We get overwhelmed by all of the options, social media posts, supplements and more. This year I want you to change your mindset and change your habits, one small choice at a time. More of the good stuff, and less of the bad. Little by little. Over and over again. Challenge: Find one or two choices that you can focus on this week, to just be better than you were yesterday. Resources: Prayer. Rest. Boundaries. Movement.
We each have a calling on our heart, and we will miss it, if we spend our energy and time being offended. Don't let small things take your energy. Rise above, and move on, and go be great. Challenge: Pay attention this week, and see what tries to steal your energy. Resources: Prayer. Rest. Boundaries. Movement. Your life is too short and you're calling too great to be offended by something small. - Craig Groeschel
Every thought you have directly affects your heart, and your heart is the wellspring of life. We have to protect it. Protect it with good thoughts, Bible verses, gratitude practice, and not spending our energy on negativity. We can change them with practice. Become aware this week of your thoughts. Challenge: Pay attention to your mind this week and how it affects your heart. Resources: Prayer. Rest. Boundaries. Movement. Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life. Proverbs 4:23
Energy is so precious, and it is what helps me make most decisions. Know yourself. Know when you are depleted. Know when you need filling. Nobody knows this but you. This is a truly individual thing. We are all different. Give yourself permission. Be proud of yourself for knowing and being that aware. Stop explaining. Retelling the story. Still talking about the drama. Solve it. Accept it. Endure it. Learn from it. Grow from it. This week I read this quote and it resonated… "Don't throw good energy at a negative situation. Let it go." - Rachel Macy Stafford's sister, Rebecca Challenge: Pay attention to where your energy goes this week. Resources: Prayer. Rest. Boundaries. Movement.
Here are a few tips to help us not completely lose our good, healthy choices this season. We can enjoy the season, and still keep some of our routine intact. We just have to be intentional and aware as we move through the season. Let us enjoy the season, while we still take care of ourselves. Challenge: Take a few minutes this week to be intentional and prepare for your health this holiday season. Resources: Prayer

I offer my observations as a participant in the National Conservatism Conference in Miami, Fl. The #natcon was a considerable success primarily because of the Protestant conservative voices. This episode summarizes the three days of lectures and fellowship and is also a bit of a case for why such movements need to blossom. This is my subtle attempt to bring Moscow, ID, Theopolis, and #natcon together. Resources: Prayer at #natcon 2022 by Rev. 'How to Pray' is a 7-part, weekly series offering practical guidance for anyone who's new to prayer, confused or intimidated by prayer, or anyone who just wants to learn more about prayer. We hope you'll enjoy the series and try out what you learn in your own prayers. Part 3 Resources: Prayer of Confession Based on Matthew 13:24-30, 36-43: Dear God, how easy it is for me to distinguish myself from "them." For the times I believe I am better than others — forgive me. For the times I put my ways on a pedestal to the neglect of others — forgive me. For the times I avert my gaze so I won't have to look at their condition — forgive me. For the times I wished they would all go away and live somewhere else —forgive me. For the times I feel no discomfort in judging others before I even know them — forgive me. For the ease with which I label people "them" and "other" — forgive me. A liturgy for Holy Communion: Merciful God, we confess that we have not loved you with our whole heart. We have failed to be an obedient church. We have not done your will, we have broken your law, we have rebelled against your love, we have not loved our neighbors, and we have not heard the cry of the needy. Forgive us, we pray. Free us for joyful obedience, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Psalm 103 Isaiah 1:18 Romans 5:8 Aretha Franklin sings Amazing Grace: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UFt1FRG4_VM

Download this episode During times of illness, we may fail to see the purpose for this type of suffering. Falling into despair, we may believe we're being punished or think that God has abandoned us. However, God is fully present and illness is part of His plan for our salvation and the salvation of humanity if we come to understand what we are to do. The Catechism of the Catholic Church paragraphs 1499-1505 explains how illness, when embraced as redemptive suffering, can be used to save souls, as well as our own, and brings to greater union with Jesus Christ. My husband had been telling me about hearing his favorite artist, Trey Anastasio of Phish, interviewed on the Sirius XM jam band station. Just so happens, the interview came on while we were driving home from dinner the other night. It left both of us with warm hearts and crying tears of joy. Relationships are tricky, yet God calls us into relationship as He is in relationship as the Trinity. We were designed for community, to be in relationship with other humans. That's one of the ways we are made in His image. But, we are also so human that relationships can get murky and we can often feel discontent in them. How do we fight back against that discontentment so as to live in beautiful community with those God has given to us? In this episode, we will explore these ideas more in depth.
