Windermere is the Official Real Estate Company of the Seattle Seahawks, partnering to donate $100 for every defensive tackle at home games to Mary's Place, which provides safe, inclusive shelter & services for women, children and families. One of the Seattle-area's great community leaders, Chef John Howie, is tackling hunger with a series of events this year. Next up, "Taste of the Seahawks" on November 1st. This week, Lisa’s guest is Michelle Gannon, co-founder of Mary's Place By The Sea. Mary's Place is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing a place for women with cancer to heal mind, body and soul. They provide services that complement their medical treatment, including oncology massage, nutrition, education, individual counseling, Reiki, guided meditation, expressive writing, and yoga. Since 2009, over 9,000 women with cancer from around the country have become "guests" of Mary's Place. There are overnight stays, and day stays, as the waiting list is six months. 

We’re back with Michelle Gannon, co-founder of Mary’s Place By The Sea.  Their new facility is a beautiful ten room home located on Main Street in Ocean Grove. Vegan meals are prepared for the women, and rooms overlook the ocean from balconies and a large porch. Mary's Place is celebrating their ten year anniversary on Saturday, October 19th at Asbury lanes in Asbury Park with music and comedy. Linda Mitchell, Director of Communications for Mary's Place Seattle a non-profit organization responding to the needs of the homeless in our community for nearly 2 decades, focuses the lens on the needs and the support the community provides-- items, which also includes buildings! and funds, to help those in need. Many of the homeless are families and find themselves in this situation just this once. The support they receive helps them to get back on their feet and thrive once again. Popsicle Place is a family home where a child is undergoing treatment at Children's. They don't have to live in their car, but have a warm place to be together. There's a big musical fundraiser Thursday December 14m 7pm at the Amazon Meeting Center, 7th Ave. Seattle raising funds for the 2017 campaign 'no child sleeps outside'.
