Have you ever felt a little panicked during a crisis you created? I know I have, and I imagine most of us have. If you have, it means you have something in common with the Prophet Jonah! Last week, while reflecting on Jonah chapter one together, we followed Jonah into a crisis he created when he said “no” to GOD, and in a moment of rebellion did the exact opposite of what the LORD had called him to do. We left Jonah sinking into the depths of the sea just before he was swallowed alive and found himself in the “belly” of a “GOD appointed great fish”! (see Jonah 1:17) It is in that moment that we see the “Panicked Prayer of a Prophet”! Though I am not panicking, I am praying that you will watch or listen, as we continue to follow Jonah, learning how a RELENTLESS GOD relates to Reluctant People! Pastor Joe Still

Are you succeeding outwardly while failing inwardly? It is easy to lead a church or mentor others while harbouring a restless, offended heart that resents God's mercy. In this powerful lesson on Jonah Chapter 4, Rev Paul Jeyachandran challenges Christian leaders to examine the "three movements of the heart"—from being offended and obstructed to becoming fully opened and offered to God. By addressing primal wounds and the cynicism that darkens the mind, this sermon provides essential training for pastors and leaders seeking genuine spiritual growth. Learn to use the "four T's" of biblical narrative—Tone, Tension, Twist, and Theology—to find transformative truth in scripture. Don't let an overcrowded soul or hidden offence paralyse your will. Dive into this study to ensure your core is as correct as your creed and experience the healing power of God's restorative questions today.#ChristianLeadership #JonahSermon #PastorTraining #ChurchGrowth #InnerHealing #BiblicalTheology #IDMCMovement #SpiritualGrowth #RevPaulJeyachandran

In Week 6 of our Timeline series, HopeCo friend Jeremy Pettitt challenges us with the profound and uncomfortable truth of God's Mercy and Love for Enemies: Overcoming Human Judgment. Drawing from the story of Jonah, the prophet who famously ran in the opposite direction, Jeremy explores what happens when our own desire for judgment clashes with God's compassionate nature. This powerful message is a deep dive into biblical context, revealing parallels between Jonah's descent and the journey of Christ. If you've ever struggled with grace for "those people," this message is your essential spiritual guidance for Christian living and overcoming judgment.Key Takeaways from This Message:- Discover Why Jonah Ran: Understand the historical and personal reasons behind Prophet Jonah's rebellion and what his flight to Tarsish truly represented, driven by his desire for the destruction of Nineveh.- Unpack the Jesus Connection: Learn how Jesus himself used Jonah's three days in the fish as a sign, revealing profound connections between Jonah's anti-savior story and Christ's sacrifice.- Shift Your Perspective on Justice: Challenge the belief that your personal judgment is better than God's mercy, and find freedom from the pride that says, "My judgment is better than your mercy."- Practical Steps to Loving Your Enemies: Get practical, life-changing guidance on how to follow Jesus's command, starting with the simple, powerful act of praying for those who hurt you.

We explore Jonah's audacious confrontation with God, his quoting of Exodus 34 back to the Lord, and the clash between Jonah's word and God's word. On this episode of Rightly Dividing, we start with the prophet Hosea, and work our way down the line, in order, to read the writings of a fascinating group of men known as ‘The Twelve'. One main thing they all have in common is that they all prophesy concerning the end times of Jacob's trouble, with a focus on the events of the great Tribulation. Jesus says in Hebrews “Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.”, and this is the sum and substance that make up the writings of these amazing Minor Prophets.ON THIS EPISODE: We take a look at the Prophet Jonah, what he does is so explosive that Jesus uses it as not only a sign of the end times, but a sign of His death, burial and resurrection from the dead.

Pastor Greg Laurie has pointed out before that the prodigal son had an older brother who could also be considered a prodigal. So . . . two? Would you believe there may be three prodigals in the Bible? Today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg points out that Jonah could be considered the prodigal prophet.
