While faces might change and representatives will come and go, the line of the Labour Party is the line of the finance capitalists in the City of London. It is no surprise then that the warmongering line of Starmer has continued with Burnham, a man whose rise to power seems manufactured. Burnham was not even an MP a month before his role of prime minister, but the doors were opened to allow him to quickly become an MP, become a candidate for the leadership of the Labour Party and eventually prime minister of the United Kingdom. The meeting was held to mark the 79th anniversary of the founding of the Syrian Arab Republic in April 1946. Proletarian TV | 10 August 2026 Napoli health workers standing against genocide Roberto De Gregorio, an Italian nurse in southern Italy's largest hospital, talks to the international workers' event hosted by the World Anti-imperialist Platform in July 2026. In his speech he outlines the work he and his fellow workers at Cardarelli hospital (in Napoli/Naples) have done to show solidarity with the healthworkers under attack in Gaza. And he talks about how this work has helped to form a permanent collective within the hospital whose aims have become broader. On the one hand, they focus on the problems faced by their hospital and those who work and are treated there. But they also try to look further and to place those problems in the broaded social and political context. As Roberto puts it: "Our hospitals' problems are the consequence of political problems, so we're also discussing this and starting to try to find political solutions. “We mustn't leave every hospital to try to save itself, every department to save itself, and every worker to think about working only for himself. In his eloquent and insightful message, he touches upon the true history of the great historical events of 26th and 27th July 1953: the Attack on Moncada and Victory in the Korean Fatherland War. He recounts their true history and how that is distorted today. And he draws out the relevance to the global situation, of capitalist crisis, escalating war, resurgent Fascism, genocidal Zionism and the wars of the Anglo American imperialists to further conquer and suppress the world by force. As well as the heroic resistance of the Socialist nations of the DPR Korea, and tiny but defiant Socialist Cuba, Ranjeet pays tribute to the Palestinian people, the Axis of Resistance in the middle East, and in particular the Iranian and Russian people, who are engaged in an existential fight for survival against the aggressive wars launched by our Labour government on behalf of the British capitalist ruling class and their US imperialist partners in crime. The British workers must stand in with all peoples in struggle. As our capitalist ruling class is driven toward global war to keep its moribund and crisis ridden system alive, the only answer to the troubles of the working people is to break all ties with the imperialist Labour Party and finish it entirely. Only then will a really mass party of the working class, taking an independent political line in the interests of the working masses in Britain and of the wider world be possible. We must learn to turn - as Fidel so ably did, in his trial after Moncada - the repressive apparatus of the state into a trial of the repressive, unjust and monstrously inhuman capitalist system itself. We must strip our ruling class of all legitimacy in the eyes of the British workers and demonstrate to them that their true interests do not lie among the path of continuing colonial war, genocide, ultra-nationalism, racism, deepening poverty and destruction. But that another future: a bright, cooperative, equal, hopeful and just socialist future, is possible and within our grasp. Our Chair Joti Brar gives an introduction to comrade Her Ismara, and makes some piercing observations in response. Ismara celebrates the 100th anniveraary of the birth of Fidel Castro, leader and inspirer of the Cuban Revolution, as well as the storming of the Moncada Barracks on 26th July 1953, that triggered the Revolution. Although that heroic assault on the fortress of US comprador Batista failed, it led to the trial of Fidel and his comrades, which Fidel turned into a tribunal of the reactionary and dictatorial regime. “History will absolve me!” Declared Fidel, at the conclusion of his epic speech of defence! And on January 1st 1959, the revolutionary forces led by Fidel, Raul and Che Guevara victoriously entered Havana, ushering in the rule of the Working People and the dawn ofa socialist era in Latin America. The US IMPERIALISTS HAVE NEVER FORGIVEN the people of Cuba for breaking free of their grip, and today desire to have their brothels, casinos, landed estates and latifundia, wage slaves, peasants, vassels, monopolies and sweat-shops restored to their corrupt and mafiosi-led grip. Despite the vindictive sanctions - intensified to fever pitch by this vindictive and unstable Trump regime - and the special economic measures that the Cubans have had to take to withstand those sanctions, Cuba stands firm, on the front line of the anti Imperialist struggle. As unprecedented numbers of workers in the west become increasingly cynical towards the system, its politicians and its media mouthpieces, the ruling class is working overtime to misdirect our distrust and to encourage us to extend our cynicism towards ourselves. If we don't believe in them, we should also not believe in ourselves as a force capable of achieving anything. Garland and Joti discuss various strategies in use by the ruling financial oligarchy to keep our attention diverted and our energies midirected, including: 1. Presenting us with a 'new' / 'nicer' leader for the system every few years (when anger at the status quo is reaching boiling point, blame somebody in 'high office' and replace them, have him/her make a bunch of promises, rinse and repeat. 2. Making sure the leaders not only of mainstream parties but also of working-class organisations of resistance (trade unions, antiwar organisations etc) are always working to maintain the status quo. 3. Creating fake 'protest' organisations through which to channel activity and make sure it remains harmless to their rule (a plethora of astroturfed opposition movements makes clear the ruling class's desire to channel and manage our dissent). 4. Redoubling their efforts to pipe anticommunist prejudice into the minds of the workers – through mainstream politicians, through our own movement's tame leadership, through history books and through conspiracy/alternative media, both 'right' and 'left'. Essentially, we are being cajoled and pressured into remaining inactive, cynical and disunited. The one thing the ruling class fears is an active and organised working class. That is why it works so hard to ensure that we don't come together to create an effective and meaningful movement for revolutionary change. This week I spoke with Garland Nixon about the growing militarisation of western economies and societies: what is driving it and how is it impacting our lives? We talked about the huge propaganda drive against Russia, the constant talk about war spending and conscription and the multitude of ways in which the talk of existential threats and increased war spending are being normalised. We also talked about the threat that is posed to British imperialism by the anti-genocide movement, which, at its core, is an anti-imperialist movement. The need to suppress such activities explains the efforts the state put into to rig the trial of the Filton Six (who took direct action against the Zionist/Imperialist war machine in Britain) as well as the draconian targeting of health workers who oppose genocide in Britain. It is in this context that Dr Ranjeet Brar and the Right to Protest organisation have launched a judicial review to try to overturn NHS England's decision to adopt the IHRA 'definition of antisemitism' – a device which allows managers to discipline and even fire health workers who express support for Palestine and opposition to Israeli genocide. The states perpetrating the genocide then criminalise workers for speaking out against Israeli, British and US wars and genocide. THAT is its REAL role: WE MUST CHALLENGE IT! In Britain and across the “western” NATO countries, thousands of doctors, lawyers, teachers, workers and citizens are under legal attack for defending Palestine. I was suspended after criticising Israel's actions in Gaza, and the US-Israeli and British war on Iran. Police arrested me at my home, leaving my children to look after each other. This is the third time I've been targeted by the police and I have faced multiple vexatious complaints and attacks at work - all coming from the state and the zionist lobby working hand in glove with our government. The management are complicit and collaborate in creating this politically repressive environment. In every case of police and workplace harassment, it is the “IHRA definition of antisemitism” that is being used as a benchmark to adjudicate what is “legitimate speech”. The definition was designed as a data gathering tool, and was never intended to become a law, or to be used in this way. Theresa May adopted it for the UK together with Nicola Sturgeon in 2016 without any consultation. The major political parties followed suit (including Plaid Cymru, SNP, Liberal, Labour and the Greens). It was pushed on police forces, schools and colleges, and Wes Streeting has been pushing it actively into the heart of the NHS. So now we have a situation in which existing laws (Public order act, professional regulatory frameworks, university regulations and constitutions) are being interpreted in its light, and the IHRA definition is therefore being “applied” as “law” - to silence legitimate speech on Palestine, and criticism of Israeli, US and British genocide.
