It's Monday, November 18th, A.D. 2024. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Muslims killed four Christians in Kaduna State, Nigeria As a Nigerian Christian man named Kushuwai started harvesting rice with his family on November 8th in Jema'a County, he suddenly found himself in the middle of a nightmare, reports International Christian Concern. Muslim extremists, believed to be Fulani militants, attacked his farming community, killing four Christians and critically wounding several others in Southern Kaduna State. Kushuwai said, “They came in their numbers, armed with guns, knives, and machetes. They encircled us without firing a shot. My son begged them to spare us, but they attacked him instead. My daughters and the other women ran for their lives while I was struck down trying to intervene.” Although Kushuwai survived with severe injuries, his son was brutally killed. In Romans 8:35, the Apostle Paul asked, “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?“ Chinese student killed 8, injured 17 after failing exam On Saturday, a Chinese student killed eight people and injured 17 others in a stabbing attack at Wuxi Vocational Institute of Arts and Technology in Yixing city, China, reports One America News. Police stated that the suspect, who was arrested on the scene, was a recent graduate who was motivated to kill and maim because of “failing [an] exam, not receiving a graduation certificate, and dissatisfaction with internship compensation.” Biden authorizes Ukraine to use US-supplied long-range missiles inside Russia President Joe Biden has authorized Ukraine to use U.S.-supplied long-range missiles to strike deeper inside Russia, easing limitations on the weapons as Russia deploys thousands of North Korean troops to reinforce its war, reports the Associated Press. The decision allowing Kyiv to use the Army Tactical Missile System for attacks farther inside Russia comes as President Vladimir Putin positions North Korean troops along Ukraine's northern border to try to reclaim hundreds of miles of territory seized by Ukrainian forces. North Korea has provided thousands of troops to Russia to help Moscow try to claw back land in the Kursk border region that Ukraine seized this year. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and many of his Western supporters have been pressing Biden for months to allow Ukraine to strike military targets deeper inside Russia with Western-supplied missiles, saying the U.S. ban had made it impossible for Ukraine to try to stop Russian attacks on its cities and electrical grids. The Red State, a conservative website wrote, “Maybe Joe Biden didn't get the memo: he lost the presidential election and will be vacating the White House in January. It's an odd time to be announcing a significant--and perhaps escalatory--shift toward Ukraine as they try to stave off Russian aggression in the ongoing war between the two countries.” Trump picked Secretary of Energy President-elect Donald Trump has named energy industry executive Chris Wright as his choice to lead the Department of Energy, pending Senate confirmation, reports The Epoch Times. In a November 16 statement, Trump wrote, “Chris has been a leading technologist and entrepreneur in energy. He has worked in nuclear, solar, geothermal, and oil and gas. Most significantly, Chris was one of the pioneers who helped launch the American Shale Revolution that fueled American energy independence, and transformed the global energy markets and geopolitics.” In remarks at a National Conservatism conference in 2021, Wright warned that ongoing attempts to shift from oil, coal, and gas to renewables are “the largest politically driven mis-investment ever,” that will increase energy costs and reduce reliability. Christian group opposes Matt Gaetz for Attorney General A conservative Christian legal group is opposing Present-elect Trump's nomination of Matt Gaetz to be the next Attorney General Liberty Counsel, headed by Mat Staver, released a statement in which they declared, “Matt Gaetz is neither morally nor professionally qualified to become the United States Attorney General. This is the highest law enforcement position in the country. America deserves much better. “Professionally, Matt Gaetz graduated from law school in 2007, and briefly worked for a law firm in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida before being elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 2010. He served in that role until 2016, and was then elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2017. Gaetz has three years or less experience in the practice of law, hardly enough to serve as the nation's chief law enforcement officer.” In the statement, Liberty Counsel wrote, “Morally, Gaetz has been under a cloud of sex and drug allegations. On Wednesday, as soon as he was tapped by President-elect Donald Trump, Gaetz immediately resigned from Congress, thus ending the Ethics probe into his sex parties that includes allegations of paying an underage girl for sex. Gaetz will face tough questions during any confirmation hearing and will likely not be confirmed. His immediate resignation raises serious questions as it occurred just two days before the U.S. House Ethics Committee was scheduled to vote to release what is expected to be a damaging report.” Mike Pence opposes RFK Jr at HHS over abortion Former Vice President Mike Pence urged Senate Republicans on Friday to vote against Trump's nomination of Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. as secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, citing his views on abortion, reports the Christian Post. He said, "The Trump-Pence administration was unapologetically pro-life for our four years in office. There are hundreds of decisions made at HHS every day that either lead our nation toward a respect for life or away from it, and HHS under our administration always stood for life." Court upholds Indiana's ban on gender transition for minors A federal appeals court panel has upheld Indiana's ban on sex-change operations and hormone drugs for minors, including things like administering puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and cosmetic irreversible surgeries, reports The Christian Post. A three-judge panel of the U.S. 7th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled 2-1 Wednesday to reverse a lower court decision against Senate Enrolled Act 480, which passed in April 2023. Talk show host Dennis Prager seriously injured his back And finally, last Tuesday, conservative Jewish talk show host Dennis Prager seriously injured his back in a fall at his home, reports The Express Tribune. Prager, age 76, hosts a weekday show heard on 400 radio stations. He is also the founder of PragerU, known for its short educational videos that promote conservative values on topics like economics and political science. It is "the most viewed conservative video site in the world, with one billion views a year, more than half by people under the age of 35." Please pray for his full recovery. And send a get well card addressed to Dennis Prager, 15021 Ventura Blvd. #552. Sherman Oaks, CA 91403. James 5:14 says, “The prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well." The little-known movement of National Conservatism rose to prominence after its recent conference featured many speakers from Donald Trump's Republican Party including J. D. Vance who was named Trump's vice-presidential running mate only days after his speech at the NatCon Conference. But what is national conservatism and what does it stand for? In this podcast the Edifice of Trust host, Victor Bolles tries to help us to understand what National Conservatism is and how it will impact us in the future.
On this edition of Parallax Views, Scott Horton of the Scott Horton show and author of such books as Fool's Errand: Time to End the War in Afghanistan and Enough Already: Time to End the War on Terrorism returns to discuss the ongoing fundraising campaign for his non-profit, The Libertarian Institute. We talk about a number of issues including the OKC bombing, Waco, federal entrapments plots, the co-opting of antiwar politics by right-wing hawks-posing-as-doves, Peter Thiel and the oligarchic war machine, where Scott disagrees with realist John Mearsheimer's assessment of conflict between the U.S. and China, and much, much more. This is a pretty free-flowing conversation that goes down some interesting avenues, particularly if you're interested in the OKC bombing and Waco, but also for the criticisms Scott makes of the National Conservatism movement that previous guests on Parallax Views such as Kelley Vlahos and James W. Carden have made recently.

On this edition of Parallax Views, a double feature edition of the show featuring returning guests Eli Clifton and James W. Carden. First up, Eli Clifton joins the show to discuss his article in The Guardian entitled "Netanyahu is presiding over a sharp decline in the US's pro-Israel consensus". We discuss Netanyahu's speech to Congress and the fact that almost of the Democrats in Congress did not attend. We'll also discuss Republican figures like Sen. Rand Paul and Rep. Thomas Massie introducing conservatives to a more critical/skeptical view of the reigning U.S. consensus on the U.S.-Israel special relationship. It leads us to the question: Will this U.S. consensus change in the future due to fracture in the Democratic Party on Israel over its conduct in Gaza as well as potentially emergent fractures in the GOP over unconditional U.S. support for Israel? In the second segment of the show, James W. Carden, a former advisor to the State Department and a regular contributor to The American Conservative, joins the show to discuss article he recently co-wrote with former Trump appointee Col. Douglas MacGregor entitled "Neoconservatism by Another Name". We'll discuss the movement known as "National Conservatism" that has been backed by prominent figures like Peter Thiel and JD as well as its origins in the form of an Israeli philosopher, Yoram Hazony, who was a youthful admirer of the late far-right wing American-born Israeli political extremist Rabbi Meier Kahane. Carden discusses this from a particular perspective. He himself is a conservative. But he's put off by both the hawkish tendencies of National Conservatism on China and Iran and very akin to that of the Bush-era neoconservatives of the Wolfowitz Doctrine and the Project for a New American Century, and what he judges to be their desires for a "theocratic revolution". He also argues that NatCons would do well to distinguish between patriotism and national, and offers an analysis of why ethno-nationalism, on even simply pragmatic grounds, is a fool-hardy endeavor for conservatives to pursue and would be disastrous in America. Moreover, James will go over the interest NatCons have in Israel and Hungary as a model for their vision of America, and why this will not work for the U.S. We'll also go over what could be described as "Caesarist" tendencies within the National Conservatism and adjacent integralist movements, as pointed out in 2021 by Rod Dreher, and his views on the NatCons interest pushing for, again, what he judges to be a plan for Christian theocracy in the United States.

Anika's insights critically examine recent trends within the American right, particularly focusing on themes of misogyny, fertility, and family values. The discussion spotlights notable figures like J.D. Vance and Kamala Harris, and addresses the resurgence of patriarchy and natalism in American politics. Anika also highlights the influence of global right-wing alliances and the problematic rhetoric of folkish ideology. The episode sheds light on the mainstreaming of National Conservatism within the GOP and its implications for the future. Last week, as Israel continued to prosecute its eliminationist war against Palestinians in Gaza, an eclectic group of right-wing bigwigs gathered in Washington, DC for the fourth iteration of the National Conservatism conference — convened by Yarom Hazony, an Israeli-born writer, activist, and former speechwriter for Benjamin Netanyahu. As our guest, historian Suzanne Schneider, explains, Hazony aspires to export Israel's model of illiberal democracy and dispossession to the nations of the world. And if the embrace of NatCon by American conservatives is any indication, he is succeeding. Nations, for Hazony, derive their legitimacy not from the consent of the governed (which, for Israel, would include disenfranchised Palestinians in the West Bank) but from God, who designated the land of Israel as the home of the Jews. All nations are born of divine covenant, not consent; political community is based on unchosen and inherited obligations extending outward in concentric circles of coercion, from the nuclear family, to the clan, to the tribe, and so on. This slipshod political theology authorizes a world of sovereign, militarized ethno-states, intensely protective of patriarchal prerogatives, and with no obligation to international law, human rights, judicial interference, or constitutional guarantees for religious or racial minorities. If Israel is the God-given home of the Jews, why shouldn't America be the God-given home of white Christians? It's not difficult to perceive the appeal of this vision for NatCon's attendees, including Trumpist senators like Josh Hawley and Mike Lee, Catholic integralists like Gladdin Pappin and Chad Pecknold, racist nativists like Stephen Miller, or Viktor Orbán propagandists like John O'Sullivan. These figures may not all acknowledge or recognize their debt to Israeli Zionism, but they all look with admiration on the impunity with which Israel has treated its Arab subjects, seeing in Israel's contempt for liberal norms, universal rights, and human dignity an aspirational model for America and the globe.Further Reading:Suzanne Schneider, "Light Among the Nations," Jewish Currents, Sept 28, 2023— "How Israel's Illiberal Democracy Became a Model for the Right," Dissent, Spring 2024. — "Beyond Athens and Jerusalem," Strange Matters, Spring 2024.— "A Note on Means and Ends," Dr. Small Talk (Suzanne's Substack), Feb 4, 2024.Yoram Hazony, The Virtue of Nationalism (2018).— Conservatism: A Rediscovery (2022).Sarah Jones, "The Authoritarian Plot (Live from NatCon 4)," New York Magazine, Jul 14, 2024.Further Listening:KYE, The Rise of Illiberal Right, Jul 2019.KYE, Return of the National Conservatives, Nov 2021....and don't forget to subscribe to Know Your Enemy on Patreon to listen to all of our extensive catalogue of bonus episodes!

In this episode, James is joined by co-host Nate Giarratano. James and Nate discuss some of the conversations that occurred at last week's National Conservatism Conference in Washington, D.C., where Pastor Doug Wilson, Al Mohler, and others spoke about America, politics, and Christianity. James lays out five ideas that are crucial for understanding the relationship between Church and state and interacts with some of the statements made at the conference. Dr. David Wursmer, Senior Analyst for Middle East Affairs at the Center for Security Policy I discussed a situation in Gaza that has not gotten the attention that it deserves, which is allegations that Christians are being persecuted there by the Israel Defense Forces. David illuminated what's actually the threat to Christians both in Gaza and the area of Judea and Samaria under Palestinian authority control, namely the Sharia supremacist efforts to persecute and, in some cases, exterminate Christians, a far bigger problem than one deserving of urgent attention. Dr. Andrew Bostom, Author of The Legacy of Islamic Antisemitism I received an update from Dr. Andrew Bostom about the appearance of a man who certainly seems to be an Islamist influence operator named Ed Hussein during his recent appearance at NETCON4, the National Conservatism fourth conference of the National Conservatism, the fourth national conservatism.

The prolonged agony of Joe Biden is causing rifts in the political universe similar to what a black hole does—a vortex sucking everything into a void beyond which lie quantum unknowns. This episode ponders a number of those unknowns as best we can.First off, we note the sudden media/Democratic Party discovery of "Project 2025," and enumerate a few items we wish would be included, like year-round McRibs at McDonalds, and an end to the designated hitter rule in the National League. Then John provides an on-scene account of this week's National Conservatism conference where he was a speaker, and where he took note for the very first time of the "trad wives" movement, which really represents an implicit final rejection of immanentizing the eschaton. From there we take up some listener requests for "explainers" about the peculiar 12th Amendment (since Trump may choose a running mate from Florida, causing confusion and uncertainty), and then the workings of the 25th Amendment, which we all agree is unlikely to work on President Biden unless he actually lapses into a coma or something. Trump can render this moot, however, if he picks Steve and Lucretia's choices for Veep; John is going for a Florida veepnom.Beneath the surface of all these issues is the knotty problem of KAH-mala. We ponder a few possibilities on this that so far we haven't heard anyone else present. Exit music this week, once against chosen for topicality: "Rift" from Phish, since some aspects of it sound like they almost could be thinking of Kamala:Last night, in the moments my thoughts were adriftAnd coasting a terrace, approaching a riftThrough which I could spy several glimpses beneathOf the darkness the light from above could not reachI spied wings of reason, herself taking flightAnd upon yonder precipice saw her alightAnd glared back at me one last look of dismayAs if she were the last one she thought I'd betray

This is a free preview of a paid episode. To hear more, visit public.substack.comLast April, a squad of armed police officers in Brussels, Belgium, marched into a National Conservatism Conference with the intent of shutting it down. The alleged crime? Hate speech. When the police saw the TV cameras, they turned tail, exited the building, and blocked people from entering. The next day, a judge ruled that the conference could go forward. But the damage was done: the local political authorities had branded national conservatives a menace to public order. It would soon become clear that the police action was just one of a series of dirty tricks by European leaders to demonize their opponents as “far right” fascists and “Putin sympathizers.”Today, the media are once again cranking out fearful headlines. “The French election risks torpedoing the global order.” “The UK election has already failed.” “Macron's election gambit puts democracy on the table.” The threat? “National conservatism.” What is national conservatism, and why do good Europeans fear it? Why did national conservatives achieve such significant gains in the recent European elections? What do national conservatives want, and how is it different from other flavors of conservatism? To answer those questions, I sat down with James Orr, leader of the National Conservatism movement in the UK. As an associate professor of philosophy and theology at Cambridge University, Orr belies the image of the fire-breathing “far right” nationalists the news media has sold us.
Nationalism is on the rise across the globe – and Yoram Hazony thinks that's a good thing. Mr. Hazony, Chairman of the Edmund Burke Foundation is a promoter of national conservatism and rejects the universal values such as the unalienable rights described in the Declaration of Independence. In this podcast, the edifice of Trust host, Victor Bolles, investigates the tenets of national conservatism and how it could impact the world around us.
This week Liz Truss has embarked on the press tour of a lifetime with her new book, Ten Years to Save the West: Lessons from the only conservative in the room. She's been casting blame from the UN to the Bank of England for the failure of her time in office, but does she really believe what she's saying? And how might this affect her standing in the next general election?Anoosh and Rachel also ask Freddie about his recent trip to the National Conservatism conference in Brussels with the likes of Nigel Farage, Suella Braverman, Éric Zemmour, Viktor Orbán, and the Belgian police. Turns out that which doesn't bankrupt Donald Trump makes him richer. Somehow. Truth Social has been valued at $8 billion, over $4 billion of which accrues to Trump's net worth--all while his astronomical bond is being reduced in New York. Meanwhile, as Hamas enjoyers try to overrun the Left, the Right is locked in its own disputes about how to handle antisemitism. Everyone's looking for the one big bad guy or grand narrative that can explain the whole complicated world. But are they looking in the wrong places? Hey guys, this is a sensitive topic and I tried to find two knowledgeable people to speak with to just hear both sides of the “history”. It seems like the world is split on this issue in a very extreme way and I always think speaking to people on “both sides” can be beneficial. In this episode of Opposing Views, I was joined by David Brog, and Norman G. Finkelstein, both have spent much of their lives researching the history of Israel and Palestine and living in the area. This wasn't an easy episode to make and I'm sure I missed things and could have done a better job asking questions but I did my best and there was only so much we could fit into the 2 hours. I hope it helps provide some information so you can form your own opinions. Avoiding one side of a massive argument isn't a good idea, ever. David Brog is the president of the Edmund Burke Foundation, which hosts the annual National Conservatism conference. He's also the Nevada Co-Chair of Term Limits USA. In 2022, he placed 2nd out of 8 candidates in the Republican primary for Nevada's 1st congressional district. He is a graduate of Princeton University and Harvard Law School. David Brog is the author of Reclaiming Israel's History: Roots, Rights and the Struggle for Peace (2017) - https://a.co/d/e36homB Norman G. Finkelstein received his PhD from the Princeton University Politics Department in 1987. He is the author of many books that have been translated into 60 foreign editions, including THE HOLOCAUST INDUSTRY: Reflections on the exploitation of Jewish suffering, GAZA: An inquest into its martyrdom, and most recently, I ACCUSE! Herewith a proof beyond reasonable doubt that ICC Chief Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda whitewashed Israel. In the year 2020, Norman Finkelstein was named the fifth most influential political scientist in the world. Finkelstein is the author of Gaza: An Inquest into Its Martyrdom (2021) - https://www.ucpress.edu/book/9780520318335/gaza
On this edition of Parallax Views, Matt McManus, a Lecturer in the Department of Political Science at the University of Michigan and the author of The Rise of Post-Modern Conservatism, joins the show to discuss his new book The Political Right and Equality: Turning Back the Tide of Egalitarian Modernity. Matt gives a sweeping history of the political right that tries to grapple, from a left social democratic perspective, with conservative thought since the French Revolution. In doing so Matt gets beyond the talking heads on FOX News or flamboyant characters like Alex Jones and Jordan Peterson, instead focusing on the most serious intellectual elements of the political right and how the left should/can respond to those elements. Moreover, Matt discusses the most reactionary segments of the political right in this conversation and their beliefs. Among the topics discussed in this conversation: - Aristotle and the Aristotelian universe in the political right; order and hierarchy in the thinking of the political right; modernity and the radical break from antiquity - Conservatism's relationship with liberals; conservative discomfort with liberalism - English conservative philosopher Roger Scruton's unpacking of liberalism; Roger Scruton and "The Unthinking Man"; agency and critical thinking as an entitlement of the higher orders of society (within the thought of the political right); - Edmund Burke, Reflections on the Revolution in France, the sublime quality of the "Sun King", and monarchy - The thought of uber-reactionary Joseph de Maistre and his response to the events of the French Revolution - F.A. Hegel as conservative? and right-wing Hegelianism - Russian novelist Fyodor Dostoyevsky and his turn from Christian socialism to conservatism, his critique of socialism and liberalism in books like Demons, and Fyodor Dostoyevsky Contra Leo Tolstoy - Dostoyevsky's Crime and Punishment and Dostoyevsky's critique of scientifically-oriented material ontologies and utilitarianism; psychological reactions to ontological materialism - Utopianism vs. Anti-utopianism, hierarchy and social order/organization, and strawman arguments - The political right in the 20th century and particularly after WWII - The far-right and the transition to fascism from its antecedents on the right; anti-democratic thought amongst elements of the political right; blood and soil ideology - Nietzsche and the political right - Edifying myths, charismatic cults of personality, and fascism; brief discussion about Mussolini - Right-wing anti-capitalism; right-wing rejections of economistic worldviews - Noblesse oblige and the political right; an exploration of the emergent postliberal right - The New American Right of the 1950s; the three-legged stool of American conservatism: muscular anti-New Deal free market capitalism, anticommunist foreign policy hawks, and social conservatives (specifically white evangelical Christian social conservatives); American right-wing opposition to Civil Rights; the breaking down of the three-legged stool after the end of the Cold War and fall of the Soviet Union - The new formation of the American political right: National Conservatism, Postliberalism, and the Eugenicons or Nietzschean Right - The Peter Thiel/Curtis Yarvin segment of the 21st century American Right and Richard Hanania; Hayek's anti-conservatism, the political right, and neoliberalism; Ayn Rand - Ideological diversity of the 21st century right-wing - Patrick Deneen, Sohrab Ahmari, Michael Lind, and postliberal oppositions to figures like Bronze Age Pervert and white nationalist/eugenicist segments of the right - The possibility of a multiracial political right? - The thought of Russian philosopher/geopolitical thinker Aleksandr Dugin and the far-right
This week we speak with investigative reporter Katherine Stewart, author of a new article The Claremont Institute: The Anti-Democracy Think Tank from The New Republic delves into the transformation of the Claremont Institute from a traditionally conservative think tank to one that openly promotes anti-democratic and authoritarian ideologies. The institute has become a significant player in the rise of what's called the "New Right," which is increasingly contemptuous of democracy and leans towards extremism. The Claremont Institute has been involved in various conservative events and movements, including National Conservatism conferences and the "war on woke" led by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. The institute has also been associated with key GOP figures like Josh Hawley, J.D. Vance, and Donald Trump. The article argues that the Claremont Institute has moved away from its original mission and is now providing an intellectual veneer to paranoid ideas that view principles of equality and justice as threats to Western civilization. It has also been deeply involved in efforts to reshape Florida's state universities and is likely to play a significant role if either Trump or DeSantis becomes president in 2024.The institute's shift towards extremism is seen as a moral collapse, as it now provides a platform for white nationalists and has been implicated in efforts to overturn the 2020 election.Guest Bio:Katherine Stewart is an investigative reporter and author who has covered religious liberty, politics, policy, and education for over a decade. Yoram Hazony is an Israeli-American philosopher, Bible scholar, political theorist and leader of the national conservatism movement. He discusses with Winston the differences between conservatism and liberalism, the future of America and the need for religion in politics.
The recent National Conservatism conference in Britain brought together an array of politicians, journalists, and academics of varying stripes of conservatism, but united by their hostility to so-called woke politics. I spoke to Aurelien Mondon about his recent article in Jacobin, Right-Wing Grifters Love to Say They're “Canceled” — but Get All the Elite Support They Want, in which Aurelien provided ten rules for making a successful career in the anti-woke grift. We talked about some of those rules, and the extent to which liberal media outlets that have provided platforms for the Matt Goodwins and Jordan Pertersons of this world might now be regretting doing so. We also talked about the extent to which the 'war on woke' is a rehashing of traditional conservative themes, and Aurelian addressed the claim that, in spite of being sometimes poorly paid and living in rented accommodation, left wing academics and cultural producers can plausibly be described as being part of a 'New Elite' that dominates our politics.
"Many men in this country are in crisis, and their ranks are swelling," Missouri Senator Josh Hawley said at the National Conservatism conference in 2021. "And that's not just a crisis for men. It's a crisis for the republic." Some version of this sentiment — that men are in trouble, adrift, or falling behind — is shared by writers and thinkers across the political spectrum. It's nearly impossible to open a magazine without finding an article about the state of manhood in America. Brookings Institution scholar Richard Reeves' 2022 book Of Boys and Men: Why the Modern Male Is Struggling, Why It Matters, and What to Do about It is a best-seller. Figures like Jordan Peterson and Andrew Tate attract huge audiences, serving as reactionary self-help gurus for young people eager to be told what a man is and how he should behave. One doesn't have to accept the right's framing of the problem — nor any kind of gender essentialism — to acknowledge the statistics: boys and men are falling behind in education, in work-force participation, and succumbing to drugs, alcoholism, and suicide. Hawley — apparently having stewed on the topic for two years — has just released a book on "manhood," which advises a revival of biblical virtues to guide the aimless young men of 21st century America. To pair with Hawley, we read Harvey Mansfield's 2006 book on "manliness." Putting Hawley's evangelical Christian preaching in conversation with Mansfield's Straussian philosophical playfulness proved very constructive. Along the way, we talk about our own relationship to manhood and try to decide which (if any) of the virtues associated with maleness are worth preserving, defending, or even advising young men to embrace. Never ones to shirk a challenge, Nish and Coco launch ‘Chat Shit Get Banged', their campaign to stop politicians from lying. They get some expert help from Will Moy, from fact checkers Full Fact - he's dedicated his life to correcting the mistakes and mistruths of the people elected to lead us…not mislead us. With a general election on the horizon next year, he tells them he's done with “bullshit manifestos”, and reveals how AI could help root out the liars.Campaigning works! Nish and Coco dissect the new Renters Reform Bill, which has finally been published thanks to the tireless efforts of people like our guest Anny Cullum, one of the founders of the community union Acorn. But does it go far enough? The Bill doesn't really address rocketing rents, so we ask if rent controls are the next battleground.Plus, Nish takes on the NatCons, but has a rare good word for Jacob Rees-Mogg. We also introduce you to Marvel's newest superhero: Ombudsman, and find out why Coco knows so much about rats' mating habits. If you want to support Full Fact's campaign to amend the rules to make it easier for politicians to correct mistakes, then you can sign their petition here: https://actions.fullfact.org/petitions/mps-owe-us-truth/?utm_source=%2F&utm_medium=home Pod Save the UK is a Reduced Listening production for Crooked Media. Dr. Jordan B. Peterson and Dr. Yoram Hazony discuss the major problems plaguing today's youths, such as the resurgence of Marxism under the guise of woke morality, the creation of aimless social hierarchies that leave participants devoid of meaning, and the complete lack of respect for adverse thinking that has lead to the deterioration of our foundational principles. Dr. Yoram Hazony is an Israeli author, philosopher, political theorist, and Bible scholar. In 1994, Dr. Hazony founded the Shalem Center in Jerusalem, which became Shalem College in 2013. Being the first liberal arts college in Israel, it attracted widespread attention, followed by much acclaim as many of the country's renowned intellectuals joined its staff. Hazony has also served as director of the John Templeton Foundation's project in Jewish Philosophical Theology, as well as a member of the Israel Council for Higher Education committee. Dr. Hazony has published many books, his 2018 work, The Virtue of Nationalism, being awarded Conservative Book of the Year in 2019. He also maintains a regularly published blog, Jerusalem Letters, that explores the topics of philosophy, politics, Judaism, Israel, and higher education. Other writings by Dr. Hazony have been published in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and American Affairs. —Links— For Dr. Yoram Hazony: Get your copy of “Conservatism: A Rediscovery” on Amazon:https://www.amazon.com/Conservative-Rediscovery-Yoram-Hazony/dp/1684511097 Yoram Hazony's website: www.YoramHazony.org Learn more about National Conservatism: www.NatCon.org - Sponsors - Birch Gold:Text "JORDAN" to 989898 for your no-cost, no-obligation, FREE information kit CarZing:Get pre-qualified and find the best deals near you: https://carzing.com/jordan Black Rifle Coffee:Get 10% off your first order or Coffee Club subscription with code JORDAN: https://www.blackriflecoffee.com/ — Chapters — (0:00) Coming Up(0:54) Intro(1:51) Rediscovery(3:00) Cultural revolution(6:33) Stored cultural capital(10:00) Sanity and marxism(15:43) Meaning and service(22:00) Hierarchy, tyranny, and the tribe(31:43) Widespread misconceptions on Conservatism(37:36) Mutation, genetic/hierarchical stabilization(44:20) Constitutional Axioms, British common law(50:50) Redefining the fundamentals(57:23) Entropy and Iliad(1:00:35) The Flood, myth across culture(1:05:25) The call to responsibility, utopian schemes(1:10:15) Parenting, shedding adolescence(1:13:29) The case for faith,(1:17:20) Abraham, the call to adventure(1:19:55) To honor those around you(1:26:00) Integral liberalism, the lack of filter(1:29:45) Common respect, breaking down tribalism(1:34:20) The act of judgment(1:37:30) Why tilt conservative? // SUPPORT THIS CHANNEL //Newsletter: https://mailchi.mp/jordanbpeterson.co...Donations: https://jordanbpeterson.com/donate // COURSES //Discovering Personality: https://jordanbpeterson.com/personalitySelf Authoring Suite: https://selfauthoring.comUnderstand Myself (personality test): https://understandmyself.com // BOOKS //Beyond Order: 12 More Rules for Life: https://jordanbpeterson.com/Beyond-Order12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos: https://jordanbpeterson.com/12-rules-...Maps of Meaning: The Architecture of Belief: https://jordanbpeterson.com/maps-of-m... // LINKS //Website: https://jordanbpeterson.comEvents: https://jordanbpeterson.com/eventsBlog: https://jordanbpeterson.com/blogPodcast: https://jordanbpeterson.com/podcast // SOCIAL //Twitter: https://twitter.com/jordanbpetersonInstagram: https://instagram.com/jordan.b.petersonFacebook: https://facebook.com/drjordanpetersonTelegram: https://t.me/DrJordanPetersonAll socials: https://linktr.ee/drjordanbpeterson #JordanPeterson #JordanBPeterson #DrJordanPeterson #DrJordanBPeterson #DailyWirePlus #podcast
