Brutalligators started in late 2016 when Paul and Luke met for a coffee and discovered a mutual love of 90s and 00s emo and hardcore. Having been in various hardcore and emo bands throughout the 00s and 10s, they decided to try and write some songs together and Brutalligators was born. Simo and Rhys joined soon after, before they debuted at The Good Ship in Kilburn in 2017. They self-released their first EP Animals I Wish I'd Seen in 2017, following with the second EP Friends I Wish I'd Had in 2019 via Real Ghost Records. Sanchez esta en campana, como siempre. En realidad, Sanchez es una larguisimo 'teaser' de si mismo, una nota a pie de pagina que dura mas que el libro. Lo hemos visto la semana pasada en Radio3, intentando ser moderno, pero solo le ha faltado hablar de Mari Trini. Luego en su jardincito, que uno miraba bien y se preguntaba si las plantas que ha plantado quiza fueran carnivoras. Y, para desayunar, en lugar de fertilizante, las echan chistorras.Tenemos a Sanchez hasta en la sopa. Pero menos que a Franco, que ya parece uno mas del equipo de TVE. Y a mi me parece bien, creo que estamos entrado en unos niveles de degradacion tan grandes que parece que las cosas solo se valoran en funcion de sus consecuencias. Peor aun, de a quien le vienen bien esas consecuencias. Pero no debemos olvidar que algunas cosas tienen sentido per se, con independencia de los calculos. Una de ellas es la historia. Por supuesto que hemos de conocer nuestra historia, por supuesto que hay que acercarse con rigor al franquismo, por supuesto que es necesario hacer un ejercicio serio de divulgacion. Unos para que sean conscientes del ridiculo que hacen al reivindicarlo y los otros para que comprendan que para defender la democracia no hace falta decir tonterias.Pero ya que estamos con las efemerides, creo que no deberiamos parar en el 75, con la muerte del dictador. Ni en el 76 con la ley de reforma politica, ni en el 77 con las primeras elecciones, ni en el 78 con la Constitucion, ni luego con el golpe de Estado, ni con la llegada de Felipe al poder. Aunque, ahora que lo pienso, lo malo es que eso nos va a llevar directos a los 50 anos de la movida, y me lo estoy viendo venir, eso va a ser un infierno de hombres lobo en Paris, de chicas de ayer, escuelas de calor, cruces de navajas y chicas cocodrilo.Y mira, ahi si que le encaja lo de Mari Trini. Quiza podria el presidente volver a radio 3 y, como homenaje, arrancarse con esa que dice: "Por que a mi me ha caido una mesa en el jardin?".
