Bill & Dan have returned from Fabulous Las Vegas and STLV! There were laughs, there were amazing meals, there were reunions, but more importantly, there was a TON of Star Trek! They'll look back on their entire week in the desert and their return to the Rio All Suites Hotel and Casino for the first time in three years. Hear about opening night in the Vendor Hall, some of the people they met--including Bill's conversation with a self-described "toxic Star Trek fan," and all about FanGeeks Party 2023 at Millennium Fandom Bar with special guests John Billingsley, Bonnie Gordon, and Michelle Hurd! Plus, they'll each pick their most favorite thing from this trip--and Dan's has absolutely nothing to do with Trek. It was one of their favorite trips to Vegas EVER, and you get to hear why this week!

This week, Bill & Dan review their first Vegas convention in over three years as they recap the goings on at the 56 Year Mission Convention which took place a couple of weeks ago. What went right, what went wrong, and what was up with that live music at the FanGeeks Party, anyway? They'll talk about it all and how they hope next year's return to the Rio All Suites Hotel brings back some qualities this year's show was apparently lacking. All things considered, we still want to thank Creation Entertainment for the great show they put on. As life gets closer to normal in some ways, it's good to be able to come together with our Trek Family.

Recorded live from a fancy and swanky room at the Rio All-Suites Hotel and Casino, this episode is a throwback to the early days of TPE Live! Clayton is joined by Derek "Killingbird" Tenbusch and returning guest Dylan Tomassie, with a cameo from his girlfriend. If you remember the raucous and rambunctious TPE house (think keg stands and drunken prop bets), you'll love this episode from the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, Nevada. For the best value in the world of tournament poker strategy, visit www.tournamentpokeredge.com

We listen to a lot of podcasts. One of the ones we found last year was a fast-paced and energetic show called, "Two Guys One Trek." It's the journey of two friends through TOS: one who has seen it before, and the other who had seen every Trek series BUT the original. They think that Trek is best watched with a friend and we love going on this journey with them. It's a fresh and unique perspective on the series that started it all--and it's so much fun! They've just released their entire second season where ever you download podcasts, but this week they're making a special appearance on Trek Geeks. Join us as Ira Heinichen and Josh McClenney talk about why they started this podcast and we'll find out what episodes of The Original Series surprised them. Plus, we may iron out whether Josh was trapped in a cave throughout his childhood--the only possible reason he could have gone through all his time on this planet without seeing Kirk, Spock, and company. Good times. Plus, there's some news on the Rio All-Suites Hotel for all you STLV attendees and there's finally a nationwide premiere date for the "Remembering Leonard Nimoy" documentary! It's all in Episode 105 of Your Independent Star Trek Podcast! We hope you'll join us for some laughs! FIVE YEAR MISSION We can't thank FIVE YEAR MISSION enough. We are truly grateful to them for allowing us to use their music for every episode of Trek Geeks. You really should check them out--they're writing and recording one original song for each episode of the classic Star Trek series from the 1960's. Warp on over to their website at FiveYearMission.net and check out all of their fantastic albums! You can hear them all: Year 1, Year 2, Year 3, The Trouble with Tribbles, and of course, the amazing Spock's Brain! Plus, here is a little secret...they are working on Year 4 right now! Here’s a rundown of the Five Year Mission songs you'll hear in this episode! Themes The Cage – [Track 1] – Year One The Trouble With Tribbles 6 – [Track 6] – The Trouble With Tribbles Bumper Music Within the Mainframe – [Track 5] – Spock's Brain Arena – [Track 3] – Year Two Colder in Russia – [Track 6] – Spock's Brain The Trouble with Tribbles 4 - [Track 4] - The Trouble With Tribbles SPECIAL THANKS The Trek Geeks Delta was designed by Aaron Harvey. Star Trek can be very important and influential in people's lives. There are many stories of people becoming doctors or engineers because of their heroes portrayed on the screen. Sometimes, the music of Star Trek can be a soundtrack to our own lives. People use the music for weddings, graduations and birthdays. In this special supplemental episode of Melodic Treks, host Brandon-Shea Mutala walks the hallways of the Rio All Suites Hotel during the 50th anniversary convention and asks the fans what music from the franchise is memorable or has a special place in their hearts.
