Why you should focus on controlling the controllables at the end of the school year. 3. What is your M.S.O. and how do you plan for it?Quotables:-Teaching requires a lot of teachers and most of what it requires is intellectual. This means that there is often not a lot of room leftover for unnecessary real estate in our brains and yet we give a lot of this space away rent free.  -It's important to give some thought to our M.S.O. (our motivation, self care and organization) It's also important to put some intention behind these so that we have enough mental bandwidth to generate creative solutions to all of the other things that are running around rent free in our minds. - I like to think of self care as an act of resistance, because education is a system that will try to take all of everything you give it. Links to resources mentioned in the podcast:Sign up for the Finish Strong-ish Workshop Here!Book a discovery call for one on one coaching or school professional developmentControl the Controllable in Sports by: Sidd SamplaNext Steps: If this episode resonated with you, take a screenshot of the episode and tag me on instagram @msevamireles. This helps my show remain active in order to continue to help other upper elementary teachers get ideas they can use in their class today. The Reading Teacher's Playbook Search for my show on iTunes or Stitcher.Click on ‘Ratings and Reviews.'Under ‘Customer Reviews,' click on “Write a Review.”Sign in with your iTunes or Stitcher log-in infoLeave a Rating: Tap the greyed out stars (5 being the best)Leave a Review: Type in a Title and Description of your thoughts on my podcastClick ‘Send'Leave a Rating and Review:

What if you could transform your law firm's onboarding process from a rushed, haphazard experience into a seamless and strategic journey integrating new team members? Last week, we explored the power of strategic onboarding and how a well-structured process can reduce turnover, boost productivity, and strengthen firm culture. But what does great onboarding actually look like in practice? In this follow-up episode of Great Practice, Great Life, Steve and Atticus Practice Advisor Lori Pulvermacher go beyond the strategy to break down the step-by-step process of seamless onboarding—giving you a roadmap to fully integrate new hires with confidence and clarity. The first 90 days are crucial for setting expectations and building confidence. We're here to share strategies for success. Inspired by Mike Michalowicz, we explore how to create a memorable and engaging onboarding experience. This includes critical process training and understanding diverse learning styles. With hands-on training and clear goal-setting, you can shape new hires into confident contributors. They'll be well-equipped to navigate your firm's unique processes. However, onboarding doesn't stop at process training; key performance indicators (KPIs) are vital in ensuring full integration during the critical 60-90-day period. We'll discuss the importance of transparent communication and how tailored KPIs can facilitate autonomy and trust within your team. We also touch on potential challenges, such as the resentment of longer-tenured employees and strategies for continuous improvement. Whether you're a firm leader or looking to enhance team culture and performance, this episode offers a wealth of insights to elevate your onboarding process. In this episode, you will hear: Importance of a comprehensive onboarding process for law firms Insights from Lori Pulvermacher on creating a New Hire Onboarding Guide Emphasis on preparing new hires before their first day and integrating them effectively Addressing different learning styles and providing robust training Role of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in guiding new hires to autonomy Strategies for fostering a positive team culture and reducing resentment from existing staff The evolving nature of KPIs and their impact on firm performance and growth Follow and Review: We'd love for you to follow us if you haven't yet. Progress is better than stagnation. Obedience Over Fear Fear of the results often holds us back, but it's essential to trust God with the outcomes of our efforts and focus on being obedient to His calling. God's Desires in Our Hearts Psalm 37:4 shows how delighting in the Lord aligns our desires with His will, empowering us to act in faith and confidence. Taking Action on Goals Real-life examples highlight the challenges of perfectionism, such as hesitating to submit a resume or launch a project, and the importance of pushing past those mental blocks to move forward. Using Your God-Given GiftsThe encouragement is clear: trust that the skills and talents God has placed in you are sufficient to make a meaningful difference when shared with others. ___________________________________________________________ Connect with Terra:  If you want to talk business, go to helpmecoachnow.com and set up a time to chat about your next best steps in this journey.  For prayer requests or to discuss your relationship with Christ, text Terra at 865-309-4737. ___________________________________________________________ Ready for more? As we dive into 2025, it's time to reflect on how we can make this year our most successful yet. This week, we explore five key strategies to ensure that you start the year off on the right foot. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed by the holiday aftermath or eager to jumpstart your goals, these actionable steps will help you thrive both personally and professionally.   First, we emphasize the importance of self care. Simple things like nourishing food, drinking water, getting enough sleep, and moving your body are what build the foundation for feeling good, and can make all the difference in setting up for success in all other areas of life.   We are also continuing to touch on setting clear goals and intentions and making sure you are being thoughtful and reflective about your vision for the year, and continuing to check in with yourself along the way to make sure things still feel aligned, and you aren't going in the wrong direction.    It's easy to get caught up in planning mode, but to make real progress we also have to make sure we are doing, so an action strategy is also a crucial part of your 2025 plan. Embracing the messiness that can come along with trying new things, and taking chances will be huge in moving forward with your goals.    We couldn't talk about planning without touching on time management. We love talking time blocking here on the podcast, and this is no exception. Making sure you actually prioritize blocking out chunks of time for important tasks that allow you to really focus on the work at hand. Also don't forget time blocking isn't just for things you have to do, it's also key in making sure you make plans for things that fill your cup, like family time, hobbies, vacations and self care so you don't run into burn out.    The last thing we discuss is clearing clutter and unneeded things from your life. Just starting small, and tackling an area, or a room can make a world of difference when it's done. This will open up space in your life for ease, creativity and new opportunities to come in.   These five things seem simple, but performing them regularly has the power to change your year. By prioritizing self-care, setting authentic goals, taking action, managing your time effectively, and creating an inviting space, you'll be well on your way to making 2025 a year of growth and success. Let's dive in!

Many are familiar with the idea of sowing and reaping—everyone gets excited about the harvest. But what about the process of cultivation? Cultivation involves nurturing something from its early stages, requiring patience, persistence, and dedication before the fruits of labor can be reaped. When pursuing a goal, it's easy to focus on the end result, but the real work happens in the cultivation phase. Success doesn't happen overnight, and sometimes the road is longer and more difficult than expected. But those who stay strong long enough to endure the challenges are the ones who will ultimately see their dreams come to fruition. So, as you reflect on your goals for the year ahead, remember that cultivation is an essential part of success. It's not always glamorous, but it's where the real growth happens. Can you stay strong enough, long enough to endure the process and continue working toward your dreams? The answer to that question will shape your path to success. In this week's episode, I reflect on the lessons of 2024 and the importance of cultivating your dreams. As the year wraps up, I highlight the hard work it takes to keep moving forward, whether celebrating big wins or simply surviving. From Jackson State's historic HBCU National Championship to my own journey with this podcast and real estate, it's all about staying the course. Tune in for an inspiring message as we close out 2024 and head into 2025 with renewed focus.   "We want to sow, and we want to reap, but do we really want to do the work it takes to develop our dreams?" - Dr. Derrick Burgess   Topics Covered: (00:00:00) Introduction  (00:00:43) Closing the Year Strong (00:01:08) Celebrating Jackson State Tigers: HBCU National Champions (00:03:10) Balancing life and finding time to disconnect (00:04:35) Cultivating Dreams: A Season of Growth (00:06:00) What is cultivating?
