This week we preview Non League Finals Day with super stat-man Phil Annets the man chosen to supply insight for the matchday programme and the man for whom the FA Vase and the FA Trophy have always had a bit of extra magic. Next up, a Chairman who saw his side to play-off glory at the weekend with unexpected promotion to Step 3 but is spending his Thursday evening a few days later operating the scoreboard as the club are hosting a Youth Cup Final. Mark Bantock is Chairman by name and multiple roles by nature at Uxbridge FC, an unincorporated members club he is proud to be custodian of into it's next chapter. There's more play-offs and managerial moves from Matt Badcock rounding up the week's new for The Non League Paper and a round-up of the winners and losers in the season's now complete.
This weekend the FA Vase semi-finals play their second legs to a finish and the FA Trophy have their one-off semis. The teams beginning with W take leads into the weekend and Phil Annets, our man with the stats, reveals the chances of a comeback and why Wembley way is never a straight road. One of those dreaming of Wembley is Aldershot Town gaffer Tommy WIddrington. His club has never been there, but he's experienced the magic and he wants his players, off the field team and fans to enjoy the same. Matt Badcock is on hand with the Non League Paper Round Up we have the big cup games and chairmen stepping down adding to the management merrygoround madness.
This weekend the FA Vase semi finals get underway. They are two-legged affairs starting this weekend and we speak to Phil Annets with his @FAVaseFactfile hat on about who is in it and why magically, somebody new will win it. One of those hoping to do so is AFC Whyteleafe, and their story for sure will be magical even if they weren't to progress into the final. It's less than four years since they were even formed - effectively as a phoenix club - but initially, they were a club with no players, no sponsor, no league,e and effectively just an agreement to play at a ground. Now, under founder, chair, owner, and joint manager Kelly Waters they are just 180 minutes from Wembley. Jon Couch returns to the show to help round up the news and give an insight into the big stories in this weekend's Non League Paper, a tome that itself is celebrating 25 years in publication.

It's the quarter-final stage of both the FA Trophy and the FA Vase. We turn to the ever faithful, the never inexact, master of the stats Mr Phil Annets. He wears three hats this week @FATrophyFacts @FAVaseFactffile and @FACupFactfile inspiring us all with records, patterns, and with connections that would leave Victoria Coren Mitchell swooning if Non League was ever a category on Only Connect. Our managerial insight this week comes from the manager of Midland Premier side Whitchurch Alport. Not only does he know the quirky history of his wonderful club, but Adam Shillcock is also at the heart of the revolution that will see a second FA Vase quarter-final within a handful of years and is bringing the town and the community together across the ages. Matt Badcock is our man from the Non League Paper this week. He has his own Trophy and Vase insights, ground grading foresight and managerial movement background knowledge that he brings to the table along with another packed Non League Paper this weekend.
A bumper show this week as the FA Trophy and FA Vase reach the last 16. Phil Annets is on hand to give us the lowdown on the stats and facts for both competitions with his @fatrophyfacts and his @favasefactfile hats on. Then we focus on one of those FA Vase ties but not just on the game itself. Caroline Bone lives and breathes Fleet Town. A family connection was the original pull but from a club that could very easily have been just a dusty history book memory, it's now a thriving community hub across the sexes and with a men's team into the last 16 of the Vase and eyes on promotion. Fleet's recording-breaking trip this weekend is to another club who have never reached this stage of the competition before. Their manager acknowledges that but it's not something to de-rail Jamie Coyle, who as a player, manager and still player manager has seen pretty much all there is to see in non league. Matt Badcock is back with the non league round up. The ever-changing National League, managerial moves and non league finals are all in the mix. Plus what is to come in this weekend's Non League Paper.
A few techie issues this week but a bumper show no less. We start off with Phil Annets. Two hats as we look at the double representatives in the FA Cup Third Round and the last 32 clubs in the FA Vase as that hits round 4. Then a lovely tale of one of those making history in the FA Vase and hopefully likely to beat the weather this weekend with a 3G pitch. Roger Hudd wasn't around when the club in its oldest form was born but he was one of a handful of lads who started the club it later merged with and bears its name now. He's been a player, manager and now a proud Chairman of a club with some great history and he is hoping to make even more at Roman Glass St George this weekend Jon Couch is literally our roving reporter this week on his way back from Tamworth's pre-FA Cup Press Conference and helps round up the rest of the non league news of the week and what we can read in this weekend's Non League Paper.
Russ further mused on the draw with Arsenal before welcoming back FA Cup facts and stats guru Phil Annets to talk us through the eye-catchers of this 3rd Round weekend, to pop in some interesting facts and to proffer both the head-to-head stats for The Canaries vs Albion AND some quirky trivia on the same subject. There's also Russ's thoughts on the possible team for the weekend…shame he couldn't remember Ruairi McConville's name at the time!!! Stand or fall! UTA! A new year and new stats and facts for an FA competition. Phil Annets starts us up as we embrace Round 4 of the FA Trophy. The last 32 with plenty of shocks and curveballs sure to come. Next a first for me on the show. He's a manager with a 100% record in his managerial career and he's not a newbie. Quorn, top of the Northern Premier League Midlands division and under new management since the summer, Ryan Beswick is a name many in non league might know from his playing days. Now featuring as a Player Manager and, I have to say, I'm not even in the dressing room and I'm inspired. Hopefully as good a listen as it was to chat with him Matt Badcock helps round up the news of the week, a few different angles this week providing insight into the changing game of the non league world.
Rob Worrall is joined by Christian James and Phil Annets, who has his FA Trophy hat on. Storm Darragh didn't deter a lot of the teams and the third round is looked at with stats, upsets and more besides. Slough Town manager Scott Davies joins Rob to chat about his side's derby win over Maidenhead United and Aldershot skipper Aaron Jones after his goal helped the Shots through. The FA Vase and the FA Trophy reach the third round this weekend. That's 64 clubs in 32 ties in each competition. Phil Annets is on hand thankfully with both hats on @fatrophyfacts and @favasefactfile to give us the runners the riders and the history makers taking part. One chairman who has already seen this club make history in the competition this year is Edwin Slinn. Northampton ON Chenecks is effectively his schoolboy club, and as he explains, there is a fantastic tale behind their name. A home tie awaits, and there is lots to play for, but Wembley is just a few short hops away. Jon Couch rounds up the week's news. There's plenty of FA Cup reaction coming in this weekend's Non-League paper, but as we discuss, there will be plenty from the Vase, the Trophy, the league, and more managerial movements if we can beat Storm Darragh.
Rob and Joe look back at a packed week of football. In the National League York hit Maidenhead for Six, Woking woes continue at home to Yeovil. Phil Annets on the remaining National League sides in the FA Cup with two National League sides making it through and we hear from Dagenham hero Josh Rees. Plus a round up of the South and North Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
The FA Cup Second Round is here. A round of magic for all involved. A chance to shine, create memories and history but also in much part because of the carrot of the big boys if the Third Round can be reached. 9 non league sides in action this weekend and all miss each other so 9 chances for Cupsets, or maybe 9 chances for non league heartbreak. We talk with Phil Annets in @facupfactfile mode to tap into his knowledge and insight into the greatest cup competition in the world. With a bucket full of FA cup memories already, Wealdstone assistant boss Paul Hughes is hoping his sides Saturday morning kick off will be another one to add. A local derby for the National Leaguers against Top of Division One Wycombe Wanderers. He admits it wont be easy but having trained with and under some of the best, made his own magical memories and seen his side hit form inspired by the community around it, maybe this is another one for the pot. Matt Badcock returns to head up out Non League paper round-up. Of course there is FA Cup focus but there's weather talk, teams on the up and of course that managerial merry-go-round.
Rob and Dickie are joined by former Yeovil, Torquay and now DAZN pundit Chris Hargreaves and Phil Annets who puts his FA Trophy hat on this week. Their is Christian James's thoughts on another defeat for Boston and we hear from Slough player manager Scotty Davies after a midweek win Learn more about your ad choices. The Step 2 sides enter the FA Trophy as it hits Round 2. Wearing his @FATrophyFacts hat Phil Annets gives us the insight, the knowledge, and all the things we need to know about the 40 ties taking place this weekend. One of those in the Trophy with an away tie at a club a level higher, are Macclesfield. The in-form team in the non league pyramid with a current 16-game unbeaten run in the league and the now Gaffer Robbie Savage explains he doesn't see his side going into the game as underdogs. Promotion is the main priority but a club formed from the ashes of a former two-time winner of the competition, and who made last term's semi-finals, he knows how important an FA Trophy run could be and what it means for those so fundamental to the club. Matt Badcock helps round up the week's news at the end of the show, including more bizarre results, a Goal-Scoring legend, and the ever-spinning managerial merry-go-round.
We're back on the FA Vase trail this week and what a bumper show we have. The Vase hits Round 2 and there are no more exemptions - the winner of this year's competition will be competing this weekend Phil Annets is back with his @FaVaseFactfile and helps guide us through the stats, facts, records and the downright bizarre. Then I get to speak to one of those managers looking to make history with his side in the Vase this weekend. Myles Hook is a bit different from most managers in national cup competitions and plying his trade at Step 5 however. Hands on doesn't give justice to the work he and the small team at Spelthorne Sports put in week in and week out. A club born from the community still with that community at its very heart. His tale is heartwarming and a contrast from some of those from the top level of over-inflated budgets and egos. A win against fellow step 5 club Holmesdale at the weekend would not only see the club's best FA Vase run but also put the club on the map and bring in some essential funds. Rounding up the news of the week, Jon Couch of the Non League Paper. He's back with news from around the beautiful game ahead of another bumper weekend of non league football.
Russ welcomed back @FACupFactfile's Phil Annets to take us through the story so far of this year's epic competition, which has already been rattling along for three months since early August, with particular focus on the recently contested and highly eventful First Round Proper. FA Trophy Round 1 this weekend and we speak with Phil Annets wearing his @fatrophyfacts hat, to find out the interesting, the unusual and the downright bizarre facts about the 32 ties and the clubs involved. One of those clubs hoping to make history and match their best-ever Trophy run is Brentwood Town. It's 6 months since we last spoke to Chairman Jez Dickinson and lots has gone on since then as he reveals, ahead of their Trophy tie. Jon Couch is back with us offering insight in The Non League Paper round-up this week. Trophy, Vase, FA Cup managerial moves, and plenty of reasons why we love non league.

It is FA Cup front and centre this week. The Fourth and final qualifying round. The last full-on celebration of Non League before that other lot gets involved. Of course, we look forward to that First Round draw and all the drama that will create plus Phil Annets is here with his @FACupFactFile hat on to guide us through the stats, facts and records ready to be set and broken this weekend Old fans of the show will know Rich Luffman is a manager who still under 40, has learnt his trade in the lower levels of non league with much success. With over 500 games as a manager under his belt, he admits having never been with a club that doesn't win most weeks. In his opening months at Step 3 with Taunton Town he has helped turn the Somerset club around, progressing in both the FA cup and FA Trophy and currently on a 10 game unbeaten run. As ever he's great value as a guest. With the weekly news round-up and flagging some of the features of this weekend's Non League Paper, Matt Badcock is another welcome returnee.
We are in the Third Qualifying of the FA Trophy this weekend. The Step 3 clubs are the big boys and big scalps to be taken; 88 of those clubs and the 40 clubs from Step 4 have progressed from the last round. Phil Annets is on hand with some thoughts and insight wearing his @FATrophyFacts hat. Our manager this week, is another at a club built on camaraderie and a place people want to be. Ian Rowe has been the gaffer of Sporting Khalsa for 10 years now but the club is more than just the men's first team, it's very much about the people, as Ian explains. Helping with the weekly news round-up Jon Couch is back. Another packed issue of The Non League Paper ahead but first we discuss the FA Cup draw, clubs in trouble and of course, more managerial moves.
Rob and Joe are joined by Mr FA Cup Factfile, Phil Annets as he runs the rule over the shocks and performances of FA Cup Qualifying round three. Plus another packed National League programme to run the rule over including Kairo Mitchell scoring for a 7th game in a row, more woe for Southend and Barnet carry on winning and more comment on the National League Cup Learn more about your ad choices. It is FA Vase and FA Trophy Second Qualifying round time. Nearly 400 non league clubs from Steps 2 down to 6 take part this weekend in their respective competitions this weekend and Phil Annets is on hand to help us understand the most interesting stories behind the ties. One manager leading his side into the FA Trophy for the first time in a number of years is Chris Ayres. His Flackwell Heath side took the Combined Counties Premier North by storm last term and they have started off well at Step 4 too in the Southern League Central Division One. He thinks he may have the best dressing room around, and we are not talking decor, but the camaraderie of a group of players, many of whom he has known for over a decade. With The Non League Paper round up this week is Jon Couch. Some big managerial moves, some big cup games and the National league beginning to take shape.
The FA trophy takes the limelight this weekend, 160 sides from Step 4 as the FA Trophy reaches the First Qualifying Round. Phil Annets is with us wearing his new @fatrophyfacts hat, giving us the lowdown and the knowledge you need to understand the weekend's action and of course to impress your friends. My next guest is a new Chairman, just over a month in the role, it's one he's coveted for years but he's been sprung into it quickly and in stressful times, but it's clear Spencer Gore is enjoying his new role, and looking forward to building his childhood club Chelmsford City again to challenge and even aim for the Football League. Matt Badcock is our man from The Non League Paper this week with thoughts on the week's news, managerial moves and what's ahead in this weekend's issue of the Non League Paper.
The FA Trophy and FA Vase begin this weekend. The Trophy has a rare Preliminary Round and the FA Vase the First Round Qualifying Round. Phil Annets is on hand to offer some stats and insight into the ties coming up this weekend, which is a busy weekend for him and Non League football. Not as busy for my next guest as while his team is back in the FA Vase after a 10-year hiatus they've been drawn away. No less exciting and still likely to be very well supported for a Step 6 side. Oliver Ellary explains more about his love for Non League and Staines & Lammas (Middlesex) FC Jon OCuch is the man with the Non League Paper round-up. Not the busiest week in Non League but still managerial changes and plenty to discuss.
It is the FA Cup Preliminary Round. 134 Clubs from Step 4 and 138 Clubs from Step 5 in action across the weekend, hoping to secure the £1444 winning prize-money but also a place in the First Qualifying Round when the 88 Step 3 clubs join the competition. Phil Annets returns to the fold to offer a review of the Extra Preliminary Round and a preview of this weekend's games too. One club through to this round is Boro Rangers. A club younger than any of the players that will even feature in the completion this season but one on the up and in the right way too as founder and chairman Mark Curtis explains. Matt Badcock helps round up the week's non-league news and previews this weekend's Non League Paper.
Another hectic week in non league football as play-offs are played, dreams are realised or crushed and the home of English football gets ready for the double cup final that crowns the non league season. Yes it's Non League Finals day on Saturday and we talk to some of those getting ready for the big day and take a look at the four clubs who will be enjoying their day in the sun. First up is the man with more knowledge than the taxi rank by Wembley Way. The statto for every great cup competition. Mr Phil Annets joins me to chat facts behind the FA Vase, FA Trophy and the FA Cup as we also pick up on the winners of this season's ninth FA Cup Team Awards, the FACTAs. My next guest has been on my radar for a while and I hope you will agree it's been worth the wait. He's possibly the non league legend you weren't yet aware of but for sure you will want to know more about him, and his little village club whether they win in the FA Vase Final on Saturday or not. Dave Patient has been involved in Non League for over 4 decades before getting his chance at Wembley, and with a serious health scare forcing him to miss their first semi final, he's more than lived up to that Patient name. Now, the Chair and Director of Football at Great Wakering Rovers is just aiming for Saturday to be a great day for all involved. Giving as a trip on a busy week of non league news Matt Badcock of The Non League Paper. We've had Play-offs, Crowd issues, an England C win, administrative confusion and plenty of manager movements all to be reported on
It is FA Vase semi final time. We open the show with Phil Annets with his @FAVaseFactfile hat on, giving us insight into this season's competition and the four sides remaining. Then we head north to one of the clubs involved. This week also has a creative arts feel, so we speak to the media guy putting in the hours to ensure Lincoln United is a club people are talking about up and down the land and across the world. Charlie Fytche is still in his early 20s but already doing great stuff for the world of non league. Talking about the world of non league, my next guest is a filmmaker but at heart a non league fan too. Jack Spring has made a documentary series about his beloved Grimsby Town's last magical season back in non league out now on Amazon Prime. It's driven by the kind of human interest people-led stories that make us love non league and well worth a watch. Rounding up the week's news is Jon Couch of The Non League Paper in another bumper show, ahead of an Easter weekend hopefully just as packed with non league action.
A bumper full length programme this week as we hit the Quarter finals of the FA Trophy and FA Vase, four ties, eight clubs in each compettion. First up an old friend of the show in a new job. His record speaks for itself but it's not often a manager moves into a new dugout in the back end of the season, at a club bigger than he's ever taken on before, in sight of a play-off place and in the quarter-finals of a national cup competition. Michael Clegg has achieved just that at Macclesfield although in an open and honest interview, he admits he's only played one won one in the role so far. Phil Annets is on hand with his @favasefactfile hat on to introduce us to the 8 clubs in the VAse quarter-finals, and to remind us of THAT fact about FA Vase finals. Then we speak to a man who is CHairman and joint manager at North Greenford United as they are two rounds from Wembley. Paul Mills admits it's a real family affair just a stone's throw from the national stadium but wouldn't change a thing about his club's big day on Saturday. Rounding it all off, Jon Couch returns from The Non League Paper to help us cover weather and postponements, club finances, moving managers, and fanatical fans.
Andy Bass joins Pete and Russ to talk Everton (groan!), Roma, the Great Maidstone Cupset, Blunderland ‘Til I Die, the worst goal celebration ever and it's pathetic imitators, Barnet coming home and in the middle section we were also delighted to welcome back our regular FA Cup expert Phil Annets to preview the 5th round including Albion's tie at Wolves. Stand or fall! UTA! It is the FA Cup Fourth Round weekend and just the one non-league representative. Phil Annets @facupfactfile is on hand to give some insight into this round and the competition so far. Many will have written off National South's Maidstone but having already dumped Barrow and Stevenage out for the competition to go further than the club ever has in this competition, or the former club before it in fact… there's some magic in the air that might make, even high flying hosts Ipswich Town quiver a little. So why not send another shiver down their spine…? Remember Roy Essandoh? He of the FA Cup and Wycombe Wanderers fairytale? You soon will, as I speak to Maidstone's new striker Manny Duku, who aims to repeat the highs of his fellow striker. Rounding us up, Editor at Large at The Non League Paper Matt Badcock is here to help with the week's news and previews the weekend's edition
The FA Trophy and the FA Vase reach the Fourth Round this weekend. The last 32 and the clubs still involved have every right to be distant dreaming about that Wembley final. We speak to an experienced non league manager who has enough behind him to know few will give his side a chance against visitors Chesterfield on Saturday. Welling United boss Danny Bloor is wiley enough to have a few tricks up his sleeve to make it a big day out for all involved at the club, with an outside chance of that upset. Phil Annets is on hand with his @FAVaseFactfile hat on ,with some insight into the 16 ties featuring the Step 5 and Step 6 sides. We also speak to a lady Chair of one of those Step 6 sides. In the historic hotbed of North East non league football Blyth Town haven't got the glorious or lengthy history of their neighbours but they are a side on the up and with former winners the visitors looking to add another chapter to their own story. Sandra Orr is one of those folk to whom non league owes so much, perhaps this is one of those magical weekends football returns the favour? Matt Badcock returns for his first update of 2024. It's the FA Vase First round this weekend and Phil Annets is here with his @FAVASEfactfile hat on with more impressive stats and facts. Our main guest is a former player with over 500 Southern League appearances, now operating as player-manager in Step 6 Divison One of the Western League leading a group of young local lads to one of the best starts of any club across the pyramid so far this season. Their trip to higher-ranked opposition this weekend in the FA Vase is a shot to nothing in his eyes with a chance for glory and certainly another great day in the story of Portishead Town as a thriving club at the very heart of the local community Rounding off the show and helping round up the week's news is the Executive Editor of The Non League Paper, Jon Couch. There's FA Cup, FA Vase and plenty of managerial moves as well as insight into the stories featuring in this weekend's Non League Paper.

We then speak to the secretary at Horsham FC who have a local derby at home to Dorking Wanderers in the FA Cup this weekend and looking to cause an upset in front of a sell-out crowd. Jeff Barrett has been involved with the club for nearly 50 years through highs and lows but the club is now on a sure footing and looking to make gradual progress season after season. Rounding up the show and the week's news is Editor at Large at The Non League paper, Matt Badcock. Giving us a heads-up on the stories to be featured in this weekend's Non League Paper.
After a successful first stint in management at Banbury, Andy Whing flew the nest in the summer and ended up with some old friends close to home at Solihull Moors. The only unbeaten side in the top of non league this season, 10 games in, they sit second and whilst realistic, Whing seems relaxed and confident they are ready to continue the same form for the rest of the season. Another busy week of non league cup football. The FA Trophy and FA Vase reach the second qualifying round this weekend. We speak to one of non league's longest serving managers. Vill Powell is in his seventh season as gaffer at Brighouse Town and a former FA Trophy winner as a player he knows the magic of the competition as his club prepares for a home time against fellow Step 4 opposition. Helping with the insight of the 340 odd clubs in this weekend's FA Vase second qualifying round Phil Annets is back again this time with his @favasefactfile hat on. Rounding it all up Jon Couch Executive Editor at the Non League Paper, with the news of the week from the world of non league and a heads-up on the issues to be covered in this week's Non League Paper.

It's the Second Qualifying Round of the FA Cup with the National League South and National League North clubs joining the competition and those who have got the competition to this stage are beginning to dream of some proper giantkillings. We kick it all off with the man in the know, FA Cup statistician extraordinaire Phil Annets with his @FACupFactfile hat on joins Tim Fuell to give some insight into the 160 clubs in 80 ties this weekend. Then we head down to the south west again. A bit further than last week's show, this time the most westerly side in the top four steps of the National League system. A club on the rise not only on the field but also off it. Leading the way in building online followings and communities supporting a club that now boasts an international fan base for what is truly a village side, but a lovely village at that. Jake Ash is the manager at Mousehole AFc and as it turns out he is as big a fan of this show as we are of his work and those around him at the club. Mousehole are unbeaten this season, joint top scorers in the competition and whilst they host higher level opposition in the FA Cup this weekend there's little doubt there's a respectful belief that their unbeaten record and FA Cup journey aren't about to come to an end just yet. Rounding it all up Matt Badcock Editor at Large at the Non League Paper with a few reception issues but hopefully not impacting too heavily on his insight into the big news across the pyramid this week and the issues to be covered in this week's Non League Paper.
We reach the semi final stage of the FA Trophy and the FA Vase. All single game affairs with penalties if scores are level after 90 minutes, putting ateshead, Barnet, Altrincham FC Halifax Town, Corsham Town, Ascot United, Congleton Town and Newport Pagnell Town just over one hour and a half of football from a Wembley appearance. We talk to a man formerly of this very parish. Now head coach at Barnet Dean Brennan has his side firmly in the play-offs but also in the semi finals of the FA Trophy, a competition he won as a player during his time at Grays Athletic. There's no doubting he's keen to get back to Wembley but a finish as high up the play-offs as possible and another chance of Wembley is certainly in his sights too. Phil Annets returns to the show with his FA Vase Factfile hat on as we discover the quirks and patterns of success in the cup competition that gives Step 5 and 6 clubs that incredible chance for a Wembley appearance Rounding it all up, Jon Couch from the Non League Paper, previews this weekend's edition and helps with commentary on the news of the week so far.

As the Trophy and Vase reach the Quarter Finals we talk with those at the top. First up a Co-Chairman whose love for his club began decades ago with most of those spent admiring from afar. Now however, Bill Waterson is using that fans passion, and business knowhow to push forward his club Altrincham, now in it's first year as full-time and going from strength to strength. We have a return of our very own statto Phil Annets with his @favasefactfile hat on too helping us understand the magical facts behind this season's last eight. One of which is Peacehaven and Telscombe. Chair Sue Norwood took on the role seven years ago with the club in some turmoil. A new manager still in situe and a focus on community football means not only are the mens side in the last 8 of this season's FA Vase but there is also a reserve side, Development side, U23s and two under 18s side plus a a wealth of youth and ladies football at the club. It is the last 16 in both the FA Trophy and the FA Vase. We speak to a manager in each and find out what success in a national competition means to their clubs. First up, Banbury United boss Andy Whing enjoying life in a very competitive National North this season after promotion last season. They face a home tie this weekend against National League opposition whose league position he admits belies their current form. Phil Annets is back with his @FAVaseFactfile hat on, to give us some insight into the competition for Step 5 & 6 clubs before we speak with a manager preparing his side for a trip in the FA Vase this weekend. Richard Duffy had a great pro career as a player including international call-ups, still playing, he also manages now,and is aiming to take Congleton Town all the way to Wembley if he can. Rounding it all off is Matt Badcock of the Non League Paper, as we discuss the big talking points of the week and what's to come in this weekend's edition.
They are still trying to play the majority of games in Round Four of the FA Vase. Hopefully it will be third time lucky for many this weekend. We speak to a Chairman of a club that survives on volunteers alone behind the scenes, we chat about the impact in the post COVID era, about postponements and why the FA Vase is so important to a club like his. Brian Rose of Clevedon Town also gives us some insight into the travel required for clubs in the Western League and the impact the end of this season restructure might have. Phil Annets is back too. This time with his @FACupFactfile hat on. There may only be one non-league club left in the competition, but as he points out that isn't that unusual although the lack of Premier League clubs left in the competition is. Rounding up the week's news, in a fairly quiet week without too many games, Editor at Large at The Non League Paper Matt Badcock returns to the show
We reach the last 32 in both the FA trophy and the FA Vase. Steve Baker's Harrow Borough welcome FC Halifax Town in the FA Trophy and he's well prepared on how they might turn out and why his side need to be on their game. Given us insight into the FA Vase it's Phil Annets with his @FAVase Factfile hat on. He also gives us a heads up on the return of the Generation Cup, celebrating those clubs who took part in the first decade of the FA Cup competition. Rounding up the week's news including managerial changes, clubs for sale and who from Non League Paper Towers is the Love Island expert, Editor at Large at the Non League Paper Matt Badcock returns to the show

More sound Gremlins as we reach FA Cup Round 2. Phil Annets is on hand - although seemingly abducted by aliens in the sound department - as we discuss the 40 sides and 20 ties in this round of the greatest cup competition in the world. One man who agrees with that definition is Boreham Wood boss Luke Garrard. Just one more win and it will be a remarkable three successive Third Rounds in the competition for him and his club, but there's just the small matter of Bristol Rovers in between first. Rounding up the week's news and previewing the weekend's paper is Executive Editor at The Non League Paper Jon Couch, as we provide another hour of the finest non league information around... even if the sound is a bit iffy this week.
We hit Round 2 of the FA Vase competition. Phil Annets is on hand wearing his @FavaseFactfile hat to give some insight into the big stories set to break with his stats and facts on those taking part this weekend. We thentalk to last year's winning manager, Gary Flinn still at Newport Pagnell Town and hoping to get his side's defence of the crown off to a winning start this weekend. We also talk to another manager of a United Counties League side, Lewis Thorogood at Pinchbeck United. They diced with relegation last season and he admits they were lucky but they are using that opportunity to spur themselves on and see an FA Vase run as a perfect chance to do so. Rounding it all up is Jon Couch from the Non League paper. The FA Cup grabs the headlines this week with the FA Vase and National League claiming plenty of column inches in this weekend's paper too.

It's a busy week in non-league football a perfect window to encourage newbies down during the international break. That international break comes true for some Step 7 players next week too as they represent the amateur game in Italy in a prestigious Continental tournament. We hear more from the Jersey FA Chief Executive David Kennedy. It is the Second Qualifying Round in both the FA Trophy and the FA Vase so we turn to Phil Annets with his @FAVaseFactfile hat on for some insight and stats into the competition for Step 5 & 6 clubs. One of those competing in the FA Vase this weekend is Windsor FC. We speak to founding Director Kevin Stott about the club's self-sustainable mantra, surviving the first 11 and a half years and where the club can go to next. Rounding up the week's news including the managerial changes is Jon Couch Executive Editor at The Non League Paper with plenty to come in this weekend's busy paper.
It's the start of this season's FA Vase and Phil Annets has his @FAVaseFactfile hat on to provide insight and stats on the 352 clubs competing this round, including our guest club FC St Helens in their first season in the competition. St Helens Chairman Steve Leather explains more about his progressive club and their ambitions, but first off we speak with Barnet Assistant boss John Dreyer on their 4 game unbeaten start that puts them top of the National League. Plus rounding off the week's non league news is Editor at Large of the Non League Paper Mr Matt Badcock.
In this episode, ITL talks to Phil Annets, the man behind FA Cup Factfile on Twitter. Established in 2015, Phil has become the go-to for all things FA Cup and I wanted to know the reasons behind the idea, his love for the FA Cup & ways to bring the love for the famous trophy back. A busy week in non league so we start with the Non League paper round-up. Jon Couch helps go through a vast array of stuff including the FA Trophy final, The FA Vase final and the National League Play-offs which get underway on Monday. Before all that though on Saturday its the National League Step 2 play-off finals as we find out who will join Gateshead and Maidstone United in promotion to the top tier for next season. Plus we chat about some of the many managerial changes and swaps that have happened this week. Phil Annets gives us the stats on the FA Vase final with his @FAVaseFactFile hat on and next up is a Chairman of one of those club's in Sunday's final. Sounding relaxed and ready, Rob McAlees is the kind of Chairman you would think most managers and players would want to work under. They clearly do as his joint management team seem on point and firmly part of the club and the thriving community at Littlehampton Town hoping to make further history this season. Back on the show for the second time, this season is a manager involved in one of those play-off finals on Saturday. He's switched clubs since we last spoke and got his new club into the play-offs making history already and now is one game from leading the club to a return to the top level of non league football. Paul Cox has had the necessary impact on Boston United since his arrival in January and with plenty of success and experience on his CV he is confident of a result but also has his feet firmly grounded.
First up this week, the man who came back down from the Football League to take on his current club and in a few short months has them favourites for the National League title and in the semi finals of the FA Trophy. Always great value we speak with Dave Challinor on his spell so far at Stockport County and what the next few weeks may bring. It's FA Trophy and FA Vase Semi Final weekend. Single-legged affairs and a place at Wembley at stake. Phil Annets fills us in with the stats and facts with his FA Vase Factfile hat on and tells us about his FA Cup 150 book longlisted for the Sports Book of the Year Awards. Hoping for one of those Wembley spots is Newport Pagnell Town boss Gary Flinn. ALready creating history his side host Hamworthy Town on Saturday and possibly go into the game as underdogs but he's pretty confident this side who have done him so proud in the FA Vase this season, can find the form to propel them and their club to the final of the great cup competition. An additional guest this week in the form of one of our newly crowned champions. At STep 5 promoted from the Combined Counties Premier North are Hanworth Villa. The highest-ranked side still unbeaten in the league this season with a whopping 2.8pts per game. We speak to record-breaking goalkeeper Terry Buss on topping 800 appearances for the club he first represented as a 16 year old and who he hopes to turn out for once again next season in Step 4. First up though 4 more games to complete the unbeaten season. Rounding off the show Editor at Large at the Non league paper MatT Badcock discussing England, C, Managerial changes plus a round up of the week's news and what we can expect to read in the weekend's edition.
As the FA Trophy and FA Vase both hit the Quarter Final mark, Tim Fuell speaks with two ex-professional players who are finding their feet in non league management and making a great fist of it.... as well as thoroughly enjoying it. First up, Kevin Horlock. A successful player at clubs like Manchester CIty and West Ham as well as Northern Ireland, his love for non-league developed when he dropped down at the end of his playing career and he's now back in charge at one of those clubs he turned out for. Little Needham Market have been pulling up metaphoric trees since his arrival frustrated by the COVID hit seasons. This year however the FA Trophy has shown their strength and team spirit, causing upsets all around. As the lowest ranked team left in the competition this weekend they face their toughest test with the visit of Stockport County the highest ranked side in all non league at present. That doesn't worry Horlock or this team on and off the field at the Suffolk club for whom he is full of admiration and praise. Our resident statistician Phil Annets is back with his @FAVaseFactfile hat on previewing the 4 ties with 8 teams from 8 divisions and 7 different leagues this weekend. All just 2 wins away from Wembley. Hoping for FA Vase success is former Everton player Jamie Clapham who after high profile coaching roles with Middleseborough, Coventry, Barnsley and Leeds is now manager of Loughborough Students. Not only the United Counties Premier League North Side and team lining up in the FA Vase Quarters this weekend, but also the side now in the BUCS final later this month at Basford United against Nottingham Trent University. The facilities he says rivals many professional clubs, but they are students often paying their way through their courses, but competing in a semi-professional environment. The challenge however, is one he is enjoying. Rounding off the show is Jon Couch, Executive Editor of The Non League Paper. There's talk on managerial changes at AFC Fylde, Ashford Town Middlesex and the goings on at the top of the National League. Plus a world record breaking penalty shoot out.
As the FA Trophy and FA Vase reach the fifth round and last 16 we chat to one Chairman who has won the Vase and now has his sights set on the Trophy and a manager whose club has been in every Vase competition since the start and hopes to take them further than they've ever been. First up Ken Beattie the Chairman at Morpeth Town of the Northern Premier League. They've already beaten higher-level opposition this season and hope to provide a cupset at York City this weekend. Phil Annets is back with us wearing his @FAVaseFactfile hat to give us some insight into the 8 ties in the Step 5 & Step 6 competition this weekend. One of those ties involves village side Brockenhurst Town, challenging for promotion in the Wessex Premier League managed by long-term manager Pat McManus who feels things may just be coming together at the right time. Rounding up the week's news at the end of the show is David Richardson, Senior Writer at The Non League Paper.

As the FA Vase hits the Second Round, Tim Fuell calls up Phil Annets with his @FAVaseFactfile hat on to give us a run down on the 64 ties ahead this weekend. One of those ties involves the phoenix club North Ferriby headed by Chairman Les Hare, who in 22 years as Chair of predecessors North Ferriby United took a 'village club' to Wembley twice. Once beaten Vase finalists and once FA Trophy winners. With lessons learnt and now back out retirement he hopes there are still dreams to be realised with the new club starting this weekend in the North v North derby.
