Moore's Law states that every 1 to 2 years the number of transistors that can fit on a given size computer chip will double. Thanks to this law, chips have gotten smaller, faster, more efficient, and cheaper. But today, there are four key problems that trip up this trend, potentially ending Moore's Law and fundamentally changing how computing progresses. Sajan Saini and George Zaidan investigate. In this episode of the NVIDIA AI Podcast, Tara Chklovski, founder and CEO of Technovation, returns to discuss the importance of inclusive AI. With Anshita Saini, a Technovation alumna and OpenAI staff member, Chklovski explores how Technovation empowers girls through AI education and enhances real-world problem-solving skills. In past week, Vij has spoken against his own govt 4 times. Last Friday, he took a direct dig at Saini, saying that ever since he had become CM he'd been flying in an ‘udan khatola'.
Founder Sukhpal Saini thinks you should consider offering lifetime subscriptions (at least for a time). He knows because he built a Shopify interface for Stripe that just couldn't hold down recurring customers. Called Reetail, Sukhpal operated the application for two years and got consistent users. The problem was they all were selling products in relatively low volumes. It was hard for them to justify subscribing to his platform. As Sukhpal's other side business, Engyne began to grow, he also had less and less time to dedicate to Reetail. Feeling like he'd given all he could to the product, he decided to sell in the best place he knew: Acquire.com. Sukhpal says his experience on Acquire.com was extremely straightforward. His buyer offered him the exact price he was looking for and paid all in cash. Post-acquisition, Sukhpal shared how he got his sale to go off without a hitch, including: Creating multiple accounts for all his paid software, to facilitate an easy handoff Creating a clear list of why buyers should be interested in your product Setting aside a transition period to over all elements of your business with the buyer The tradeoffs of lifetime vs. subscription-based business models The advantages of including a “Risks and Limitations” component in your listing. From selling deceased patients' body parts to denying cancer treatment over upfront payments, the Lown Institute's annual Shkreli Awards spotlight the most egregious examples of profiteering and dysfunction in American healthcare. Dr. Vikas Saini, President of the Lown Institute, walks us through 2024's (dis)honorees and what they reveal about the state of our healthcare system. We cover:
You remember a guy named Martin Shkreli? If his name rings a bell, it's probably because back in 2015, he jacked up the price of an old drug — from around $13 a pill to $750. The media dubbed him “the pharma bro,” and he became a symbol of brazen pharmaceutical greed. Now, he's the namesake for the Shkreli Awards — a kind of Oscars for the most outrageous examples of greed, fraud, and general brokenness in American health care. Every year, a health care think tank called the Lown Institute ranks the top ten worst stories and holds an award ceremony to “honor” the winners. We're bringing you highlights from this year's ceremony – featuring things like human bones for sale without the consent of the deceased or their families, phantom urinary catheters, and so much more – and some reflections from the Lown Institute's president, Dr. Vikas Saini. “Showing all these stories together paints a picture of a health care system in desperate need of transformation,” Saini said at the ceremony. “Not just because the stories are shocking, but because often what they're depicting, like Martin Shkreli's infamous price hike, is perfectly legal.” Here's a transcript of this episode. In this special episode of the Kaka Balli Punjabi Podcast, I'm joined by Dr. Vishal Saini (PhD) for a deep dive into the fascinating future of humanity in space, and the profound changes technology and AI could bring to our lives on Earth. Here's what we discuss: SpaceX Catching a Rocket – A Game Changer: We explore SpaceX's incredible feat of catching rockets upon return, a breakthrough that makes space travel more sustainable and economical. We discuss the potential for reduced costs, increased accessibility to space, and how this innovation might reshape industries on Earth. When Will We Leave Earth and Settle Elsewhere? Dr. Saini shares his insights on how long it might take before humanity can seriously consider leaving Earth to live on another planet or moon. What advancements and milestones must we achieve before we can even think about packing our bags for space? Where Will We Live First – The Moon or Mars? We discuss the possibilities and challenges of establishing human habitats on either the Moon or Mars. From the Moon's proximity to Mars's similarities with Earth, we weigh the pros and cons of each and the obstacles we'll face in building a sustainable life off-planet. Simulating Mars on Earth for Astronaut Training: NASA and other space agencies are creating artificial Mars-like environments on Earth to prepare astronauts for life on other planets. Dr. Saini explains how these simulations help us understand the psychological and physical demands of space life, giving us a glimpse into how challenging it will be to adapt to alien conditions. Providing Energy Beyond Earth: Sustaining human life in space demands immense energy resources. We discuss the concept of the Kardashev Scale and the Dyson Sphere—ideas that suggest how advanced civilizations might harness energy from stars. What are the hurdles of producing and storing energy in space, and how might solar energy be adapted for extraterrestrial use? Harnessing Solar Energy in Space – Potential and Challenges: Solar power could be a crucial energy source for space colonies, but there are technical and logistical challenges. Dr. Saini delves into the intricacies of harnessing and distributing solar energy outside Earth's atmosphere, touching on the possibilities and limitations of this technology. Why We Need to Expand Beyond Earth: Given the risks of climate disasters, nuclear war, and other existential threats, we discuss the need for humanity to explore life beyond Earth. Dr. Saini outlines why spreading across planets could be essential for human survival, and what dangers staying confined to Earth might hold. The By-products of Experiments and the Ethics of Research: Experimentation in fields like space exploration often yields unexpected innovations that benefit society. But should we pursue advancements in all areas? We debate the ethical implications of research, balancing potential rewards with the risks. Limited Resources and Human Survival: Earth's resources are finite, and our growing population strains what's available. We discuss how this limitation could propel us toward new planets for resources and survival, and what sacrifices might be needed along the way. Challenges of Time in Space Travel: Time in space operates differently due to relativity, which could complicate long-term space missions and interplanetary life. We discuss the impact of time dilation on human experience, and how future space travelers might perceive time and aging differently. AI and the Future of Education – Is It Redundant? With rapid advancements in AI, Dr. Saini explains how education as we know it might change. Could AI make traditional knowledge-based learning obsolete, focusing instead on creativity and problem-solving skills?

On April 8, Mainers will have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness a rare cosmic event without traveling out of state: a total solar eclipse. Space enthusiasts from across the U.S. are flocking to communities in rural Maine like Jackman and Houlton and enjoy three-and-a-half minutes of totality, when they can see a ring of light surround the moon as it blocks the sun. Shawn Laatsch, the director of UMaine Versant Power Astronomy Center, and his graduate student, Nikita Saini, have been preparing for the event for a long time. They are coordinating the viewing and recording of the eclipse, through which they will gather valuable data. On this episode of “The Maine Question” podcast, Laatsch and Saini discuss the spectacle and how to experience it safely. They will also describe what inspires them to study the cosmos and answer various questions about space, such as whether there is life on another planet and what the best space-based movies and TV shows are.
