The main point of the Bible is absolutely amazing. Through the price paid by his One and Only Son, God the Father forgives repentant sinners and welcomes them home The post It's Safe to Come Home appeared first on Intown Lutheran Church.
This teaching is from Matthew 27:26-49, Psalm 22:1, 7-8 Today's story is the crucifixion of Jesus. We pick up our story with the flogging of Jesus. Pastor describes what Jesus experienced in this brutal method of torture. Jesus was then brought to the preaetorium in front of all the soldiers where He was mocked and beaten before they lead Him away to be crucified. Simon from Cyrene was forced to carry Jesus' cross as they walked to Golgatha because Jesus was too weak from the brutality He experienced. Once on the cross they offered Him wine mixed with gall, but Jesus refused to drink it. What was this drink? Evidence that has survived points to a tradition that the women of Jerusalem prepared a wine mixture that was intended to dull the pain of an individual who was being tortured or crucified. But we see Jesus refusing to drink it. The Son of God chose to endure the pain without having anything to easy it. He chose to willingly suffer the agonies of the damned for each of us. Then they cast lots for His clothes and place a sign with the charge against Him: “This is Jesus, King of the Jews.” Pastor shares a detailed description of Jesus' cross. The story continues with taunting coming from the gathered crowd and as darkness covers the sky from noon to 3pm. Jesus cries out to God the Father highlighting David's prophetic words from Psalm 22:1. Note also the prophetic fulfillment of the words of verses 7-8: All who see me mock me; they hurl insults, shaking their heads. “He trusts in the Lord,” they say, “let the Lord rescue him. Let him deliver him, since he delights in him.” 7 Words of Jesus from the Cross ⁃ Father forgive them they know not what they do ⁃ Today you will be with me in paradise ⁃ Woman, behold your son ⁃ My God, my God, why have you forsaken me ⁃ I thirst ⁃ It is finished ⁃ Father into Thy hands I commend my spirit Jesus' crucifixion is the greatest love story the world has ever heard. The Only Son of God willingly saved us and it ought to drive us to our knees in tears and holy awe. Pastor ends today's class with the encouragement to read through the rest of the story before joining us again next week. Thank You for tuning in! Happy Valentine's Day to all of you! Speaking of love do you realize just how much God truly loves you? John 3:16 says “For God so Loved the World that He gave Hus One and Only Son for Us, that whoever believes in Him (puts their trust in Him by faith) will not perish (will not die) but will have everlasting life” God wants to spend all eternity with you! God sent His Son Jesus to pay the cost for our sins, that is Love & Redemption!!! God Bless You!! I pray this episode has blessed you and brought you closer to making a decision to have a relationship with God through Jesus Christ!
We have come to the end of The Apostles' Creed – and what a wonder that these are the truths we believe, these are the truths that shape us, these are the truths that reveal the nature of God in His word! The work of Jesus has given us a certain and true hope: our sins are forgiven. And sin itself will be removed and destroyed – there will be a day of great renewal, and this has been shown in Jesus: we will all be raised, given new bodies fit for dwelling with God! That will be a one-off moment, but its impact will be felt for eternity! God – the Father, Son and Spirit – have worked in faithfulness to bring before God a people of His own, to live with Him forever. God is so good! A great summary is in John 3:16: ‘For God loved the world in this way: He gave His One and Only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.'

Music for Meditation, "Herr Christ der einig Gottes Sohn" Lord Jesus Christ the Only Son of God (Johann Gottfried Walther: 1684-1748)
Often, in the midst of suffering or personal failure, it is not uncommon to begin to wonder if God is really for us. Throughout the Old Testament, we see that from Adam on, even the best of people had times when they felt like God was against them. This war with God came to a climax when God sent his Only Son only to watch people murder him. In this sermon, we will discuss how it is that we often function as if we are at war with God, and we will discuss the peace that Jesus came to offer us. Our hope is that by the end of this message, we will find ourselves overwhelmed with the reality that our God is really FOR his people.
There is a shroud that hangs over all of mankind. It is this heavy blanket that casts darkness and obscures the glory and splendor of our God. This shroud is the shroud of death and it is there on account of sin. God sent his One and Only Son to suffer the result of sin - death - on our behalf. That through his death and through his resurrection, we may have life - eternal life, in heaven. Heaven... a place where the shroud of death has been removed. Heaven... a place where there is no more tears and no more pain. Heaven... a place where we will see God with our own eyes and we will join believers of all time in praising God. Heaven will be amazing! The belief in heaven doesn't just mean we are waiting around here on earth to enter heaven. The belief in heaven has a direct impact on your life here and now. Tune in to the sermon to hear how! If you enjoy this content from Sure Foundation, be sure to click the SUBSCRIBE button, so that you never miss any gospel content from Sure Foundation! Thank you!

Christ is the only one who can articulate the law, and fulfill it. He becomes the perfect fulfillment of the love of God and the love of neighbor, by his sacrifice as God's Only Son on the cross. He makes visible God's love for us, and shares with us the Holy Spirit. We can join ourselves to him to make our imperfect sacrifice acceptable to God, and by his strength to love one another. We can help that happen by a short prayer done every morning and every evening.
God's One and Only Son fearlessly hurled himself into trouble - in order to meet us where we are, and make us his brothers and sisters, and rescue us, and save us. The post God the Son appeared first on Intown Lutheran Church.
SHOW NOTES Well, Hey Framily! Welcome to Coffee & Kathy, this is Stef from the Grief 2 Great Day Podcast. You are listening to our weekly devotional episode. Grief is the hardest thing you'll ever face, don't ever let anyone diminish that – but let's also not diminish the power of God's Word and the transformational healing He will do in your life. I am a living testimony of going from pitiful (heartbroken, years of tears, angry at God & the world, overwhelmed and confused) to powerful (at peace, joyful and strong in my trust, hope and faith in God). You are not alone and your today does not have to be your forever! Oh, I'm so glad you're here today! What you need to do now is be still and just listen. Memorable Quote: But then there is the God of the Bible. The One Who has revealed Himself in the pages of Scripture. The God Who IS – not the One I think He is. Or even the One I want Him to be. God the Father, seated on His throne. Sovereign over all things. With ultimate control of every circumstance. ALL powerful. ALL knowing. Completely pure. Holy. Perfect in all His ways. The One who “…who changes the times and the seasons” and “…removes kings and establishes kings.” (Daniel 2:21) The One who makes “the king's heart like channels of water” in His hand, turning it “whichever way He wishes.” (Proverbs 21:1, AMP) The One Who “delights in every detail of our lives”. (Psalm 37:23, NLT) The One Who “daily carries us in His arms” (Psalm 68:19, NLT) The One Who showed us His holiness in the giving of the Law, knowing we would break it. And then also gave us His One and Only Son as the substitute for our punishment, knowing He did not want to live without us. And that is just the beginning of Who the Bible says He is. Pastor Jeff is teaching us that Jesus is teh Only Way to Heaven, and he remind us that God stills speaks to us today and tell us that Jesus is HIs One and Only Son. And He does that by the power of His Holy Spirit. Matthew 16:16-17 16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” 17 Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven.
This week, Brandon McCauley shared with us on the words "His One and Only Son" from John 3:16. The old testament law was only meant to cover our sin, not atone for them. That is why we needed the Messiah, Jesus Christ! “The biggest enemy of learning is knowing” John 3:16 is a verse we may all know, but what if there's way more here for us to learn and obey? Join us for God So Loved, a series through the twenty-four words of John 3:16 to discover the full meaning behind one of the most well-known Bible verses of all time.

Catechism of the Catholic Church Paragraphs: - 219 (in 'God is love') - God's love for Israel is compared to a father's love for his son. His love for his people is stronger than a mother's for her children. God loves his people more than a bridegroom his beloved; his love will be victorious over even the worst infidelities and will extend to his most precious gift: "God so loved the world that he gave his only Son." - 444 (in 'The Only Son of God') - Jesus calls himself the "only Son of God", and by this title affirms his eternal pre-existence. He asks for faith in "the name of the only Son of God" (abbreviated). - 458 (in 'Why did the Word become Flesh'?) - The Word became flesh so that thus we might know God's love: "In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him." "For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." - 678-679 (in 'To Judge the Living and the Dead') - Following in the steps of the prophets and John the Baptist, Jesus announced the judgement of the Last Day in his preaching. Then will the conduct of each one and the secrets of hearts be brought to light. Then will the culpable unbelief that counted the offer of God's grace as nothing be condemned...Christ is Lord of eternal life. Full right to pass definitive judgement on the works and hearts of men belongs to him as redeemer of the world. He "acquired" this right by his cross. the Father has given "all judgement to the Son". Yet the Son did not come to judge, but to save and to give the life he has in himself. By rejecting grace in this life, one already judges oneself, receives according to one's works, and can even condemn oneself for all eternity by rejecting the Spirit of love (abbreviated). Today is a powerful day representing the most destructive act by mankind in all of our History - the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ. It is hard to believe that Mankind could have ever been so cruel. But even more unbelievable is that as the crowds circled Jesus with Hate, He was at the same time Asking His Father to forgive them for just what they had done. Let us take this day, this time, to remember that "God so loved the world - that he freely gave His One and Only Son to forgive them and take away their Sins"." "Greater Love Hath No Man Than This!"
Please join Pastor Jeff in another great episode of our series - The Way to the Savior. Today's Scripture is a reminder that God proved His love by sending His One and Only Son, Jesus, to die for our sins. Romans 5:8 8 But God proves his own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Today as we begin to our study and meditate on Psalm 76, we are now beginning our journey through the second half of the 150 Psalms. First let me say how thankful I am that you are on this journey with us on a daily basis. I always knew that as a pastor I really couldn't retire, and I wondered exactly what the Lord might have me doing during these “retirement” years. It was an awesome privilege and responsibility to be a senior pastor of three great churches over those 47 plus years of ministry. Now I have an “invisible” audience over the social media to you and many others that allows me to continue to do what God called me to do and that is to “Make Him Known”! The heartbeat of God is that the world of people, that He loved so much that He sent His One and Only Son to die for, would know Him, love Him, and live a life that glorifies Him! I have simply joined God as a “co-laborer” in His harvest fields over these years to accomplish His mission! Thanks for being a part of this ministry with me through this daily “Pastor's Chat”. Many Bible students believe that Psalm 76 is a continuation of Psalm 75. They go together hand in hand. Most commentators agree that Psalm 76 also belongs to the time when God overthrew Sennacherib's host before the gates of Jerusalem. There are some that think that the Psalm was possibly a Davidic Psalm originally, though it does not bear his name. It found its way into the choir collection, and later King Hezekiah used it to express the sentiments of his own day and age. Hezekiah's use of the Psalm so overshadowed David's that it is associated far more with the Jerusalem of Hezekiah's day than it is with the Jerusalem of David's day. Like the previous Psalm it is a hymn of praise. The Septuagint version of the Psalms contains the additional note: "A song with reference to the Assyrians." We see, then, that from earliest times that was the thought that leaped to devout minds when this psalm was sung. The background of this Psalm is probably God's judgment of the Assyrian army as recorded in Isaiah 37-38 and 2 Kings 18-19. Other "Zion" Psalms include Psalms 46, 48, 87, 126, 132, and 137. In Psalm 75:1, Asaph was thanking God for the miracle that delivered Judah and Israel from the Assyrians and described God's mighty works that revealed the greatness of His character and His power. But the emphasis in Psalm 76 is on the God who accomplished the victory and not on the miracle itself. Sennacherib's officers boasted of their king and his conquests, but their dead idols were no match for the true and living God (Psalm 115:1-18). In Psalm 76, Asaph shares four basic truths about Jehovah God that we will look at over the next several days. First, in verses 1-3, God wants us to know Him. In verse 1, Asaph named both Israel and Judah, for though the kingdoms had been divided politically, there was still only one covenant people in the sight of the Lord. When the northern kingdom of Israel was taken by the Assyrians in 722 B.C. many godly people moved into Judah where a descendant of David was on the throne and true priests ministered in God's appointed temple (2 Chron. 11:13-17; 15:9). God's name was great in Judah and Jerusalem (Psalms 47:1-2; 48:1, 10; 77:13), but it needed to be magnified among the neighboring nations, for that was Israel's calling (v. 11; Gen. 12:1-3). "Salvation is of the Jews" (John 4:22), and if we are to know the true and living God, we must read the Bible, a Jewish book, and trust the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God who came through the Jewish nation and died for the sins of the world. The true and living God is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ (2 Cor. 1:3; Eph. 1:3; 1 Peter 1:3). God's heart desire is that “We might know Him”, not just know about Him! Do you know Him today? God bless!

The best eyewitness imaginable--John, son of Zebeddee---testifies that he experienced the...experienced the power and the personality and the presence of Jesus; he builds the case for Jesus being the One and Only Son of God. The question is: do we agree?
God is love! And He shows that He is love by sending His One and Only Son to die for us. Join Pastor Jeff and Mrs. Melinda as they share more about this. John 3:16 16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
“You've just seen...the heart-stopping, house-rocking, earth-quaking, booty-shaking, testifying, death-defying, legendary E…Street…Band!” If you've ever attended one of their live shows, you would've heard some version of this declaration from Bruce and by the end you'd probably agree whole-heartedly. David Burghardt certainly did after his first concert, and 40 years later he's still going back for more. Like many fans, he cites their music—and one album in particular—as a lifeline in an especially trying time and a reminder to find joy even when life isn't easy. Find out what lyrics he wrote in everyone's high school yearbook, which foundational song Bruce refers to as “an invitation” (and how I happily discovered it about 30 years late), plus his admiration for Bruce's open discussion of his mental health struggles even as he consistently writes music that uplifts others.David's Personal Soundtrack:Thunder Road (from Born to Run album, 1975)Born to Run (from Born to Run album, 1975)Racing in the Street (from Darkness on the Edge of Town album, 1978)Tougher Than the Rest (from Tunnel of Love album, 1987)Jesus Was an Only Son (from Devils & Dust album, 1995)Rockaway the Days (from Tracks box set, 1998)Car Wash (from Tracks box set, 1998)The Rising (from The Rising album, 2002)My City of Ruins (from The Rising album, 2002)Land of Hope and Dreams (from Wrecking Ball album, 2012)References:VH1 Storytellers - Bruce SpringsteenThe Seeger SessionsBruce Springsteen Official WebsiteEpisode Music Credits:Intro: Great Great Lengths from Blue Dot SessionsOutro: Lamplist from Blue Dot Sessions
Happy Epiphany from the Lutheran Ladies! To celebrate the day, Sarah's digging into the backstories of Epiphany hymns in an all-new Hymn Sing episode. Drawing from the results of a Lutheran Ladies' Lounge Facebook poll to narrow and order her selections, Sarah begins her discussion with the so-called “Queen of Chorales,” Philipp Nicolai's “O Morning Star, How Fair and Bright” (LSB 395). She then covers other beloved Epiphany lyrics, including “Brightest and Best of the Stars of the Morning” (LSB 400), “As With Gladness Men of Old” (LSB 397), and “Arise and Shine in Splendor” (LSB 396). Click to listen to an entire podcast episode on Elisabeth Cruciger, the author of Sarah's favorite Epiphany hymn, "The Only Son from Heaven" (LSB 402). At the end of this podcast, hear "Arise and Shine in Splendor" (LSB 396), recorded at the LCMS International Center during the Epiphany of Our Lord Divine Service on January 6, 2023. Out of the billions who have ever lived, only a handful of people have made a lasting imprint upon society. There is one who stands head and shoulders above all others: Jesus, the One and Only Son of God. In this message, Adrian Rogers reveals three things we can learn about Jesus Christ from Colossians 1.
Life isn't easy. We all know that. And to be honest with you, praise doesn't always come out naturally when it feels like everything in your life is working against you and the wheels are coming off your bus. However, I've heard it said that the greatest gift you can give the Lord, others, and yourself is that of thanksgiving. Why? Because when we focus on gratitude, the tide of disappointment washes away and the tide of love rushes in. Joining us on the podcast today to share a little about his testimony and how the act of gratitude has transformed his life is Coach Adam Donyes. Adam is a man who has impacted countless lives as he serves in many different roles including: the K-Equip Director at K-2 (Kanakuk Kamps) and also directing Kanakuk's Worldview Kamp; serving on the teaching team at Woodland Hills Family Church; Founder and President of Link Academy in Branson, MO which exists to provide students with a year of purpose for a lifetime of pursuit as their goal is to empower future leaders to impact the world for Christ; and so much more! What I love about Adam is his humility and the grateful heart that he possesses. He truly has a hunger and desire to know God and to make God's name known! Our prayer is that after listening to today's episode you would leave feeling more equipped and encouraged to live a life of gratitude and develop a grateful heart no matter your circumstance. Remember, even if God doesn't do anything else, because of what He did by sending His One and Only Son to die, be buried, and rise again 3 days later for you and me, He has already done enough!
First Prayer Our Father - Hail Mary O Jesus Christ! Eternal Sweetness to those who love Thee, joy surpassing all joy and all desire, Salvation and Hope of all sinners, Who hast proved that Thou hast no greater desire than to be among men, even assuming human nature at the fullness of time for the love of men, recall all the sufferings Thou hast endured from the instant of Thy conception, and especially during Thy Passion, as it was decreed and ordained from all eternity in the Divine plan. Remember, O Lord, that during the Last Supper with Thy disciples, having washed their feet, Thou gavest them Thy Most Precious Body and Blood, and while at the same time Thou didst sweetly console them, Thou didst foretell them Thy coming Passion. Remember the sadness and bitterness which Thou didst experience in Thy Soul as Thou Thyself bore witness saying: "My Soul is sorrowful even unto death." Remember all the fear, anguish and pain that Thou didst suffer in Thy delicate Body before the torment of the crucifixion, when, after having prayed three times, bathed in a sweat of blood, Thou wast betrayed by Judas, Thy disciple, arrested by the people of a nation Thou hadst chosen and elevated, accused by false witnesses, unjustly judged by three judges during the flower of Thy youth and during the solemn Paschal season. Remember that Thou wast despoiled of Thy garments and clothed in those of derision; that Thy Face and Eyes were veiled, that Thou wast buffeted, crowned with thorns, a reed placed in Thy Hands, that Thou was crushed with blows and overwhelmed with affronts and outrages. In memory of all these pains and sufferings which Thou didst endure before Thy Passion on the Cross, grant me before my death true contrition, a sincere and entire confession, worthy satisfaction and the remission of all my sins. Amen. Second Prayer Our Father - Hail Mary O Jesus! True liberty of angels, Paradise of delights, remember the horror and sadness which Thou didst endure when Thy enemies, like furious lions, surrounded Thee, and by thousands of insults, spits, blows, lacerations and other unheard-of-cruelties, tormented Thee at will. In consideration of these torments and insulting words, I beseech Thee, O my Savior, to deliver me from all my enemies, visible and invisible, and to bring me, under Thy protection, to the perfection of eternal salvation. Amen. Third Prayer Our Father - Hail Mary O Jesus! Creator of Heaven and earth whom nothing can encompass or limit, Thou Who dost enfold and hold all under Thy Loving power, remember the very bitter pain Thou didst suffer when the Jews nailed Thy Sacred Hands and Feet to the Cross by blow after blow with big blunt nails, and not finding Thee in a pitiable enough state to satisfy their rage, they enlarged Thy Wounds, and added pain to pain, and with indescribable cruelty stretched Thy Body on the Cross, pulled Thee from all sides, thus dislocating Thy Limbs. I beg of Thee, O Jesus, by the memory of this most Loving suffering of the Cross, to grant me the grace to fear Thee and to Love Thee. Amen. Fourth Prayer Our Father - Hail Mary O Jesus! Heavenly Physician, raised aloft on the Cross to heal our wounds with Thine, remember the bruises which Thou didst suffer and the weakness of all Thy Members which were distended to such a degree that never was there pain like unto Thine. From the crown of Thy Head to the Soles of Thy Feet there was not one spot on Thy Body that was not in torment, and yet, forgetting all Thy sufferings, Thou didst not cease to pray to Thy Heavenly Father for Thy enemies, saying: "Father forgive them for they know not what they do." Through this great Mercy, and in memory of this suffering, grant that the remembrance of Thy Most Bitter Passion may effect in us a perfect contrition and the remission of all our sins. Amen. Fifth Prayer Our Father - Hail Mary O Jesus! Mirror of eternal splendor, remember the sadness which Thou experienced, when contemplating in the light of Thy Divinity the predestination of those who would be saved by the merits of Thy Sacred Passion, Thou didst see at the same time, the great multitude of reprobates who would be damned for their sins, and Thou didst complain bitterly of those hopeless lost and unfortunate sinners. Through the abyss of compassion and pity, and especially through the goodness which Thou displayed to the good thief when Thou saidst to him: "This day, thou shalt be with Me in Paradise." I beg of Thee, O Sweet Jesus, that at the hour of my death, Thou wilt show me mercy. Amen. Sixth Prayer Our Father - Hail Mary O Jesus! Beloved and most desirable King, remember the grief Thou didst suffer, when naked and like a common criminal, Thou was fastened and raised on the Cross, when all Thy relatives and friends abandoned Thee, except Thy Beloved Mother, who remained close to Thee during Thy agony and whom Thou didst entrust to Thy faithful disciple when Thou saidst to Mary: "Woman, behold thy son!" and to Saint John: "Son, behold thy Mother!" I beg of Thee O my Savior, by the sword of sorrow which pierced the soul of Thy holy Mother, to have compassion on me in all my affliction and tribulations, both corporal and spiritual, and to assist me in all my trials, and especially at the hour of my death. Amen. Seventh Prayer Our Father - Hail Mary O Jesus! Inexhaustible Fountain of compassion, Who by a profound gesture of Love, said from the Cross: "I thirst!" suffered from the thirst for the salvation of the human race. I beg of Thee O my Savior, to inflame in our hearts the desire to tend toward perfection in all our acts; and to extinguish in us the concupiscence of the flesh and the ardor of worldly desires. Amen. Eighth Prayer Our Father - Hail Mary O Jesus! Sweetness of hearts, delight of the spirit, by the bitterness of the vinegar and gall which Thou didst taste on the Cross for Love of us, grant us the grace to receive worthily Thy Precious Body and Blood during our life and at the hour of our death, that they may serve as a remedy and consolation for our souls. Amen. Ninth Prayer Our Father - Hail Mary O Jesus! Royal virtue, joy of the mind, recall the pain Thou didst endure when plunged in an ocean of bitterness at the approach of death, insulted, outraged by the Jews, Thou didst cry out in a loud voice that Thou was abandoned by Thy Father, saying: "My God, My God, why hast Thou forsaken me?" Through this anguish, I beg of Thee, O my Savior, not to abandon me in the terrors and pains of my death. Amen. Tenth Prayer Our Father - Hail Mary O Jesus! Who art the beginning and end of all things, life and virtue, remember that for our sakes Thou was plunged in an abyss of suffering from the soles of Thy Feet to the crown of Thy Head. In consideration of the enormity of Thy Wounds, teach me to keep, through pure love, Thy Commandments, whose way is wide and easy for those who love Thee. Amen. Eleventh Prayer Our Father - Hail Mary O Jesus! Deep abyss of mercy, I beg of Thee, in memory of Thy Wounds which penetrated to the very marrow of Thy Bones and to the depth of Thy Being, to draw me, a miserable sinner, overwhelmed by my offenses, away from sin and to hide me from Thy Face justly irritated against me, hide me in Thy Wounds, until Thy anger and just indignation shall have passed away. Amen. Twelfth Prayer Our Father - Hail Mary O Jesus! Mirror of Truth, symbol of unity, link of Charity, remember the multitude of wounds with which Thou was covered from head to foot, torn and reddened by the spilling of Thy adorable Blood. O Great and Universal Pain which Thou didst suffer in Thy virginal Flesh for Love of us! Sweetest Jesus! What is there that Thou couldst have done for us which Thou hast not done! May the fruit of Thy sufferings be renewed in my soul by the faithful remembrance of Thy Passion, and may Thy Love increase in my heart each day, until I see Thee in eternity, Thou Who art the treasury of every real good and every joy, which I beg Thee to grant me, O Sweetest Jesus, in Heaven. Amen. Thirteenth Prayer Our Father - Hail Mary O Jesus! Strong Lion, Immortal and Invincible King, remember the pain which Thou didst endure when all Thy strength, both moral and physical, was entirely exhausted, Thou didst bow Thy Head, saying: "It is consummated!" Through this anguish and grief, I beg of Thee Lord Jesus, to have mercy on me at the hour of my death when my mind will be greatly troubled and my soul will be in anguish. Amen. Fourteenth Prayer Our Father - Hail Mary O Jesus! Only Son of the Father, Splendor and figure of His Substance, remember the simple and humble recommendation Thou didst make of Thy Soul to Thy Eternal Father, saying: "Father, into Thy Hands I commend My Spirit!" And with Thy Body all torn, and Thy Heart Broken, and the bowels of Thy Mercy open to redeem us, Thou didst Expire. By this Precious Death, I beg of Thee O King of Saints, comfort me and help me to resist the devil, the flesh and the world, so that being dead to the world I may live for Thee alone. I beg of Thee at the hour of my death to receive me, a pilgrim and an exile returning to Thee. Amen. Fifteenth Prayer Our Father - Hail Mary O Jesus! True and fruitful Vine! Remember the abundant outpouring of Blood which Thou didst so generously shed from Thy Sacred Body as juice from grapes in a wine press. From Thy Side, pierced with a lance by a soldier, blood and water issued forth until there was not left in Thy Body a single drop, and finally, like a bundle of myrrh lifted to the top of the Cross Thy delicate Flesh was destroyed, the very Substance of Thy Body withered, and the Marrow of Thy Bones dried up. Through this bitter Passion and through the outpouring of Thy Precious Blood, I beg of Thee, O Sweet Jesus, to receive my soul when I am in my death agony. Amen. Conclusion O Sweet Jesus! Pierce my heart so that my tears of penitence and love will be my bread day and night; may I be converted entirely to Thee, may my heart be Thy perpetual habitation, may my conversation be pleasing to Thee, and may the end of my life be so praiseworthy that I may merit Heaven and there with Thy saints, praise Thee forever.
