December is your release season. The weight, the wound, the pride—it can't come with you into the next year. Let It Go is about closure, surrender, and making space for what's next. Healing doesn't always start with holding on—sometimes it starts with letting go. This series is a spiritual cleanse before the crossover; a final reset that frees your hands for what God is about to place in them.

Making lemonade from the lemons of life is the theme to this week's Loose Ends. The comedian Omid Djalili was so incensed by having his shows cancelled after 9/11 due to his Middle Eastern heritage that he devised a stand-up tour called Namaste so he could let off steam as well as make us laugh. Elizabeth Day's How to Fail podcast is, ironically, a massive success, but she says her latest novel - a darkly humorous political satire - draws on her own feelings of being an outsider. Neil Morrissey had an ill-starred childhood but managed to head straight for the limelight in Men Behaving Badly, Line of Duty and is now playing Jacob Marley who brings redemption to Scrooge in A Christmas Carol. And Taskmaster contestant and comedian Ania Magliano attributes her personality to growing up playing with Sylvanian family toys rather than Barbies - find out how that inspired her new stand up show, Peach Fuzz. And a performance from Dracapella, a comedy retelling of the Dracula story, introduced by its writer Dan Patterson, the creator of Whose Line Is It Anyway?Producer: Olive Clancy Assistant producer: Samuel Nixon Technical Production: Giles Aspen and Gayl Gordon

Send us a textIn this episode, we explore one of Scripture's most familiar stories—David and Goliath—but with fresh eyes. The true drama isn't found in the size of the giant, but in the contrast between two ways of living: walking by sight and walking by insight shaped by the Word of God.Everyone in the chapter sees a giant—except David. David sees a blasphemer defying the armies of the living God, and more importantly, he sees the Lord Himself. That difference—sight versus insight—is the difference between fear and faith, paralysis and courage, human calculation and holy confidence.Key Themes1. The Power of Insight Over Visual SightGoliath mocks David, seeing only a boy with a stick.David sees a man defying God—an offense that places Goliath not against David but against the Lord of hosts. Those who rely on appearances are inevitably shaken; those who rely on Scripture are strengthened.2. The Lord Who DeliversDavid recounts how God rescued him from the lion and the bear—training ground for a giant. His confidence is not in technique, skill, youth, or courage, but in God's past faithfulness.3. The Real BattleDavid declares, “The battle is the LORD's” (1 Sam. 17:47).Victory is not achieved by sword or spear, but by divine intervention.4. The Outcome: Fear Flees, Faith AdvancesWhen Goliath falls and David uses the giant's own sword to finish the battle, the Philistines flee. What men interpret as weakness becomes the very means of God's triumph.5. The Loose Ends and the Larger PointThe chapter closes by identifying David's father, Jesse—because David's victory brings reward, promise, and recognition.Yet the deeper truth is theological:Who you are determines what you see.A heart shaped by Scripture sees reality as God defines it.The TakeawayThose who walk by sight are filled with fear. Those who walk by insight—biblical insight—are filled with faith.True courage flows not from personality or temperament, but from knowing God, meditating on His Word, and viewing every circumstance through the lens of His sovereignty.Support the showTo listen to my monthly church history podcast, subscribe at; https://thehistoryofthechristianchurch.buzzsprout.com For an ad-free version of my podcasts plus the opportunity to enjoy hours of exclusive content and two bonus episodes a month whilst also helping keep the Bible Project Daily Podcast free for listeners everywhere support me at;|PatreonSupport me to continue making great content for listeners everywhere.https://thebibleproject.buzzsprout.com

Loose Ends is cavorting among the snow-caps of Cumbria at the Kendal Mountain Festival this week. Chef d'Equipe Stuart Maconie reaches for the summit of chat with navigation from the adventurer and broadcaster Ben Fogle - celebrating twenty five years since he was Castaway on a remote Scottish island for the BBC reality TV show that he says is more relevant today than ever. The award-winning writer Sarah Hall provides forecasts as she describes the star of her new novel Helm - a personification of Britain's only named wind, the puckish, mercurial, destructive force of the Eden Valley she grew up on. Horrible Histories author Terry Deary confesses to being an inveterate townie, but keeps our spirits up with gruesome tales from his latest book Revolting, which asks what would make you fight the power and how would you do it? He cites the Suffragists and their daring idea to wrap themselves in brown paper and post themselves to Downing Street. With music from rising Americana band Smith and Liddle who hail from the Northeast and Cumbrian singer-songwriter Holly Brooke. Clive Anderson is joined by a giggle of comics or should that be a brace of jokers in the Loose Ends studio this week. Fawlty Towers creator John Cleese recalls being told his nascent sitcom - 50 years old this year - would fail if they didn't "get it out of the hotel more". Sue Perkins describes the urge to get out on a stand up tour again after a decade presenting shows from Great British Bake Off to Just a Minute, her show is called The Eternal Shame of Sue Perkins - what could be so embarrassing? Judi Love is on our screens practically daily - on ITV's Loose Women or shows from Taskmaster to The Wheel but she too is drawn to the stage - what gives? Meanwhile Hugh Dennis is not on tour, but he's on stage, as Rev Chasuble in the National Theatre's production of The Importance of Being Earnest - he may not be planning to go all churchy but he does feel right at home in clerical garb. With music from Editors front man Tom Smith with a track from his forthcoming album There Is Nothing In The Dark That Isn't There In The Light and from Natalie Duncan Trio with her new single Breakaway before her London Jazz Festival gig.Produced by Olive Clancy

The discussion addresses remaining questions about the moral gap between Mosaic law and early Christian teaching, arguing that Scripture reflects a progressive moral pedagogy rather than an immediate ideal. The framework employs natural law theory and Eastern Orthodox theology to distinguish between morally impermissible slavery and morally acceptable servitude arrangements, while contextualizing Old Testament ethics within the Ancient Near Eastern cultural baseline from which God drew his people toward eventual Christian perfection. All the links: Substack: https://nathanajacobs.substack.com/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thenathanjacobspodcastWebsite: https://www.nathanajacobs.com/X: https://x.com/NathanJacobsPodSpotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/0hSskUtCwDT40uFbqTk3QSApple Podcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-nathan-jacobs-podcastFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/nathanandrewjacobsAcademia: https://vanderbilt.academia.edu/NathanAJacobs00:00:00 Introduction 00:01:20 Recapping the Slavery Episode 00:08:20 Recapping the Polygamy Episode 00:10:00 Recapping the Genocide Episode 00:11:27 Why a 4th Episode? 00:15:00 Slaying of Innocence 00:19:45 Possibility #1 00:20:30 Possibility #2 00:22:15 Possibility #3 00:23:40 The Rich Man and Lazarus 00:27:30 The Most Troubling Psalm 00:36:17 Lingering Concerns with Genocide 00:42:35 Are the Innocent Damned? 00:46:35 Loose Ends with Slavery 00:53:29 The Law and Moral Progress 01:00:50 Sensitivity of Moral Faculties 01:06:15 The Ideal of the Logos

The actor Nigel Planer will forever be associated with the character Neil from The Young Ones, so much so that Nigel's Mum thought he was vegetarian because Neil was, though Nigel definitely isn't. At least, he says, she remembered his name. His autobiography - Young Once - reflects the fact that brilliant though Neil is, Nigel has done far, far more than that as a poet, author and performer. Life merges with art, or at least comedy in Bryony Kimmings' new show - Bog Witch - too. It's all about what happened when she moved to the country, had an eco-conversion and found out the difference between a frog and a toad. Rowan McCabe's written about being a doorstep poet, who knocks on the doors of perfect strangers and offers to write them a poem about the things that mean most to them. However, this album completely surprised us.   ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------   Patreon https://www.patreon.com/everyalbumever   Merch https://pandermonkey.creator-spring.com/   Mike's EP: Pander Monkey on Bandcamp, Spotify, Apple,   Mike on Instagram @pandermonkey Alex on Bluesky @octatron3030 Tom on Instagram @tomosmansounds   History Tom's stuff: Music on Spotify, Apple Podcast on Spotify, YouTube Substack Website   ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Comedian and actor Jordan Gray is having a busy summer, her new sitcom Transaction hit our screens in June and her stage show promises to be her rootin-est, tootin-est, shootin-est hour of musical comedy so far. Stand-up Jamie MacDonald doesn't want being blind to shut down his opportunities to be loathsome and toxic. Plus comedian Dylan Adler on growing up one half of a pair of identical gay twins. With music from Hot Mess, a musical that rides the highs and lows of Earth and Humanity's passionate love affair, and Nigerian singer-songwriter James Emmanuel shares his love for Edinburgh, the city he now calls home. Thanyia Moore is back at the Edinburgh Fringe for her first time since 2022 – a summer that she looks back at in her aptly named August. Switzerland's answer to John Oliver – Michael Elsener – gives his top tips on How to Live in Paradise, and explains where flooding a leading politician's post box with compression stockings comes in to it. Plus writer and storyteller Niall Moorjani shares how their new show Kanpur: 1857 manages to incorporate gender, an Indian uprising against British colonial forces, and comedy. With music from Karine Polwart and Dave Milligan who are raising a parting glass to a 200-year-old palm tree in Windblown, and Couplet who are spending their Honey Honey Moon Moon performing at the festival.
