Three radio station owners walk into a bar. They also happen to be owner-engineers of a terrific radio station on a tropical island. We’re talking about Hal Kneller, Joe Fiorini, and Kirk Harnack at Star 94.3, KHKU-FM, in Lihu’e, Hawai’i. We were all here for a broadcasters’ conference, plus some light maintenance at the Star 94.3 studios. While Hal has been a guest on TWiRT, this is Joe’s first appearance. What interesting engineering backgrounds from both of these guys! We talk about AM radios in automobiles, a question of 50 ohms, and some ideas on backing up everything. ===> So, how did Kirk manage to leave an unrelated mic open during the show, providing delayed echo and huge audio coding artifacts? In a hurry? Careless? Not learning the same lesson from our NAB show? Anyway, my humble apologies for the bad audio. Our headphone feeds were great; we didn’t know that Streamyard was recording my laptop’s built-in mic with no way to remove it from the recording later. Extra embarrassing since we worked hard to use the studio mics (one of which has a buzz, so that’s another embarrassment). This is why we should leave the show production to the pros, like our beloved “SunKast”. Over on Kaua'i, two people are recovering tonight after their single-engine plane crashed just near the Lihu'e airport. PLUS: Now that Governor Josh Green has approved the redevelopment of Aloha stadium and the Halawa property, stadium authority leaders are defending the project and their ability to control costs and quality. As Daryl Huff reports, that begins with clearing up more details in the complicated plan.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Welcome to Lihu'e, Hawaii, our 75th small town! Lihu'e is the county seat of Kauai County and the second largest town on the island of Kaua'i. The town was a minor village on the island until the emergence of the sugar industry in the 1800s. Lihu'e became the central city after the construction of a large sugar mill in town. In addition to its importance in the sugar industry, the area is also a favorite spot for the film industry. The area has been used for shots or as a filming location for M*A*S*H, Tropic Thunder, Six Days and Seven Nights, South Pacific, and Gilligan's Island to name a few. The town is also home to the Alekoko Fishpond, a nearly 1,000 year old example of ancient Hawaiian aquaculture. We hope you enjoy all this little slice of heaven has to offer!

TWiRT co-host, Kirk Harnack, is part-owner of KHKU-FM in Lihu’e, Hawai’i. It’s been 2 ½ years since the station, called “Star94.3”, went on the air under the new name, so some improvements and repairs have been needed. The key projects were: Installing an IP-radio link from studio to the transmitter on Mt. Kahili; installing a backup transmitter and antenna; and, wiring remote AC power switching for the main and backup transmitters and other gear at the transmitter. Kirk shares photos and video of the dramatic trips to Mt. Kahili and helicopter “rescue” necessitated by worsening weather.

"Aloha, I'm Dr. Addison Charles Suero Bulosan. Born on Kaua’i in 1986. My parents are Charlmaine and Adams Bulosan. I’ve got two older brothers, Adams Jr. and Adrian, and a younger sister Clarissa. My grandparents are Catalino Sr. and Castora Suero. In that process I became inspired and wanted to help others get their life back just like me. I started my process of getting my Doctors of Chiropractic in the San Francisco Bay Area in 2009 and upon completing my degree I practiced in Daly City until March 2014. Throughout my schooling I had a deep inner calling of wanting to move back home to Kauai but just didn’t want to unless I had something to give back to the community. That calling was answered by my ability to provide Specific Chiropractic Care and in September 2014, I opened my first practice, The Specific Chiropractic Centers - Kauai. Upon arriving home every instinctual part of me for community service turned on. In a very short 6 years I have served on many causes to help our community thrive and I’m constantly being inspired to be more. My journey of music, healthcare, and community service has led me to enjoy a life that I love in a place that I’ll always call home, Kaua’i. I live in Lihu’e with my family and my focus is helping people. I hope this helps you to get to know me. Looking forward to getting to know you. U soudů v Česku pokračují projednávání kauzy lihové mafie. Po šéfovi organizace podnikateli Radku Březinovi, který si za mřížemi odpykává třináctiletý trest, do lavic pro obžalované usedají i údajní odběratelé jeho nezdaněného lihu. V pondělí olomoucký krajský soud uložil trest deset let nepodmíněně dvěma jednatelům likérky z Hluboček. Pavlovi a Petrovi Hemžským. S verdiktem ani jeden z nich nesouhlasí a plánují odvolání.
