGilvray.

This week's episode is all about doing the damn thing. Inspired by Jen Sincero's You Are a Badass, we explore how to move from wishful thinking into real, consistent action. Because let's face it: Epiphanies are useless without execution. Self-help without follow-through is shelf-help. Trying to be an actor isn't the same as being one. From Passive Habits to Active Action Many actors fall into the trap of passive self-help habits. That looks like reading books, journaling, or attending seminars but never actually taking the uncomfortable, messy steps that move your career forward. Here's the three-part shift: Awareness – Notice your thoughts, excuses, and passive habits. Acceptance – Own them without judgment. Action – Act your way into right thinking and build your courage muscle. Every day, ask yourself: Am I going to the gym… or am I really going to the gym? Be in the 5% Here's a sobering stat: only 5% of SAG-AFTRA members qualify for health insurance. And of all the people who take courses (in any field), only 5% ever implement what they learn. We want you in that 5%. The ones who suit up, show up, and keep going. The ones who build resilience, embrace discomfort, and grow stronger by being brave. Stop Waiting. Start Acting. Waiting is the perfect recipe for self-sabotage. If you want a career, start now. Start messy. Start imperfect. But start. At Acting Business Boot Camp, that's why we've built: The Weekly Accountability Group – so you don't just learn, you follow through. Monthly Classes with Mandy – so you keep sharpening your tools and confidence. The Weekly Adjustment Group – to help you build bravery into your daily life. Because knowledge without action won't book you jobs. Action will. Episode Takeaways Epiphanies without execution don't create change. Awareness + Acceptance + Action = Transformation. Success is about getting comfortable being uncomfortable. Build your courage muscle daily. Don't “try” to be an actor. Be an actor. In this solo episode, Kari tackles a challenge that plagues even the most driven leaders — procrastination. But it's not what you think. It's not about time management or laziness — it's an emotional trap that quietly sabotages your progress. Kari breaks down: The surprising science behind why we delay important actions The true cost of procrastination (hint: it's deeper than missed deadlines) The 3D Detox: Disrupt, Decide, Design — a practical system to get moving again The link between procrastination and self-trust How to shift your emotional state to reclaim momentum and confidence If you've been stuck, stalled, or just “waiting for the right moment,” this episode will reframe everything. Key Takeaway: Procrastination isn't about what you're avoiding — it's about what you're feeling. Master your emotions, and you'll master your follow-through.
