“If you look at any women's organization that started in the 70s, and still is around today, each one of them has their story of how they - if they - made the transition to be trans inclusive.” In this episode of Mirror and a Flashlight, we'll hear from Jess and Jubi, two former Collective members, Terri, a Collective member we heard from back in episode one, and Riley, a community member, all of whom were instrumental in helping CWHC work to become a trans inclusive organization. We'll hear about the challenges, the missteps, and how, through community accountability and good, hard work, CWHC created the Trans Greater Access Project, ensuring its services were trans inclusive and ultimately became a leader in providing trans health care in the midwest. One thing that has been SO important for both Riley and I to understand in our marriages is our individual love languages! Learning how we feel most loved and how we show love to others has made a big impact on our overall happiness within our relationship. Let's chat about the Five Love Languages and push our relationships to new levels. BOOOOM.
Man... love and sex and relationships?! How does anyone know where to even begin with this stuff? This week my husband Riley and I answer some of the most googled relationship questions and we get in deep. It was fun to see our differences of opinions on certain things and we just had ourselves a good and entertaining chat!
What makes a man more tired and sad than being a spouse?.. I'd say being a Dad. Oh my goodness being a parent makes you SO tired and SO sad but SOOOOO freaking happy and fulfilled all at the same time. How the heck does this happen you may ask? Well, have a kid, and you'll understand :) In this episode I sit down with my handsome hubby and ask him all about being a new Dad. We go through the process from deciding to be a Dad, to pregnancy, to labor and delivery, to bringing the babe home.. ALL THE THINGS! Hopefully the new Dads out there can relate and the soon to be new Dads can get a bit of info about what they are getting into!
Friends - would you say you are the video GAMER or the video game VICTIM?! In my experience with couples (which is VAST if I must say) usually there is one person in the relationship who is DOWN to play when it comes to video games and one person who cannot understand the idea of sitting down for HOURS playing a stupid game that brings no value!!! Sound familiar? Well it certainly does to me and my husband. Nothing makes me sadder than the moments when I want some cuddles, but I can't get them because Ry is playing video games. In this episode we talk about our journey to find some peace when it comes to this subject! Hopefully you can get something out of this too :)

I connected with Riley Johnson last year at EdCamp Fort Wayne. Last year, Riley left Indiana for the Assistant Principal position at New Tech High School in Napa, California. He will be taking over as Principal this summer. I'm grateful to have a dynamic leader in my professional learning network going through the same transition as myself. Riley's Twitter
