The enemy (Shaytaan) was made clear to Adam (a.s). Iblees was the custodian of Paradise for 40,000 years. He was with the Angels (a.s) for 80,000 years. Shaytaan was a Jinn, not a fallen Angel. There is no concept of fallen Angels in Islam.
