Gloucester win away AGAIN! This time at Newcastle, despite a re-arranged later kick-off and very strong winds. The lads chat through another great win and performance and try to keep our feet on the ground. Elsewhere results conspired for the Cherry and Whites to leave them 1 point off second. We also discuss which team we should follow in the latest season of the MLR (Major League Rugby), Mark Atkinson's increasingly good chances of starting against Scotland and the perils of Social Media. Welcome to episode 16 of Future Driven! This week, Adam talked to Dallen Stanford, former USA Eagle and current commentator for both MLR (Major League Rugby) and World Rugby. With experience playing, teaching, marketing, and commentating, Dallen is a jack of all trades within the world of rugby. After moving to the United States from South Africa and playing for a Division 2 club team, Dallen became an Eagle and appeared at his first tournament in 2007. After retiring from the field, he became a media manager for several years and got his first shot in the commentator's booth at Infinity Park at Glendale in Colorado, eventually becoming a commentator for World Rugby in 2015.
Wow, great news for Rugby League here in Canada as we have the CCCRL Canadian Co-operative Championship launching in 2023 in six Canadian Cities and we have the announcement from yester of the NARL North American Rugby League with two Canadian Teams, the Toronto Wolfpack and Ottawa Aces. Let us not forget about the Toronto Arrows of the MLR Major League Rugby.
Campbell Johnstone is a twenty-two-year-old center and fullback from Woodbine, Maryland. Campbell has been playing since he was seven years old, unlike most Rugby players in the United States. He has played in New Zealand, represented his country as part of the 2018 U-20 All American team, as well as played the MLR (Major League Rugby) with the Glendale Raptors, and will continue to play in the MLR in the coming season. Please excuse my microphone echos, I am still working out some of the technical aspects.
A Legion consists of 6000 warriors. The leader of such a cohort is referred to as Legatus legionis. One who hold this responsibility, must be courageous, insightful, a person who inspires others to perform miraculous feats of determination and commitment, while being able to keep a clear vision of the task "at hand", all while not losing a sense of honor, grace and commitment to representing those he defends. This person must be a leader with vision. A leader who can take their vision and not only share it but make those around him believe in it - so much so, that they'd be willing to give their life to attain it and then defend it! This type of leader is Robert Hoadley. Robert Hoadley is the 2019 MLR (Major League Rugby) Coach of the Year. It was Rob's vision of what a Legion is, and what it represents that provided the San Diego Legion with two winning seasons and a chance to become Season Champions. It is the same leadership and vision that brought World Class talent to San Diego, California to play for the Legion. Some of Rob's greatest talents rest in not only developing a "Vision" that inspires others to strive for and up-hold ... but to do such, in manner that makes others "want" to do this. Rob has a very unique way of inspiring and coaching his athletes. His intensity to compete, is matched only by the level of compassion and care he has for each and every one of his athletes. This incredible balance of fierce competitiveness and care for those who fall under his leadership help create a "Family-like" environment that has helped athletes from all over the world - come together and care for each other. Robert Hoadley is a fantastic interview for HeadSet followers in that he is able to embody the perfect blend of sports psychology and athletic pralis. Rob provides insight to Pillar Process ... which oddly enough falls right into line with that of the HeadSet Sports process. https://www.instagram.com/rjhoadley/ --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/headset-sports/support

He's the first recipient of the Rudy Scholz Award. This is equivalent to the Heisman Trophy, Hobey Baker Award, and Golden Spikes Award. This award is given to the "Best" Rugby Player in College. From winning this award, he goes on to represent the United States in numerous International competitions. One of which was versus England (his home country). Added to this, he was selected to play for the most elite team in the country - the US Eagles. Unfortunately, due to an ankle injury he was unable to participate in this year's World Cup. To talk with Dylan Audsley 100 times, one would never know half of the athletic accolades he has accumulated. This is just part of what makes him such an incredible person. This season marked his 2nd season as a Professional Rugby Player. This season would mark his second season with the San Diego Legion of the MLR (Major League Rugby). During this interview, Dylan shares with us insights that are utterly incredible. Our conversation covers such topics as Buddhism, The Hudson School of Art, the literature of "The Boys in the Boat", art, meditation, mindest, COVID, the History of Rugby, Asian contemporary art, and the effects of Buddhism on art. Needless to say ... these are topics that will never be discussed with one person alone ever again! Dylan is an athlete who's athleticism is only matched by his incredible personality and depth of intelligence. He is a person who can make you feel intellectually engaged during every topic he shares with you. Having the opportunity to connect with such an eclectic individual as Dylan Audsley, is what makes our PodCast so entertaining. This interview, encapsulates the essence of HeadSet Podcast with how we are able to discuss both the mindset of athletes as well as the "Behind the Scenes" lives and depths of elite professional in sports today!
