This was an unreal chat. From Jack having me in stitches laughing, to chatting about mental health challenges, and just being intrigued throughout. Have a listen, you'll enjoy it.Jack played for Irish 20s, Ulster, Highlanders, Ospreys and Toyota Shuttles. His mental health took a huge toll on him recently and he decided to walk away and retire from rugby. We chat about his journey in the game that took him across the world to playing with All Blacks Aaron Smith and Shannon Frizzell. He shares some mad stories like the time he was detained by boarder security guards, essentially becoming an invalid for a period of time, and having to pull off the motorway to rush himself to A&E.Cheers to Jack for a great chat, was a pleasure! Today's conversation is with Adam Ashe. Adam is a former pro rugby player for Glasgow Warriors and a Scotland International, the Co founder of Puresport, Investor and Consultant. Expect to learn Adam's path to playing at the top level in Pro Rugby, the role models along the way and key experiences which shaped him, the true highs and lows of pro sport and the injuries which Adam handled along the way. Adam's rugby journey along would have made a great episode, but the reason this conversation was such a good fit for this podcast is his insights and advice on finding how to transfer his passion and skillset outside of sport to the world of business, family, coaching and more. I interviewed Adam's cofounder at Pure Sport, Grayson Hart back in August 2021 on episode 83 so it was great to hear the role Adam played in the foundations of what is now a globally recognised brand. This conversation is a unique insight into how Adam has continually reinvented himself and applied himself wholeheartedly across multiple areas. I loved recording this episode and I know you will love listening, so please make sure you've hit the subscribe or follow button and if there's a friend or colleague or family member who would also enjoy this episode then please do copy and paste the link to them to join the CamBro listenership. He also spoke about his family's experience with Down's syndrome which has been entirely positive apart from the way it was dealt with in the hospital. What Age Do Professional Rugby Players Retire? Rugbydome.com reports: The average retirement age for professional rugby players in England is 34 years of age. The retirement age in Ireland is slightly younger at 32 years. Scrumhalves retire later than any other position at about thirty-six. Thomas Armstrong is an “Ex pro rugby player told to never do sport again after injury and illness. He Ignored traditional medicine and now teach others how I did it!” ”I had to retire due to a hip operation that failed. Little did I know that the root of my issues was down to my gut! I had a successful rugby career that ended abruptly, due to my early habits of diet. I had many specialists telling me to have a hip replacement which I ignored. And many doctors telling me I needed my gall to be removed due to chronic symptoms and family connections. I ignored advice and had multiple blood tests and gut test to realise I was living in a mouldy environment which led to chronic inflammation. I felt like I was having early onset dementia at 29! I found a way to recover myself and started my business True Athletic fitness Ada as a result! I felt alone! I felt isolated and not even my family believed me. But now I help others understand their body through testing and curated coaching and holistic practices to regain their health. No matter what age we all need to understand the gut and the power of the gut brain connection. I was suffering mental illness and told to take my gall out replace my hip and I said no! I have now completed ultra marathons 72 miles hadirians wall run and promote methods of recovery outside of modern medicine! I know this might seem out of left field, but I understand my body more than ever and hope I can spread these methods with as many people as possible of all ages to regain their health and live pain-free.” He joined me this week to tell me more For more information: https://tafit.co/ LinkedIn: @ThomasArmstrong Instagram: @tarmstrong89

Today we spoke with Ben Darwin - Director Gain Line Analytics, Former Australia Pro Rugby Player and Coac. Ben had to retire from professional rugby prematurely due to a severe neck injury. Here's the story about what he's done since, and why he went this way...examining team cohesion and teamwork indices that contribute to consistent winning and on-field success. Ben propped for the Brumbies and the Wallabies, before embarking on analytics and forward coach positions with teams such as Western Force, Melbourne Rebels and Suntory in Japan. His company, Gain Line, founded in 2013, is changing the game around data analytics revealing that great teams are the product of the connections and linkages within. There is a wonderful dialogue around the structural layers that drive cohesion in teams, namely shared experiences, combinations and the overarching system - one for pro sport and business. As distinct from other operations and management consultancies in the industry, Gain Line places a strong focus on data analysis and quantitative research. We really appreciate this as the solutions are backed by evidence and real-world experience, like our worlds in physio and sports medicine. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Highlights

On Saturday, 4/23/22, the Denver Barbarians will play against the American Raptors. The teams have played on and off since 2007, and each time they square up against each other, the rugby fans of Denver Colorado benefit. Since 2007, the competitions have morphed and shaped year to year (see below). The product always seemed to be elite level clubs on the cusp of professionalism. With the PRO Rugby formation (and quick disintegration) in 2016, everything changed. The two teams have not played consistently since 2016 and Saturday's game looks to change that. What hasn't this guy seen or done? Played with and against the best players the world had to offer. Won it all as a team and individually. One of the best Rugby League players England have produced, who did it his way. I loved this one, and could still see a little spark in the belly when he was talking about facing those old teams. Would have loved to have played with him, and hated playing against him. Thank you Dragon Signs. Tiny Rebel and Healthy Hangout UK.

Lucas Caneda is global team leader at Uniqorn Incubator and a professional rugby player in Sarlat Rugby. Lucas grew up as a die-hard rugby player starting at the age of 5. Even though he suffered what many thought would be a career-ending knee injury, he moved to France and became a professional rugby player. After a few years in France, he joined the Sarlat Rugby Team, where Lucas met Dom Einhorn, the Founder and CEO of the UNIQORN incubator-accelerator. Lucas immediately integrated Rugby into the incubator's program where he now works as a team leader for both the incubator as well as for one of its startups, FORMATION.GG, an up-and-coming platform dedicated to eSports. A student of engineering, management and economics, self-taught in nutrition and fitness, Lucas has always had a very keen interest in business and entrepreneurship. Lucas and I discussed his influences growing up in Argentina and how rugby helped him develop his leadership philosophy. He tells me about how adversity has helped him grow and become a better rugby player, entrepreneur, team leader, and man. Learn more about Lucas and Uniqorn here: https://uniqornincubator.com/

Harvey Brownstone conducts an in-depth interview with Devin Ibañez, the first openly Gay Pro Rugby Player about his experiences coming out in what is considered an extremely macho sport, his life and his advocacy for LGBTQ+ people and rights. Devin played for the New England Free Jacks, and in the UK for the Scarborough Rugby Union Football Club, and he won a gold medal while representing team USA at the 2017 World Maccabiah Games. He also won the 2018 National Championship with the Mystic River Rugby Club. In December 2020, he shocked the world when he revealed on Instagram that he is gay. Since then, he's been dedicated to LGBTQ+ advocacy in sport, to inspire inclusivity and acceptance in the world of athletics. When not playing, Devin has coached rugby at Westlake Boys High School in New Zealand, his alma mater Brookline High School and most recently with the Northeast Academy. He holds a degree in sport management and education from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. Devin was announced Global Ambassador for International Gay Rugby (IGR) in May 2021.For more interviews and podcasts go to: https://www.harveybrownstoneinterviews.com
