Historiepoddenklassiker! Hosted on Acast. In today's episode, we're joined by Matthew Clements, Partner at Robins Insurance Agency, and a trusted expert in hospitality-focused risk management. Before we dive into our conversation, I take a moment to share some background on the Nashville Area Restaurant Alliance (NARA) — a growing community of local restaurant owners working together to leverage collective buying power, improve vendor relationships, and support each other through shared resources.NARA exists to help independent restaurants save money, streamline operations, and build stronger connections throughout the industry — and Matthew has played a key role in that mission by helping our members better understand their insurance needs and protect what they've worked so hard to build. In this episode, Matthew breaks down:How he is able to save you money for solid, customized insurance. What makes Robins Insurance different — and why working with someone who knows restaurants mattersIf you own or manage a restaurant and want to be more confident about your coverage, this episode is full of real talk and valuable insights that could save you thousands.

After a week when John offered apology texts to Elis, Dave and the production team for being in a bad mood, he's back to his Billy best. There's a bright ray of sunshine in his heart and nethers which clears the studio air. No black eps today and Elis can leave the studio without an impending sense of worry. But there are challenges afoot for our hero, as he contends with holidaying with one whose administrative approach sits in bleak contrast to his own.Luckily he's superchillathon, and amidst such admin fears there's a decision to build a harvesting coop for the nation's Good Eggs. Plus Elis's mocking of a reaction to some quality snap bags sees the Welshman hoisted by a double sealed petard.Check out this week's Bureau bonus on Saturday, only on BBC Sounds, where rumour has it there's a very special guest joining the chaps.Want to get in touch with everything from bons oeufs to packaging retention, well send it to elisandjohn@bbc.co.uk or WhatsApp it over on 07974 293 022.

Every week on this show you think that the last vestige of John's weird past is revealed. You think there cannot be any more layers peeled back. And then bam(!), another one, as yet another aspect of intense Robins c.1994-2004 hits you smack in the face. This is one such episode. But don't worry it's not all too harrowing, for there's a huge and extremely handsome surprise for Producer Dave, and a couple of absolutely top tier Mad Dads. Plus, Elis just simply needs to connect, as the words ‘Derby' and ‘County' are floated regarding his Cymru form. Profit First for Lawyers and You with Rjon Robins Unlocking Profits for Lawyers: RJon Robins on Escaping the Trap of Traditional Accounting Are you unknowingly flying blind in your business? If your accountant is giving you a rearview mirror of what already happened, instead of a roadmap to where you're going, you may be sabotaging your profits—and not even know it. In this high-impact episode of The Profit Answer Man, we sit down with legendary entrepreneur, attorney, and author RJon Robins to blow the lid off common financial myths that are keeping small law firm owners broke, overworked, and stuck. If you're running a law firm—or any service-based business—this is the financial intervention you didn't know you needed. In This Episode, You'll Learn: The shocking truth about why your accountant may be hurting your business. The difference between a financial accountant and a management accountant—and which one you actually need. Why Profit First is more than a book—it's a strategic doctrine of freedom. How to build businesses that are instantly profitable—and run without you. The mindset shift from sacrifice to profit (and why this matters more than your marketing plan). Key Takeaways: Not All Accountants Are Created Equal: RJon breaks down why most small business owners rely on the wrong type of accountant and what that costs them in clarity and cash flow. Rearview vs. Roadmap: Traditional CPAs are historians. What you need is a strategic partner who helps you see ahead and build profit into your future. Law Firm? No Excuses: If RJon can help lawyers (the ultimate billable-hour addicts) become profitable business owners, the rest of us have no excuse. Doctrine of Profit: RJon's core philosophy turns the typical entrepreneurial suffering narrative on its head. You don't need to burn out to be successful. Only 90 Days a Year: RJon now works in his main business just 90 days a year. He spends the rest of his time launching ventures that are immediately profitable. That's not luck—it's strategy. About RJon Robins: RJon Robins is the 8-figure founder of How to Manage a Small Law Firm, author of Profit First for Lawyers, and a serial entrepreneur who has grown his business by 8,000% since starting from his kitchen table. A licensed attorney who speaks to thousands of law firm owners every year, he's built a business that runs largely without him—and now teaches others how to do the same. His latest book, Profit First for Lawyers, is a #1 Amazon bestseller, helping professionals stop sacrificing and start profiting. Conclusion: Are You Stuck in the Doctrine of Sacrifice? If you're still treating profit like a leftover instead of a priority, it's time to flip the script. RJon and Rocky expose the lie behind the “work harder” trap and deliver the truth: profit is a choice, not a mystery. Send us a textToday's topic: How to Pass the NCUA Tech Audit (Without Losing Your Mind)The guest is Mike Robins, COO at Dynamic Edge, a company that's helped many credit unions - particularly ones with assets between $25 million and $400 million - successfully navigate the NCUA Tech Audit which occurs “periodically,” according to the agency.Hear what's involved in the audit, how to pass it and - crucially - how to prepare for it.Robin's key point: prepare and you won't lose your mind.Interesting, too, is that NCUA provides cheat sheets for the Tech Audit on its website. Robins tells where to find them and how to use them. He also tells if the auditors are in fact following the cheat sheets.Listen up.Like what you are hearing? Is your law practice truly profitable? Not just cash-flow positive, but actually generating the kind of profit that allows you to serve your clients well, take care of your team, and live the life you want? In this episode, I dive deep into the critical topic of law firm profitability with RJon Robins, founder of How to Manage a Small Law Firm and author of Profit First for Lawyers. We explore why so many lawyers struggle with profitability, how to properly calculate your cost of goods sold, and why understanding the difference between static and dynamic overhead can transform your practice. While RJon and I have different communication styles, we align on the core principle: putting profit first isn't selfish—it's essential for creating a sustainable practice that truly serves everyone involved.Get full show notes, transcript, and more information here: https://www.agileattorney.com/70

When it comes to raising a family, American Robins have got it down. Approximately eight days after the male and female mate, the female builds the nest. A few days later, she lays eggs. She sits on the eggs for 18 hours a day, and the eggs hatch in about three weeks. Both parents feed the nestlings until they fledge, then Mom and Dad feed them for another three weeks, until the kids are on their own. Whew! Time for a break, right? Not a chance. Most robins raise two sets of young each season, and sometimes a third. This show brought to you by The Bobolink Foundation.More info and transcript at BirdNote.org.Want more BirdNote? Austin has long had a reputation for being bicycle-friendly — maybe it's the Lance Armstrong factor, or the extensive hike-and-bike trail system, or the veloway, or the multi-million dollar bike infrastructure projects. But what's it really like to commute daily on Austin's streets, solely on two wheels? Host Nikki DaVaughn is joined by Abi Robins, who ditched their truck a year ago and has pedaled all over town since. Robins shares their favorite off-road trails, best and worst bike lanes, how cycling helps them better connect with the city, and the volunteers who cycle around downtown, handing out food, drinks and necessities to folks in need. Plus, how you can be like Abi at least for a day — tomorrow's Bike to Work Day! Young John Robins goes under the microscope as we learn some revealing things about his burgeoning adulthood; whilst other holidaymakers were making art around turtles and sunsets, what was a youthful Johnny JR focusing his attention on? When students were showing off their favourite books in their dorm rooms, what tomes was Robins proudly showcasing? All is revealed within.Other specimens to go under the proverbial podcast microscope in this episode are two belting accents. Yes, the newly branded World Heritage Accents is in full swing, and two heavyweight voices enter the ring.Plus, The Waste Land is (rightly or wrongly) compared to a long read about Kevin de Bruyne, and we can guarantee you won't hear the word ‘batique' more (or probably at all) anywhere else.Be sure to listen to the Bureau de Change of the Mind on Saturday morning on BBC Sounds, your surefire way to guarantee a top tier weekend.Do you have a great accent? Do you know a wise Japanese person? Would you be interested in reading John's autobiography ‘Orcs & All'? He says that she needs her grandchildren there, she can skip out and go do something on her own, but she can't take the kids. She thinks that's crazy, it's Mother's Day and those are her children. Whose side are you on? Donna and Jake have a chance to win $3100! All they have do is answer more pop culture questions than Raven in Can't Beat Raven!

“ It's a message of resilience in the face of adversity — a sandbox, where every person has a story, an important point of view — folks doing something different who can be interesting, wonderful, and celebrated.” A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, we saw Star Wars for the first time — and everything changed, for so many of us. Let's be honest, it has been a long and winding relationship with all the space wizards and laser swords over the years — from Ahsoka to BB-8, from Yoda to Zahn, and everything in between. So for this May the Fourth, we got together many FrieMMds of the Pod, old and new, who all have Star Wars stories because like the Force that binds all living things in the universe. And like any good story, Star Wars holds a mirror to the moment we're in, especially now. ANDOR anyone? “This question will have enormous ramifications for my mental health for the rest of my life.” It's that sort of episode. Today is MASSIVE for Robins, as Producer Dave surprises him with a humdinger of a special guest. It's John's time to enjoy the fruits of 14 months worth of Made Up Games labour. But it's not all about fruit - which, yes, could be deployed as a starter. It's also an episode about mimicry and a tale regaled by Elis which will make your head sink deeper into your hands with each development.Got a Mississippi or Boston accent? John and Producer Dave are back from a high after John turned 2,000 revellers up to eleven with his problematic walk in music. Elis has questions but Robins simply adds so much value to live events. And he's been adding his own energy to another live event - that of the singles night variety. And he sure did set the vibe by diving straight in with tube station facts as an ice breaker. The dating scene is perched on the lips elsewhere as there's a fantastic suggestion from a listener about the best ways to judge a potential partner. Namely footwell, fridge and friend.Plus the ball begins to be rolled on the great lilts of the globe in the UNESCO Accents World Cup.Are you from Mississippi or Boston? Want to try building a nest? Consider this... an average American Robin weighs less than three ounces. An average person weighs 170 pounds, or 1,000 times as much as a robin. A robin's nest, made of grass and mud, weighs about seven ounces, so yours will weigh 450 pounds. You'll need to collect about 350 strands of grass, each about four feet long. And don't forget the mud: 150 pounds of it. You have five days to complete the job. That's 300 mouthfuls of mud.More info and transcript at BirdNote.org.Want more BirdNote?
