Today's readings remind us that all good things come from God, and he calls us to specific places and times for a reason. In the book of Esther, Fr. Mike points out that Esther was perfectly positioned to fulfill God's will. We too, can examine our lives and realize that there are places God has brought us, "for such a time as this". The readings are Nehemiah 9, Esther 4 and 14, and Proverbs 21:9-12. For the complete reading plan, visit ascensionpress.com/bibleinayear. Welcome back to our weekend Cabral HouseCall shows! This is where we answer our community's wellness, weight loss, and anti-aging questions to help people get back on track! Check out today's questions:    Yvonne: Just listened to a podcast in which the doctor was recommending taking a nicotine patch everyday - starting with 1mg for 7 days and then 3 mg everday after that - supposed to be good for a variety of things but he mainly takes it to avoid getting viruses. Your thoughts on this. NOTE: You many not want to read this next sentence.                                                                                                 Sheena: Hi Dr. C! Hope you and your team are well. I'm from Canada and went for recent bloodwork and my WBC is 3.8 (I think in US measurements it is 3800). All other markers for CBC are good). I don't have any symptoms of low WBC nor do I have an autoimmune disease. This is the third year in a row my WBC has been low. Should I be concerned? Is there something I can do to help increase it? Any tests I can run? Does this mean my body cant fight infections and/or (God forbid) I get cancer? Looking forward to hearing anything you can suggest or recommend. Thank you!                                                Tricia: Hello Dr. Cabral - Ever since I was a child, I would never just get a "cold". Those little colds would turn into bronchitis or whooping cough. I would be sick for two weeks from cold induced asthma. As I've gotten older, my asthma has gotten much better but what hasn't changed is when I get a cold, I always need prednisone for me to get better. I'm 55 year old female and have been hard working hard on my health and I don't want to continue this cycle with prednisone. I feel there is something wrong and this isn't normal. Can you give me your opinion and what you think I need to work on to try to avoid this from happening. I typically get sick once a year. Any advice is helpful! I am currently taking many of your supplements to achieve my wellness journey! Thank you so much!                                                                Sheena: Hi Dr. C! Hope you and your team are well. I'm a 45 yo female and have started taking creatine monohydrate because I heard all good things. I take it everyday, first thing in the morning, in my protein shake or in my coffee but I'm noticing loose stool. Is this normal? Am I taking too much (5gl)? Do I need to ease into it? Does it benefit women in perimenopause? Is it better to take before, during or after a workout? I've listened to all your podcasts that you discuss creatine but I'm still confused. Looking forward to hearing your suggestions and recommendations. Thx in advanced for your help!                                                                                                                                                                                       Bettina: Hi Dr. Cabral. Seasons of anxiety and depression can leave us feeling weak, broken, and even distant from God. Yet, as our daily prayer and devotional from Emily Rose Massey reminds us, these struggles do not define our faith or separate us from God’s presence. In fact, suffering can be the very place where our roots in Christ grow deeper. Jesus calls us to abide in Him as the true Vine. Just as branches cannot bear fruit without staying connected to the vine, neither can we thrive apart from Him. Prayer and Scripture become lifelines—keeping us grounded in His peace, truth, and strength when the world feels overwhelming. Like trees in winter whose roots grow deeper underground, our times of hardship can press us closer to the heart of God. Instead of yielding to despair or turning to substitutes for comfort, we can remain connected to Christ, the only source of lasting life and peace. In Him, we find the strength to endure, the hope to carry on, and the joy of knowing we are never alone. Today's Bible Reading: "Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.” – John 15:4-5, ESV Key Takeaways Abiding in Christ is essential—apart from Him, we can do nothing (John 15:5). Seasons of suffering can deepen our spiritual roots and strengthen our faith. Prayer and Scripture are vital lifelines that keep us connected to Jesus. The enemy seeks to isolate us, but Christ sustains us through every trial. Let’s Pray Together Heavenly Father, thank You for giving me new life in Your Son, Jesus. Help me to abide in You daily and hold fast to the peace You bring. Deepen my roots in You during seasons of suffering, and keep me connected to Your love and strength. In Jesus’ name, Amen. MALAYSIA: Government Denies Christian Converts Changed ID Cards

In Malaysia, every citizen carries an ID card that includes religion; every person is classified as either “Muslim” or “Non-Muslim.” The Malaysian constitution promises religious freedom and the right to choose one's religion. So what happens if a citizen changes their faith? “Brother Samuel” will answer that question this week on VOM Radio. Born into a Muslim family, he came to know that Jesus was the Son of God, then chose to leave Islam behind to follow Christ. At first, he kept his newfound faith quiet, knowing that being publicly identified as a follower of Jesus could bring all kinds of trouble. But as he grew in faith, he felt convicted about his silence. Jesus had died for him. How could he be unwilling even to acknowledge Christ? Learning of his conversion, Samuel's family encouraged him to dive more deeply into Islamic training and activities. Wanting to honor his father and his family, Samuel agreed to attend Islamic classes. But instead of bringing him back to Mohammed, the training forced him to become more rooted in Biblical truth and more capable at explaining and defending Christian doctrines. In 2018, Samuel began the process of applying for a new national ID card, changing his religion from “Muslim” to “non-Muslim.” Seven years later, his court case is still dragging on. While the most famous case of Christian persecution in Malaysia is the abduction of Pastor Raymond Koh, Samuel says there are hundreds of Christians right now in the same situation he's in: trying to get the government to issue them new ID cards that accurately reflect their faith. Please pray this week for Samuel and for other Christians in Malaysia. Next month is the International Day of Prayer for Persecuted Christians (IDOP). The Voice of the Martyrs has resources to help you and your church pray for persecuted Christians on November 2 and throughout the year, including a new film telling the story of ongoing persecution in Democratic Republic of Congo. The trends we are seeing in the military leave us troubled, and we caution our armed service members to stay away from this false religion. This week we also hear letters from the audience that detail demonic oppression in the form of dreams. How should Christians deal with these attacks? How a Farmer Learned to Lead & Love in His Marriage On the outside, Jake looked like a happy-go-lucky farmer. But inside, his marriage was falling apart. Control, years of infertility struggles, alcohol abuse, and pornography created a wall between him and his wife. Even counseling couldn't break through the scar tissue of pain she carried. At one point, she said her willingness to work on the marriage was zero—she was ready to leave. Jake was out of options. Yet, in God's kindness, what seemed like the worst day became the turning point. His confession of addiction cracked open the first door to healing. What a Farmer Learned About Love in Marriage As a man who worked with horses and cattle his whole life, Jake knew how to communicate safety and calm with animals. Yet God showed him—through the story of David, Bathsheba, and Nathan's rebuke—that he wasn't doing the same for his wife. The Lord sent Nathan to David. When he came to him, he said, “There were two men in a certain town, one rich and the other poor. 2 The rich man had a very large number of sheep and cattle, 3 but the poor man had nothing except one little ewe lamb he had bought. He raised it, and it grew up with him and his children. It shared his food, drank from his cup and even slept in his arms. It was like a daughter to him. 4 “Now a traveler came to the rich man, but the rich man refrained from taking one of his own sheep or cattle to prepare a meal for the traveler who had come to him. Instead, he took the ewe lamb that belonged to the poor man and prepared it for the one who had come to him.” 5 David burned with anger against the man and said to Nathan, “As surely as the Lord lives, the man who did this must die! 6 He must pay for that lamb four times over, because he did such a thing and had no pity.” 7 Then Nathan said to David, “You are the man! This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘I anointed you king over Israel, and I delivered you from the hand of Saul. 8 I gave your master's house to you, and your master's wives into your arms. I gave you all Israel and Judah. And if all this had been too little, I would have given you even more. 9 Why did you despise the word of the Lord by doing what is evil in his eyes? You struck down Uriah the Hittite with the sword and took his wife to be your own. You killed him with the sword of the Ammonites. 10 Now, therefore, the sword will never depart from your house, because you despised me and took the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your own.' - 2 Samuel 12:1-10 The revelation was life-changing: God entrusted him with His daughter. Loving her meant creating safety, trust, and gentleness. Jake realized that real leadership wasn't control—it was love. Learned to Lead by First Laying Down Pride When Jake finally joined the program, he discovered what he had been missing for years: a biblically based roadmap for marriage. The forgiveness modules were the breakthrough. He had carried anger for so long that it felt like part of his identity. But through forgiveness, Jake experienced freedom he had never known. Old wounds didn't need apologies to be healed—he released them to God. His wife noticed almost immediately. For the first time in years, she felt safe with him. From Walls to Sanctuary: A Marriage Transformed The changes weren't just in Jake. His home transformed. He stopped reacting in anger—even when a box fell on his head in the garage. His kids froze, waiting for the outburst that never came. That moment opened his eyes to the unsafe environment his rage had created—and the freedom God was now building in its place. His home shifted from a place of survival to a sanctuary of love. He began looking forward to coming home, slipping away with his wife for time together, and seeing joy reflected in his children. Leading with Love in Everyday Life Jake learned to lead as a husband and father, not by demanding respect but by modeling Christlike love. When walking in after a long day, he chose to bring joy instead of frustration. When tension rose, he chose reassurance over arguments. When intimacy came, it was no longer duty—it was connection, passion, and contentment. Jake also says he has never felt so sexually satisfied, not because of more encounters, but because of the depth of love in his marriage. A Legacy of Leadership The transformation didn't stop with Jake and his wife. His children are being raised in a different household than they were 12 weeks earlier. His daughters now see how a husband should love his wife. His son now has a model of godly leadership to follow. Generations are being changed because one farmer decided to learn how to lead with love in his marriage. Final Thoughts Marriage was never meant to be endured—it was designed to be a sanctuary of love, trust, and joy. Jake's story shows that no matter how high the walls are, God can dismantle them brick by brick. True leadership in marriage doesn't come from control but from gentleness, safety, and sacrificial love. And the care that you give in other areas of your life is worth investing your family as well. For any husband who feels stuck, hopeless, or unsure of how to change, remember: you can learn to lead. And when you lead with love, everything changes—your marriage, your family, and your legacy. In sixth century B.C., Nebuchadnezzar was the absolute monarch of the Babylonian empire. He'd built maybe the most incredible city in history. He was at the pinnacle of power, and his life fell apart anyway. And here's the incredible part: he's glad it happened! He praises God for having done it. Do you know why? Because he says, “There was a spiritual cancer in me. There was something in me that was so bad, it was so dangerous, it had poisoned my soul so deeply that even as drastic as the treatment was, it was worth it to get it out of my soul.” What was it? Pride. Spiritual pride. Could it be that we need to know the same lesson he learned? This text teaches us four things: it tells us about 1) the sleep of pride, 2) the heart of pride, 3) the outcome of pride, and 4) the healing of pride. This sermon was preached by Dr. Timothy Keller at Redeemer Presbyterian Church on February 5, 1995. Series: The Seven Deadly Sins. Scripture: Daniel 4:24-37. Today's podcast is brought to you by Gospel in Life, the site for all sermons, books, study guides and resources from Timothy Keller and Redeemer Presbyterian Church. We continue our examination of the first commandment, unpacking irreligion and atheism. Fr. Mike highlights the different elements of irreligion, namely tempting God in words or deeds, sacrilege, and simony. He emphasizes that the sin of tempting God is easy to fall into when we are deeply troubled or afraid. Fr. Mike also spends time unpacking the many different aspects of atheism, and its impact on our world today. Today's readings are Catechism paragraphs 2118-2126. When it comes to healing, everyone's timeline is going to be different. There are hundreds of different factors involved—what kind of toxins someone was exposed to in their lifetime, what kind of viruses and bacteria someone was exposed to, how many different toxic metals are in someone's brain and liver and what is the course of action someone is taking that makes all the difference, along with what someone is up against regarding exposures in their life currently and from the past. It isn't always the physical challenges but could also be emotional challenges that make it feel almost impossible to stay on top of protocols for someone's symptoms and conditions. Many people have both the physical pain and suffering combined with mental suffering, making the healing process require more time. And then with the protocols—are they helpful, correct and do they have a true standing record of working? People who struggle with illness need to eventually become their own expert so they can help educate their doctors and become more empowered with results so that forward movement keeps happening. We are all different in how we feel and what we are struggling with because of the many factors we face that are the true causes of chronic illness, but our hearts all need to beat and our blood needs to flow and we all need to take in nourishment in order to live. In this episode you will get a window into your timeline to heal and move forward. In this episode… Find out why human beings are all different, and in many ways, close to being the same. Learn how no one's soul is exactly the same. Discover how organs in the human body are all different shapes and sizes and have different cell counts. See how there are many different exposures people are up against—and how it could change their healing timeline. Learn how if a person is dabbling, that could shift their healing timeline. See how setbacks to your healing timeline can happen when bringing in pork, gluten, vinegar, dairy, eggs, and other compromising foods while trying to heal from chronic illness. Learn about how when someone uses a powerful healing tool, they can reverse their symptoms more quickly than others. Discover the truth about the true causes such as pathogens, viruses and bacteria, and how it's best to kill them off to quicken the healing timeline. Find out how people heal fast by just using two or three healing protocols. Learn that if you repair old damage done to nerves, you can quicken your healing timeline. Discover how so many people shed their symptoms away, sometimes over fifty symptoms or more, if applying themselves to enough powerful healing protocols and tools. Discover how your body is connected to God. Learn the truth about how your body wants to heal and is always working hard to heal, even if you don't think it is or believe it is. Discover how if there was a time you felt good in your life without a lot of symptoms, pain or struggling, and if you try to remember that time and hold onto it, it can help with your healing process. All this and more, tune in and don't miss out on this important episode. You can revisit this episode anytime you need it. For more information visit www.medicalmedium.com

When parenting feels like quicksand, where do we plant our feet? In this deeply hope-filled conversation, Raechel Myers—cofounder of She Reads Truth—joins Ginny to unpack why Scripture is not just ancient, but alive and profoundly practical for families today. Drawing on Romans 1 and the way creation “preaches,” Raechel shares how her new devotional, The Bible Is for You, walks readers through all 66 books—one story, many voices—so parents and kids can see God's thread from Eden to the Garden City. This episode also meets parents in the hard places. Raechel and Ginny talk Esther's courage in dark days, the upside-down power of 2 Corinthians (“strength perfected in weakness”), and how to lead our kids toward what is unseen and eternal when life feels confusing—or when church wounds make trust feel risky. If your family is hungry for truth you can live, you'll love Raechel's practical on-ramps: Scripture-forward readings, cross-references that let Scripture interpret Scripture, and their beloved Advent reading plan (complete with slow practices like recipes, hymns, and simple crafts) to help you “walk slowly toward the manger.” Try it all together around the table, outdoors under the stars, or wherever your family finds a quiet, screen-free minute. If you are interested in the Daily Bible Devotional, you can find it at the links below:Amazon - (paperback, hardcover, and Kindle)YouTube Video Introducing the ContentFeel free to reach out with any questions: emersonk78@me.comI Timothy 5Paul gives Timothy practical guidance on how to treat different groups within the church. He urges him to treat older men as fathers, younger men as brothers, older women as mothers, and younger women as sisters, with absolute purity. Paul also provides detailed advice on the conduct of widows and their care, emphasizing that family members should support their own before the church intervenes. Only widows who are genuinely in need and demonstrate godly character should receive support from the church. Paul follows by addressing elders, stating that those who lead well are deserving of honor, particularly those who preach and teach. He cautions against favoritism, encourages carefulness in correcting leaders, and calls for personal purity. The brethren are encouraged to flee sin, as sin will inevitably be exposed.  We are called to care for one another with deep respect and compassion. Our relationships in the church should reflect the love of a family. We must treat others with honor, seeing their value through God's eyes. When needs arise, we must fulfill our God given responsibilities. We are part of a body that cares, serves, and protects. Godliness is expected of everyone, from the young to the widows. We also learn the importance of honoring those who lead well and holding each other accountable with grace and wisdom. Leadership and community are not casual responsibilities. We must walk with integrity and seek to do what is right. God calls us to live purely and never to conceal sin. Loving Lord, we thank You for placing us in a community where we can grow, serve, and be loved. Teach us to honor one another with kindness, to care for those in need, and to treat each person with dignity. Help us to see our brothers and sisters through Your eyes. Show us how to serve without expecting praise and to lead with humility. Give us the strength to correct with graceful wisdom and be patient with our approach, knowing You see all and know every heart. May we be faithful and free from sin and its consequences.   Thought Questions: Why is it important for younger Christians to show honor and respect for older members of Christ's body, specifically widows and elders? Several categories of widows are noted in this text. How many can you identify? Why are younger widows often encouraged to remarry? Why must believers honor local elders, and how must accusations against elders be handled? Why is this careful process important?
