In this episode of The Valley Today, host Janet Michael dives into the engaging and enriching world of 4-H in Warren County. Joining Janet is Emily Schultz, the Associate Extension Agent for Warren County, who's been a pivotal figure in the 4-H community for the past year. Reflecting on her first year, Emily shared the whirlwind of activities and opportunities that have kept her busy. The last year saw the addition of five new 4-H clubs and the initiation of novel in-school programs, all aimed at offering more avenues for youth engagement. The ongoing renovation of their office hasn't slowed them down, as Emily continues her work from home. For those unfamiliar with 4-H, it's a community for young people to explore diverse interests. Warren County's 4-H boasts seven community clubs and one in-school club covering a range of activities from livestock to photography and crafts, breaking the stereotype that 4-H is solely about farming. Emily emphasizes the program's versatility - there's something for everyone, from public speaking to talent shows. Children can join 4-H as Cloverbuds at the age of five, participating in age-specific activities that are fun and educational. Older members, ages nine and up, can engage in more specialized clubs, including shooting sports and horse clubs. A big draw for many parents is the cost – membership in 4-H is free, making it accessible to everyone. The program thrives on the dedication of its volunteers. With a robust team of 60-70 volunteers in Warren County, many bringing unique skills, the support is invaluable. There's always room for more willing hands – anyone interested in volunteering can reach out to Emily to find out how to get involved. 4-H clubs meet regularly for various activities, including community service, guest speakers, and hands-on learning experiences. The program's flexibility allows it to cater to a wide range of interests, ensuring that all kids find their “spark.” Emily reassures that even those without livestock can participate fully through educational projects and competitions. One of the highlights of 4-H is the range of camps available, from day camps to overnight stays at the Northern Virginia 4-H Center in Warren County. These camps offer incredible opportunities for kids to gain independence, learn new skills, and enjoy the outdoors. Kids can select from a variety of classes, ranging from archery and canoeing to arts and crafts and outdoor living skills. Parents interested in signing up their kids for the overnight camp can do so easily via the county's website or by contacting the local 4-H office. Camp fees are $400, which covers all activities, meals, and a camp t-shirt. Scholarships are also available to ensure that all children have the chance to participate. The upcoming camp, taking place from June 8th to 12th, promises an enriching and exciting experience for all attendees. Warren County shares it's overnight camp with neighboring localities: Culpeper, Clarke, Shenandoah, and Rappahannock Counties. As the conversation wraps up, it's clear that Warren County's 4-H program offers invaluable experiences for children. From fostering independence and leadership skills at camps to providing a wide range of clubs for diverse interests, 4-H is a cornerstone of the community. Emily Schultz's passion and dedication shine through as she encourages parents to explore the opportunities available and get their children involved. For more information, reach out to the local 4-H office or visit their official website listed below. Let your child's 4-H adventure begin! Tune in as this show kicks off a new theme month for all of May: the Rebecca Hall of Fame! For this first podcast of the month to honor one of Arthur's all-time favorite actors, Joe Lipsett (Horror Queers, Hazel & Katniss & Harry & Starr) is returning to the guest chair for a breakdown of Red Riding: The Year of Our Lord 1974, the 2009 period crime drama-thriller that stands as the first film entry in a limited series made for British television called the Red Riding Trilogy. The bleak and nihilistic territory that this series boldly treads into, the surprising amount of homoerotic undertones in 1974, and some gripes with a divisive little filmmaker known as Zack Snyder comprise just a few of the talking points for this episode. Directed by Julian Jarrold, Red Riding: The Year of Our Lord 1974 stars Andrew Garfield, Rebecca Hall, Sean Bean, Warren Clarke, John Henshaw, Anthony Flanagan, Robert Sheehan, Eddie Marsan, Sean Harris, Tony Mooney, Steven Robertson, Cathryn Bradshaw, David Morrissey, Michelle Dockery, Daniel Mays, Peter Mullan, and Mary Jo Randle. After the huge response and love for Part 1 I received from my YT video. This is my subseqent follow up. This mix and video is for the love of the label, artists, producers, distributers and..... the Community!!! Enjoy! MP3 links and timestamps below! Pioneering UK Garage imprint Nice ‘n Ripe finally makes its catalogue digitally available Launched in 1993 by George Power and Grant Nelson, Nice ‘n Ripe and it's vast array of sub-imprints helped solidify the nascent UK Garage scene and nuture its countless offshoots that much modern garage/bassline/dubstep/funky owes a debt to. Producers like Warren Clarke, Jeremy Sylvester, Fionn Lucas and Nelson himself perverted the label's original inspirations (and supporters), Masters at Work, Moraels, Humphries and Knuckles, and made Nice ‘n Ripe a must check imprint for as new generation. ♡♡♡ Thanks For Watching ♡♡♡ Thanks for popping over - if you like what you heard, consider subbing to the channel and dropping a like... In this episode Prince George is skint and so Blackadder tries his hand at being a dandy highwayman. Plus we have guest stars Warren Clarke and the great Miranda Richardson!
In honor of the film's forthcoming golden anniversary, this week's subject has us grappling with the celebrated auteurism of Stanley Kubrick and his iconoclastic vision of a dystopian future, 1971's A Clockwork Orange. But first...the Blue Plate Special forces us to confront an even more alarming cultural product: the forthcoming presence of a Buzz Lightyear origin story. Seriously, why??? Thankfully, a new segment-within-a-segment allows the two of us to fan the flames of some recent cinematic line-reading obsessions we have indeed deemed worthy of your undivided attention: i.e. things we've been burning on (shout out to friend of the pod Jim Rome), Upon finally journeying through the sickening path of destruction wrought by today's subject film, we situate A Clockwork Orange within the wider spectrum of all things Kubrick, attempt to engage with the deceptively facile binary of anarchism or fascism such a satire attempts to suggest, and compare the film to the many other cinematic acts of nihilism shockingly routine and welcome in the larger cultural moment of 1971. This is a recording from Pressure Radio on 16th September. As I mentioned during the show with the radio show being fortnightly one week will be new tracks and the other a crate digging session.Completely unplanned (as always) I found myself in the Nice 'N' Ripe folder containing all things UKG from back in the day.Yes I know I've done a couple of NNR mixes before, but that was years ago now.The mix still flows from the more chilled stuff through to HUGE bangers with a gentle come down at the end.I will be releasing the recording of last weekends Global Lounge Room Music session which I do every fortnight on a Saturday. It started out as a live Zoom party to bring some fun to everyone stuck in lockdown. It also streams live on Mixcloud which is better for sound quality.www.mixcloud.com/live/c2eMusic8pm-12am Sydney time.Tracklisting:1: Hi Times - Journey Into Jazz2: RIP Productions - The Horns3: 24Hr Experience - Into The Night (Scat Dub)4: Richard Pursar - Wurly Bird5: Dangerous Liaison - Hold It High6: Big J - Don't Run Away7: Rhode & Brown - Tell Me Baby8: Poolio & Jack D - Tell Me Baby (Shoulder Mix)9: Richard Pursar, Warren Clarke - The Grace Groove10: The Essence - Large11: Pearl Necklace - On A Mission12: 24Hr Experience - Not Gonna Let Ya13: Grant Nelson - Move This Rhythm (Dirty Club Mix)14: The One Armed Bandit - 3:00am in January15: Behind The Mask - Freedom Is Sweeter16: Deep Cover - Got 2 Let Me In17: Champagne Bubble - Got 2 Work18: Dub Syndicate Productions - No Longer19: Sly - Flexin20: Vinyl Movers - Keep The Love21: Deep Cover - Kick 'Em (Extra Large Mix)22: Livin' Large ft Colonel Abrahams - Feel Free (Love Is What We Need) '97 Mixes23: 24Hr Experience - Realm Of The B-Line24: 24Hr Experience - Together25: Grant Nelson - In My Soul (Dubbed Out Mix)Enjoy!

Rob's not the first guy who started recording a podcast with a Welshman he met in a Hawke's Bay works tea-room who turned out to be a bit of a film nerd, only to then have to move to Wellington for work purposes, and then three years later reunite in a dark dank garage that smells of cat-piss to record their latest episode ... I know, it all sounds like some bad podcast.

Based on a novel by Anthony Burgess. Directed by Stanley Kubrick and starring Malcolm McDowell, Patrick Magee, Michael Bates and Warren Clarke.
Episode 250: The Crew's drinking milk plus while watching Stanley Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange. This X-rated film caused a huge controversy in 1971 with its depictions of rape and ultra-violence. Some critics accused Kubrick of glorifying violence and thought the film was dangerous. Kubrick asked Warner Brothers to pulled the film from theaters in England, and the studio did until his death. Despite all the drama, the film earned 4 Oscar nominations and is now considered a masterpiece. And Malcolm McDowell gives one of the screen's best performances ever! The Crew discusses. In today’s episode we explore Nice Work, David Lodge’s award-winning 1989 drama serial for BBC2 with Warren Clarke and Haydn Gwynne. It’s the tale of two people who are suddenly exposed to new and previously alien worlds, an English Literature lecturer, Dr Robyn Penrose and factory manager, Vic Wilcox. It also speaks to the broader canvas of the late Eighties commercialisation of Universities and the collapse of old-fashioned industrial firms. Nice Work also deliberately parodies the very Victorian novels that Penrose herself teaches her largely middle-class students about. But will our romantic leads have a happy ending? Will there be any proposals, sudden bequests, or deaths? All this and a Jennifer Rush soundtrack, a trip to Dusseldorf, and a pleasing equality of bare bottoms. Next Time: Our Friends in the North
