We are still in the series of Faith Walk, this week is about having faith when we pray. If we think that all we need to do is do things for God to give us what we want... we have a false teaching. We are to come in confidence, but it is with faith that His Will be done and He will be glorified.Bible Verses: Acts 12:1-18; Mark 11:24; Hebrews 4:14-16; John 14:12-14----------------------------------------------------------------Top 100 list at Feedspot: https://podcast.feedspot.com/christian_men_podcasts/E: warriorwithin.christianmanhood@gmail.com|TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@pastorwarriorwithinMerch Store: https://wwcm-podcast.printify.me/productsPayPal DONATIONS: https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=KC3DTP8HM7DAEYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@WarriorWithinMinistriesStudios-----------------------------------------------------Affiliated with Talitha Coffee: https://talitha.com/pastordido-----------------------------------------------------Track: Jim Yosef - Samurai [NCS Release] Music provided by NoCopyrightSounds.Watch:Free Download / Stream:http://NCS.io/Samurai

One of the great things about following the Lord is that it's the way that we walk into the place of God's blessings. Today we'll study Joshua 1 and discuss the Lord's exhortations to Joshua to be strong and courageous and how Joshua's obedience brought himself and all of the Children of Israel into the place of God's blessings. Join us! DISCUSSION AND STUDY QUESTIONS: 1.    In Joshua 1, the Lord calls Joshua to lead the children of Israel into the Promised Land. In general terms, was Joshua a young man at this point? Why was a man of his age leading the Children of Israel into the Promised Land? Why weren't they in that land already? 2.    Who died in Joshua 1:1? Why is that significant? How do you think Joshua would have felt having to lead the Children of Israel into the Promised Land without Moses? Was Moses their leader all this time, or what it someone else? 3.    What promises does the Lord give to Joshua in verses 3-5? If you were Joshua at this point, what steps might you have taken to be sure you knew and believed God's promises for you? 4.    What exhortation does the Lord give to Joshua in verse 6? In verse 9, what is similar and what is different about the Lord's exhortations?  5.    Why do you think the Lord called Joshua to meditate on His Word, in verse 8? What kinds of things, practically speaking, do you think this entailed? Why is righteous strength and courage impossible without meditating on God's Word? 6.    Now that the Lord has given Joshua these instructions and exhortations (in verses 6-9), how does faith and obedience factor into what Joshua will do next? 7.    What does Joshua do next in verse 10? What does this signify about his intent to obey whatever the Lord has declared? Do you think it would be easy for an +/- 80 year old man to obey the Lord in this way? What kinds of spiritual perspectives went into his courage and obedience?  8.    What did the leaders promise to Joshua in verse 16? What was their view of rebels in this passage? What does that indicate? What did they also exhort Joshua to do? 9.    Are there any places in your own life where strength and courage are required? What principles can you glean from the life of Joshua that likewise apply to your situation?  Check out our Bible Study Guide on the Key Chapters of Genesis! The Lord takes His covenants with profound seriousness. He expects us to as well. Deuteronomy 29 is another clear example of the kind of heart devotion that goes into our walk with God. Join us! DISCUSSION AND STUDY QUESTIONS: 1.    We've been looking at Deuteronomy 27 & 28 which prepared the people to re-covenant with the Lord. Now they're getting ready. Who is this passage addressed to? What is the setting? How do you think these two factors (the audience & setting) would have shaped how the people would have received this exhortation?  2.    In your own words, summarize the point of verse 4. Why is this important to understand about the spiritual condition of these recipients? Who had to be the one to give them a heart to know, eyes to see and ears to hear? Later in the Gospels, why did Jesus make similar statements about the people He was addressing? 3.    In verse 10-12, the various members of society (from leaders to children to non-Jews) were called to covenant with the Lord. Is this surprising, considering that their parents already covenanted with the Lord in Exodus 24? What is the underlying principle regarding the necessity of each person to individually enter into a covenant with the Lord?  4.    The podcast looked over to Deuteronomy 30:19-20 to spell out the people's side of the covenant. What was instructed in those verses? How does Deuteronomy 13:4 express the idea of holding fast to the Lord? What principles can we glean for our lives today? 5.    Back in our chapter in Deuteronomy 29, verse 18 admonishes them about not having a heart that turns away from the Lord. Why do you think this was necessary to mention? Why is having "a heart that turns away" such a challenge? What are ways that people turn to "other gods" even today? How medical schools help students figure out what kind of doctor they’ll be. Looking at medical school and wondering what you’ll actually *do* with all that training? Like, you know you’ll doctor…but in what way? What will that look like for you? Luckily, most schools have something like the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine’s distinction tracks—formal project-based programs that let med school students dig deeper into teaching, research, humanities, global health, service, or healthcare leadership while they’re grinding through anatomy and clinicals. Dave visits with M2s Tyler Pollock, Maria Schapfel, Srishti Mathur, and M1 Anna Royer for an honest, wide-ranging conversation about what these tracks actually look like from the inside. You’ll hear about Maria’s six weeks in Gabon for global health, Anna’s quilting project for humanities (yes, really), Tyler’s surgery database for teaching, and why Srishti thinks everyone should do the service track. They get into the messy reality of balancing these co-curricular activities with courses, clerkships, and shelf exams; debate whether research culture in medical school is actually helping anyone; and what things get in the way of the other things. If you’re trying to figure out how to become the kind of doctor you actually want to be—not just survive med school—this conversation will show you what’s possible beyond the curriculum. Mitchell Johnson joined Big Four accounting firm KPMG in 2002 and currently works there as a senior audit associate. Alex Johnson works in inbound sales at Weave Communications. Frances talks to the Johnsons about their family's multi-generational ties to the U of U,, the campus's growth and new facilities, and favorite Eccles experiences such as Alex's Business Scholars trips (including visits to Boeing and Amazon), Mitchell's semester abroad in London through Eccles Global and other Business Scholars travel, and Steve's IBM corporate finance internship. They also discuss the value of staying involved as young alumni—especially for in-person networking and forming long-term relationships. Steve shares the reasons why it is so important for his family to give back through scholarships and endowments, influenced by the scholarship support he and his father received and his experience reading scholarship applications on the University of Utah Alumni Board of Governors. They also reflect on how the Eccles School prepared them for different career paths through programs, professional development, and experiential learning, and offer students advice to slow down, broaden their horizons, and take advantage of campus resources and opportunities.Eccles Business Buzz is a production of the David Eccles School of Business and is produced by University.fm.Eccles Business Buzz is proud to be selected by FeedSpot as one of the Top 70 Business School podcasts on the web. What do you hope that they do to stay engaged with the Eccles School? How do you hope they contribute, and what do you hope they're going to gain from that continued connection in your family?[32:02] Steve Johnson: Well, I hope they'll gain the same enjoyment and satisfaction that I did. The ability to feel a belonging, to continue to pass the torch along. The more involved you get and the more involved you get over time, you have a connection to the community. And it's very important. It is part of our community. The power of the alumni network matters more than digital connections[17:38] Mitchell Johnson: In the modern era, things like LinkedIn always are very beneficial to career advancement and building connections. But I think having the alumni network and having all the real in-person tangible connections just goes so, so far. And I think being able to keep, stay in touch with your old classmates, but also meeting people who have been alums for a long time, or who are fresh out of college. It's great just to build those relationships, because you never know how far those could actually take you in life. The career advantage of staying open to new connections[20:16]: Alex Johnson: I think you never know at what point, like, the perfect career opportunity might come up for you. And I think you never want to shy away from those opportunities. And I think just continuing to increase your network is a great opportunity. I think sometimes what might happen is sometimes people, they leave college and they kind of get so focused in one area, they kind of shrink their network. But I think as you continue to build your network and meet new people, like even going to some of these alumni events, I have been able to meet new people who I did not know in college. And that is a great opportunity because you might be able to meet someone who has been in your shoes but was not the exact same age as you.Show Links:Steve Johnson | LinkedInMitchell Johnson | LinkedInAlex Johnson | LinkedInDavid Eccles School of Business (@ubusiness) | InstagramUndergraduate Scholars ProgramsRising Business LeadersEccles Alumni Network (@ecclesalumni) | Instagram Eccles Experience Magazine

    2/26 Deuteronomy 28 - True Blessings & False Worship

    Key Chapters in the Bible

Play Episode Listen Later Feb 26, 2026 15:14

Lots of people want God's blessings, and for good reason. Yet in today's study of Deuteronomy 27 & 28, we'll see that God gave specific promises for blessings and curses to His covenantal people. Yet later on, well-intentioned people took those promises to the Jews and appropriated them for themselves only to find that God was not pleased with their self-motivated false worship. Join us for an important study in God's Word!  DISCUSSION AND STUDY QUESTIONS: 1.    Deuteronomy 28 is a summary of God's blessings that He will give to His people when they are in covenant with Him. According to verse 2, what was their role in this covenant? What kinds of blessings would God bestow on them in verses 1 to 13?  2.    How does verse 47 characterize the proper heart attitude that was needed for their covenant with God? 3.    Were these promises for all people, or specifically for those who entered into the Mosaic Covenant with the Lord? How does the fact that this is God's Covenant with the Jews help us understand why we might still have trials and difficulties in our lives today?  4.    Looking over verses 16-68, what kinds of things would happen to the people if they did not follow God's Covenant? If you were making this covenant with the Lord back then, do you think this long list would have helped motivate you to keep your end of the agreement? 5.    Deuteronomy 27 gives specific instructions about how these blessings and curses were to be communicated to the people once they entered the Promised Land. What were they to do in Deuteronomy 27:5? What were they to do with the tribes in 27:12 and 27:13? Which tribe went on which mountain?  6.    These instructions were later fulfilled in Joshua 8. How did their obedience, in Joshua 8, reflect their heart towards this covenant? 7.    The podcast mentioned that many centuries later, the Samaritans appropriated God's promises to the Jews for His blessing on His covenantal people; and the Samaritans applied those promises to themselves. According to the podcast, what were they doing? Was it right to appropriate God's promises to someone else, and make it their own? 8.    The podcast mentioned that the Samaritans sought to be particularly exuberant in their worship. Why do you think they were so ecstatic in their worship? Was this the kind of worship the Lord sought? 9.    This whole issue came up when Jesus was talking with the Samaritan woman in John 4. While it is not specifically mentioned, it's the basis of their whole conversation about true worship. What did Jesus teach the woman in John 4:22-23? How would this have been at odds with what the Samaritans had been doing? 10.    As we wrap up our study of Deuteronomy 27 & 28, what principles do we see from these passages about trusting and obeying the Lord? 11.    If we're ever seeing something in our life that seems to reflect the warnings of Deuteronomy 28:16-68, how might these verses help us prayerfully determine if we're living out of sorts with God?  12.    Finally, is there any area of your life where you're not worshipping the Lord in your spirit according to His truth? As digital tools reshape the real estate industry, the landscaping sector is experiencing its own evolution. Technology and horticulture are intersecting in new ways, and ServeScape is at the center of that shift. Mario Cambardella, founder and CEO of ServeScape, joins host Carol Morgan on the Atlanta Real Estate Forum Radio podcast to discuss how the company's InstaScape platform connects homeowners directly to local growers and uses artificial intelligence (AI) to support more resilient landscape design. Cutting Out the Middleman in Landscaping Traditional plant purchasing often involves multiple intermediaries, increasing handling and reducing transparency. Cambardella launched ServeScape in 2020 to eliminate that friction while preserving plant health and quality. “I was trying to solve a broken experience, because people wanted beautiful landscapes, but the process was very fragmented,” said Cambardella. “It was intimidating, and it was disconnected from some of the best plant material, the growers. These are the people that put pride and joy into every plant that they grow.” ServeScape operates as an inventory-based online marketplace. Users enter their ZIP code to access locally available plants. Landscaping professionals receive tiered pricing, but homeowners can purchase the same commercial-grade materials for their home projects. By shipping directly from growers, ServeScape reduces handling, preserves plant health and keeps pricing competitive. The platform also manages logistics and last-mile delivery, making locally grown material even more accessible. The company is proud to serve Atlanta homeowners, churches, community organizations and local parks with expert landscaping solutions and materials. Why Planning Now Prevents Spring Landscaping Mistakes “Stop thinking of spring as the start,” said Cambardella. “Winter planning, soil prep, design decisions, plant selection — this is when spring success actually starts.” Cambardella emphasizes that waiting until spring to start your landscaping project often leads to inventory shortages and rushed decisions. Waiting until spring often results in limited inventory and rushed decisions. Late winter provides time to gather inspiration, secure designers and select plants before peak demand arrives. That is also a good time for soil amendments, mulching and installing hardy plant material such as ornamental grasses and evergreens. Gardeners can then add sensitive perennials after Atlanta's average last frost in late April. What Makes a Landscape Truly Resilient? For Cambardella, resilience means designing landscapes that thrive with minimal intervention. They should withstand heavy rains in the spring, heat and drought in the summer and changing conditions between seasons. Cambardella explains that landscaping success often comes down to placing the right plant in the right location. Locally grown plants play a critical role in achieving resilience. National retailers may source inventory from climates that differ from North Georgia's, but local growers have the plants Atlanta homeowners need. By sourcing from local growers, homeowners increase long-term survival rates and reduce frustration, replacement costs and excessive watering. InstaScape: AI-Powered Landscape Design ServeScape recently introduced InstaScape, an AI-powered design tool that helps homeowners visualize potential landscapes using plants that are available for purchase. “We see AI as a way to remove some of the friction,” said Cambardella. “We don't see AI as a replacement for a human — we still believe in the human touch.” Users upload a photo of their yard, select a design style and receive a visual rendering in minutes. Homeowners can use the AI tool independently or add professional services from ServeScape's team of landscape architects and horticulturists. Service options also allow users to scale support based on project needs. The best part? InstaScape is free to use! “There's no payment required for InstaScape,” said Cambardella. “This is a tool that we want to ignite excitement for beautiful and resilient landscapes for all.” Native, Pollinator & Edible Landscapes on the Rise Design preferences across metro Atlanta are shifting as homeowners reconsider turf-heavy yards. Cambardella said clients increasingly request landscapes that serve both aesthetic and ecological purposes. “Native and pollinator gardens are huge,” he said. “We also see a big uptick in more edible landscapes.” Instead of expansive, high-maintenance lawns, many homeowners now favor layered plantings filled with native perennials, flowering shrubs and ornamental grasses. These landscapes support birds, bees and butterflies while reducing mowing, irrigation and chemical inputs. Cambardella also noted that food-producing landscapes are gaining momentum. Kitchen gardens, fruiting shrubs and herb beds allow homeowners to harvest fresh ingredients just steps from their doors. Even small spaces can incorporate edible elements without sacrificing design. “One of the terms that we've been throwing around is food-producing landscape,” he said. “Sometimes a native — you take up some of your yard to do wildflowers or some of that — it might not be food for you, but it's food for birds and bees and butterflies.” That dual-purpose mindset appeals to homeowners who want intentional design with long-term resilience. Rather than installing plants that demand constant replacement or irrigation, they choose species adapted to Georgia's heat, drought cycles and heavy rains. This more natural, garden-forward aesthetic replaces rigid, high-maintenance lawns with landscapes that feel softer and more dynamic. Wildflower meadows, deer-resistant plantings and pollinator corridors now appear in suburban backyards across the region. The result is a landscape that balances beauty with function — one that supports local ecology, reduces maintenance demands and evolves gracefully year after year. “There's a lot of restorative power in the garden,” said Cambardella. “Bring your problem to the garden, and I promise you that there will be something there to inspire you.” Tune in to the full episode to hear how ServeScape is reshaping Atlanta's landscaping industry by connecting homeowners directly with locally grown plants and innovative design tools. Visit www.ServeScape.com to explore InstaScape, discover climate-adapted plant selections and learn how local experts can help bring your landscape vision to life. Hello, Kaiju Lovers! “Godzilla Redux” kicks off with not one but two “gatekeepers” in the kaiju fandom: Jack “GMan” Hudgens and Elijah Thomas (Kaiju Conversation). They along with Nate spend nearly four hours(!) talking about why they effing love the final Showa series film, Terror of Mechagodzilla. It was Nate and Elijah's first G-film and is one of Jack's perennial favorites. While many regard it as Ishiro Honda's weakest Godzilla film and barely give it more credit than the rest of the 1970s G-films, your hosts unpack a laundry list of deep themes and potent symbols. They sing the praises of the wonderful script by Yukiko Takayama (the only woman to write a full Godzilla screenplay), the exciting explosions of Teruyoshi Nakano (who considered this some of his best work), the grossly underrated kaiju Titanosaurus, and the nuanced performance of Akihiko Hirata as Dr. Mafune, among many other things. Our world clamors after spiritual guidance from sources like horoscopes, fortune tellers, even the occult. Today we'll unpack Deuteronomy 18 which lays out, in clear terms, God's view on the occult. Plus, it tells us WHO we should be listening to and HOW we can know if it is God speaking through them. Join us for another powerful lesson from the key chapters of God's Word! DISCUSSION AND STUDY QUESTIONS: 1.    The opening verses of Deuteronomy 18 speak about the financial provision of the priests. Why did the Lord say that the priests were to have the Lord as their focus? What was the principle behind this instruction? How does this tie into Jacob's prophecy regarding Levi in Genesis 49:7? 2.    How was the act of child-sacrifice similar to our modern abortion? Why did God condemn these practices?  3.    Verses 10 & 11 prohibit various kinds of occult practices. Why was it wrong to seek guidance by these means? Will the Lord ever guide us by them? How are these practices still part of our world today? What place should they have in the life of the Christian?  4.    Why were Joseph's or Daniel's or any true prophet's prophecies different from divinization?  5.    When Saul went to the Witch of Endor in 1st Samuel 28, what happened soon afterwards? How was that a fulfillment of the warning here in verse 12?  6.    Verse 14 says that the nations listen to people who practice these kinds of things. Why do people seek guidance by these means? How does this show a lack of fellowship with the true God?  7.    Why is there no shortcut to learning to walk with God and follow His will? What did the podcast suggest goes into knowing God's will for our life?  8.    In verses 18 & 19, what will happen to those people who do not listen to God's true prophets?  9.    According to verses 20-22, how can we determine if a person is a true prophet? How can we determine who is a false prophet?  10.    According to Matthew 24:11, what will false prophets do more of in the end times? Why? How will this cause confusion in the world? According to Matthew 24:23, should we believe them?  11.    The podcast ended by encouraging Christians to not try to find God's will by looking at omens. What should we do instead?  Check out our Bible Study Guide on the Key Chapters of Genesis! Available on Amazon just in time for the Genesis relaunch in January! One of the most important duties of all parents is to teach the Word of God to their children. Today, we're looking at a powerful passage that calls us to always be about the work of teaching God's Word to those around us. Join us for another important study in the Key Chapters of God's Word! DISCUSSION AND STUDY QUESTIONS: 1.    Read over Deuteronomy 6:1-3, why is there such earnestness in these words? What attitude are Moses and the Lord exhorting God's people to have towards His Word? How much do these words match your devotion to God's Word? 2.    Why is this passage called the "Shema"? What does the word "Shema" even mean? 3.    The podcast mentioned that the last letter of the last word of Deuteronomy 6:4 is larger than normal. This is called a majuscule. What did it signify? 4.    What did the podcast say that ancient rabbis called this passage? How often is this passage recited by an observant Jew? Why? 5.    According to verse 5, what should our heart-attitude be towards the Lord? How does this verse demonstrate the interconnection of a heart, soul and strength? What were some ways suggested by the podcast for how we can develop this kind of love for the Lord? 6.    The podcast suggested that the phrase "upon your heart" in verse 6 was indicating that God's people ought to memorize His Word. Do you have a program for scripture memorization? If not, there are many phone apps that are great tools for verse memory. 7.    The NIV translation of verse 7 calls us to "impress" God's Word upon our children. The Hebrew word denotes patient labor and time. Why is it the parent's responsibility to teach God's Word to our children? How can our instruction help prepare them for the barrage of messages from the world? 8.    In verse 7, what do the phrases "sit", "walk", "lie down" and "rise up" indicate about the places where parents are to teach God's Word to their children? What do they indicate about the frequency? If you have children, what are some practical ways that you can faithfully obey this passage?  9.    How do observant Jews literally follow the instructions of verses 8 & 9? Why did the podcast suggest that this should be taken more metaphorically? What are some ways that Christians might follow the spirit of this verse? 10.    This passage teaches that parents have a special role in the spiritual instruction and guidance of their children. Why do parents have this special role? According to Deuteronomy 6, what is their responsibility in these matters? How will God help them as they seek to obey Him in these pursuits?  Check out our Bible Study Guide on the Key Chapters of Genesis! What if most workplace well-being initiatives miss the real issue—not how people feel at work, but how the job itself is designed? In this episode of the HRchat Podcast, host Bill Banham is joined by Carol Atkinson, Professor of Human Resource Management at Manchester Metropolitan University, to rethink what “good work” actually looks like in practice. Beyond pay and benefits, Carol argues that dignity, voice, stability, and meaning must be built into roles from the ground up.Drawing on research across adult social care, SMEs, and gender equity, Carol explains why transactional basics (fair pay, predictable hours) must be paired with the relational experience of work—and why free fruit and yoga apps won't fix excessive workloads or chaotic schedules. We explore how learning labs bring academics, policymakers, and practitioners together to co-design solutions that actually get used, including conflict-management tools developed during COVID. The conversation also tackles job security in an AI-shaped labour market, zero-hours instability, the structural drivers behind the medical gender pay gap, and what practical menopause support really looks like day to day.If you care about HR strategy, job quality, employee voice, and the future of work, this episode offers a clear roadmap: design better jobs, raise the floor through smart policy, and listen to the people doing the work.In this episode, we cover: • What “good work” really means beyond perks • Transactional vs relational elements of job quality • Why job design is the foundation of well-being • AI, insecurity, and the limits of job tenure • Zero-hours contracts and the hidden costs of churn • Employability through learning, skills, and confidence • Learning labs and research-to-practice impact • COVID-era conflict-management interventions • Structural drivers of gender pay gaps in healthcare • Practical and cultural menopause support at workSupport the showFeature Your Brand on the HRchat PodcastThe HRchat show has had 100,000s of downloads and is frequently listed as one of the most popular global podcasts for HR pros, Talent execs and leaders. We often talk about the 10 Commandments, but did you know they were actually given twice to the Children of Israel? Not only that, but the context of this retelling of the 10 Commandments in Deuteronomy 5 clarifies what these commands meant and how the people were to learn them and live by them. Join us!  DISCUSSION AND STUDY QUESTIONS: 1.    What does the name "Deuteronomy" mean? Who was this Second Law given to? Why did they need this law a second time?  2.    In terms of an overview of Deuteronomy 5, what is this passage about? What other Old Testament passage is similar to this one? 3.    What did the podcast say about the word "hear" means in verse 1? What was God calling the people to do? Can we be obedient to this instruction if we barely read the Bible and barely understand it? 4.    In verses 2 &3, what basis is given for these 10 Commandments? Where did their parents already covenant with the Lord? How did this next generation's obedience reflect their agreement to be in covenant with God? 5.    What were God's 10 Commandments that are given in verses 7 to 21? How does the slight wording difference between Deuteronomy 5 and Exodus 20 help clarify what these commands mean? 6.    How does verse 31 speak to the role of the priests back then? How might this be reflected in Paul instruction to Timothy in 2nd Timothy 4:2? Why was this necessary? What would happen to the people if these passages were not followed by the leadership? 7.    What does verse 32 mean by "turning aside"? What would this have looked like in their day? What does it look like in ours? 8.    What is God's challenge for His people in verse 33? What goes into walking in the way of the Lord?  Are there any areas of your own life where you're not faithfully walking with the Lord? What should be done about them? In Episode 168 of the podcast, Chris and Alex are delighted to be joined by Dr Jacqueline Ristola, Lecturer in the Department of Film and Television at the University of Bristol, to discuss the Cartoon Network's adult live-action/animated talkshow parody Space Ghost Coast to Coast (Mike Lazzo, 1994-2008). With research areas including animation, anime studies, media industry studies, and queer representation, Jacqueline is the ideal guest to introduce listeners to the surrealist tone, irreverent comedy, and generic subversions of Space Ghost, with a focus in this instalment on the specific episodes “Sleeper” (S2E7) (1995), “Rehearsal” (S4E1) (1997), and “Fire Ant” (S6E6) (1999). Listen as they discuss Space Ghost's carnival qualities and the role of fantasy-as-critique; media conglomeration, the U.S. talk show wars, and Adult Swim; the labour of cut-and-paste and limited animation as a stylistic advantage; and how the meta-commentary of Space Ghost represents an abrasive challenge to the flow and form of conventional television animation. **Fantasy/Animation theme tune composed by Francisca Araujo** **As featured on Feedspot's 25 Best London Education Podcasts** **As featured on MillionPodcast's Best 10 UK Animation Podcasts and Best 60 Movie Podcasts in the UK**

One of the most important principles of the Christian life is that of living by faith. Today, we're studying Numbers 21 where the people's faith is truly a matter of life & death. We'll see the severity of their situation and how their faith prefigured the faith that we're to have in Jesus as our only way of salvation. Join us for another important study in God's Word! DISCUSSION AND STUDY QUESTIONS: 1.    The podcast mentioned that we skipped over several chapters which chronicled several difficult challenges that the Children of Israel faced. What do you think the people's mood would have been like at this point?  2.    What were the events of Numbers 21:1-3? What did the Children of Israel do? How was this unique? How did the Lord respond to them in verse 3? 3.    Verse 4 sets up the main event of this chapter. Verse 4 mentions that they had left Mount Hor and were going around the land of Edom. This was going to be a 200-mile detour. How did the people handle this in verse 5? How do you think you would have responded to a 200-mile trek that was out of your way? 4.    In verse 6, what was the Lord's response to their complaints? How was their response different in verse 7? 5.    In verse 8, what did the Lord tell Moses to make? What were the children of Israel supposed to do with this? What would happen if they obeyed? Did people obey? 6.    The podcast went over some of the heart change their obedience would demonstrate. What do you think their obedience reflected about their belief in God?  7.    Now, fast forward 700 years to 2 Kings 18:1-4. What were the people doing with the Bronze Serpent in this passage? How did their behavior reflect the people's faith now? What did Hezekiah do with the Bronze Serpent? How did his actions reflect his faith and obedience? How do Hezekiah's actions show us the way to handle anything that gets in the way of true worship?  8.    In John 3:14-16, Jesus refers to this event when explaining the kind of faith we need to have to be saved. How does looking at the Bronze Serpent prefigure the faith we are to have in Christ? What are we to be trusting Christ for?  9.    How is Jesus the only way of salvation, in a way that is similar to the Bronze Serpent being the only way the people could be saved?  Check out our Bible Study Guide on the Key Chapters of Genesis! Welcome to this fact-laden, episode of Light ‘Em Up.As we go to air - we're halfway through Black History Month.2026 marks the 100th anniversary of Black History Month, first established as "Negro History Week" by Dr. Carter G. Woodson in February 1926. The 2026 national theme is “A Century of Black History Commemorations”, honoring 100 years of recognizing the achievements and contributions of Black Americans to U.S. history.Black history is American history! We feel richly blessed and highly favored to sit down and visit, honoring Black History Month, with a dear friend of ours and a show favorite.  Dr. Sandy Womack, Jr.Dr. Womack Jr. has devoted his life to being a servant leader, educator and striving to be the best at whatever he attempts. He is an NCAA All-American wrestler with a doctorate in educational leadership, author, former principal, district administrator, equity trainer, motivational speaker, and much more.He is retired from his current role at the close of January (2026) after a generation (33+ years) of dedicating his life to urban education. This year's Black History Month arrives as our democracy is being tested in unprecedented ways, and the future of the republic hangs in the balance.Dr. Womack expressed grave concerns that we are “in an in between place similar to the times during the Reconstruction era after the Civil War (1865 – 1877) where the Federal Government sent in troops to ensure that the freed Blacks had and maintained the right to vote, to assemble, and the rights to a public education”.Based on reports, executive actions, and policy initiatives from 2025 and early 2026, the second Trump administration has pursued a broad agenda focused on rolling back diversity initiatives, changing civil rights enforcement, and altering educational and economic policies that critics argue disproportionately affect Black Americans.  And federal agents are arresting journalists (Don Lemon) and gunning down civilians in the streets. In this exclusive interview, we'll drill down on:— Assessing the pulse of the country — where are we as a nation and as people with the recent killings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti in Minneapolis?— The importance of taking an active role in the franchise (voting) how voting “changes policy, policy impacts practices and practices impact politics”.He feels deeply that the future “depends on the youth of today” — to see wide eyed the abuses and oversteps by this administration which will “serve as the catalyst to push the younger generation to the polls to vote in large and impressive ways”.He stressed the importance of “collectively coming together” and working to find some “communality” — at the end of the day, we have “more things that unite us than divide” — we sadly choose to focus and give attention to those aspects that are tribal and exacerbate division. We've strayed beyond an inflection point — democracy is actively in peril.“We have to become students of history. We have to read, write, speak and most importantly be able to think critically” to be educated and informed sufficiently to question the current status quo — for those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.He emphatically declares that: “Outcomes won't change until incomes change.” He urges all who will listen to “don't let your lying eyes fool you”.“The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.” ― George Orwell, 1984Tune in to our sponsors Newsly & Feedspot! We want to hear from you!Support the show

Med Students on Long Distance Love: Does It Last?

When medical school forces couples apart, students face tough realities Medical students dish on the messy, tender, and surprisingly philosophical reality of long-distance relationships during med school, from navigating five-hour drives and FaceTime rituals to deciding whether love can survive diverging lives on opposite sides of the world. Dave is joined by co-host M1s Cory Karasek and first-timers Elizabeth Meyer, Margaret Huang, and Jonah Albrecht — each bringing a completely different version of the long-distance story. Liz is making it work with her boyfriend Riley, who logs most of the miles so she can keep studying. Jonah is bracing for the moment his girlfriend Victoria leaves for PA school hours away, still figuring out the logistics while trying not to be, as he admits, aggressively Type B about the whole thing. Cory brings the perspective nobody wants but everyone needs — the relationship that didn’t make it through the distance — somehow managing to be funny, honest, and more or less at peace about it. And Margaret? Well, she opens with “I catfished you guys” and proceeds to deliver an unexpectedly beautiful take on love, friendship, and a 15-year long-distance best friendship that started on Skype in fifth grade. If you’re wondering whether your relationship can survive medical training, this episode won’t give you a formula — but it’ll give you something better. You’ll walk away with real talk on how to have the big conversations before distance hits, when “figuring it out as you go” works best, and how intentionally folding your partner into your new world can be the thing that keeps you from drifting into strangers. It’s warm, it wanders, it goes places you don’t expect — and somewhere between the insider trading jokes and the onesie party bus tangent, there’s genuinely useful stuff in here for anyone trying to love someone from far away while also surviving med school.
