In this powerful conversation, Steph is joined by Elliott Rae, speaker, podcaster, writer and social changemaker, to explore how masculinity is being renegotiated in today's world. They dig into how traditional gender roles are evolving, why relationships shift after having children, and the ways societal expectations impact men's mental health and fatherhood. They also discuss the influence of online culture on teenage boys, the lessons from the BBC drama Adolescence, and why open conversations (especially the messy, imperfect ones) are critical for change. This episode is an honest, moving and often funny look at how we can create more equal partnerships, raise emotionally healthy boys, and support men to step outside the outdated "provider and protector" model. Steph and Elliott reflect on friendship, community, parenting through adolescence, and how small changes in how we live, talk, and connect can make a huge difference - for men, for families, and for society as a whole.Elliott Rae is one of the UK's most prominent writers and speakers on fatherhood, men's mental health and masculinity. Elliott created the Parenting Out Loud campaign and culture change programme which has revolutionised the national conversation about working fathers. Through Parenting Out Loud, Elliott supports employers to build workplace cultures where dads can be loud and proud about their caring responsibilities at work.As an author, Elliott curated the bestselling book, DAD, and as a presenter, he fronted the seminal BBC One documentary ‘Becoming Dad' which was one of the 20 most watched documentaries across the whole BBC network in 2022.Elliott co-hosts the popular podcast, To Be A Boy, which is one of the top parenting podcasts in the UK and he has written for publications such as The Independent, The Telegraph and Grazia and frequently appears across the media, including a feature on Loose Women and regular contributions to Radio 5 Live and BBC Radio London.Steph's InstagramThoughtful gifts at Don't Buy Her FlowersThis episode we are proud to have an excellent sponsor:Sweet Freedom - award winning syrups and spreads, always sweet, always natural. Come and join the conversation with the amazingly talented and gorgeously hilarious Siobhan Phillips!Gracing our screens on the final of Britain's Got Talent, Siobhan captivated the nation with her witty ditties and sailed through the live shows. Currently on her 10 week tour with Rita Sue & Bob Too, Siobhan Sat down with me to chat all things career so far! We delve into her journey into performing, starting at the tender age of 16, fond memories of her Dad driving her to gigs and supporting her in her dream of becoming a singer. We chat about the importance of experience, the ability to choose the work that fits around your family, citing age as a source of her wisdom and ability to take things in her stride. The biggest love of Siobhan's life is her daughter, and she tells me of the gratitude of her career longevity, allowing her to spend precious moments with the people she loves the most, whilst doing a job she adores.Siobhan tells me about meeting her comedy hero Bob Mortimer after they were appearing on Loose Women on the same day, after a fan girl moment and quick selfie they had a normal chat like old pals! Olivia Attwood first appeared on our TV screens in 2017 as a contestant in the third series of Love Island, and instantly became a star due to her dry humour and gobby relatability. You might also know her as a regular panellist on Loose Women or from her hit documentaries for ITV. Last year, she launched her podcast, Olivia Attwood's So Wrong It's Right, which promptly went to Number 1 in the UK charts. On today's episode, we talk about everything from reality tv to her diagnosis with ADHD; from her love of gay clubs and medi-spas to failed relationships, the lessons friendship has taught her, the fact she hasn't always loved being the centre of attention (no, honestly) and why she's never watched herself back on Love Island. An absolute gem of an episode with a true woman's woman. Have something to share of your own? I'd love to hear from you! To celebrate International women's day we are so excited to be joined by Jayne Lasley founder of clothing brand Fairlie Curved. Fairlie Curved is a brand that is dedicated to helping curvy women, particularly those with fuller busts, feel and look fabulous in stylish garments that fit and flatter their unique shapes. Jayne is an ex New Look and Internacionale Buyer with a very commercial eye. It was vey clear from day 1 that she was going to excel in a fashion retail career - who wants to make a tea towel in home economics? Not Jayne, hot pants are much more fabulous! She joins to tell us her story about how she started this incredible brand using all her skills and knowledge from her fashion buying days. Jayne originally created the idea for Fairlie Curved at university however it wasn't until later during her retail buying career that she made the idea a reality. Jayne found she was often complimented on the way that she dressed, and she set up an account to help other women with small band, big cup figures to dress well for their shapes. She shared tips and advice, such as wearing a chunky necklace to take the focus off the larger bust and balance the shape. It was so well received, and as Jaynes following grew, she knew she wanted to do more for the community she had built. After pulling out her university designs from the loft during the pandemic Jayne decided now was the time to launch her brand. It so clearly filled a gap in the market. A brand for curvy women looking for help to dress for their shape and most importantly, feel good in what they are wearing. Collaboration and feedback is integral to Fairlie Curved, and it is part of the brand ethos to always interact with the community to ensure that the brand remains focused on designing and stocking products that answer to the customers needs. We talk all about Jaynes buying career from the experience she gained at some of the UK's top high street brands to the contacts she made by supporting suppliers with constructive feedback. Jayne lets us into a few funny stories on her travels around the world and how her buying career has given her the skills and confidence to launch this inspiring brand.Fairlie Curved is a brand that that is already on its way to achieving great recognition. Tops featured on Lorraine and Loose Women, pop ups in Bravissimo the brand has also won awards in particular the business growth award at the Icon business awards. Our take aways:Brands that start with a community have a clear target audience and a clear customer base. Building a community, finding like minded individuals and creating a space where people feel seen, will make it much easier to see the opportunity to create products that solve a problem for people. Communicating with your community, sharing ideas and welcoming feedback will enable you to create products that your customers actually want. It will help your brand to stay relevant and to survive in the retail landscape. Set clear boundaries for you and your business in order to allow you to have quality time for work and your personal life, as these are equally important. Work/life balance can be achieved even in successful business that can still maintain growth. Being efficient by making quick decisions and not over analysing will free up time. I am joined by Kate Allatt to discuss her experience of, and advocacy for, locked-in state as she narrated in her book Running Free: Breaking out of Locked in Syndrome.Kate has an extraordinary journey of resilience after being ‘buried alive', the result of a brainstem stroke when she was just 39. She described this as a condition where you can feel, think, hear and see completely normally but are unable to move a single muscle. She explored the transformation from being an active and passionate runner to being helpless and requiring help for every need.Kate chronicled the onset of her symptoms with a headache and slurred speech, and the subsequent progression of her symptoms with loss of consciousness that culminated in being completely locked-in. She also recalled the thoughts and emotions that dominated her mind in the subsequent stages of her illness. Our conversation also covered such concepts as the pessimism that permeates the attitude to the care of people in locked-in, the potential for completely recovery even the most extreme cases, the role of intense rehabilitation and determination in recovering from locked-in state, and the concept of neuroplasticity. She particularly highlighted how she brought her passionate attitude to running to her rehabilitation.Kate is an inspirational speaker and will also discuss the impact her advocacy and peer mentoring has made to thousands of families around the world. Running Free has been showcased on BBC Jeremy Vine, ITV This Morning, BBC Breakfast, The One Show, Women's Hour, Newsnight, Loose Women, BBC Worldwide, India, South Africa, USA, South America etc. In addition, she founded a charity just three months from leaving hospital in 2011.

I would say that Grace Keeling, (or GK Barry) is the first person in the UK to successfully navigate herself from TikTok to mainstream television. Fresh from her time in the I'm A Celeb jungle, Grace came in to the studio to chat everything from bush-tucker trials to her love life.GK Barry gained her huge following on TikTok for her unadulterated and hilarious videos, leading to hosting her own podcast, Saving Grace and now Loose Women's youngest presenter. British broadcaster and journalist, Loose Women star Janet Street Porter recently said she couldn’t hire a car at Cork Airport because she’s 77-years-old. She said she only found out at the airport, that she needed a letter from her doctor that stated that she was ‘fit to drive’. She says she’s never had to submit such a document when hiring a car in France, Italy or Spain. Treasa spoke to Fianna Fáil councillor Niall Kelleher for the Killarney Municipal District.

We love it when politics goes mainstream... And it did this week when Sunak and Starmer decided to appear on Loose Women and Sunday Brunch, respectively. Jemma and Marina discuss how they both fared, and why one of them went viral - probably because he tried to suggest he was fixing child poverty with an Online Safety Bill.Next up are more culture wars as a result of the 72-gender myth which is resulting in new legislation, despite the only evidence of this being a thing coming from someone's next door neighbour's friend's sister's cat. And you'll be glad to know that it's not just poverty that is spiraling in this country, but Sunak's and his wife's wealth too. Jemma and Marina discuss the growing inequality in the UK and elsewhere, and why soulless Sunak is the last person we need at the helm. Finally, get your patio tables and parasols ready, because Al Fresco dining is about to hit the UK by storm thanks to a new Brexit benefit - apparently. Someone might need to tell Trade Secretary, Kemi Badenoch where the term Al Fresco originates from...Thank you for sharing and do tweet us @MarinaPurkiss @jemmaforte @TheTrawlPodcastPatreonhttps://patreon.com/TheTrawlPodcastYoutubehttps://www.youtube.com/@TheTrawlTwitterhttps://twitter.com/TheTrawlPodcast

Today, we look at Keir Starmer revealing the “first steps” Labour would take if they won the general election. Speaking at an event in Essex, the Labour leader unveiled a pledge card with six key policies, including delivering "economic stability" and providing 40,000 more hospital appointments each week. Starmer rejected claims the party had scaled back its ambitions, and that it was a “copycat” of Tony Blair who launched his pledge card and went on to win the general election for Labour in 1997.Adam, Chris and Alex are joined by Steve Reed, the Shadow Environment Secretary. And find out how Rishi Sunak got on when he braved the panel on ITV's Loose Women. This week sees political giveaways, promises, pledges, and appearances on Loose Women. If we're not in an election campaign, why does it feel like we are, and why are the parties acting like they are too? The team discusses the Scottish Parliament declaring a housing emergency, a fund to erase school dinner debt, and the summit with Ferguson shipyards. In Westminster, Labour lays out its five pledges, the Westminster lobby awaits further potential defections from the Tories to Labour, and the Prime Minister appears on Loose Women.

Andrea McLean is one of those people you already feel as though you know. Not least because she's been a familiar face on British television for two decades but because she has such an easy, warm, open and welcoming way with everyone she meets. And let me tell you, in the flesh, this magnetism is even more charming than you could imagine. She is also blessed with a dry wit and an excellent side-eye!After years anchoring the liveliest panel on TV, the prime-time show Loose Women, she is now focused on her website and app This Girl is On Fire, which focuses on supporting women (and soon men) through midlife. It's not just her day job, it's a calling. Having navigated her own mental health struggles, crises of confidence and a constant drive to want to do better and be better, Andrea is committed to passing on and sharing everything that has worked for her with those who feel the same.I open each podcast by asking my guest 'what's your relationship like with risk?' and, as you can imagine, Andrea's answer, as someone who walked away from one of the most coveted jobs for women in broadcasting, is an incredible one... We discuss being in bad relationships, trying to make a bad thing work, knowing when to listen to advice - and when to ignore it - and why admitting you're wrong can sometimes be the greatest gift.Andrea was so open and honest and I'm thrilled to share this conversation with you...To join the Facebook group for the podcast click here >> The Emma Guns Show Forum. To follow me on social media >> Twitter | Instagram.Watch clips from the podcast >> Youtube | The Emma Guns ShowSign up for my newsletter here >> Newsletter.Subscribe now. Rising Star is a new Chatabix segment, a monthly spin off that follows a contestant after they've been on a reality show like Traitors, The Apprentice or Love Island. David & Joe want to find the next Mark Wright or Alison Hammond and document their journey to (hopefully) fame and fortune, discussing what happens next and how they'll approach stardom. From getting their first TV agent, to deciding if they should they go on I'm A Celebrity, the rising stars will hopefully spill the beans on how it felt going on Loose Women for the first time ! Joe & David will follow someone they think have a great chance of having a TV career beyond the show that they have just been on. In this first pilot episode they chat to Paul Gorton, that tall traitorish guy from Series 2 of The Traitors UK. Tracking Paul's progress as he tries to make it in the industry they chat about all the offers he has had, what TV & radio shows he's done, how many insta followers he now has and what's next. Paul then displays his acting skills hoping this may land him a job in Hollywood.
