Yesterday we sat down with noted author Robert Renteria for a great conversation. His book 'From The Barrio To The Boardroom' is well-known & has become widely respected. Growing up in the barrio of East LA, Mr. Renteria's journey has been a long and storied one. He is a US Army veteran, successful businessman and the founder of the Barrio Foundation. His focus has been on the positive and upward development of youth and his series of books are geared towards just that. The title work is now in it's second edition and is available as a graphic novel. An honorary doctorate, Robert's work continues to take him around the globe with new opportunities and ambitions. This was not our first time meeting Robert, our first was while taking part in a local social justice meeting. We're glad to have met Robert and we commend him on all he does for our youth, humanity and the people he comes in contact with. This man is changing lives! Shouts go out to the American Legion and all veterans in the City of Aurora, our friends over at Aurora Business United & Aurora Tap House. Much love goes out to the Aurora Regional Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and to Two Brothers. Thank you to James, Big Will & Chad (you know who you are). So many shout outs, so little time; McCarty Mills, Cotton Seed Creative Exchange and the Unruly Artist. We're proud to bring the news to our listeners on a daily basis and we're proud to be doing what we do for the city of Aurora. It's Breast Cancer & Domestic Violence Awareness month so please donate or support both causes if you can. Be blessed, strong, empathetic and motivated; and stay tuned. We've got much, much more coming!  --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/goodmorningaurora/support

Today our expert guest, Corey Blake, shares two unique but powerful tools for both personal and business development: storytelling and vulnerability. Corey is the Publisher of Conscious Capitalism Press and the founder & CEO of Round Table Companies, where he has spent over a decade helping business leaders use storytelling to transform themselves and their organizations.   Corey spent a past life as an actor, acting in everything from commercials to movies to TV. But after he became disillusioned with acting, he started to shift to more behind-the-scenes roles and getting into the storytelling aspect of entertainment.   However, he felt the need to do something a little more predictable or “normal,” so he started pursuing writing jobs. And when people started approaching him looking for help writing their books, “suddenly, this thing that was very practical became creative.” One of the first books he worked on was Robert Renteria's From the Barrio to the Board Room, and seeing the way that book inspired people to change their lives solidified Corey's new focus: using stories to connect people and help them reshape their own identity.   Today, Corey primarily helps businesses tell their stories. “Everyone who starts or leads a business is an artist, and they're using that business as a canvas, essentially painting a version of the world that they want to see,” Corey says. “That's a story worth telling. That's a story worth sharing.”   The Biggest Helping: Today's Most Important Takeaway   “Leadership is a lifetime lifestyle commitment... We get the companies we deserve; businesses that we build are a reflection of who we are. If we want to have more impact in the world, we have to start with ourselves. So committing to doing our own personal work on this journey expands our capabilities, as business people, immensely, and it is a lifestyle commitment.”   --   Thank you for joining us on The Daily Helping with Dr. Shuster.   After 6 months of hard work and one year and four months of interviewing some of the most successful people in the Latino community. My dream of someday writing a book about how Latinos & Latinas turn their dreams into reality is now itself a reality. Today 8/9/15 my book Logra Tu Dream: How 50 Successful Latinos & Latinas Turned Their Dreams Into Reality has launched on Amazon !! In this episode I will give you an overview of the book (in Spanish) and let you know how you can get it: What do Latinos who achieved exceptional success have in common? Is there a certain mindset and a set of principles that helped them achieve their dreams? If so, can they be summarized and replicated? This is the question stated by Arturo Nava in "Logra Tu Dream", a book that explores the principles behind 50 success stories of self-made Hispanic leaders. From White House officials to tech innovators to millionaire entrepreneurs, these men and women show that it takes blood, sweat, tears -and ganas!- to overcome the odds and achieve the American Dream. But achieving the American Dream has become increasingly difficult for many Latinos despite the huge opportunities because there is a lack of mentorship and inspiration from Latino role models...but it doesn't have to be that way. This book will show you how 50 of the most successful Latinos and Latinas in America turned their dreams into reality. These inspirational people share their stories providing us insight into the mindset, actions and habits that allowed them to overcome barriers and conquer fears, to achieve what they once thought impossible. After reading this book you will know that your dream is possible if you learn and put into action the proven principles you will discover here which will: * Show you that "si se puede" ( it is possible) * Teach you how to adopt the mindset of success * Inspire you to dream big * Show why YOU are the most important asset you need to invest in * Prove to you why you need to be grateful, give and surround yourself with the right people to be successful. * Inspire you to get mentored and take massive action As says Robert Renteria says "If your dream is big enough the odds don't matter". Gaby Natale the president of Super Latina TV who wrote the forward for this book puts it perfectly: "Logra Tu Dream" reminds us that it is vital for our community to keep embracing a Si Se Puede attitude and to develop our full potential both individually and collectively. My goal is to reach as many people as possible with this book by making it an Amazon bestseller. With you help I believe we can ! Si se puede !! Hot off the presses!...well, the virtual presses at least. The wait is over! CLICK HERE to buy your copy of  Logra Tu Dream: How 50 Successful Latinos & Latinas Turned Their Dreams Into Reality .
