Tune in for an inspiring conversation about reinvention, resilience, and the pursuit of musical dreams.GuestGuestGrammy Nominated Singer, Songwriter, Record Producer, and Audio Engineer James Artissen also formerly known as James Worthy has long considered the name to be central to his life, and identity. It represents the dedication, and the passion towards his craft. Coming from New York, the musician attributes his hometown as a major influence on his style, and sound. Born James Allen Worthy on March 28, 1992 in Queens, New York, James began pursuing music at the age of 16. During that time period James had the opportunity to meet the late great Michael Jackson at Webster Hall in New York City which inspired James to fully pursue a career in the music business. After moving to Atlanta, GA the singer, songwriter, and producers first musical experience was at his high school recording studio through a music mentoring program sponsored by Dallas Austin. His initial foray into music consisted of learning the art of songwriting which later turned into music production shortly after. Artissen was also highly influenced by artists such as: A Tribe Called Quest, Whodini, Kanye West, Miguel, The Weeknd, and Pharrell Williams. While studying those artists he began to teach himself how to sing in 2009. To further his education he attended The Art Institute of Atlanta where he received a bachelor's degree in audio production. This helped him begin working, and placing his work with mainstream acts, and songwriters. In 2017, James transitioned from music production to artistry, and began recording himself. He joined a duo group named Kings X2, and released their debut single "Wine For Me" in september of 2017. The single peaked at #10 on the US Billboard Hot Single Sales Chart for 5 weeks. Later in 2018 the group disbanded, and James released his debut solo single "Move" which features the rap group Whodini. Following up to 2019 James released his anticipated EP "Blu Leisure" which became critically acclaimed upon its release. The project included guest appearances from: Tony Terry, Sonna Rele, Kalenna Harper, and Whodini. After its great success he released his sophomore EP "Kaleidoscopes", and in 2023 he joined forces with rapper Big Gipp of the rap group Goodie Mob to release their collaborative EP "Gipp N Worthy". Within all of James's work he has been nominated for several Grammy Awards by working with names such as: Meek Mill, Justin Bieber, Robin S., 112, Raphael Saadiq, and so many others to name. Ken Robins has been part of the beating heart of Esalen for many decades. A somatic Gestalt practitioner, couples counselor, and devoted early student of Dick Price, Will Schutz, Jessica Britt and many other Esalen legends, Ken has spent his adult life exploring the transformational power of relationship, presence, and the body's innate wisdom. In this conversation, Ken traces his unlikely journey from a violent and impoverished upbringing in postwar London to the barefoot wandering that eventually led him to Esalen in the late 1960s. Along the way, we discuss: His early taste of encounter group work in the Berkeley of the late 60's, and his reflections on the powerful check-ins and Gestalt work at Esalen in the 1980s The development of his trauma-informed, deeply embodied couples practice at Esalen His belief in the nervous system as a portal to healing And why, in his view, contact, not control, is the foundation of true transformation. This is a rich, intimate dialogue with a man who has lived the work, carried its lineage, and helped shape the soul of Esalen itself. https://carmelweddingceremonies.com/

07/27/25 Can I Get A Witness?: Baptism - Doug Robins by City Tribe Church
In this edition of The Connected Leadership Bytes, Andy Lopata revisits a powerful conversation from the archives with Rebecca Robins, Global Chief Learning and Culture Officer at global branding agency Interbrand. This episode explores how to nurture and empower the next generation of leaders. The central focus is Interbrand's innovative "Horizon Board"—a shadow board of aspiring talent under 30 who work alongside the executive team. Rebecca explains how this initiative provides invaluable experience and mentorship for rising stars while injecting fresh perspectives into top-level decision-making. The discussion examines the critical shift from dismissing "soft skills" to championing empathy, curiosity, and collaboration as essential leadership competencies. Andy and Rebecca also cover the practical mechanics of creating a successful two-way mentoring program, fostering vulnerability between senior and junior talent, and embedding a culture where bold ideas can thrive without causing disruptive conflict. This episode is a masterclass in building a truly connected, cross-generational leadership pipeline that future-proofs the entire organisation. Key Takeaways Soft Skills Are the Hard Skills: Skills like empathy, generosity, and curiosity are not optional extras; they are the fundamental drivers of high-performing, collaborative teams and are more critical than ever in a hybrid world. Establish a Next-Generation Board: Creating a formal platform like a "Horizon Board" gives young talent direct access to leadership, providing them with experience while ensuring senior executives stay connected to new, vital perspectives. Mentoring Must Be a Two-Way Street: Effective mentoring is a value exchange. Senior leaders have as much to learn from the insights of junior talent as the other way around, creating a richer, more dynamic relationship. Send us a textIn Your Nature returns with a luminous new episode exploring the theme of Dark Skies, featuring a guest interview with Kerem Asfuroglu of Dark Source (lighting design consultancy) and Dark Skies Ireland. As artificial light increasingly disrupts ecosystems and obscures our view of the stars, this episode sheds light on the growing movement to preserve natural darkness for the benefit of wildlife, human health, and cultural heritage.Kerem shares his unique perspective as a lighting designer and advocate for sustainable lighting practices, discussing how thoughtful design can reduce light pollution without compromising safety or functionality. The conversation highlights how excessive artificial light affects nocturnal species, including birds and insects, and explores the broader ecological consequences of a sky that never truly gets dark.Ricky, Niall and Kerem also delve into the emotional and philosophical dimensions of darkness—how reconnecting with the night sky can foster a deeper sense of place, wonder, and environmental stewardship. The episode emphasises the importance of community engagement, policy change, and interdisciplinary collaboration in protecting Ireland's remaining dark sky areas. The Robin is Bird of the Week, a familiar and beloved garden resident. Robins can be disproportionately impacted by light pollution due to their year-round territoriality, sometimes causing them to sing all night and throughout the year. In Your Nature features Ricky Whelan, Biodiversity Officer with Offaly County Council, and Niall Hatch of BirdWatch Ireland, and is edited by Ann-Marie Kelly. Award-winning journalist James Robins joins the show to share his deeply researched and emotionally searing investigation into the war in Gaza. With chilling precision and unflinching honesty, Robins lays out how the destruction and siege of Gaza has unfolded in full view of the world—enabled by the silence and complicity of the most powerful governments on Earth.Quoting Israeli officials who openly declared the intent to “flatten everything,” Robins asks the hard question: What happens when international law fails the very people it was created to protect? In this conversation, Robins brings the sharp eye of a forensic journalist and the moral clarity of a prosecutor. Together, we challenge dominant narratives, examine the Western media's role in shaping public perception, and confront the legal, moral, and human consequences of global inaction.Follow James Robins on his Substack @ https://thedreadnought.newsPurchase his book “Blowing Up Everything is Beautiful” at https://www.skyhorsepublishing.com/arcade-publishing/9781648211553/blowing-up-everything-is-beautiful/
