Pasaulē iecienītajam britu detektīvseriālam „Midsomeras slepkavības” ir savs, ne ar ko nesajaucams rokraksts – ekscentriski ļaudis un daudzskaitlīgas un brīžam neticami ērmīgas slepkavības uz skaistas Anglijas lauku ainavas fona. Ja esat seriāla fanu vidū, droši vien pamanījāt, ka šonedēļ Rīgā viesojās „Midsomeras slepkavību” galvenais varonis – detektīvs Džons Bārnabijs, pareizāk sakot, viņa lomas atveidotājs Nīls Dadžens (Neil Dudgeon). Kā norāda Latvijas Televīzijā, šī vizīte notika par godu seriāla gaidāmajai divdesmit piektajai sezonai un tā lielajai popularitātei Latvijā, kur „Midsomeras slepkavības” ar stabili augstiem reitingiem LTV rāda kopš 2011. gada. Savā spraigajā Rīgas vizītē detektīva Bārnabija lomas atveidotājs Nīls Dadžens atrada laiku iegriezties arī Latvijas. Saruna ar Nīlu Dadženu angļu valodā "Man šķiet, ka tas ir populārs tieši tāpēc, ka tas ir tik britisks! Lietas, kas cenšas patikt visiem, kļūst bezformīgas un banālas. Bet, ja stāsts ir par ļoti konkrētu vietu un konkrētiem cilvēkiem un tu tam pieej godprātīgi, tad šo cilvēcisko patiesību viegli varēs iztulkot jebkurā valodā un kultūrā," seriāla „Midsomeras slepkavības” popularitāti vērtē Nīls Dadžens. "Cilvēciskas lietas mums visiem ir saprotamas. Jā, varbūt cilvēki to uzskata par britisku, bet šis seriāls turpinās jau tik ilgi, ka varbūt tas pats sāk definēt, ko cilvēki uzskata par britisku… Viena no „Midsomeras slepkavību” lielākajām zvaigznēm, protams, ir Lielbritānijas lauku ainava, kurā tas tiek filmēts – visi tie lielie nami un baznīcas, tajā visā patiešām ir kaut kas ļoti anglisks. Un tad, protams, visi ekscentriskie varoņi. Arī pati detektīvstāstu jeb „kurš vainīgs” tēma aizved pie tādiem ļoti britiskiem autoriem kā Agatas Kristi un Dorotejas Seijersas. Lai gan daudzām kultūrām, protams, ir pašām savi slavenie detektīvi. Man jaunībā ārkārtīgi patika lasīt Agatas Kristi, Reimonda Čandlera un līdzīgu autoru darbus, jo tajos ir iebūvēta spriedze un noslēpumi. Vienmēr viss sākas ar slepkavību un beidzas ar atrisinājumu. Un pa vidu tu iepazīsti varoņus, kuri ir katrs savā veidā interesanti. Gan „Midsomerā”, gan citos detektīvstāstos cilvēki mūždien melo policijai – vai nu viņi kaut ko slēpj, izliekas par kādu citu, zog naudu vai kādu krāpj… Un man liekas, ka cilvēkiem patīk skatīties, kā cilvēki melo, mēģināt uzminēt, kāpēc viņi melo un kurš no visiem meļiem ir slepkava. Un tas ir arī par noslēpumiem, kādus glabā šīs noslēgtās kopienas. Tā ir universāla recepte: divi policisti dodas uz kādu nomaļu ciematu un atklāj tur apslēpto spriedzi…" (..) Pārsteigumu „Midsomeras slepkavībās” patiesi netrūkst: šis seriāls ir slavens ar ļoti ekscentriskām un ērmīgām slepkavībām – cilvēkus nogalina siera ruļļi, vīna pudeles, veļas žāvētāji un kas tik vēl ne. Šķiet atsvaidzinoši, ka šis seriāls sevi neuztver pārāk nopietni. Cik liela nozīme „Midsomeras slepkavībās” ir humoram? Nīls Dadžens: Jā, protams! Kad man piedāvāja pārņemt lomu no iepriekšējā detektīva Bārnabija lomas atveidotāja Džona Netlsa (John Nettles),  es ļoti nopriecājos, jo jau pirms tam biju liels „Midsomeras slepkavību” fans. Zināju, kas man šajā seriālā patīk un kāpēc, tāpēc viegli varēju ielekt šajā noskaņā. „Midsomeras slepkavībās” man ļoti patīk šis sajaukums starp detektīvstāstu un ērmīgajiem, humorīgajiem brīžiem. Daudzas no slepkavībām, kā jau teicāt, notiek savādos un pārspīlētos apstākļos. Un tas viss šim seriālam piešķir savu īpašu rokrakstu arī britu televīzijas kontekstā. Citos kriminālstāstos un detektīvos neviens nepiesien upuri pie koka, neieziež ar trifeļu eļļu un neatstāj mežacūkām par barību. Jebkurā citā seriālā tas liktos pārāk traki un absurdi. Bet tas, cik radoši mūsu scenāristi pieiet slepkavību mākslai… Cerams, ka tur saglabājas zināma ticamība, lai jūs spētu šo stāstu izbaudīt, bet tās nav situācijas,  kur cilvēki varētu sākt uztraukties – ak dieniņ, arī man no pils fasādes varētu uzkrist uz galvas akmens briesmonis un nogalināt mani! Tas ir pārāk ērmoti, lai cilvēki to uztvertu personiski.   Šī bija pirmā „Midsomeras slepkavību” titulvaroņa vizīte Baltijas reģionā, reklamējot seriāla gaidāmo 25-to sezonu. Jau vakar Nīls Dadžens devās līdzīgā vizītē uz Prāgu, bet seriāla jaunāko sēriju uzņemšana sāksies marta beigās.

As well as growing the business, I have also been part of the training of our trainers. Julia created a unique ‘You brand' coaching methodology which was ground breaking at the time.
